Packers backup running backs contribute despite small role

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/5/2014) The Packers backup running backs managed to play a role despite limited carries Thursday against the Seahawks.

John Kuhn played his normal role, sneaking in a touchdown from two yards out. It was Kuhn’s only carry of the game. He was not targeted in the passing game.

DuJuan Harris also managed one carry during the contest. He picked up 7 yards on his only rush.

Both players will take on the Jets Week 2.

John Kuhn pumped about return to Packers

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(4/28/2014) Fullback John Kuhn, who re-signed with the Packers on a one-year, $1.03 million deal, said he's "super excited" to be back with the team.

“You always test the market, you hear from other people, and you question whether you will (come back) or not, but I’m super excited to be back,” Kuhn told ESPN Wisconsin. "We’ve got a great fan base in Wisconsin, I love the fans, and I really love being a Packer. ... This is the perfect place for me, especially at this point and time in my career.

"I love being part of the team, I think I can serve the team very well through the course of the season," he added. “To be here where the fans are tremendously great and an offense that suits everything I do well, I think it’s a perfect fit."

Packers to re-sign John Kuhn

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(4/3/2014) The Packers will re-sign fullback John Kuhn to a one-year deal worth just over $1 million, reports Fox Sports. Kuhn ran 10 times for 38 yards and a touchdown and caught 13 passes for 81 yards last season.

Packers will let John Kuhn test free agency

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/6/2014) It appears the Packers will let fullback John Kuhn test free agency. ESPN reported Thursday that the veteran will keep in touch with the Packers in hopes of re-signing. He spent seven seasons with the Packers.

Packers could go without fullback

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(2/10/2014) Free agent fullback John Kuhn wants to return to Green Bay for an eighth season, but the potential number of ballcarriers on the roster "might make the Packers consider forgoing a fullback entirely," reports the team's website. Kuhn's offensive touches have declined steadily over the years, from 99 in 2010 to 23 last season.

Green Bay has Eddie Lacy, DuJuan Harris and Jonathan Franklin under contract, plus late-season acquisition Khalil Bell and practice squad holdover Orwin Smith. However, Kuhn is a cult hero in Green Bay who's extremely valuable in blitz protection.

"His knowledge of the offense – particularly pass-protection calls at the line of scrimmage, in the heat of battle – is probably second on the team only to quarterback Aaron Rodgers," the report said.

John Kuhn hopes for return to Packers

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(1/30/2014) John Kuhn's agent said he hasn't had any contract talks with the Packers but is optimistic about his client re-signing with the team, reports the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Kuhn, 31, will be an unrestricted free agent. His agent, Kevin Gold, hasn't started negotiations with the Packers but expects to speak with team at the scouting combine in late February in Indianapolis.

"I assume there's interest on both sides, and (us) having him come back and hopefully they want him back," Gold said Wednesday. "It's a good fit and he likes it (in Green Bay), he lives there. That's definitely his priority, and I assume it’s their's, too."

Packers address running game with fullback signing

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/28/2014) Green Bay's signing of Ina Liaina, a true blocking fullback, indicates the Packers "may see a need for someone who can destroy linebackers before they get their hands on bruising halfback Eddie Lacy," reports the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Fullback John Kuhn, an impending free agent, was used more as a third-down pass blocker than a lead blocker.

The Packers trailed San Francisco 20-17 in the playoffs when they faced 1st-and-goal from the 9-yard line with just over six minutes left. They ran the ball with receiver Randall Cobb and tried two passes before settling for a field goal. Lacy did not get the ball.

Now, at least, Green Bay has a fullback on the roster.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12/15/2013) Packers running back James Starks was the biggest of the small contributors Sunday in Dallas. He managed just one catch, but it was an 11-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter that nearly completed a comeback from a 23-point halftime deficit. Starks added three carries for 12 yards.

Fellow running back John Kuhn chipped in with one reception, but it lost a yard.

Packers have contributors in Week 13

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11/28/2013) The Packers' Week 13 loss at the Lions was ugly -- a 40-10 collapse on Thanksgiving. Some Packers who produced some decent numbers include fullback/third-down back John Kuhn (10 total yards), tight end Ryan Taylor (an 8-yard catch) and tight end Andrew Quarless (a 7-yard catch. Taylor left the game and was evaluated for a concussion.

The Packers host the Falcons in Week 14.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/24/2013) Packers fullback John Kuhn, tight end Brandon Bostick and tight end Andrew Quarless all made it onto the stat sheet Week 12 vs. Minnesota.

Kuhn, who was targeted four times, finished with two catches for 29 yards. His longest catch went 20 yards.

Bostick, who was targeted five times, finished with just one catch for 24 yards. Bostick had a great chance to record a touchdown in the second half, but he couldn't haul in a 15-yard pass from Matt Flynn that hit him right in the chest.

Quarless, who was targeted three times, finished with two catches for 22 yards.

The Packers' next game is Thursday at Detroit (Week 13).

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(10/28/2013) The Packers got a slew of offensive contributions in their easy win in Minnesota. Among them, tight end Andrew Quarless caught both his targets for 13 yards, and fullback John Kuhn hauled in one of his two targets for 7 yards.

Quarless started for Jermichael Finley, who's out indefinitely with a neck injury.

Small efforts help Packers earn Sunday win

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/20/2013) A spate of injuries allowed several Packers skill position players to step up Sunday against Cleveland. Among them was wideout Myles White, who caught a pass for nine yards.

John Kuhn added one carry for four yards and an 8-yard reception. Johnathan Franklin had two attempts on the ground for six yards.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Kuhn also lost a fumble Sunday. The Packers are back in action Week 7 vs. Cleveland.

Packers have four offensive players on injury report

by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer

Guard T.J. Lang (back) participated fully in practice and is probable for Sunday's game.

John Kuhn 'working through' hamstring injury

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/17/2013) Packers fullback John Kuhn emerged from Sunday's game vs. Washington with a hamstring injury, which might keep him out Week 3 at Cincinnati, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.

"I got a little hamstring tweak," Kuhn said Monday. "We’re working through it. Hopefully I can be out there next Sunday."

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Kuhn strikes twice in playoff win

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1/5/2013) Packers fullback John Kuhn entered Saturday's NFC Wild Card game with just one touchdown in the regular season. Kuhn found the end zone twice -- once on the ground and once through the air -- in a 24-10 victory. He barged in the end zone from 3 yards out in the second quarter and caught a short 9-yard pass from Aaron Rodgers in the third quarter for his second score of the night. He finished with four yards and a touchdown on three carries and two catches for 15 yards and touchdown on three targets.
