Foxworth cut in Baltimore

News: The Ravens terminated cornerback Domonique Foxworth's contract Monday after the veteran failed a physical. He had been on IR the past two seasons with a torn ACL. Foxworth played in 18 games with the Ravens totaling 64 tackles, four interceptions, 21 passes defensed and a fumble recovery.
Analysis: Foxworth's career might be over. He's not worth owning in Fantasy.

Foxworth ends up on IR again

News: The Ravens placed DB Domonique Foxworth (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Analysis: Foxworth did play in two games this season, but he was still having problems with an ACL injury that forced him to miss the 2010 season. He used to be a key figure in the Ravens' secondary, but he was merely a backup DB this season. Continue to ignore him in Fantasy.

Ravens to deal Foxworth?

News: There's a rumor that Baltimore is thinking about trading CB Domonique Foxworth, according to CSNBaltimore.com. Foxworth is scheduled to earn $7 million this year and may not start. When the lockout ended, Foxworth alluded he wouldn’t be surprised if Baltimore traded or released him.
Analysis: Foxworth could land with the Giants in the wake of their mess at cornerback, or perhaps he could fit in with another cornerback-needy squad like the 49ers. Either way, he's just not worth owning for Fantasy play.

Foxworth still feeling knee

News: Baltimore CB Domonique Foxworth's knee continues to bother him on Saturday. After participating in Saturday's practice, Foxworth left the locker room to receive treatment on his knee. Coordinator Chuck Pagano said it's a situation where they'll play Foxworth a couple of days and then rest him a day.
Analysis: Foxworth is still healthy enough to play and he should be fine for the start of the regular season, but he is not in the form he was before the setback. Still, the crafty Foxworth is expected to start on a team in need of cornerback play after a pair of secondary-guys bolted in free-agency. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status going forward, but we don't see him becoming an interception machine in 2011 worth selecting on Draft Day.

Foxworth's knee still 'doesn't feel great'

News: The Baltimore Sun reports that Ravens CB Domonique Foxworth remains frustrated with his recovering knee after ACL surgery last August. “It just doesn’t feel great,” Foxworth said. “It’s frustrating. I don’t know. I’m not very happy about it, but I’ll just keep working, I guess. It hurts, and I don’t feel as quick or as fast as I once was. Everyone says it’s part of the process, but I can’t go out there and let down the team. So I’m just pushing and trying to get it where it needs to be as soon as possible.”

Foxworth should return at 100 percent

News: The Baltimore Sun reports that Ravens CB Domonique Foxworth says he could play now after not playing in 2010 due to a torn ACL in his right knee. According to Foxworth, his knee is about 70 to 80 percent healed. "If we had to play today, I could," said Foxworth. "Right now, everyone else thinks I'm ahead of schedule, but not me. I'm comfortable, but still very conscious of it [the knee]. I think once I get back out on the field, I will regain total confidence." No one knows for sure if Foxworth will return at 100 percent, but the odds are in his favor. He is still young (27), and works extremely hard. He struggled at the beginning of 2009, but played well from the midseason on, finishing with 53 tackles and four interceptions and knocking down 16 passes.
Analysis: Foxworth is more of a cover corner than a stat producer. Keep an eye on his progress heading into 2011, but he's not worth drafting in the majority of IDP leagues.

Foxworth officially lands on IR

News: The Baltimore Ravens have placed injured cornerback Domonique Foxworth on injured reserve, ending his season. Foxworth tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee Thursday and will have surgery.
Analysis: The former University of Maryland started every game last season in his first year with the Ravens. However, Foxworth wasn't expected to be a stat maven to begin with, so the injury shouldn't hurt the outlook for Fantasy owners outside of the deepest of leagues.

Ravens lose CB Foxworth for '10

News: Ravens head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that CB Domonique Foxworth tore his anterior cruciate ligament in a non-contact drill during Thursday's closed practice. He said the injury occurred when Foxworth planted his foot to change direction. He is expected to miss the entire season. The Ravens have several players who would compete for Foxworth's spot, including veterans Chris Carr and Walt Harris and young player Ladarius Webb. Webb is coming off a torn ACL of his own, as is the Ravens' other starting cornerback, Fabian Washington.
Analysis: Foxworth wasn't expected to be a stat maven to begin with, so the injury shouldn't hurt the outlook for Fantasy owners outside of the deepest of leagues.

Ravens defenders play well

News: The Ravens had several defenders play well Sunday against Chicago. LB Ray Lewis had nine tackles and a sack. LB Kelly Gregg had four tackles and a sack. DL Haloti Ngata had four tackles, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. LB Jarret Johnson had three tackles and an interception. DB Dawan Landry had three tackles and a forced fumble. LB Terrell Suggs had five tackles. DB Domonique Foxworth had four tackles and two interceptions. DB Frank Walker had one tackle and an interception.
Analysis: The Ravens have some solid Fantasy options in IDP leagues. Plan on using your regular options in Week 16 at the Steelers.

Ravens defenders stat well in loss

News: Ravens LB Ray Lewis (eight tackles, forced fumble), DB Domonique Foxworth (six tackles), LB Jarret Johnson (six tackles), DB Ed Reed (four tackles, interception), DB Dawan Landry (three tackles, interception) and DL Dwan Edwards (three tackles, fumble recovery) all had nice stat lines in a Week 11 loss to Indianapolis.
Analysis: Lewis might be a step slower than he used to be, but he's still a tackle machine and clearly worth using in all IDP Fantasy formats heading into Week 12 vs. Pittsburgh. Reed is also a solid starting option, while Landry is the only player in this list with minimal Fantasy value.

CB Foxworth joins Ravens

News: The Ravens have agreed to terms with former Falcons cornerback Domonique Foxworth on a four-year, $28 million contract that includes $16.5 million in guaranteed money. Foxworth played his college ball at The University of Maryland. In 14 games last year, he had 38 total tackles, one interception and 11 passes defensed.
Analysis: Foxworth is a serviceable cornerback who should help the Ravens against the pass as he replaces Chris McAlister. He's not a shutdown corner by any means, however. That said, don't consider him a valuable Fantasy addition as his stats are not overwhelming.

Falcons list Week 1 inactives

News: Atlanta lists the following players as inactive for Week 1 against the Lions: QB D.J. Shockley, DB Domonique Foxworth, LB Tony Gilbert, DE Simon Fraser, DT Jason Jefferson and TE Martrez Milner.
Analysis: Shockley will likely be the team's third quarterback and as such will be inactive on most weeks. None of other the aforementioned players have any Fantasy relevance at this time.

Foxworth traded to Falcons

News: The Denver Broncos traded versatile DB Domonique Foxworth to the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday for an undisclosed draft choice in 2009. Foxworth, a fourth-year pro, became expendable when the Broncos claimed CB Calvin Lowry off waivers from the Tennessee Titans this week. Foxworth averaged 55 tackles and 11 pass breakups in his three seasons in Denver, where he played cornerback, safety and nickel back. He totaled 166 tackles and three interceptions in 46 games, including 18 starts. With Foxworth gone, Karl Paymah solidified his hold on the Broncos' nickel back position with rookie Jack Williams moving up to dime back. Williams, a fourth-round draft pick from Kent State, had two interceptions in the preseason, including one he returned 89 yards for a touchdown at Arizona last week.
Analysis: Foxworth is a reserve DB and should not be counted on in IDP leagues this year. The same goes for Paymah and Williams.

Broncos trying to trade Foxworth

News: The Denver Broncos spent Labor Day juggling their secondary, claiming hard-hitting safety Calvin Lowry off waivers from Tennessee and trying to trade nickel back Domonique Foxworth. Upon arriving at team headquarters Monday, Foxworth, a fourth-year pro who had been splitting time with Karl Paymah, was told to go home and await word on his destination. "We're talking to a few teams right now, got a trade in the works. We did not want to take a chance of him practicing today and incurring some injury," coach Mike Shanahan said.
Analysis: Shanahan said he expected the deal to be completed in the next day or two. Foxworth, who is entering the final year of his contract, started 20 games over his first three seasons in Denver after the Broncos made him a fourth-round pick in 2005 out of Maryland. He averaged 55 tackles and 11 pass breakups while playing cornerback, safety and nickel back. He is expected to latch on and stick with another team, but he wasn't a viable Fantasy DB with Denver and can be ignored in Fantasy.

Broncos defenders do their part

News: Notable Broncos defenders from their Week 16 loss at San Diego include: LB D.J. Williams (12 total tackles), CB Champ Bailey (eight solo tackles), LB Jamie Winborn (seven solo tackles), CB Domonique Foxworth (three solo tackles, forced fumble), DT Marcus Thomas (three solo tackles, fumble recovery) and DE Josh Mallard (two solo tackles, sack). DE Elvis Dumervil and DT Tim Crowder each had half a sack.
Analysis: Of these players, Williams, Bailey and Dumervil are worthwhile Fantasy options. The Broncos host the run-savvy Vikings in Week 17.

Foxworth might start Week 8

News: Broncos DB Champ Bailey (quadriceps) is listed as questionable for Week 8 vs. Green Bay. He went through limited practice reps on Wednesday and Thursday. Bailey missed his first game of the season Week 7 against the Steelers and there is still some uncertainty heading into Monday night's game. "I feel it," Bailey told NFL.com on Friday. "When I feel it, it's really not good. I can play through some pain, but stretching and pulling it is one thing. It's still up in the air, but it's better than it was last week."
Analysis: If Bailey can't play Week 8, Domonique Foxworth will once again fill in opposite Dre' Bly. Foxworth managed 10 tackles and one pass breakup filling in for Bailey Week 7. If Foxworth starts again, consider him a viable stopgap Fantasy option.

Foxworth starts for CB Bailey

News: Hamza Abdullah (hip) is inactive for Week 7 against the Steelers. The Broncos defensive backfield is also banged up with Champ Bailey (quadriceps) sidelined. Dominique Foxworth started in his absence.
Analysis: Despite the start, Foxworth is not a recommended Fantasy option in IDP leagues. The Broncos host the Packers in Week 8.

Foxworth among Denver's inactives

News: The Denver Broncos have announced their inactives for Week 2 against the Raiders. WR Brian Clark, DE Tim Crowder (ankle), CB Domonique Foxworth (ankle), RB Andre Hall, DL Alvin McKinley and LB Jamie Winborn will not play against the Raiders.
Analysis: None of the players listed among the inactives for the Broncos are worth using in any Fantasy leagues. The Broncos host the Jaguars in Week 3.

Foxworth's ankle still bothering him

News: According to The Sports Xchange, Broncos CB Domonique Foxworth did not practice Wednesday and is still walking with a limp. He's unlikely to play this week.
Analysis: Foxworth is a backup CB and is not worth using in any IDP leagues.

Foxworth, Green ailing

News: According to the Rocky Mountain News, Broncos CB Domonique Foxworth (right ankle) and LB Louis Green (neck) were among the players who visited the Broncos' complex Monday to get treatment for injuries. Foxworth didn't finish Sunday's game because of a severe sprain and was given a pair of crutches to use before the team left Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday night. Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Foxworth would be evaluated as the week goes on and wasn't taken for an MRI. Shanahan added he believed Green "would be OK." If Green is unable to practice Wednesday, the team has only four other linebackers on the 53-man roster and none on the current practice squad.
Analysis: Foxworth and Green are both backups and are not IDPs worth considering for the Broncos' Week 2 game vs. Oakland.

Broncos defenders help out

News: Notable Broncos defenders from Week 15 include: LB D.J. Williams (eight solo tackles), LB Ian Gold (six solo tackles), CB Domonique Foxworth (seven total tackles), SS John Lynch (10 total tackles) and CB Darrent Williams (five solo tackles, sack). Champ Bailey added two solo tackles.
Analysis: Of these players, all but Foxworth are worth using in Fantasy play. However, Lynch, Bailey and Gold are the ones that should be starting in all IDP leagues. Use these guys at Arizona in Week 15.

Foxworth to start at safety

News: Domonique Foxworth is gladly filling in at safety for the injury-riddled Denver Broncos, but he still considers himself a cornerback. With season-ending knee injuries to safeties Nick Ferguson and Sam Brandon, the Broncos decided to pair the second-year cornerback with veteran John Lynch. "It caught me off guard and I'm more flattered than anything," Foxworth said. "But I'm a full-time cornerback, part-time safety." Foxworth will split time at safety with Curome Cox on Sunday against San Diego. And while he'd rather be on the field at cornerback, Foxworth understands these are desperate times for the Broncos, who've lost three in a row. "If you get thin, somebody has to step up and do their job as good as the starters do," Foxworth said. "That's what I'm trying to do right now."
Analysis: Foxworth is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 14 since he will be splitting time with another DB.

Dom Foxworth to compete for gig

News: Andrew Mason of DenverBroncos.com reports that Denver GM Ted Sundquist thinks head coach Mike Shanahan will open up the cornerback job opposite of Champ Bailey to all of his defensive backs. Second-year players Darrent Williams and Domonique Foxworth are the primary candidates. "There are a number of situations where you're in nickel and dime coverage and you need more than two corners," Shanahan said. "Many times are you facing three- and four-receiver sets where you need some help there. There'll be competition at cornerback."
Analysis: Foxworth was a surprising DB that developed quickly in '05. If he earns the starting job, then he's a sleeper candidate for the upcoming year. Otherwise, he won't play enough as a nickelback or dimeback to warrant Fantasy consideration except in the deepest of IDP leagues.

Rookie Foxworth worth it

News: Denver rookie CB Domonique Foxworth had 64 solo tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a recovery and 14 pass deflections in 2005. Foxworth was pressed into action when injuries overtook Denver's starting cornerbacks.
Analysis: Foxworth finished as a top-30 Fantasy DB, but is at best a reserve unless he earns a starting role in 2006.
