Jamaal Charles not mad at Derrick Johnson

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/27/2014) Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles said he was surprised by the hard hit linebacker Derrick Johnson gave him in the Pro Bowl. But Charles isn't mad at his Chiefs' teammate, reports ESPN.com.

"I didn't expect it, but he's out there doing his thing," said Charles, who got knocked out of Kansas City's Jan. 4 playoff loss with a concussion. "I can't get mad at him -- it's just about football, and you've just got to be ready."

Johnson lowered his shoulder and blasted Charles in his shoulder/head area, the report said. The game's defensive MVP, Johnson said he would never try to hurt a teammate and that he was merely trying to "compete a little bit."
