Brandon Jacobs rips former coach

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(1/23/2014) Former 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs ripped Jim Harbaugh over his role when he was part of the team.

In a radio interview, Jacobs said of Harbaugh "he is a [obscenity], and that's why he's never won anything." Jacobs played just two games with the 49ers in 2012 before he was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. He was later released by the club and signed with the Giants the following season. Jacobs announced his retirement this offseason.

Brandon Jacobs announces his retirement

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(1/3/2014) Running back Brandon Jacobs ended his nine-year career, announcing his retirement with a post on Twitter on Thursday night.

"After nine years in this whirlwind business they call the NFL, I am proud to announce that I am hanging up my cleats," Jacobs wrote. "I've had an amazing run and I appreciate all of the support from the fans through the good and the bad. The New York Giants are a great organization and I am proud to have been a part of it for so long. I love my coaches and my teammates and will miss them as well as the game itself but I am healing well from my surgery and I look forward to running around with my kids for years to come!"

Jacobs had 5,094 rush yards and 60 rushing touchdowns and 743 receiving yards and four touchdown catches over 109 career games.

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Giants backup RBs deep league options if healthy

by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/5/2013) Giants running backs Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs have rotated inactive weeks since Andre Brown's return -- Hillis was out Weeks 11 and 12, Jacobs was out 10 and 13. But when the two have played, they've been fairly helpful to deeper league (16-plus teams) owners.

Hillis had 45 rushing yards in Week 13 against Washington and 21 in Week 10 against Oakland before fumbling and giving way to Brown; Jacobs ran for 75 in Week 12 and scored a touchdown in Week 11.

Neither should be on rosters of standard-sized leagues, outside of handcuffs to Brown. But in deeper leagues, where a touchdown could be a boon for a Fantasy owner, the active back here may have some value on a weekly basis.

Brandon Jacobs playable in touchdown-only leagues

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11/20/2013) The re-emergence of Andre Brown has turned Giants running back Brandon Jacobs into a short yardage and goal-line back. Jacobs filled that role Week 11, when he returned from hamstring and knee injuries to carry five times for 9 yards and a touchdown. It was his fourth rushing score.

In Week 12 Jacobs plays the Cowboys, who have given up 11 rushing touchdowns. Only four teams have allowed more. Consider Jacobs a flex play in touchdown-only leagues.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11/17/2013) Giants running back Brandon Jacobs was moved ahead of Peyton Hillis as the backup back and was heavily involved during Sunday’s contest against the Packers in Week 11.
