News: The Raiders official team website reports that newly signed receiver Josh Cribbs hopes to have a role on offense as much as just being a return man. "Definitely. I feel like its a definite possibility for competition at that position," Cribbs said. "At this point, my job is to come in and be a special teams' guru to help solidify our special teams unit in the NFL and to raise our goals and our standards. If we do that, we will become an elite unit." Cribbs also addressed the health of his knee. "Im doing well," Cribbs said. "If we were lining up to play football in June then it would be a hot topic. I will be ready to play football when its time to play football, and I think that is the important thing."
Analysis: It sounds like Cribbs is still dealing with his knee issue, but he should be ready for the start of training camp. He also could see time at receiver, but he'll have to prove himself first. He's not worth drafting in standard leagues, but he could be worth a late-round flier in leagues where you get points for return yardage.
News: The Raiders have signed wide receiver/kick returner Josh Cribbs to what is believed to be a one-year deal.
Analysis: Jets general manager John Idzik said earlier this week Cribbs wasn't quite healthy after having an arthroscopic procedure on his knee. The Raiders must feel otherwise. No major stat boom is expected from Cribbs entering his ninth year.
News: Jets general manager John Idzik told the New York Daily News that free agent Josh Cribbs wasn't healthy when he came in to visit the team recently. He's still recovering from offseason arthroscopic knee surgery. "I don't think hes quite there yet," Idzik said. "But he's probably getting close."
Analysis: Cribbs might have to settle for a veteran minimum deal once he proves he's healthy. Even if he lands with a new squad he's not expected to put up enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. No one's drafting him right now.
News: ESPN believes the Cardinals are no longer interested in WR/KR Josh Cribbs. He is still recovering from meniscus surgery on his knee. Cardinals general manager Steve Keim told the Cardinals' website there isn't any further news on Cribbs' future with the team.
Analysis: Cribbs might have to settle for a veteran minimum deal once he proves he's healthy. Even if he lands with a new squad he's not expected to put up enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. No one's drafting him right now.
News: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that receiver Josh Cribbs' free-agent signing with the Cardinals is on hold until he fully recovers from offseason arthroscopic knee surgery. The report said Cribbs passed his physical with the Cardinals, but that the club wanted the knee to be fully healed before they actually sign him, a period of about five weeks from now. Cribbs underwent the scope to repair a torn meniscus.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Cribbs, but even if he signs with the Cardinals he would have minimal Fantasy value. He should not be drafted in the majority of leagues.
News: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the Browns will meet with the representatives for free agent receiver Josh Cribbs during the NFL Combine. "Josh has really built a foundation there with the city and with the team," agent J.R. Rickert said. "Cleveland is a second home to him. But he's also a professional and he wants to play. If they if don't re-sign him, he'll pursue other options as they're available."
Analysis: There used to be some sleeper appeal to Cribbs but his stats have flat out gone to sleep. Last year he had 13 total touches in 16 games and lost three fumbles (including special teams work). He's best left to owners in leagues that reward special-teams yardage.
News: Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs was involved in a big collision on his first punt return Thursday against the Ravens, a hit that left him motionless on the ground for several minutes after his helmet flew off. Cribbs' head appeared to bounce off the ground after the hit, which seemed to leave him unconscious. Fortunately, he was able to walk off the field under his own power, though he was ruled out for the game immediately with a head injury.
Analysis: Cribbs is a terrific special teams player who does very little offensively, as he finished with two catches for 11 yards. He went to the locker room and will almost certainly receive testing for concussions. We will keep an eye on his status moving forward, but Cribbs is not a recommended Fantasy option, even when healthy.
News: Browns receiver Josh Cribbs caught one pass for 4 yards against the Bengals in Week 2. He was targeted two times.
Analysis: Cribbs is basically a special-teams ace who can't be counted on for big offensive statistics. We wouldn't consider him in Fantasy play. The Bills come to Cleveland in Week 3.
News: Browns wide receiver/jack of all trades Josh Cribbs may be in line for a muted game on Sunday, as his receiving role is still an x-factor, and the Browns are facing a tough Eagles defense.
Analysis: Cribbs is explosive, but his value may lie more in the return game than in the passing game. He was second among Browns receivers last year with a somewhat uninspiring 518 yards on 41 receptions (and four TDs). However, if your league counts return yards, there are few better in the NFL than Cribbs, who has averaged 1,249 kick return yards over the past five years. Without return yards in the mix, Cribbs can be left on the waiver wire in most leagues.
News: The Cleveland Plain Dealer speculates that Browns receiver Josh Cribbs will have a reduced role on offense this year and "see heavy duty on special teams." The report says the Browns hope Josh Cooper and/or Jordan Norwood can fill the third receiver spot behind Greg Little and Mohamed Massaquoi.
Analysis: Cribbs had minimal Fantasy value when he was an active member of the receiving corps. If his role is reduced then he would not be worth drafting in the majority of leagues. Keep an eye on what develops, but Cribbs should only be drafted in deep formats that reward points for return yardage.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs made his biggest impact Week 16 against the Ravens on special teams. Cribbs, who finished with two catches for 28 yards on three targets, returned a punt 84 yards for a touchdown. It was his third career punt return for a touchdown and the 11th time in his career he scored on special teams. "I didn't have to make many people miss and I was wondering where all the defenders were," Cribbs said. "It was just a walk in. No jets at all. I told the guys that with the extra effort, it would get me in the end zone."
Analysis: Cribbs was making an impact on offense earlier this season, as he scored three times from Week 8-11. Unfortunately, Cribbs hasn't scored on offense in his last five games and is best used in Fantasy leagues that reward for return yards. The Browns play the Steelers in Week 17.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (groin) is active for Week 16 against the Ravens. He was listed as questionable.
Analysis: Cribbs was a useable option earlier this season when he was racking up touchdowns. But he hasn't scored in four games and is back to being useless in Fantasy. Look to other options in Week 16.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs is labeled as questionable for Week 16 at Baltimore because of a groin injury. Cribbs was a limited participant in practice throughout the past week with the issue. The 28-year-old has amassed just 32 receptions for 399 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Analysis: Cribbs remains a quality play-making threat for the Browns, but he has surpassed three receptions in a game only twice this season. Fantasy owners should not consider him a worthwhile Fantasy option at this point in the season as QB Seneca Wallace earns another start.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs is still dealing with a nagging groin injury, and it limited him in Week 15. He caught the only pass thrown his way and gained 3 yards on it. That is all Cribbs would contribute as he was even limited on special teams. The Browns would lose to the Cardinals, 20-17, in overtime.
Analysis: Cribbs is being used more on special teams right now, which doesn't help out his Fantasy value much. Next weekend the Browns face the Ravens, a team that has been allowing 192 passing yards and given up just nine touchdowns through the air entering Week 15. Cribbs is not a recommended Fantasy start for that game.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs was active for Week 15 versus Arizona. The receiver is dealing with a groin injury.
Analysis: Cribbs suffered the injury in Week 14. He has recorded a career-high four receiving touchdowns in 2011, however, he still lacks the week-to-week consistency needed to be a reliable Fantasy option.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs (groin) is listed as questionable on the team's injury report for Week 15 at Arizona. Cribbs missed Wednesday's practice because of the injury, but was able to participate in a limited capacity the previous two days.
Analysis: Cribbs suffered the injury in Week 14 and his status for Sunday is uncertain. Cribbs has recorded a career-high four receiving touchdowns in 2011, however, he still lacks the week-to-week consistency needed to be a reliable Fantasy option.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (groin) stretched with his teammates, but did not participate in practice on Wednesday. Coach Pat Shurmur said he expects Cribbs to return to practice on Thursday. Cleveland takes on Arizona in Week 15. The Cardinals have given up 13 receiving touchdowns on the year, and have been allowing 261.4 receiving yards per contest.
Analysis: Cribbs suffered the injury in Week 14 and his status for Sunday is not yet known. Keep an eye on his progress throughout the week to see if he will be able to play against the Cardinals. Cribbs has a career-high four receiving touchdowns in 2011, however, he still lacks the week-to-week consistency we seek from a Fantasy standpoint.
News: Browns coach Pat Shurmur said WR Josh Cribbs sustained a strained groin Thursday against the Steelers and will be re-evaluated on Monday. His Week 15 status is still TBD.
Analysis: Cribbs has a career-high four receiving touchdowns in 2011. However, he still lacks the week-to-week consistency we seek from a Fantasy standpoint. Even if Cribbs plays against the Cardinals next week, he won't be a recommended Fantasy start.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs left Thursday's game versus the Steelers with a groin injury. He had 3 rushing yards and 38 receiving yards when he was forced out of the game.
Analysis: Cribbs was leading the team in receiving when he left the contest. He's still not polished offensively, but he gives the Browns a deep threat. Fantasy owners should not be starting Cribbs at this stage of the season, but it's worth keeping an eye on.
News: With 12 weeks of the NFL season gone, Browns WR Joshua Cribbs has already set career highs in every receiving category. Hes still got five games to add onto that, starting with Baltimore in Week 13. Itll be pretty tough for him to add on this week, however, as Baltimore has been one of the toughest teams in the league for WRs to accrue stats and hes only averaged 10 yards per game in 12 career games against Baltimore
Analysis: Cribbs has been a suspect Fantasy play all year, as he generally doesnt get enough targets to be considered a solid start. He does lead the Browns with four receiving touchdowns, but its often hard to tell when he will score, because of his inconsistent role in the offense. With such a tough matchup coming up against the Ravens, he shouldnt be considered a starting option for Fantasy leagues in Week 13.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs totaled 10 yards in a Week 12 loss to the Bengals. He had one carry for 2 yards and one catch for 8 yards. He was targeted four times in the game.
Analysis: The Bengals had a good game plan for Cribbs, who came into the game with three touchdowns in his last four games. Although, we have said that if Cribbs doesn't score, then you run the risk of starting him because he usually post modest numbers. Cribbs will continue to be a desperation Fantasy start heading into Week 13 against the Ravens.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs heads into Week 12 at Cincinnati as one of the team's most valuable offensive players the last month. Cribbs has scored a receiving touchdown in three of his last four games, including Week 11 against Jacksonville. The Bengals might be yielding 19.4 Fantasy points per week to WRs, but receivers have totaled five touchdowns in the last three games against Cincinnati.
Analysis: Cribbs doesn't have a strong history against the Bengals. He has faced them 13 times, in which Cleveland has won just three times, totaling 68 rushing yards, 76 receiving yards and no touchdowns. He had just one catch for 13 yards in the opener against Cincinnati this season, but he is definitely a different receiver since Week 1. He is getting more reps at receiver and is becoming one of Colt McCoy's favorite targets. Cribbs still doesn't post outstanding numbers, so if he doesn't score, then he has a bad Fantasy day. For that, he remains at best a No. 4 Fantasy WR for Week 12.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs broke a 7-all tie with a 3-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, and it stood as the game-winning score in a 14-10 victory for Cleveland. Cribbs scored for the third time in four games. He finished with three catches for 20 yards. He was targeted just three times in the game. Cribbs also had a 33-yard pass negated because of offensive pass interference.
Analysis: Even with the return of Mohamed Massaquoi from a concussion, Cribbs still remained one of QB Colt McCoy's favorite target. However, Cribbs is still one of those players that doesn't help Fantasy owners if he doesn't score a touchdown. He will at best a No. 4 Fantasy WR heading into Week 12 at Cincinnati.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had his scoring streak end at two games in Week 10 and will look to get back into the end zone in Week 11 vs. the Jaguars. However, it will be a challenge. Jacksonville ranks fifth in the league in pass defense, yielding 189.3 yards per game. It is also giving up just 15.0 Fantasy points per week to WRs, which is second-lowest in the NFL, only behind the Browns. A receiver hasn't scored in two games against Jacksonville and no WR has a multi-touchdown game against the Jaguars since Kenny Britt accomplished the feat in Week 1.
Analysis: With RBs Peyton Hillis and Montario Hardesty still out last week due to injuries, the Browns brought back the Wildcat formation and gave Cribbs his first carries since Week 1. He averaged 7.0 yards per carry, but also had a crucial fumble. Cribbs made his biggest impact against Jacksonville the last time he played them in 2009 on the ground, rushing for 47 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Cribbs missed the 2010 showdown because of injury. Cribbs has stepped up on offense lately in the absence of Mohamed Massaquoi, who could return from a concussion in Week 11. However, Cribbs still is a desperation Fantasy start with the tough matchup.
News: WR Josh Cribbs was a critical part of the Browns' offense in Week 10, but it was a play on special teams that defined the day for him. Cribbs' fumbled a punt return on his own 23-yard line, and the Rams eventually converted the game-winning field goal on the ensuing drive. On the brighter side, Cribbs made three catches for 32 yards, and he ran the ball three more times for 21 yards, as he took snaps out of the Wildcat formation.
Analysis: Cribbs gave Fantasy owners some value in the previous two weeks, as he scored in each of those games, but he failed to reach the end zone in Week 10. He is one of the Browns' more dangerous offensive weapons, especially as long as Peyton Hillis is out, but given that the offense overall is not very robust, Cribbs remains a low-end Fantasy option. Consider him as a No. 4 Fantasy WR for Week 11 against the Jaguars.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs hinted Wednesday at potentially seeing some carries in Week 10 vs. St. Louis with Peyton Hillis and Montario Hardesty out again with injuries. "They put something special in for me this week," Cribbs told The Plain Dealer. "There will be some surprises this week." Should Cribbs get some carries, it could pay off, as the Rams possess the league's worst rushing defense, allowing 153.6 rushing yards per game.
Analysis: This isn't surprising since Cribbs has been used as a Wildcat QB in the past and he has been one of the few offensive players doing something on offense for Cleveland lately. Cribbs has scored in two straight games. It's still not time to buy fully on Cribbs, but he can be used as a No. 4 Fantasy WR for Week 10.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs scored for the second consecutive week and recorded his third receiving touchdown this season during a Week 9 loss to the Texans. Cribbs recorded the team's only touchdown on a 2-yard pass late in the fourth quarter. He finished with a team-high five catches for 50 yards, which included a 20-yard gain.
Analysis: Cribbs has really benefited from Mohamed Massaquoi missing time due to a concussion. He is emerging as one of the Browns' top receivers, but still isn't having monster games. Cribbs remains a low-end Fantasy start heading into Week 10 vs. St. Louis.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs hauled in his second touchdown reception of the season in Week 8 against the 49ers. Cribbs, who was starting in place of the injured Mohamed Massaquoi, was on the receiving end of a 45-yard scoring strike from Colt McCoy in the fourth quarter. Cribbs finished with two receptions for 56 yards in the 20-10 defeat and averaged 28 yards per reception. He was targeted three times by McCoy.
Analysis: Cribbs was one of the few bright spots for the Browns on Sunday as he played well in place of Massaquoi. However, he will likely go back to being the No. 3 option once Massaquoi gets healthy, witch could be in Week 9 against the Texans. Still, even if Cribbs does get another start, he and has only registered more than three receptions in a game once this year. Consider him merely a low-end option in deeper formats, especially once Massaquoi returns.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs is expected to start Week 8 against San Francisco after WR Mohamed Massaquoi was ruled out for the game because of a concussion. Cribbs has recorded 15 receptions for 192 yards while mainly being utilized on special teams this year. San Francisco enters Sunday's contest ranked 22nd in pass defense, allowing 261 yards per game. The 49ers have surrendered nine touchdowns through the air and are allowing an average of 23.3 Fantasy points to opposing WRs on the season.
Analysis: Cribbs continues to be underwhelming in the passing game and has registered more than three receptions in a game only once this year. Massaquoi was not a huge contributor himself so Cribbs' looks could be limited Sunday. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end option in deeper formats as he will continue to have a role on kickoffs.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs tallied two catches for 30 yards during the Browns' 24-17 loss to Oakland in Week 6 on Sunday. Cribbs, who was considered probable for the game because of a lingering knee injury, turned in his lowest reception total since Week 1 against Cincinnati. He continued to produce more on special teams and finished with 53 yards on three kickoff returns while netting 30 yards on a pair of punt returns.
Analysis: After the game, Cribbs said he was frustrated by his limited role on offense and wants to expand his role on special teams. My role on offense, when I weigh it to special teams, its very insignificant, Cribbs said. So I need to refocus more on special teams and not worry about getting the ball on offense. Fantasy owners shouldn't rely too much on Cribbs outside of league that reward points for return touchdowns.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs did not practice outside with the rest of the team on Tuesday due to the sprained knee he suffered in Week 4 against Tennessee. That said, Cribbs did some work inside the practice facility, reports the team's official site. "Cribbs, we felt like he made good progress over night," coach Pat Shurmur said of his receiver. The Browns are on a bye Week 5 and return to action Week 6 against the Raiders.
Analysis: It doesn't sound as though Cribbs suffered a major injury and the bye is coming at the opportune time for him to rest. He has been more involved on offense the last three games, but Cribbs still doesn't have outstanding numbers. Continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Browns coach Pat Shurmur said WR Josh Cribbs suffered a slight knee sprain in Week 4 against the Titans.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, who recorded just his fourth touchdown reception as a pro in Week 3, was a factor in the passing game Week 4 against the Titans, but he wasn't a major contributor. He was targeted eight times, catching five passes for 50 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs is averaging 46.7 receiving yards over his last three games, so it's pretty clear the Browns are going to keep him involved in the passing game. Of course, it's also pretty clear he's not a go-to guy for QB Colt McCoy. His modest production makes him waiver fodder in most Fantasy leagues. The Browns have a bye in Week 5 before visiting the Raiders in Week 6.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, who was limited in practice this week by a groin injury, is active for Week 4 against the Titans. He was listed as questionable for the game.
Analysis: Cribbs caught a big touchdown pass in Week 3, but his biggest role with the Browns is on special teams. He'll likely get only a few targets this week, making him just a desperation play in Fantasy.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs was considered questionable on Friday's injury report for the team's Week 4 outing against Tennessee. Cribbs, who has not missed a game this season, was a limited participant in practice throughout the week.
Analysis: Cribbs has recorded just seven catches this season as his highest value remains in special teams. He is averaging a stellar 34.2 yards per return on kickoffs this season so the Browns are hopeful to have him for Sunday. He should be considered a worthwhile option only in Fantasy formats that reward points for return yards.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs may have caught a touchdown pass against the Dolphins in Week 3, but if he does it again against in Week 4, it'll be the first time in his seven-year career that he has caught multiple touchdown passes in the same season. The fact that he's facing a Titans defense that ranks second against the pass, allowing 172.0 yards per game, and has given up the second-fewest Fantasy points to wide receivers this season only lengthens the odds.
Analysis: Cribbs gets a few passes his way every week but is still primarily a special teams player. He's about the fifth receiving option for QB Colt McCoy -- behind tight ends Benjamin Watson and Evan Moore and wide receivers Mohamed Massaquoi and Greg Little -- on a team that prefers to run the ball. Clearly, you shouldn't be enthusiastic about starting Cribbs in Fantasy this week.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had his fourth career receiving touchdown in Week 3 against the Dolphins. Cribbs hooked up with QB Colt McCoy for a 33-yard touchdown play in the second quarter. Cribbs finished with three catches for 49 yards on six targets.
Analysis: With Cribbs being neutralized on special teams by the new kickoff rule, the Browns are trying to find other ways to get him involved. He made some very nice catches in Week 3, but he still didn't have a standout performance. Cribbs continues to have low-end Fantasy appeal heading into Week 4 against the Titans.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs caught three passes for 41 yards in Week 2 at the Colts, just four yards shy of the team lead. He was targeted three times in the game. Cribbs also returned two kickoffs for a total of 80 yards and two punts for a total of 52 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs is more a kick returner than he is a wide receiver, but the Browns continue to find ways to keep him involved in the offense. His value remains highest in those leagues that reward his kick returns, but he should not be thought of as a viable starting option in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Though he has been dealing with a hamstring injury, Browns WR Josh Cribbs was not among the team's inactives for the Week 1 tilt against the Bengals. He was expected to play all along after participating in the majority of practice throughout the week. Cribbs notched six touches (three rush) for 37 total yards (9 rush) in two games against the AFC North foe last season.
Analysis: Cribbshas the chance to make plays for the Browns this season on offense and on special teams. Keep an eye on his progress, but he has minimal Fantasy value in Week 1. Let him prove himself first before starting him in the majority of leagues. Cincinnati ranked 21st among 32 teams last season by allowing WRs to 20.88 Fantasy points per game last season and they lost their best DB Johnathan Joseph in free agency.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs is listed as probable for Week 1 against the Bengals. Cribbs has been dealing with a hamstring injury, but he is expected to play. Cincinnati ranked 21st among 32 teams last season by allowing WRs to 20.88 Fantasy points per game last season and they lost their best DB Johnathan Joseph in free agency. Cribbs notched six touches (three rush) for 37 total yards (9 rush) in two games against the AFC North foe last season.
Analysis: Cribbs has the chance to make plays for the Browns this season on offense and on special teams. Keep an eye on his progress, but he has minimal Fantasy value in Week 1. Let him prove himself first before starting him in the majority of leagues.
News: Browns coach Pat Shumur said Monday that all the WRs on his live roster will play against the Bengals in the season opener. He hasn't tipped his hand in regard to starters or playing time. Josh Cribbs (when healthy) and rookie Greg Little have been the most impressive WRs in the preseason.
Analysis: Cribbs has been dealing with yet another hamstring issue, but he targeted his recovery to be about a week when he suffered the setback in late August. He may be featured much more in the 2011 offense now that Shurmur is calling the shots, so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his progress going forward. Cribbs may end up being the team's No. 1 WR when the season begins, which makes him worth a low-end play in deep leagues.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs has a hamstring injury. He estimates he'll be out a week, which would sideline him for the Thursday's critical third preseason game at Philadelphia, in which the starters will play about three quarters. "Today, Josh Cribbs tweeked his hamstring just a little," coach Pat Shurmur told reporters after practice. "He finished up his day when he felt that hamstring tweek so well see where he is with that." Cribbs dealt with a knee injury that limited him in training camp.
Analysis: Cribbs is expected to have an increased role in the offense this season, but he has been nicked up throughout camp and the preseason thus far. Hopefully the week off is just precautionary, but Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the matter anyway. Cribbs may end up being the team's No. 1 WR when the season begins, which makes him worth a late-round pick on Draft Day even in leagues that don't reward return yardage. Stay tuned.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs was dealing with a knee injury in training camp, but he was able to play in Saturday's preseason opener against Green Bay. Cribbs had two catches for 37 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown reception from QB Colt McCoy.
Analysis: The Browns are looking for someone to step up as their No. 1 WR, and Cribbs could potentially fill that role. Continue to monitor his progress during the preseason, but Cribbs could easily outplay Greg Little, Brian Robiskie and Mohammed Massaquoi, who are ahead of him on the depth chart. Cribbs might be worth drafting with a late-round flier in all leagues.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs (knee) said he'd be back by the end of the week and he was true to his word. He participated in full pads Friday after banging up his left knee on Sunday in practice and getting it wrapped. Now he can focus on what he'll be doing: Cribbs caught a few passes, lined up in the backfield a few times, and even completed a pass Friday at practice. That's nothing new for the dynamic kick returner. The Browns are always trying to implement his breakaway talent into their offense, and new coach Pat Shurmur intends to try and get the ball into Cribbs' hands as often as possible in other ways.
Analysis: Cribbs has the potential to be an exciting part of the Browns offense but has never been a statistical monster. Fantasy owners should only consider him in leagues that heavily reward special-teams yardage, since that's where he's done much of his damage.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs has made his mark in the NFL as primarily as a kick returner, but first-year head coach Pat Shurmur feels Cribbs can be a threat in his West Coast offense. Really the first couple days, until we sat him down, he did some good things," Shurmur said. "He can catch the football, he knows how to separate. Obviously, because of his return skills, hes good with the ball in his hands after he catches it. Those are all three really good attributes. I think hes a very, very fine football player. He obviously burst on the scene as a returner and I know last year they made an effort to develop him as a receiver. Were going to line him up at receiver and try and teach him to play the position and see where it goes.
Analysis: While Shurmur says nice things about Cribbs, it's clear by his last few statements that he views him as a project at receiver. That's not a good thing for Fantasy owners. Cribbs has the potential to be an exciting part of the Browns offense but has never been a statistical monster. Fantasy owners should only consider him in leagues that heavily reward special-teams yardage, since that's where he's done much of his damage.
News: WR/KR Josh Cribbs said the MRI on his left knee showed no damage and that he could return to practice as early as the end of this week. Cribbs banged up his knee on Sunday in practice and had his knee wrapped.
Analysis: Cribbs has the potential to be an exciting part of the Browns offense but has never been a statistical monster. Fantasy owners should only consider him in leagues that heavily reward special-teams yardage, since that's where he's done much of his damage.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs sat out the second part of practice with his left knee wrapped in ice Sunday. He participated in the second day of non-padded drills for about an hour, then went to the sideline with his knee wrapped. When the two hours of workouts were over, Cribbs seemed to favor the leg somewhat as he jogged lightly to join his teammates for a meet-and-greet autograph session with fans. "I didn't want to press through it and risk missing a preseason game,'' Cribbs told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "If I was a young guy trying to make the team, maybe I wouldn't have come off, but I don't reallly know what's wrong. It's strained.'' He is expected to undergo exams.
Analysis: Cribbs has a good chance to be a big part of new coach Pat Shurmur's West Coast offense, and the minor injury is not believed to be anything serious for now. We won't be surprised if he sits out for precautionary reasons for the short term. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on Cribbs' status going forward, though he should be fine for the first preseason game. As far as Fantasy drafts are concerned, the dynamic and versatile Cribbs remains a late-round selection at best outside of leagues that reward return yards.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (foot) practiced in full on Friday and is officially listed as probable for Week 16 against the Ravens. Cribbs was able to practice in full for the first time on Thursday for the first time in more than two months.
Analysis: Cribbs has really been hampered by this foot injury lately, and the QB situation in Cleveland hasn't helped his cause either when he's stepped on the field offensively. Cribbs can't be trusted in Fantasy play just yet, but continue to stash him in deeper leagues that reward return yardage just in case he shows up in a big way on Sunday.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (foot) practiced in full Thursday for the first time in more than two months.
Analysis: Cribbs has really been hampered by this foot injury lately, and the QB situation in Cleveland hasn't helped his cause either when he's stepped on the field offensively. News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs was not much of a factor in Week 15 against the Bengals. He was targeted twice in the 19-17 loss, but finished with one reception for 4 yards. Cribbs also returned five kickoffs for a combined 87 yards in the contest.
Analysis: Cribbs hasn't seen a ton of action on offense lately because of a nagging foot injury and has caught a combined two passes for 11 yards over his last four contests. He is pretty much being limited to special teams and can be left on the bench heading into Week 16 against the Ravens.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (foot)has officially been ruled active for Week 15 against the Bengals. Cribbs has just one catch in his last three games.
Analysis: Cribbs hasn't seen a ton of action on offense lately because of a nagging foot injury. He is pretty much being limited to special teams and can be left on the bench for Sunday's matchup against the Bengals.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs finished with one catch for 7 yards and lost 11 yards on a fumbled end-around in a Week 14 loss to the Bills. Cribbs has just one catch in his last three games.
Analysis: Cribbs hasn't seen a ton of action on offense lately because of a nagging foot injury. He is pretty much being limited to special teams until he starts to improve. Don't bother with Cribbs in Fantasy. The Browns play the Bengals in Week 15.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (foot) was not listed among the inactives for Week 14 at Buffalo.
Analysis: Cribbs might not see much time on the offensive side of the ball Sunday, especially with the weather expected to be rainy. A slick field isn't great for anyone with a foot injury, so Cribbs is likely to only be used on special teams. Do not start him in Fantasy play in Week 14.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs (dislocated toes) talked about his injury has affecting his kick-returning prowess. "There are a lot of holes I'm missing because of the injury," he said. "I'm not able to press off and make cuts. I feel like I'm letting my teammates down." Cribbs has played the last two games despite the injury, but he remains questionable for Week 14 against the Bills.
Analysis: It's clear that the Browns are limiting Cribbs to mostly special teams until his foot heals. He has no catches in his last two games and is probably even overowned at 7 percent of Fantasy leagues. He is not worth using in standard Fantasy formats at this time, whether he plays or not.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (toe) practiced on a limited basis Thursday as Cleveland continued preparations for Week 14 at Buffalo. "Its not 100 percent by any stretch but its important for him to be out there and to help," said coach Eric Mangini. "Hes working through getting used to that and dealing with that.
Analysis: Cribbs was active in Week 13, but didn't get involved in the passing game. While he is certainly useful on special teams, his Fantasy value is really close to zero unless he's catching at least a few balls in the Browns offense. For now, continue to stash Cribbs away in leagues that reward return yardage.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (questionable, foot) will play in Week 13 against the Dolphins.
Analysis: Cribbs' dislocated toes have been bothering him for a couple of weeks now, but they might have healed up enough to allow him to catch a few passes from Jake Delhomme on Sunday in Florida. Still, Cribbs hasn't been the Fantasy spark many expected him to be in 2010, so he probably isn't worth using in anything but the deepest of Fantasy leagues for Week 13.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs (dislocated toes) practiced a little Friday, but wouldn't speculate on his availability for Sunday. He said he was feeling better and that he put more pressure on his foot in practice. He added that his pain tolerance will determine what he can do against the Dolphins in Week 13.

Still, Cribbs hasn't been the Fantasy spark many expected him to be in 2010, so he probably isn't worth using in anything but the deepest of Fantasy leagues for Week 13, if active.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (foot) remained unable to practice Thursday as Cleveland continued preparations for its Week 13 game at Miami.

Still, Cribbs hasn't been the Fantasy spark many expected him to be in 2010, so he probably isn't worth using in anything but the deepest of Fantasy leagues for Week 13, if active.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini said Wednesday he expects WR/KR Josh Cribbs (toes) to practice this week and will hopefully be able to play on offense Week 13 against the Dolphins. Cribbs did not practice Wednesday.

Still, Cribbs hasn't been the Fantasy spark many expected him to be in 2010, so he probably isn't worth using in anything but the deepest of Fantasy leagues for Week 13.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (dislocated toes) did not play on offense in a Week 12 win over Carolina, but he did make three punt returns and four kickoff returns. In the fourth quarter, he left the game, abandoning his special teams duties to RB Clifton Smith. Cribbs explained his departure, explaining, "There were windows I thought Clifton could exploit better than I could in my current condition."
Analysis: Cribbs has not produced much in recent weeks, and with his injured toes, he is just too risky to start in Fantasy. Leave him stashed or on waivers for Week 13.
News: WR Josh Cribbs was listed as active for Week 12 against Carolina. He missed Week 11's game at Jacksonville due to dislocated toes.
Analysis: It's not yet known how much the Browns plan on using Cribbs in Week 12, but between his injury and recent lack of production, he should be avoided in Fantasy. Cribbs has only five catches in the last five games that he has played.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini said he is "pretty optimistic" about WR Joshua Cribbs playing in the Week 12 game against Carolina. Cribbs missed last week's game with dislocated toes. The Browns listed him as questionable - a 50-50 chance of playing - on their injury report Friday.
Analysis: Cribbs had a couple of nice games in the first three weeks of his season, but with the QB trouble in Cleveland, he's disappeared since then. With Jake Delhomme taking snaps on Sunday vs. the Panthers, Cribbs could have a chance to put up better numbers if he was healthy, but that's no guarantee. Continue to stash him away in just the deepest of Fantasy formats.
News: For the second straight practice Thursday, Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs (foot) remained out of action as Cleveland prepares for its Week 12 game vs. Carolina.
Analysis: Cribbs had a couple of nice games in the first three weeks of his season, but with the QB trouble in Cleveland, he's disappeared since then. With Jake Delhomme likely taking snaps on Sunday vs. the Panthers, Cribbs could have a chance to put up better numbers if he was healthy, but that's no guarantee. Continue to stash him away in just the deepest of Fantasy formats.

News: As expected, Browns receiver/return specialist Josh Cribbs is inactive for Cleveland's Week 11 game at Jacksonville. He was listed as out on the injury report.
Analysis: Cribbs has seen very few opportunities this season and has only 17 receptions. He doesn't carry much value in many Fantasy formats and should be benched in all leagues for Week 11.
News: Browns receiver Josh Cribbs has been downgraded to out for Cleveland's Week 11 game at Jacksonville on Sunday. Cribbs, who dislocated several toes on his right foot during a loss to the Jets in Week 10, did not practice this week.
Analysis: Cribbs' production at WR has certainly been limited this season, especially in his last five games where he has caught just five passes total. With just 17 receptions for 235 yards this year, Cribbs really only possesses value in Fantasy leagues that award points for return yards. Keep him on the waiver wires in other Fantasy formats.
News: Browns wide receiver/return specialist Josh Cribbs did not practice again Friday, but Cleveland coach Eric Mangini has not yet ruled him out for Week 11 at Jacksonville. Cribbs dislocated three toes on his right foot in last week's overtime loss to the New York Jets. He has not practiced this week. Mangini has been optimistic about Cribbs' return, and said he will wait until Saturday before making a decision for the Jaguars game. Cribbs is listed as questionable for Sunday's game.
Analysis: Cribbs has played with injuries throughout his career, but this one seems a bit worse considering his skill set and how much he depends on his toes. Check back here on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET to see if Cribbs is active for this contest. When healthy, Cribbs is a low-end Fantasy option, but has more value in leagues that reward return yardage.
News: For the second straight day Thursday, Browns WR Josh Cribbs missed practice because of his dislocated toes. The team is preparing to face the Jaguars in Week 11. Cribbs said he would make it to the practice field at some point this week, but only Friday remains. Coach Eric Mangini said hell have a better sense tomorrow in regard to his availability Sunday in Jacksonville.
Analysis: Cribbs has played with injuries throughout his career, but this one seems a bit worse considering his skill set and how much he depends on his toes. Monitor Friday's practice situation and what he is listed as on the official injury report. When healthy, Cribbs is a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs was unable to practice on Wednesday due to his dislocated toes. He dislocated at least three of them on his right foot. The team in preparing for the game against the Jaguars in Week 11. On Tuesday, he said he would practice at some point during the week. The team signed accomplished KR Clifton Smith, which indicates the Browns are concerned about the status of Cribbs for Sunday. Smith led the NFL in 2009 by averaging 29.1 yards on kickoff returns and was a Pro Bowler with Tampa Bay in 2008.
Analysis: Cribbs has been a Fantasy disappointment, but the QB mess in Cleveland certainly hasn't helped his cause. If you're in a deeper league that rewards return yardage, Cribbs might still be worth using in Week 11 despite this painful injury, but there are certainly healthier options out there.
News: The Akron Beacon-Journal reports that, according to his agent, Browns WR Josh Cribbs will practice sometime this week despite dislocating at least three toes on his right foot. Cleveland plays at Jacksonville in Week 11.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs made only one catch in Week 10, but it was a big one. He made a 37-yard reception in the second quarter, which was the team's longest play from scrimmage, and it led to a Browns field goal. He got injured on the play, though, and left the game -- a 26-20 overtime loss to the Jets -- for good. The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting through a league source that Cribbs dislocated all the toes but the big one on his right foot, which precluded any opportunity for him to re-enter. Cribbs could still return next Sunday at Jacksonville.
Analysis: It's good news for Cribbs' owners that he could still return for Week 11, but even when healthy, he does not produce enough to merit an active roster spot in most leagues. Cribbs should only be active in very deep leagues, especially since the Browns don't have much of a passing game.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs left the Week 10 game against the Jets with a foot injury. He appeared to have sustained the injury on a 37-yard reception in the second quarter that led to a Browns field goal. According to Newsday, Cribbs went to the locker room to have his foot examined, and his return to the game is questionable.
Analysis: Cribbs had a big play in this game, but has not produced much for Fantasy this season. He could still have some value in deeper leagues, so owners in those formats need to track his status.
News: Only four teams have thrown the ball fewer times than the Browns, and WR Josh Cribbs has not been playing much of a role in a limited passing offense. He ranks just fifth on the team in receiving yardage (198) and fourth in receptions (16). The Browns will face the Jets, a team that has not been all that tough on wide receivers, in Week 10. The Jets rank sixth in the league in most Fantasy points allowed to wide receivers per game, but given Cribbs' modest track record, he will probably not be able to take advantage of the matchup.
Analysis: Cribbs has scored only one touchdown this season, and he has not had a Fantasy-worthy performance since Week 3 at Baltimore. He should only be active in the deepest of leagues for Week 10.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had a minimal impact in a Week 9 win over the Patriots. Cribbs caught two passes for 13 yards and ran twice for one yard. He did OK on kick returns, going twice for 51 yards.
Analysis: The Browns relied heavily on RB Peyton Hillis on Sunday, which led to a win but also resulted in the WRs putting up little of anything Fantasy-wise. Cribbs' value still lies in just leagues that reward return yardage and scores, so use him in very deep formats for Week 10 vs. the Jets.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, who took the bye week to rest up after sustaining a concussion in Week 6, has a good matchup in Week 9 against the Patriots. Wide receiver corps have averaged 23 Fantasy points a game vs. New England this season, and Percy Harvin -- a similar player to Cribbs -- went for 104 yards on six catches last week vs. the Pats.
Analysis: Cribbs had a couple of decent receiving outings earlier this season, but his Fantasy value still remains more in leagues that reward return yardage than anything. Unfortunately for Cribbs, the Patriots have been very good against punt returners this season, so the speedster might find special teams yards hard to come by. Even with this good matchup, owners should continue to view Cribbs as a low-end flex option in deeper Fantasy formats for Week 9.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs was able to dress in Week 7 against the Saints after suffering a helmet-to-helmet hit in Week 6 against the Steelers. Although, he didn't make much of an impact on offense. Cribbs finished with just one catch for 10 yards against New Orleans. It was his only target of the game.
Analysis: The Browns offense totaled 210 yards against New Orleans, including 85 passing. They won the game with defense and special teams. QB Colt McCoy, who was making his second career start, definitely played like a rookie in Week 7. The Browns have one of the worst passing offenses in the NFL, and no matter how much speed Cribbs has, if he can't get the ball, he can't make plays. Cribbs is not a good start in standard Fantasy formats until he posts some serious numbers on offense. The Browns don't play again until Week 9 against the Patriots.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, who left Week 6 with a concussion, is active for Week 7 at New Orleans. Cribbs missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before returning Friday.
Analysis: Coach Eric Mangini hinted Cribbs would be able to play in this game, so this news isn't a surprise. Cribbs is a handy player for the Browns, even lining up as the quarterback in the Wildcat formation, but he's not consistent enough statistically to use as more than a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini said Friday that WR Josh Cribbs (concussion) is on track to be able to play in Week 7 against the Saints. He does so many things, and he does so many things well that it creates a lot of options offensively, Mangini said of Cribbs, who practiced Friday. Obviously, his ability in the return game, that changes the way teams have to deal with us and thats a real plus. There are so many elements that he helps us. Its great to have him back. Cribbs is listed as probable.
Analysis: Cribbs was destroyed by James Harrison on Sunday, but he's been cleared to get back on the field, which is great news. What isn't great news for his owners is that the Saints are allowing WRs to average just 10 Fantasy points per game this season, which is the lowest in the NFL, so you might want to keep Cribbs benched in the deeper formats he has value in anyway.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (concussion) missed practice for a second straight day Thursday. Cleveland visits New Orleans in Week 7. Coach Eric Mangini said he hopes Cribbs can practice on Friday. Theyre both getting better, Browns coach Eric Mangini said Thursday about Cribbs and WR Mohamed Massaquoi, who is also recovering from a concussion. Hopefully, (Friday) well see them, but we just have to wait and see. Theyre here. Theyre working, studying, doing all that stuff.
Analysis: Cribbs was destroyed by James Harrison on Sunday, and he will have to pass a battery of tests before he's even allowed to step on the practice field this week. His chances of playing in Week 7 look remote at this point, so plan on benching him in Fantasy play for this matchup with the Saints. Even if he is healthy, the Saints are allowing WRs to average 10 Fantasy points per week, which is lowest in the NFL, so you wouldn't want to play Cribbs anyway.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, who got knocked out in a Week 6 loss to the Steelers, missed practice Wednesday as expected. Cleveland visits New Orleans in Week 7. Coach Eric Mangini spoke about Cribbs and fellow WR Mohamed Massaquoi, who was also knocked out with a concussion in Week 6. They are really in the first phase of it so thats where were at," Mangini said. "Its the same as its been for all the guys that have gone through this process so theyre in that same stage that the other guys who have had concussions are in. Id say (Thursday) we will know more and then Friday well have a much better sense of where things are.

His chances of playing in Week 7 look remote at this point, so plan on benching him in Fantasy play for this matchup with the Saints.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs left Week 6 against the Steelers after getting hit in the head on a helmet-to-helmet tackle. Cribbs was injured in the second quarter as he took a snap from the Wildcat formation. He fumbled on the play after the hit, but it was recovered by the Browns. He stayed down on the ground for a few minutes before walking off the field under his power. After pleading with the trainers to get back into the game, Cribbs walked to the locker room for further evaluation. He did not return. Cribbs had no catches in the game and had 2 yards on three carries. RB Peyton Hillis said he spoke with Cribbs and Mohamed Massaquoi, both of whom were knocked out of the game with hits to the head. "They both seemed fine," he said. "They were up and alert. Hopefully they can play next week."
Analysis: Cribbs had a lot of success against Pittsburgh in the Wildcat last season and Cleveland tried to use the same formation to its advantage in this matchup. Only it didn't work as well. The NFL is cracking down on players that suffer head injuries, so Cribbs is likely going to have to pass a slew of medical tests before returning to action. Cribbs is an explosive player, but he is usually is better on special teams than offense. Cribbs is mostly a low-end Fantasy option when healthy. Keep track of his progress leading up to Week 7 against the Saints.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (ankle), who was listed as probable for Week 6 at the Steelers, will play on Sunday as he was not among the inactives. Over the course of his career, most of Cribbs' numbers against Pittsburgh have come on the ground . Cribbs has a career-high 17 carries for 144 yards in 10 career games against them but has just two catches for 16 yards in that span. He had two of the best games of his career against Pittsburgh last season, totaling 14 carries for 132 yards and one touchdown. The Browns might ask for Cribbs to work out of the Wildcat a lot against the Steelers to help take some pressure off of rookie QB Colt McCoy, who will likely make his NFL debut in the matchup.
Analysis: Cribbs continues to be miscast as a receiver when his greatest benefit to the offense is as a Wildcat quarterback. Cribbs runs well, and can complete a pass if asked to do so (he played QB in college). He seemed to thrive rushing the football against Pittsburgh last season, so that is where he might gain some yards in Week 6. However, it probably won't be enough to factor in Fantasy. Cribbs remains a risky start for Week 6.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday with an ankle injury that has put him on the team's practice report for a couple of weeks now. He was able to practice in full participation on Friday and is officially listed as probable for Sunday. He has yet to miss a game even though the ankle has plagued him for several weeks, and the team desperately needs him to play at Pittsburgh in Week 6. Over the course of his career, most of Cribbs' numbers have come on the ground against Pittsburgh. Cribbs has a career-high 17 carries for 144 yards in 10 career games against Pittsburgh. News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs was limited in practice again Thursday with an ankle injury that has put him on the team's practice report for a couple of weeks now. He was limited Wednesday as well; however, he has yet to miss a game, and the team desperately needs him to play at Pittsburgh in Week 6. Over the course of his career, most of Cribbs' numbers have come on the ground against Pittsburgh. Cribbs has a career-high 17 carries for 144 yards in 10 career games against Pittsburgh. News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had his worst game of the season catching passes in Week 5 against the Falcons (one reception for 8 yards) and looks to get back on track in Week 6 against the Steelers. However, most of Cribbs' numbers have come on the ground against Pittsburgh. Cribbs has a career-high 17 carries for 144 yards in 10 career games against Pittsburgh. He has just two catches for 16 yards in that span. He had two of the best games of his career against Pittsburgh last season, totaling 14 carries for 132 yards and one touchdown.

News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs again got some time at quarterback Week 5 against the Falcons, taking four direct snaps. He ran or handed off on three of them but also completed a 10-yard pass, making him 2 for 2 on the season. He finished with two carries for 11 yards and one catch for 8.
Analysis: Cribbs entered the game with 12 receptions, tops among the team's wide receivers, but he clearly wasn't as much of a factor in the passing game this week. Then again, he was targeted five times, so it's not like the Browns weren't trying to get him the ball. Still, the Browns have enough viable receiving options in Benjamin Watson, Mohamed Massaquoi and Chansi Stuckey that Cribbs likely won't ever get a chance to make a huge contribution in Fantasy. You can leave him for deeper leagues when the Browns visit the Steelers in Week 6.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, who was limited in practice this week by an ankle injury, is active for Week 5 against the Falcons. He has dealt with the injury for three weeks but has yet to miss a game.
Analysis: Cribbs isn't your usual wide receiver. He mostly catches screen passes and tries to make things happen with his legs. Still, he's a more consistent part of the passing game than most of the Browns' wide receivers. If you have a need in a deeper league, he's safe to start this week.
News: The Browns upgraded WR/KR Josh Cribbs (ankle) from questionable to probable for Week 5 against the Falcons. Cribbs has dealt with the ankle injury for the last three weeks, but has not missed any time on game day. The Falcons sport a pass defense that ranks 18th in the NFL, allowing 224 yards per game.
Analysis: Cribbs has not missed a beat while dealing with this injury and will continue to run the Wildcat, catch short screens and try to provide a spark in the return game. The Falcons have allowed two WRs to eclipse the 100-yard mark in four games. Still, Cribbs should get several touches from all over the field as usual. Consider him a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 5.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (ankle) was limited in Thursday's practice in preparation for Week 5 against Atlanta. He has now been limited two days in a row. Cribbs has dealt with the ankle injury for the last three weeks, but has not missed any time on game day. The Falcons sport a pass defense that ranks 18th in the NFL, allowing 224 yards per game.
Analysis: The ankle has bothered him for nearly a month, and Cribbs has not missed a beat. We expect him to play Week 5 against the Falcons in the same capacity as Week 4. Cribbs will continue to run the Wildcat, catch short screens and try to provide a spark in the return game. The Falcons have allowed two WRs to eclipse the 100-yard mark in four games. Still, Cribbs should get several touches from all over the field as usual. Consider him a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 5.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice in preparation for Week 5 against Atlanta. He has been dealing with the ankle injury for the last three weeks, but has not missed any time on game day. The Falcons sport a pass defense that ranks 18th in the NFL, allowing 224 yards per game.
Analysis: We do not expect the ankle issue to keep Cribbs out of Sunday's game. He has been limited in practice in the last few weeks, but has still managed to run the team's version of the Wildcat and his duties usual duties at WR and kick returner have not taken a hit. The Falcons have allowed two WRs to eclipse the 100-yard mark in four games. Still, Cribbs should get several touches from all over the field as usual. Consider him a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 5.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had three carries for 9 yards out of the team's Wildcat formation and added two catches for 24 yards in Week 4 vs. Cincinnati.
Analysis: Cribbs' numbers are disappointing considering how big of a role he had carved out for himself in the offense over the previous two weeks. Expect him to rebound in Week 5 vs. Atlanta, though that doesn't mean he'll be worth starting.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs has been pretty good on offense so far this season, catching 10 passes for a team-high 143 yards with a touchdown and 32 rush yards on six tries. He even has a 9-yard pass to his credit. But even if he continues to be the Browns' most productive WR, head coach Eric Mangini said that his reps as a kickoff or punt returner will not be scaled back. Cribbs will face the Bengals in Week 4, a team ranked 13th against the pass. "If he needs a breather, he can get it on offense," Mangini said Wednesday. Cribbs has been limited in practice with an ankle injury but he's expected to play on Sunday.
Analysis: Cribbs' history against the Bengals is non-descript on offense -- he doesn't own a touchdown in his last five games and has never had more than three catches or five carries in any of those matchups. Chances are you should look elsewhere for Fantasy help in Week 4 unless Cribbs' return yardage can help your team score some points.
News: Becoming more of a receiver with each successive game, Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs was targeted eight times and made five grabs in the Week 3 loss at Baltimore. Cribbs led the team in receiving yards with 58 and also rushed twice out of the wildcat formation for 20 yards. Cribbs left M&T Bank Stadium wearing a walking boot on his left foot. Cribbs injured his ankle during practice on Wednesday. It is not known at what point Cribbs was injured during the game but he did not leave at any point.
Analysis: Cribbs, who was likely wearing the walking boot as more of a precaution and should be able to play Week 4, has improved his catch total with each successive game and now has 10 catches on the season for 143 yards and a touchdown. The all-purpose offensive weapon has also rushed six times for 32 yards on the year. Cribbs is still not a receiver to be counted upon for consistent Fantasy production heading into Week 4 against the Bengals. We wouldn't suggest his Fantasy use as anything better than a flex option, especially since he's not 100 percent healthy.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs will start Week 3 at Baltimore despite his ankle injury. He was downgraded to questionable on Saturday, but will start at WR for the inactive WR Brian Robiskie.
Analysis: Worry increased as Cribbs was downgraded with a tweaked ankle. Initially, the severity of the injury was not known. Still, against the stingy Ravens defense, consider Cribbs a low-end Fantasy WR.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs (ankle) is now listed as questionable for Week 3 at Baltimore. Friday, Cribbs appeared as probable despite his tweaked ankle. He has five catches for 82 yards and a touchdown in two games.
Analysis: The downgrade indicates the ankle tweak was more severe than it appeared to be Friday. Cribbs did not mention any increased worry when was quoted in the Cleveland Plain Dealer. In fact, Cribbs spoke about his role more than likely increasing on Sunday. "Oh yeah, it's an opportunity for me to just hone in more on my receiving skills," Cribbs said. "More is expected out of me and I'll do my best to try to do more and make more plays." Even if he does play, we don't see him as a high value WRr against the Ravens. Consider him a low-end Fantasy WR if healthy.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs surfaced on the team's injury report on Friday with an ankle tweak. While the severity of it is unknown, the belief is that he'll play in Week 3 at Baltimore because the team listed him as probable for the game.
Analysis: Cribbs caught just two passes for 12 yards in two games against the Ravens last season and is still largely unproven as a receiver in the NFL. Making matters worse is that Baltimore has allowed just 170 receiving yards to the position against the Jets and Bengals and has not allowed a touchdown to a wide receiver yet this year. In fact, Jets wideouts managed just three catches for 27 yards against the Ravens Week 1. We don't see him doing much in the passing game Week 3 and consider him just a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs comes into the Week 3 game in Baltimore coming off an exciting performance against the Chiefs that allowed him to showcase his abilities as a wide receiver. Cribbs caught three passes for 74 yards, including a breakaway touchdown catch-and-run play. He's going to have a hard time improving on that against a team that has allowed the third-fewest amount of Fantasy points to wide receivers over the first two weeks of the season. Baltimore has allowed just 170 receiving yards to the position against the Jets and Bengals and has not allowed a touchdown to a wide receiver yet this year. In fact, Jets wideouts managed just three catches for 27 yards against the Ravens Week 1.
Analysis: The Bengals targeted receivers 26 times in the Week 2 game against Baltimore and only connected for 12 receptions. The Browns are not nearly as advanced offensively as the Jets or Bengals so there is no reason to believe that Cleveland will be able to get anything going through the air, especially with an uncertain quarterback situation due to Jake Delhomme's health and Seneca Wallace's ability. Cribbs caught just two passes for 12 yards in two games against the Ravens last season and is still largely unproven as a receiver in the NFL. We don't see him doing much in the passing game Week 3 and consider him just a low-end Fantasy option.
News: The Browns have been waiting two years for Josh Cribbs to make a big play as a wide receiver. During the Week 2 loss to the Chiefs, he finally did just that. Cribbs gained a step on cornerback Brandon Carr and Seneca Wallace hit him for a 65-yard TD reception. Cribbs made a nifty over-the-shoulder catch and it was off to the races after that. "They thought we were going to run the ball, and I just played pitch-and-catch with Seneca (Wallace)," Cribbs said of the play. "We did it in a game just as we did it in practice."
Analysis: The Browns had visions of a play like this dancing in their minds when they made Cribbs an offensive option. Still, he managed just two catches in Week 1 for 11 yards and only had two other receptions for 9 more yards in the Week 2 loss. Cribbs broke loose for an exciting touchdown but we dare him to do it again. We don't believe he will against the Ravens in Baltimore. Cribbs should not be starting offensively for your Fantasy team in Week 3.
News: Cleveland WR/KR Josh Cribbs caught three passes Week 1 against the Bucs. He also rushed three times and even threw a pass in the game. He returned three punts for 29 total yards and three kickoffs for 46 total yards. Cribbs, offensively, racked up just 22 yards, however, and that is how he's expected to be used in the Cleveland offense. That said, when the Browns played the Chiefs last season in Week 15, Cribbs returned a 100-yard and a 103-yard kick for touchdowns, becoming the second player in NFL history with two touchdowns of at least 100 yards in the same game joining Ted Ginn.
Analysis: Cribbs would need lightning to strike twice on Sunday to return two kickoffs for touchdowns again against the Chiefs. Since lightning doesn't strike twice, Cribbs is not expected to go wild on returns. He is going to continue to see loads of action all over the football field only to disappoint with few Fantasy points at the end of the day. Cribbs is really only a viable Fantasy option in leagues that reward for kick and punt returns.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs caught three passes for 11 yards in Week 1 at Tampa Bay. His longest catch went for eight yards. Cribbs was targeted six times, tied for the team lead. Cribbs also rushed three times for 11 yards and even completed a 9-yard pass. He returned three punts for 29 total yards and three kickoffs for 46 total yards.
Analysis: Cribbs got the start at WR for the Browns, who have said they intend to make him more of a part of their offense this season. That was clearly evident against the Buccaneers, but he once again looked like a jack of all trades and master of none. His biggest asset to Fantasy owners in the past has been his kick return ability and there was some talk that the Browns would take that away from him in order to allow him to concentrate on his offensive duties. That wasn't the case in Week 1, allowing him to keep some measure of value in those leagues. As a pure receiver, however, he still has some work to do. Cribbs is a home run threat every time he touches the ball, but starting him can be like trying to catch lightning in a bottle and we don't recommend playing that way until the bye weeks come around. Avoid activating Cribbs in Week 2 against Kansas City, though he is worth watching.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1. A highly touted kick returner throughout much of his NFL career, Browns coach Eric Mangini has relieved him of his returning duties in order to allow him to focus more on his responsibilities as a receiver. However, he is expected to be behind Mohamed Massaquoi and Brian Robiskie in the pecking order going into the regular season.
Analysis: The Buccaneers present a formidable first test for a relatively unknown passing offense in Cleveland, led by new QB Jake Delhomme. They finished last season ranked 10th against the pass, allowing 207.4 yards per game. While we do expect Cribbs to expand his role as a receiver this season in his first year in a receiver-first mentality, we aren't close to ready to proclaim him a reliable starter in any Fantasy format. In fact, now that his biggest asset to Fantasy owners has been taken away, he is a player who should be on the waiver wire in most formats. Monitor him in the early going to see if he can beat out Robiskie for looks.
News:The Sports Xchange reports with the way Josh Cribbs has improved dramatically as a pass receiver, there is no doubt offensive coordinator Brian Daboll will incorporate the Browns' special teams star into the offense when Jake Delhomme is at quarterback. Cribbs worked with Seneca Wallace early in training camp. He started spending time with the first-team offense before the second preseason game while Mohamed Massaquoi mended from a hamstring injury. Cribbs continued getting reps with the first unit when Massaquoi improved. He could be an integral part of the red-zone offense this year. "Josh is getting better as a receiver and I thought he did good things as a receiver last year," coach Eric Mangini said. "I think he's continuing to improve in that role."
Analysis: Cribbs caught three passes in the third preseason game of the summer, a 35-27 loss to the Lions. One was an acrobatic grab on the left sideline to set up a one-yard touchdown run by Peyton Hillis. "The more you can do, the more valuable you are to the football team," Cribbs said. "Getting the ball in my hands is one thing. Seeing what I do after that is another." Cribbs said he is better as a receiver because he is getting more opportunities than before, but there is more to it than that. A more experienced Brian Robiskie and Massaquoi, an established tight end in Ben Watson, the steady hands of Delhomme and Wallace plus the ever-improving Cribbs should make the offense more potent than it was last year when they scored 11 passing touchdowns. Cribbs is much like Bears WR Devin Hester. He cut his teeth on special teams and now is getting looks at receiver. Cribbs could have a breakout season, if he gets enough targets, but that is a big if. Cribbs remains just a late-round Fantasy sleeper in deeper formats.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs played well in Saturday's preseason game at Detroit. Cribbs had three catches for 47 yards and now has eight catches for 77 yards and a touchdown in his past two preseason games. He also had two punt returns for 11 yards and three kickoff returns for 82 yards, including one for 38 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs will play a variety of roles for the Browns -- return man, Wildcat QB and WR -- and in deep formats he could be worth a late-round pick. He should be considered a mid-round selection in leagues that reward points for return yards, and he's someone to put on your radar heading into 2010. Remember, the Browns have limited weapons in their WR corps, and Cribbs could play big this year if he's given enough targets.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs started Saturday's preseason game against the Rams in the absence of Mohamed Massaquoi, who sat out because of a hamstring injury. Cribbs was frequently targeted by both Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace, catching five passes for 30 yards in just over a half of play, hooking up with Wallace for a 15-yard touchdown pass. "I just want them to feed me the rock," he said. "I mess with the quarterbacks a lot, but I have improved my fundamentals." Cribbs also returned one punt and a pair of kickoffs.
Analysis: Cribbs had a fine performance in rainy conditions. While he may only the the Browns' No. 3 or No. 4 WR, he will touch the ball a lot. Expect him to return punts and kicks and be used out of the backfield at times as well. His highest Fantasy value lies in leagues that reward return yardage, but he's worth a flier in standard formats because his physical ability gives him the chance to get into the end zone if he's given opportunities.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini said Thursday he's still trying to figure out what role WR Josh Cribbs will play on offense this year. "I probably will have a better idea about that in a couple of weeks," Mangini said. "Right now, we are still going through and figuring out what we really like him on. What role is he going to play as a receiver? If we do that, how is that going to affect the coverage teams? All of those things, we are going to have to work out in the next few weeks."
Analysis: Cribbs' best attribute to the Browns is on special teams, but he has potential to be a decent Fantasy reserve if he can get more touches on offense. The Browns need weapons at receiver with Mohamed Massaquoi and Brian Robiskie expected to be the top two players on the depth chart. Continue to monitor Cribbs during training camp, but he could be worth a late-round pick on Draft Day in deep leagues.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, known more for his return skills than his receiving game, is excited about the improvements he's made on offense during training camp. "I'm more hungry for the ball," Cribbs said. "I'm working well with Seneca [Wallace] and now I need to get into [starter] Jake [Delhomme's] head, develop a rapport with him, and let him know I want the football."
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs said in an interview with CBSSports.com that he's looking forward to spending more time on offense in 2010 -- no matter what team he plays for. Cribbs was unhappy with his contract in 2009, but new Browns president Mike Holmgren wants Cribbs back in Cleveland. That's fine by Cribbs as long as he gets paid and gets to touch the ball more often. "I played the role of the X-factor -- a guy that can come in and change the football game," Cribbs said. "I did everything that was needed. I played a lot of Wildcat, quarterback, running back, wide receiver and produced heavily at it. If teams had trouble against the Wildcat, we ran it a bunch of times. If they had trouble with me in the slot, we kept running it. Whatever worked for us, we just left it out there for teams to try to handle it. I enjoy doing it. I hope coach makes it a permanent part of our offense. Defenses have a lot more to cover now. It would be a great addition to any team."
Analysis: Cribbs' best attribute to the Browns is on special teams, but he has potential to be a decent Fantasy reserve if he can get more touches on offense. See what happens with Cribbs in the offseason and if he returns to the Browns, but also keep an eye on what his role will be on offense. If he comes back to Cleveland and coach Eric Mangini guarantees more touches then he could be worth a late-round pick in standard formats.
News: New Browns President Mike Holmgren remains optimistic the team can work out a new contract with Pro Bowl return specialist Josh Cribbs and have him back for the long term. Cribbs wants a new deal after setting NFL records for kickoff returns for touchdowns in 2009 and taking on an expanded role in the offense. Cribbs said he was insulted by the team's last offer, and along with agents, went public with their beef with the Browns. Cribbs has threatened to sit out next season if the Browns don't reward him. He has three years left on a six-year, $6.77 million deal. "We would like Josh here," Holmgren said. "He's a part of the Browns and a wonderful player for us. He's got three years left on his current contract. It's almost unprecedented to change that in this business. Everybody, I think, wants this to work out. We're looking at ways to change what's going on with Josh and the offer."
Analysis: Cribbs really has no other option but to sit out in 2010, and that's something football players don't really ever do when given the chance to play. Expect Cribbs to possibly hold out through training camp but ultimately play next season. He's worth a late-round flier in standard leagues on the whim that he sees an even larger role on offense next year and is a middle- to late-round pick in leagues that reward return yardage.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs had six carries for 47 yards and a touchdown Sunday against Jacksonville. He also added two kickoff returns for 40 yards and three punt returns for 18 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs will likely return to Cleveland in 2010, but his status in the offseason is something to monitor. But no matter what happens with Cribbs next year, he has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues. At best, Cribbs will be a reserve in most Fantasy formats, so don't plan on drafting him in 2010.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs did not catch a pass in Week 16 against the Raiders, but he did get four carries for 21 yards. He also returned one kickoff for 27 yards and four punts for a total of 5 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs remains used mostly in leagues that reward kick return yardage as his role in the offense remains minimal. The Browns face the Jaguars in Week 17.
News: In the Browns' Week 15 win at the Chiefs, Joshua Cribbs missed on one pass attempt, rushed three times for 8 yards and caught one pass for 3 yards. However, he also contributed two kickoff returns of 100 and 103 yards for touchdowns, good for 12 of the Browns' 41-point outburst. The first kickoff return for a touchdown broke the NFL mark for most in a career with seven, and the second one extended it to eight.
Analysis: There was talk all week that Cribbs would get a look at running back but barely saw offensive reps. Instead, the rushing workload went to Jerome Harrison, who looked good early and wound up running for the third-best rushing total in NFL history. Cribbs is clearly talented as a kickoff returner and will remain in that role for the Browns. Only start him in Week 16 vs. Oakland if you get credit for his return yardage and touchdowns.
News: Browns head coach Eric Mangini wouldn't reveal how he would use his running backs, including WR Josh Cribbs, against the Chiefs in Week 15. "There's a plan going into the game, and then we evaluate it during the game to see who's being more effective, which types of runs are being more effective," he said Friday, not tipping his hand. Cribbs had eight carries for 87 yards last week against the Steelers and will reportedly get more playing time this week against the Chiefs as the Wildcat formation quarterback. He's listed as probable with an ankle tweak. Mangini did heap praise on Cribbs Friday and establish his value when he is on the field. "I thought that he was very effective last week," Mangini said. "The other nice thing about Josh is, anytime he is in there, if he is in a different spot than say the Wildcat position, there is always a threat. ... Even if he is not getting the ball, having him there and having him there in a capacity where he can actually run a standard play is important. You want to be able to put your normal offense out there and run those plays, so that every time he is in they can't check the defense."
Analysis: Cribbs is such an intriguing option because he'll carry the ball against a bad Chiefs run defense, but there's no guarantee of how many touches he'll get. Thus, between him, Chris Jennings and Jerome Harrison, no running back in Cleveland is any better than a No. 3 option. But there's a wrinkle here: Cribbs can start as a receiver in Fantasy Football. If he can touch the ball as much as a running back who splits reps, then surely he'll have a shot to produce some totals with outstanding upside. If you own Jennings, figure him to be a No. 3 RB or flex option; if you own Cribbs, consider him a low-end No. 3 receiver or flex option; if you own Jerome Harrison, consider other options since for now it seems like he's the odd man out of the rotation.
News:Josh Cribbs hopes his patience is finally going to pay off in a big way. Cribbs had expressed optimism this week that he'd get a new deal with the Browns. On Thursday, he told The Associated Press why he was encouraged: Cribbs said the Browns told him during the team's bye week they want to have a new contract in place by the end of the season, ending what has been a sticky negotiation since training camp. "They told me they wanted to do something before the year was over," Cribbs said. "Coach (Eric) Mangini has been optimistic about it as well. He's told me directly I deserve a new contract and he would work to get it done." Cribbs wouldn't say specifically who told him the deal could be finalized by the end of the season, only that it happened while the Browns were off the weekend of Nov. 8. In their first game following the open week, Cribbs was carted off the field on a stretcher following the final play of the team's loss to Baltimore on Monday Night Football. He said then that the entire situation increased his urgency to get a new deal done.
Analysis: Cribbs has three years left on his existing deal, which pays him $6.77 million over six years, but believes he merits a raise now. By far the most dynamic player on the Browns roster, Cribbs has blossomed into an integral part of the offense after building a reputation as a special teams star his first four years in the NFL. Mangini on Thursday again declined to offer a timeline to complete a new deal, but reiterated his admiration for a player who is quickly becoming the team's MVP. "I really like Josh. I really do, not just as a player, but as a person, as a part of the organization, his dedication, his sacrifice," Mangini said. "He is selfless." Cribbs has 82 career carries for 544 yards (6.6 avg.) with a touchdown on the ground, and those numbers actually pale in comparison to his career receiving totals (35 catches, 285 yards, two touchdowns). Cribbs is believed to be under consideration to play more at running back in Week 15 against the Chiefs, though it's unknown if his ankle injury will keep him from doing so on a consistent basis. Cribbs is more of a flex option start for Week 15.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs took it easy in practice Wednesday, staying limited in his reps with an ankle injury. Cribbs is believed to be under consideration to play more at running back this week against the Chiefs, though it's unknown if his ankle injury will keep him from doing so on a consistent basis. Cribbs also returns kickoffs and punts, plays gunner on special teams and lines up at wide receiver and as the Wildcat quarterback.
Analysis: Cribbs has 82 career carries for 544 yards (6.6 avg.) with a touchdown on the ground, and those numbers actually pale in comparison to his career receiving totals (35 catches, 285 yards, two touchdowns). With Cribbs owned in just 4 percent of CBSSports.com leagues, it's not a bad idea at all to take a flier on him on the hope that he lands some playing time as a running back. Fantasy owners can only start him as a receiver or flex option, but that could work out just fine since they could potentially get some running back-like stats from a receiver. We'll keep you posted on this development, but be sure to pick up Cribbs off waivers.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini said he's willing to explore using Josh Cribbs, Cleveland's versatile playmaker, more in a traditional running back role. Cribbs ran for 87 yards out of the Wildcat formation in last Thursday's win over the Steelers, who came in with the NFL's top-ranked rushing defense. Cribbs also returns kickoffs and punts, plays gunner on special teams and lines up at wide receiver.

News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs was the teams leading rusher on Thursday in a Week 14 win over the Steelers. Cribbs rushed for 87 yards out of the Wildcat formation on eight attempts. He also caught one pass for 9 yards and racked up 104 return yards. His eight rushing attempts were the most he had been given all season.
Analysis: Cribbs performance was unexpectedly strong as the Browns relied heavily on the Wildcat formation with Jamal Lewis out for the year and the weather conditions in Cleveland favoring the run. He is still not a featured part of the Browns aerial attack, but Cribbs Fantasy value should go up slightly after this performance. The weather conditions at Kansas City in Week 15 could also give the Browns reason to get Cribbs heavily involved in the offense via the Wildcat. He could be worth taking a flier on in deeper formats but little else as it is hard to believe he will replicate this performance again.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had 38 yards on four carries, including a 30-yard carry, Week 13 against the Chargers. He also caught a six-yard pass.
Analysis: Cribbs has gotten a few more carries recently, but he still gets minimal touches as a gadget player. Leave him on waivers for Week 14 against the Steelers.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had three catches for 7 yards in Week 12 at Cincinnati. He also rushed once for no gain and completed a pass for 18 yards to QB Brady Quinn.
Analysis: The Browns try to get Cribbs involved from time to time for his speed, but his upside is most in leagues where you are rewarded for his kick return yardage. We don't recommend starting him as a typical Fantasy WR for Week 13 against San Diego.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs took some Wildcat snaps on Sunday in a Week 11 loss to the Lions. He carried the ball four times in the game, gaining a total of 16 yards. He also caught a TD pass in the game, making two total grabs for 39 yards. It was his first TD reception of the season.
Analysis: Cribbs has big play potential but has not been too effective in the Browns offense so far this season. He came into Week 11 with only 12 receptions and 71 receiving yards and 25 carries for 164 yards. Cribbs suffered a scary-looking neck injury in Week 10 against the Ravens on the last play of the game but was fortunately able to play Week 11. However, Cribbs is still just a low-end option for Week 12 at Cincinnati. Back in Week 4 vs. the Bengals, Cribbs had one carry for 15 yards and one reception for 5 yards.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs will play at Detroit in Week 11. Cribbs was injured on the last play of Monday's game vs. Baltimore and was taken to a Cleveland hospital for further evaluation of his neck. He was cleared to practice earlier this week.
Analysis: Cribbs doesn't produce enough stats on offense to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him out of active lineups this Sunday, especially since there could be some concern by the Browns coaches on how much to use him following his injury.
News:Josh Cribbs' neck is still a little sore, but he said Friday he expects to play in the Cleveland Browns' game at Detroit on Sunday, which will be six days after he was strapped to a backboard and wheeled into an ambulance following a loss to the Ravens on Monday night. Browns coach Eric Mangini said he also expects Cribbs to play. He's listed as questionable.
Analysis: Cribbs won't produce enough stats on a regular basis to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off rosters for now.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs is satisfied that Ravens defensive end Dwan Edwards did not deliver a cheap shot on him in the closing seconds of Monday night's game. Cribbs, who was briefly hospitalized with a possible neck injury and concussion, said he spoke to Edwards and few other Ravens players on Tuesday. Cribbs was being held out of practice on Wednesday. He hopes to play Sunday against Detroit.
Analysis: Cribbs won't produce enough stats on a regular basis to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off rosters for now.
News: The Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports Browns WR Josh Cribbs was released from the hospital Tuesday and is doing well after he was hurt on the final play Monday night against Baltimore. The Browns said precautionery tests were negative. Cribbs, who was immobilized on a board and taken by ambulance to the hospital, underwent a series of tests, including some to determine whether he had suffered a concussion.
Analysis: It appears like Cribbs should be OK, and he might be able to return for Sunday's game at Detroit. Keep an eye on his status even though he has minimal Fantasy value as a receiver. Cribbs is best suited for leagues where you get points for return yards, and he's a big asset for the Browns DST and ST units.
News: Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs was taken to a hospital for further tests after being injured on a hard hit on the final play of Baltimore's 16-0 win over Cleveland on Monday night. Cribbs caught a pass from Brady Quinn on the final play and lateraled to Robert Royal. Following the pitch, Cribbs was hit near midfield by defensive end Dwan Edwards. As Cribbs was on the field, players from both teams knelt in prayer around him. After he was treated by Cleveland trainers, he was put on a stretcher and driven to the locker room. Cribbs was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Browns coach Eric Mangini said Cribbs had movement and feeling in all parts of his body when he left the stadium. Cribbs rushed out of the wildcat formation six times on Monday night for a total of 34 rushing yards before getting hurt. He added that one catch for 10 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs brings that wow factor to the table and is an explosive and exciting football player. That said, he remains part of the Browns offense and that never bodes well for Fantasy value. Cribbs is still not worth using in Fantasy play for Week 11 at Detroit. Monitor this injury for the Week 11 game but it really doesn't matter as he's not really a viable Fantasy option.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs was given six rushing attempts out of the Wildcat on Sunday in the team's Week 8 game against the Bears. He gained a total of 28 yards in the game with a long of 13 yards. He also caught one pass for a total of 23 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs could have increased Fantasy value if he continues to run plays out of the Wildcat, although the Browns have not been too successful at it so far this season. Keep thinking of Cribbs as just a low-end Fantasy WR. The Browns are off Week 9 then take on the Ravens Week 10.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs did little in the offensive game against the Packers in Week 7. Cribbs only saw two offensive touches. He ran the ball for 1 yard on one carry and caught one pass for minus-1 yards. Cribbs also lost a fumble in the game.
Analysis: Cribbs picked up his first reception since Week 4 but it went nowhere. The Browns offense is too inefficient for Cribbs to be able to use his speed and elusiveness for good. He remains nothing but a solid return man. We do not recommend his Fantasy use Week 8 at Chicago.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs (knee) is active for Week 7 against the Packers.
Analysis: Cribbs was just about the only player to do anything against the Steelers in Week 6 and the team tried to get him the ball as much as possible. They didn't get him the ball as a receiver, but did have several designed runs for him. He remains a player who should only be owned in leagues that reward his excellent kick return skills. Don't use him in Fantasy otherwise.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs (knee) was able to practice in a limited fashion all week as the team prepares for its Week 7 game against the Packers. He is considered questionable for the contest.
Analysis: Cribbs was just about the only player to do anything against the Steelers in Week 6 and the team tried to get him the ball as much as possible. They didn't get him the ball as a receiver, but did have several designed runs for him. He remains a player who should only be owned in leagues that reward his excellent kick return skills if he is able to go in Week 7. Monitor his status this weekend before making a decision on him in deeper formats.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown in Week 6 at Pittsburgh. It was team-record eighth kick return score. He also led the Browns in rushing with six carries for 45 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs was just about the only player to do anything against the Browns in Week 6 and the team tried to get him the ball as much as possible. They didn't get him the ball as a receiver, but did have several designed runs for him. He remains a player who should only be owned in leagues that reward his excellent kick return skills.
News: Browns head coach Eric Mangini ruled out trading WR Josh Cribbs before Tuesday's trade deadline. The team has "no interest in moving Josh Cribbs," the coach said Thursday. Rumor had it that the Dolphins were interested.
Analysis: Cribbs should continue to sit in Cleveland and produce minimal stats. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs made no catches against the Bills in Week 5, but he did have one carry. It was good for 31 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs hasn't been touching the ball enough to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of rosters. The Browns play at the Steelers in Week 6.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs made one catch for 5 yards and added a run for a total of 15 yards on Sunday in the team's Week 4 game against the Bengals.
Analysis: Cribbs is an exceptional kick returned but not an integral part of the team's offensive attack. Cribbs remains just a low-end Fantasy options for the team's Week 5 game at Buffalo.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs made one catch for two yards in a 34-3 loss to the Ravens. Cribbs returned six kicks and two punts in the game as well.
Analysis: Cribbs is pretty much just a return specialist with the Browns and does little offensively. The Browns' offense has been horrible to start the season but Cribbs could have a bit more success if Derek Anderson takes over as the starting QB. Keep thinking of Cribbs as just a low-end Fantasy option for Week 4's game against the Bengals.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs had a relatively quiet game on Sunday in Week 2 at Denver in a 27-6 loss. Cribbs caught five passes in the game for a total of 22 yards. He also carried the ball once for four yards. Cribbs also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Cribbs returned a punt for a touchdown Week 1, with kick returning being his main purpose with the Browns. He is not the top receiving option in Cleveland and is hardly worth using. He should be avoided Week 3 as well as the Browns take on the Ravens.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs will face a non-division opponent in Week 2 at Denver. The Broncos allowed 221 net yards passing in Week 1 at Cincinnati without giving up a passing touchdown. Cribbs returned a punt 67 yards for a touchdown in Week 1 against Minnesota. He also rushed three times for six yards and caught two passes for 10 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs is not featured in the pass offense as a regular receiver, but the Browns do look to get him involved in the offense from time to time to utilize his speed. He has touchdown potential every time he touches the ball, but is more useful in Fantasy leagues that reward kick return yardage than in standard formats. He is a real low-end option for Week 2.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs returned a punt 67 yards for a touchdown in Week 1 against Minnesota. He also rushed three times for six yards and caught two passes for 10 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs has blazing speed and provides that element to the Cleveland offense from time to time. However, he just useful in leagues that reward return yardage as his role in the offense is erratic. We don't recommend activating Cribbs for Week 2 at Denver.
News: Through two preseason games, WR/KR Josh Cribbs is leading all Browns with 50 receiving yards on three receptions while seeing relevant playing time with the first-team offense. He's also had a 29-yard run, an 84-yard punt return for a touchdown and a 95-yard kickoff return that would have been good for a touchdown if not for a penalty. Cribbs is currently listed with the second-team offense on the Browns' official depth chart.
Analysis: Cribbs is being given a chance to play receiver and has shown off his athleticism thus far. With rookies Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi slipping, Cribbs should challenge for relevant playing time. With his speed and physical nature, he could really be a surprise for the Browns this season. He's worth a late-round pick in deeper standard drafts but obviously is worth a middle- to late-round choice in leagues that reward special-teams yardage.
News: The Browns are looking for a No. 2 WR behind Braylon Edwards, and several players tried to step up and earn the job in the first preseason game Saturday at Green Bay. Mike Furrey got the start and finished with three catches for 26 yards. Rookie Brian Robiskie had one catch for 15 yards in his NFL debut, and fellow rookie Mohamed Massaquoi had one catch for 6 yards. Josh Cribbs, a standout on special teams trying to make the transition to receiver, had two catches for 30 yards.
Analysis: None of these receivers will make much impact on your Fantasy team this season, but they could be worth adding off the waiver wire. Robiskie and Massaquoi are worth drafting with mid-round picks in rookie-only drafts.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini praised WR/KR Josh Cribbs for his transition to a larger receiver role this summer. "I think he's done well. At times it's not as conventional, but I wouldn't expect it to be because there is a transition that goes on," Mangini said. "Dealing with these transitions in the past, it does take some time for a guy who has played another position to really get used to the nuances of the new position. I like the way he's gotten open. He's done a nice job with his route depths, adjustments, things like that. Over time and repetition, I think the route running will continue to improve as well."
Analysis: Cribbs had two catches last season and has 16 over his career. While he does have some excellent quickness and very good speed, much remains to be seen over his receiving skills. Expect a minimal improvement in his role in the Browns' offense, but not enough to warrant Fantasy use. At best, consider him a one-week replacement off waivers this season.
News: Cleveland kick specialist Josh Cribbs, who wants the Browns give him a new contract, came to camp but didn't seem certain he would stay. Cribbs, with four years remaining on a six-year, $6.7 million deal, skipped the team's voluntary workouts in May. "I can't make a prediction on how it's going to work out," said Cribbs, a Pro Bowl pick in 2007. "Hopefully something will be reached before the season starts. My only leverage is my heart to this team, what I've been giving to this team thus far."
Analysis: Cribbs' main value is as a return man even if he will get more snaps on offense. We still wouldn't draft Cribbs in any leagues at this point unless it's a league where you get points for returns.
News: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the Browns might want to use RB Jerome Harrison as a punt returner this year and are expected to look at it in the preseason. They want to find ways to get Harrison the ball more. They also believe using Harrison as a punt returner can save physical wear on Josh Cribbs if they use him more on offense.
Analysis: Cribbs' main value is as a return man even if he will get more snaps on offense. We still wouldn't draft Cribbs in any leagues at this point unless it's a league where you get points for returns. At that point, you should hope he's back on punt returns.
News: Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said the team plans to use WR Joshua Cribbs, normally a return specialist, more on offense this year. "We've been using him as a receiver right now," Daboll said. "Again, in terms of installing a system, there is a lot of information that we put in these guys each day. Right now, he's been playing receiver, that's where he has been slotted. As far as how we use him, that will depend each week on game plan." Daboll is looking forward to working more with Cribbs in training camp. "Cribbs is a good kid," Daboll said. "He is smart. You can tell he loves the game of football. He is very passionate about his job. He fits right into the room with the other guys we've got."
Analysis: The Browns have a need at WR with Donte Stallworth suspended indefinitely, but Cribbs would likely slot in behind Braylon Edwards, Brian Robiskie, Mohamed Massaquoi, Mike Furrey and David Patten. Don't plan on drafting Cribbs in any leagues this year.
News: The Akron Beacon Journal reports the Browns are trying to find a No. 2 WR behind Braylon Edwards. So far, rookies Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi are leading the way. Both have drawn praise from coach Eric Mangini and showed more flash than David Patten, Joshua Cribbs, Syndric Steptoe, Mike Furrey, Paul Hubbard and Lance Leggett. It's uncertain whether last year's oft-injured No. 2 WR, Donte Stallworth, facing charges of DUI manslaughter, will participate in training camp.
Analysis: We like Robiskie the best of this group based on his play at Ohio State and his pedigree with his father, Terry, a longtime WR coach who is currently with the Falcons. Massaquoi also has upside, but he's not worth drafting in seasonal leagues. Both are worth early-round picks in rookie-only drafts but late-round fliers in seasonal leagues. As for Patten, Cribbs, Steptoe, Furrey, Hubbard, Leggett and Stallworth, leave them on the waiver wire to start the year.
News: Browns wide receiver/return specialist Josh Cribbs attended Tuesday's organized team activities after previously threatening to hold out for a new contract. Cribbs sat out last week's voluntary minicamp, but had a face-to-face discussion with new coach Eric Mangini last Thursday. While previous reports indicated Cribbs would demand a trade if a new deal isn't reached, Rickert denied ever saying that. He refused to confirm or deny that would be the next step. "Josh and I have had confidential discussions about what steps we should and shouldn't take," agent J.R. Rickert said. "He's optimistic that this can work out for everybody, and that's the approach we'll take going forward."
Analysis: The Browns previously said in a statement that they don't intend on giving Cribbs a new deal. He also asked for a new contract last year. Cribbs doesn't post enough stats on a weekly basis to warrant use as anything other than a one-week replacement when the matchup is right. We don't expect his role on the Browns to change much with the new coaching staff, so keep him out of draft plans.
News: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs will report to the club's offseason workout program this week. Cribbs is looking for a new contract, allegedly promised to him by the team's old front office. The team's new front office won't give in to his demands. Cribbs previously demanded a trade and released a long statement on why he should be compensated again.
It only hurts him that he's not at the Browns' minicamp.
News:Josh Cribbs reportedly attended the Browns' team minicamp on Thursday, but it might have been for non-football reasons. Cribbs reportedly had a meeting with team officials and made a formal request to be traded, emailing a statement to the media as well. "I humbly and respectfully come to Browns fans and the Browns letting all know that I have given my all to this team, on and off the field for four complete years selflessly without regard to myself and my own family," Cribbs' statement read. "Contracts are one-sided in favor of the team, yet we as players are told to honor our contracts without the team honoring them. We are not doctors and lawyers, we don't get paid for 25 years of work. If we are lucky, we get 10 years at best to make all the money we can to last the rest of our life. This is not personal, but I have to be a man and take care of my family for not just a year or two, but for as long as I am walking this earth. I want nothing more but to wear the Browns' logo on my chest until my career has come to an end, and I am deeply disappointed that the team I put my hard work, blood, sweat and tears in will just write me off as though I am collateral damage."
It only hurts him that he's not at the Browns' minicamp.
News: Browns wide receiver and return specialist Josh Cribbs is not attending Cleveland's voluntary minicamp as he tries to get the team to renegotiate his contract. Cribbs, who has four years remaining on a six-year, $6.7 million contract he signed in 2006, wants a new deal and his agent said the club's previous management team made promises to renegotiate with the former Pro Bowler. The Browns said in a statement that "no one from the current Browns organization, including owner Randy Lerner, has ever made any promises to Josh Cribbs with regard to his contract status."
Analysis: Looks like Cribbs is a longshot to get a new deal, especially since he also asked for one last year. He doesn't post enough stats on a weekly basis to warrant use as anything other than a one-week replacement when the matchup is right. We don't expect his role on the Browns to change much with the new coaching staff, so keep him out of draft plans. It only hurts him that he's not at the club's minicamp.
News: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Browns WR Josh Cribbs will ask to be traded if the Browns tell him they won't re-do his contract. Cribbs did not show up for the first day of voluntary minicamp Tuesday.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Cribbs the rest of this offseason. He is a good special teams player and return man, but he has minimal Fantasy value as a WR. Ignore him on Draft Day in most leagues.
News: The Canton Repository reports Browns coach Eric Mangini seems eager to use Joshua Cribbs on offense in 2009. Cribbs, who went to last year's Pro Bowl as a return specialist, caught his eye during film study. "Josh is fun to watch," Mangini said. "It's hard to miss a guy like that. Jericho Cotchery was a core (special teams) player in New York and hadn't really played much offense. Then he made that move into a starter. I don't know what Josh's potential is, and he will define that."
Analysis: If Cribbs turned into Cotchery, that would give Cribbs a significant Fantasy boost. Continue to monitor how Cribbs does in the offseason, and if he starts to get more reps at wide receiver, he could be a nice sleeper in deeper leagues this year.
News: Browns return specialist and part-time quarterback Joshua Cribbs injured his right ankle while running a pass pattern during practice. Cribbs was cutting back for a pass when he came up limping. After walking to the sideline in Cleveland's indoor practice field, Cribbs had his ankle examined by a trainer. As he was leaving to get his ankle re-taped, the media were asked to leave at the end of the 30-minute period that practice is open for viewing. A team spokesperson said Cribbs later returned to practice. The Browns are expected to use Cribbs in a more prominent role in their offense this Sunday against Pittsburgh because they are down to starting fourth-string QB Bruce Gradkowski.
Analysis: Fantasy owners might pick up Cribbs and try to be cute with him and add him to lineups, but he's not expected to throw the ball enough, run with the ball enough or catch the ball enough to warrant Fantasy use in Week 17. Now that he's hurt, you can ignore him with confidence.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs ran five times for 32 yards in a Week 16 loss to the Bengals.
Analysis: Cribbs got all of his carries from quarterback in the Wildcat formation on Sunday. He doesn't do enough statistically to matter in Fantasy heading into Week 17 at Pittsburgh.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, who played quarterback in college, took some snaps Week 15 at Philadelphia. He mostly ran the ball, though, getting five carries for 25 yards. He did throw one incomplete pass.
Analysis: Cribbs mostly contributes on special teams, but the Browns like to use him on a few gadget plays. Still, he doesn't do enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 16 against the Bengals.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs didn't make a catch in a Week 14 loss to the Titans, but he did rush six times for 24 yards and played some QB, failing to complete his one pass attempt.
Analysis: Cribbs' one pass on Sunday was an impressive deep ball to Braylon Edwards that looked complete on replays, but the Browns failed to challenge. While Cribbs is a great utility guy for the Browns, he has no value in Fantasy play heading into Week 15 at Philadelphia.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs ran once for no gain Week 13 against the Colts. He now has 11 rushing attempts on the season compared to two receptions.
Analysis: Cribbs plays a bigger role on special teams, but the Browns find inventive ways to use him on offense. Still, with a limited number of touches, he remains largely unusable in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 14 at Tennessee.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, who scored a touchdown on his only offensive touch of the game Week 11 at Buffalo, had only two touches Week 12 against the Texans. He carried the ball twice for six yards.
Analysis: Cribbs plays a bigger role on special teams, but the Browns find inventive ways to use him on offense. Still, with a limited number of touches, he remains largely unusable in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 13 against the Colts.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs took a handoff two yards for the first rushing touchdown of his career Week 11 at Buffalo. It was his only offensive touch all game.
Analysis: Cribbs plays a bigger role on special teams, but the Browns find inventive ways to use him on offense. Still, with a limited number of touches, he remains largely unusable in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 12 against the Texans.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, mostly used as a kick returner, ran three times for 48 yards Week 10 against the Broncos. He didn't catch a pass.
Analysis: Even though Cribbs is listed as a wide receiver, he has two catches compared to seven rushes this season. He doesn't do enough of either to matter in Fantasy. The Browns visit the Bills in Week 11.
News: In the Browns' 37-27 loss vs. the Ravens, Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs didn't make a reception but did score on a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Cribbs averaged 33.9 yards on seven kickoffs.
Analysis: Cribbs and the Browns will have no time to rest as they host the Broncos this Thursday as part of Week 10 action. The Broncos' pass defense is awful, but Cribbs isn't expected to produce many yards on a weekly basis. He's not worth owning at this time except in leagues where special-teams yardage counts.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, QB Brady Quinn and TE Martin Rucker all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 8 against the Jaguards.
Analysis: Cribbs is a special teams guru. Quinn is the Browns' future QB. And Rucker is a backup tight end. They all have little to no offensive role at this time and should be kept off most Fantasy rosters. The Browns play the Ravens Week 9.
News: Cleveland WR Josh Cribbs totaled one rushing attempt for two yards and one catch for one yard but the catch scored a touchdown in Week 7 against Washington. The Browns nearly recovered from a 14-3 deficit, scoring on Joshua Cribbs' 1-yard TD catch on fourth down and Braylon Edwards' 2-point conversion reception with 2:44 to play.
Analysis: Despite the touchdown, Cribbs contributes more as a kick returner than a wide receiver, meaning he has virtually no Fantasy appeal. Leave him on waivers for Week 8 at Jacksonville.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had just one offensive touch Week 6 against the Giants. He carried the ball for 12 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs contributes more as a kick returner than a wide receiver, meaning he has virtually no Fantasy appeal. Leave him on waivers.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had one carry Sunday at the Bengals. He lined up at quarterback and took the carry for no yards. On special teams, Cribbs had two punt returns for 10 yards and one kickoff return for 44 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs is a return specialist and has minimal Fantasy value on offense. Ignore him in most leagues. Cleveland is on a bye in Week 5 and plays the Giants in Week 6.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs made one catch for 17 yards in a Week 3 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Cribbs is more of a special-teams contributor in Cleveland than a receiver and should continue to be ignored in all formats. Cleveland visits Cincinnati in Week 4.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, primarily a kick returner, not only played Week 2 against the Steelers, but he ran the ball once for five yards. He missed Week 1 with an ankle injury.
Analysis: Cribbs might be asked to do more if teammate Donte Stallworth (quadricep) isn't going to be ready for Week 3 at Baltimore. Still, Cribbs is nothing more than waiver fodder at this point.
News: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs was close to playing Week 1 vs. Dallas but was still ruled out. He says he's feeling better and expects to play against the Steelers in Week 2. "I'm moving around real nice," he said. "It feels really good. I'll see what I can do Wednesday and Thursday."
Analysis: Cribbs might be asked to do more if teammate Donte Stallworth isn't going to be ready for Week 2. Still, Cribbs is no better than a low-end No. 4 Fantasy WR in the deepest of leagues at this point.
News: The Browns listed the following players as inactive for Week 1 vs. Dallas: Ken Dorsey (third QB), WR/KR Joshua Cribbs, DB Brodney Pool, OL Ryan Tucker, LB Kris Griffin, DL Ahtyba Rubin and TE Martin Rucker.
Analysis: None of the players on this list other than Josh Cribbs are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. But Cribbs is more of a kick returning threat than he is as a receiver anyway. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
News:The Sports Xchange notes, Browns WR Syndric Steptoe, a long-shot to make the final roster at the beginning of training camp, will return kicks and punts for the Browns Sunday unless Josh Cribbs' left ankle heals completely. Cribbs is out of a walking boot and improving after spraining his ankle Aug. 18, but he cannot put all his weight on the ankle and cut through traffic. Cribbs' practice load increased Wednesday, but he still hasn't gotten the green light to play Sunday. "When I put all my pressure on it, especially when I have equipment on -- they want it to be able to take hits when I make cuts," Cribbs said. "I'm no good to the team for one play. All I do and contribute to the team, I need to be able to do it."
Analysis: Steptoe is still not a suggested Fantasy player since he doesn't figure to be apart of the passing game. Plus, Cribbs could still play Sunday. Cribbs is one of the premier kick returners in the NFL, when healthy, but gets nothing more than a token catch a few times per season. Cribbs has no Fantasy value outside of leagues that reward heavily for return yards.
News: Browns running back Jamal Lewis (hamstring) and safety Brodney Pool (concussion) were kept indoors during Monday's practice and Pro Bowl return specialist Josh Cribbs (ankle) only took part in special teams walkthrough drills before heading inside with trainers after 25 minutes. Safety Sean Jones (knee) was also back but limited and linebacker Willie McGinest (groin) practiced. While McGinest, Jones and Lewis will likely play, Pool and Cribbs appear to be longshots for the season opener Sunday against the Cowboys.
Analysis: Cribbs was in a walking boot until a few days ago. He said his left ankle, which he sprained during a pileup against the Giants in the second preseason game, has responded well to treatment. The Browns, though, may be overly cautious with the versatile Cribbs, who returned two kickoffs and one punt for touchdowns last season. They'd rather have Cribbs as close to 100 percent as possible for their Week 2 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. "I'm doing everything I can do to get back out there on the field," said Cribbs. "But it's not up to me. They're going to do what's best for me and the program." Cribbs is one of the premier kick returners in the NFL, and gets nothing more than a token catch a few times per season. Cribbs has no Fantasy value outside of leagues that reward heavily for return yards.
News:Browns WR Josh Cribbs suffered a high ankle sprain Monday night against the New York Giants that could keep him out until the Sept. 7 opener, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Tuesday. Cribbs, a Pro Bowl kick returner, underwent X-rays and an MRI on Tuesday, which revealed no fracture or tear. He will sit out Saturday's third preseason game in Detroit and probably the final preseason game Aug. 28 at home against the Bears. Cribbs will be evaluated day-to-day for the Chicago game, but starters usually play sparingly in the final tune-up anyway.
Analysis: Cribbs is one of the premier kick returners in the NFL, and gets nothing more than a token catch a few times per season. Cribbs has no Fantasy value outside of leagues that reward heavily for return yards.
News:Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs left Monday's preseason game against the Giants with a left ankle injury.
Analysis: Cribbs is one of the premier kick returners in the NFL, and gets nothing more than a token catch a few times per season. Cribbs has no Fantasy value outside of leagues that reward heavily for return yards.
News:Josh Cribbs, one of the NFL's premier special teams players who took back two kickoffs and a punt for touchdowns last season, said Tuesday that his agent has asked the club to restructure the six-year contract extension he signed during the 2006 season. That might be asking a lot since Cribbs, considered the AFC's top return man, still has five years remaining on the deal, which is worth around $6 million. Cribbs was the only player to lead his team in kickoff return yards, punt return yards and special teams tackles in 2007, and he's likely reacting to the new contract Devin Hester got earlier this summer. "I couldn't help but notice," Cribbs said with a smile. "I was happy for him. He deserved every bit of it. He's a great talent and it's good to see another returner get his pay."
Analysis: Cribbs caught only three passes for 37 yards last season and ran the ball nine times for 61 yards. The Browns would be wise to use him in specific plays on offense, but Fantasy owners should stay away from him as a receiving option in 2008.
News: If Browns WR Joe Jurevicius can't play and he won't anytime soon after being placed on the PUP list with a knee injury training camp must be used to groom third-year pro Travis Wilson and veteran Kevin Kasper, a free agency pick-up. Return ace Joshua Cribbs might get a heavier workload. Jurevicius' absence also means rookie Paul Hubbard will get a longer look than was anticipated when he was drafted in Round 6. Browns GM Phil Savage doesn't rule out a return by Jurevicius at some point but admits the veteran's ordeal has been frustrating: "It started out as just an innocent knee scope in January."
Analysis: Look for Wilson to be the No. 3 receiver for the Browns ahead of Kasper, Cribbs and Hubbard. Wilson might be worth a late-round flier in deeper leagues, but he won't make a huge contribution in Fantasy leagues this year.
News: The Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports that Browns return specialist Joshua Cribbs might soon get his wish of being more involved in the team's offense. "We're putting in a nice package just to utilize more of my skills as well as everyone else's," said Cribbs, who made the Pro Bowl last season as a kick returner. "Last year, we put in one or two plays a game, but this year, it will be on a more consistent basis. It's going to be more of an elaborate package for a change of pace." Cribbs, who was used creatively in organized team activities Wednesday, said defenses better beware. "They'll have to spend a lot of time going over our plays and trying to do something to stop the package we're putting in," he said. "We have a lot of weapons and new additions that coach (Rob Chudzinski) wants to use, including (receiver) Donte Stallworth."
Analysis: Cribbs caught only three passes for 37 yards last season and ran the ball nine times for 61 yards, but led the NFL with a 30.7-yard kick-return average. He finished second in NFL history with 1,809 kickoff return yards. He also led the Browns with 23 special-teams tackles and scored three TDs, two on kickoff returns and one on a punt return. The Browns would be wise to use him in specific plays on offense, but Fantasy owners should stay away from him as a receiving option in 2008.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had three catches for 37 yards in 2007, but his main responsibility was on special teams. Cribbs averaged 13.5-yards on 30 punt returns and 30.7-yards on 59 kickoff returns with three total touchdowns. He also had nine carries for 61 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs only has real value in leagues where you get point for returns. If that's the case, make him a middle-round draft pick. Otherwise, don't use him as a Fantasy WR since he doesn't do much in that regard.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had one catch for 12 yards Sunday at the Bengals. Cribbs also had four kickoff returns for a 28.8-yard average and two punt returns for 27 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs only has value in leagues where you get point for returns. Otherwise, don't use him as a Fantasy WR.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs did not play on offense and only had one kickoff return for 25 yards and two punt returns for 5 yards.
Analysis: Cribbs is good in leagues where you get individual points for returns. Otherwise, don't use him in Week 16 at the Bengals.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs played a little on offense Week 14 at the Jets, catching one pass for 18 yards and rushing once for four yards. He also had 58 return yards.
Analysis: The Browns still primarily use Cribbs as a returner, giving him virtually no value in Fantasy. The Browns host the Bills in Week 15.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had one carry for one yard during a Week 13 loss to the Cardinals. He did not record a receiving stat. He is still stuck one one catch for seven yards this season.
Analysis: Cribbs is primarily used as the Browns' top kick returner and hardly plays during offensive series. He is merely a flier in Fantasy leagues that reward for return yards heading into Week 14 against the Jets.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had one carry for 3 yards Sunday at Baltimore. Cribbs also had seven kickoff returns for a 35-yard average and four punt returns for a 15.2-yard average.
Analysis: Cribbs only has value as a return man. He should not be used as a Fantasy WR in Week 12 against Houston.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs had four kickoff returns for a 51-yard average, including a 100-yard return for a touchdown Sunday against the Steelers. He also had four punt returns for a 4.8-yard average.
Analysis: Cribbs is only worth using in leagues where you get points for returns. Otherwise, strictly as a WR, he has no Fantasy value.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs, a kick-return specialist, had 179 return yards Week 9 against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Unless your league awards points for return yardage, Cribbs is not worth owning in even the deepest of Fantasy leagues. Leave him alone when the Browns visit the Steelers in Week 10.
News: Browns return specialist Josh Cribbs had one carry for 18 yards but did not catch a pass in Cleveland's 27-20 win at St. Louis in Week 8.
Analysis: Unless your league awards points for return yardage, Cribbs is not worth owning in even the deepest of Fantasy leagues. Leave him alone when the Browns host the Seahawks in Week 9.
News: Browns RB Lawrence Vickers (one carry, seven yards) and WR Josh Cribbs (one carry, four yards) each had a minor role in the rushing attack as Cleveland defeated the Dolphins 41-31 in Week 6.
Analysis: Cribbs only has value if your league rewards special teams play, while Vickers has no Fantasy value at this time.
News: Browns WR Josh Cribbs' only stats outside of the return game Week 5 against the Patriots came on a rushing play, in which he picked up 11 yards.
Analysis: The Browns like Cribbs as their kick returner and a guy to use on reverses. He doesn't get many passes thrown his way and is not recommended Fantasy option for Week 6 against the Dolphins.
News: Jason Wright (two carries, 27 yards), Lawrence Vickers (one carry, six yards) and Joshua Cribbs (one carry, two yards) all had minor rushing contributions in Cleveland's 27-13 win in Week 4 over the Ravens.
Analysis: None of these players have much Fantasy value at this point. The Browns play at New England in Week 5.
News: Josh Cribbs had just one carry for seven yards in Week 3 at Oakland, although he provided the Cleveland DST with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Analysis: Unfortunately for a majority of Fantasy owners, the special teams touchdown doesn't help his statistics - only the DST. He is not a recommended Fantasy option heading into Week 4 against the Ravens.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs caught one pass for seven yards in Week 1 vs. Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Cribbs is a kick returner first, a wide receiver second. In Fantasy play, he should not be considered a viable receiver option at this time. Leave him on the waiver wire for Week 2.
News: Joshua Cribbs might end up as the third receiver just because no one else will grab the job in Cleveland, reports The Sports Xchange. Travis Wilson drops too many easy passes and Tim Carter cannot stay healthy. Carter is out with a thumb injury.
Analysis: Cribbs caught our attention in the team's first preseason game and has been making some nifty moves for years in the return game. If he does end up as the No. 3 WR, don't expect him to turn in a lot of big stats on a consistent basis. He would be a flier in the deepest of Fantasy leagues at this point.

News: The Browns have agreed to a six-year extension with WR/KR Josh Cribbs, keeping him through the 2012 season. Cribbs is third in the NFL in kickoff returns with a 27.7-yard average and also serves as a reserve receiver, catching nine passes for 81 yards. The AFC Special Teams Player of the Week on October 4, Cribbs already has five kickoff returns of 40 yards or more this season. "This is a dream come true for me," Cribbs said. "I love the city of Cleveland and our fans and I'm excited to be here for the long haul. It certainly feels good to be wanted, and now I'm even more motivated because I want to prove to this organization that they made the right decision."
Analysis: Cribbs is a tremendous returner and should be owned in leagues if return yardage counts. As a wide receiver, Cribbs is not useful, but the Browns special teams will be strong for years to come with Cribbs on board.

News: The News-Herald of Northeast Ohio reports that WR Joe Jurevicius took reps with the starting unit for the second straight day Friday and is expected to start vs. Denver in Week 7. Josh Cribbs is expected to serve as the No. 3 receiver if Dennis Northcutt (rib) cannot play.
Analysis: Denver's pass defense is extremely stingy, so using any of these receivers for Fantasy use is not prudent.
News: Browns WR Joshua Cribbs is a former college quarterback who has shown great running ability as a kickoff returner. Cribbs, though, only plays on offense as the third or fourth receiver even though it seems he might be perfect for the "slash" role made popular in Pittsburgh by Kordell Stewart. "If your team is not where you want it to be, do you expand to do more things or do you try to get better at what you are doing?" coach Romeo Crennel said. "That's my dilemma. Do I try to get better at what I have, or do I try to become exotic and fancy?"
Analysis: Cribbs shouldn't be expected to help Fantasy teams as anything more than a special-teams player.

News: According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, WR Joe Jurevicius, one of the Browns' biggest off-season acquisitions, is expected to be out at least four to six weeks with broken ribs. Jurevicius will undergo an MRI exam today to confirm the early diagnosis, but Jurevicius most likely will miss a significant portion of the season. He was replaced by Joshua Cribbs, who dropped one pass and had one other thrown out of reach. Jurevicius was apparently injured on a 20-yard catch on fourth down in the first quarter that was called back by a holding call. The pass would've given the Browns a first down at the Saints' 25.
Analysis: This is bad news for Jurevicius owners who were counting on him to be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver. Hopefully he returns in Week 5 against Carolina and is able to make an impact. Jurevicius missing time will increase the value of Dennis Northcutt, who had four catches for 37 yards. Consider Northcutt a No. 3 WR option at best. Cribbs also will see more time, but he has minimal Fantasy value.
News: Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs had five kickoff returns for 114 yards in the Browns' 19-14 loss Week 1 vs. Saints.
