Analysis: Suisham had a solid season, nailing 90.3 percent of his field-goal tries, the second-best mark of his career. He ended up with 118 points, a new career high as well. He is under contract for 2013 and is expected to return to the teams kicking duties. Given how hard it can be to kick in Pittsburgh, his success has been impressive. Consider him a viable Fantasy kicker in most formats on Draft Day.

Suisham also made his lone extra point in the defeat.
Analysis: Suisham had made 96 percent of his field goals entering Sunday but his misses ended up costing the Steelers the game, and knocked them out of the playoffs. Still, he has had a productive campaign thus far and should be able to put up some points in the season finale against the Browns. Keep Suishama active in deeper Fantasy formats for Week 17.
News: Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham kicked a 32-yard field goal in the Week 15 overtime loss at Dallas Sunday. It was his only attempt. Suisham finished with six points scored as he went 3 for 3 on PATs.
Analysis: Suisham has only recorded double figures in Fantasy scoring twice in the last eight games for Pittsburgh. At this late juncture of the season, that is not consistent enough production to keep Suisham a viable Fantasy option. Owners can find better options for Week 16 when the Steelers meet the Bengals.

News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham made all three of his field-goal attempts in Week 13 against the Ravens. Suisham hit from 46 yards in the first quarter before connecting from 41 yards late in the second. He then hit the game-winning 42-yard attempt as time expired to give the Steelers a 23-20 win. Suisham also made both of his PATs and finished with 10 points.
Analysis: Suisham after attempting just one field goal over his last two games, Suisham was finally able to get some work in against the Ravens. The 30-year-old is now 24 for 25 on the season and hasn't missed a kick since Week 6. However, as long as Ben Roethlisberger remains sidelined, Pittsburgh's offense will likely have problems scoring points so consider Suisham more of a low-end option until Big Ben returns.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham was held to two extra points Week 12 at Cleveland. He didn't even get to attempt a field goal.
Analysis: Suisham's scoring opportunities the last two weeks haven't been there because the Steelers have had to start backup quarterbacks. Suisham does much better when Ben Roethlisberger is active. Roethlisberger might return Week 13 at Baltimore. If that happens, then Suisham will remain a viable low-end Fantasy start.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham wasn't asked to do much against the Ravens in Week 11. Suisham nailed a 22-yarder in the third quarter for his only action of the night. He finished with just a field goal and an extra point in a 13-10 defeat.
Analysis: With Ben Roethlisberger out with a shoulder injury, Pittsburgh's offense was stagnant and failed to get into good field position for Suisham to make any sort of impact. His value may take a hit if Big Ben can't return in next week at Cleveland. Continue to view him as a viable option in most Fantasy formats heading into Week 12 against the Browns.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham made all three of his field-goal attempts in Week 10 against the Chiefs. Suisham also made his lone PAT and finished with 10 points.
Analysis: Suisham is now 20 for 21 in field goals on the season and has a long of 52 yards. He has now posted double-digit Fantasy points in four of his last six contests and doesn't seem to be bothered by the ankle injury that had given him some problems over the past few weeks. Suisham can be viable Fantasy option in most formats heading into Week 11 against the Ravens.

Analysis: Suisham just missed recorded double digits in scoring in his fourth straight game with his nine points Sunday. News: Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham, who was dealing with an ankle issue, is active and starting the Week 8 game against the Redskins. Suisham had been limited in practice due to his left ankle but is a full go for the game Sunday.
Analysis: Suisham has been solid this year for Pittsburgh as he has gone 14 of 15 on field goals. His lone miss came from over 50 yards. While the Steelers do not have the most potent offense in the NFL, the 30-year-old remains a viable low-end Fantasy kicker heading into Week 8 against the Redskins.

Analysis: Suisham has made 14 of 15 field goals so far this season with his lone miss coming from 50-plus yards. The Steelers do not have the most potent offense in the league, so the 30-year-old remains a viable low-end Fantasy kicker heading into Week 8.

Analysis: Suisham has made 14 of 15 field goals so far this season with his lone miss coming from 50-plus yards. While the Steelers do not have the most potent offense in the NFL, the 30-year-old remains a viable low-end Fantasy kicker heading into Week 8 against the Redskins.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham made three of his four field-goal attempts in Week 6 against the Titans. Suisham connected from 28 and 29 yards in the 26-23 defeat before nailing a season-best 52-yarder in the fourth. However, he came up just short on a 54-yard attempt late in the fourth quarter, which would have given the Steelers the lead. Suisham did make both of his PATs and is now 11 for 12 in field-goals on the year.
Analysis: Suisham finally missed his first field-goal attempt of the year Thursday night as he came up just short. However, he was still able to deliver a very productive performance for Fantasy owners and he has now finished with double-digit Fantasy points in each of his last two contests. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with the 30-year-old as a viable low-end option heading into Week 7.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham had a solid game in Week 5 against the Eagles. Suisham was 3 of 3 on field goals with a long of 34, and he made his lone extra point. His final field goal as time expired was the game winner for the Steelers in a 16-14 victory.
Analysis: Suisham is now 8 of 8 on field goals to start the season, and he remains a low-end starting option and a good bye-week replacement. You can use Suisham if needed in Week 6 at the Titans on Thursday night, and hopefully he will remain perfect on the year.
News: Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham drilled one field goal and four extra points during Sunday's contest against the Raiders in Week 3. Suisham nailed a 33-yard kick in the second quarter for his only field goal of the day in a 34-31 defeat.
Analysis: Suisham is a perfect 5 for 5 in field goals, including a 45-yard kick for his longest of the season. The Steelers will go into a bye week in Week 4 as they prepare for their next game at home against Philadelphia in Week 5. He should be viewed as a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 5.
News: Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham connected on both of his field-goal attempts during the Steelers' 27-10 win over the Jets in Week 2. Suisham, who also posted a pair of extra points, converted both field goals from 45 yards out to remain perfect on the season (4 for 4).
Analysis: Suisham produced a lowly 74.2-percent conversion rate last season, but has already jumped out to a faster start this year while racking up 15 points. His range seems to fall just within 50 yards, and he should be viewed as a low-end Fantasy option for Week 2 at Oakland.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham was perfect to start the season in Week 1 against the Broncos, as he nailed a pair of field goals, from 21 and 35 yards, while also successfully converting his only extra-point attempt in a 31-19 loss.
Analysis: Suisham made just 74.2 percent of his field goals last season, below his career mark of 79.5 percent, so we are hoping he can bounce back this season. Of course, Suisham does his kicking half the year in Heinz Field, a notoriously tough place for kickers, so Suisham has just low-end Fantasy value for Week 2 against the Jets.
News: Pittsburgh K Shaun Suisham was statistically solid on Sunday night during the AFC Wild Card game at Denver. Suisham didn't miss a field goal and connected on three of them with a long of 45 yards. He added 2 for 2 on PATs and finished the game with 11 points scored. Suisham, unfortunately, was playing for the losing team in the game as the Steelers were eliminated from the playoffs in the Broncos victory.
Analysis: Suisham went just 23 of 31 for the Steelers in the regular season on field goals. For as good as the Pittsburgh defense was this season, the field goal kicking, namely Suisham, was not impressive. Suisham only finished with double digits in Fantasy scoring three times all season. Pittsburgh wins with defense and doesn't put up a lot of points. That doesn't help Suisham's Fantasy value, especially considering he also wasn't the most reliable kicker around. Suisham will enter next year as a low-end Fantasy kicker.
News: Pittsburgh K Shaun Suisham went 2 for 3 on field goals in Sunday's Week 17 regular-season finale at Cleveland. Suisham hit a long of 29 yards in the win and added a PAT for seven points scored.
Analysis: Despite playing for a playoff-bound team, Suisham only finished with double digits in Fantasy scoring three times all season for the Steelers. Pittsburgh wins with defense and don't put up a lot of points. That doesn't help Suisham's Fantasy value, especially considering he also wasn't the most reliable kicker around. Suisham will kick in the playoffs, but is not a recommended start. He'll enter next year as a low-end Fantasy kicker.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham made both of his field-goal attempts in Week 16 against the Rams. Suisham connected from 21-yards out in the first quarter before hitting from 49 yards in the third. He also made all three of his extra-point attempts to finish with nine points in the 27-0 win.
Analysis: Suisham is now 21 for 28 in field-goal attempts this season and was finally able to finish with more than one make for the time in three games. While he has made all his extra-point attempts, Pittsburgh hasn't exactly lighting up the scoreboard lately. Consider him a low-end Fantasy K heading into the regular season finale against the Browns.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham did the only scoring for his team in Week 15 against the 49ers. He made 1 of 2 field goals in the 20-3 loss. He made a 51-yarder in the third quarter before missing one from 48 yards later in the second half.
Analysis: Suisham made his first field goal from 50-plus yards on Monday night, which barely got over the crossbar. But since he has missed seven attempts thus far and the Steelers are not a high-scoring offense, continue to view him as more of a low-end Fantasy K heading into Week 16 against the Rams.
News: Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham connected on both his extra-point attempts on Thursday night versus Cleveland. He did not attempt a field goal in the contest. The Steelers would beat the Browns, 14-3.
Analysis: Suisham is perfect on the season in extra-point attempts and has connected on 18 of 24 field goals for the Steelers. Fantasy owners should continue to view him as a low-end kicking option heading into Week 15 versus the 49ers.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham nailed five extra points and missed a 50-yard field goal against the Bengals in Week 13.
Analysis: Suisham will continue to see modest kicking opportunities as part of the Steelers offense. He's worth a look as a low-end starter vs. the Browns in Week 14.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham made both of his field goal attempts in Week 12 against the Chiefs. He connected from 21 yards in the second quarter before making a 49 yarder in the second half. He would also converted his lone extra point in the 13-9 win.
Analysis: Suisham has gone a perfect 5 for 5 in field goals over his last three games and is now 5 of 8 in field goals from 40-plus yards. While the Steelers have not been scoring a ton of points of late, he should benefit as the weather gets colder. But heading into Week 13 against the Bengals, continue to view Suisham as more of a low-end Fantasy K.
News: The Steelers gave K Shaun Suisham only one field goal opportunity, but he connected on the 39-yard attempt in a Week 10 win over the Bengals. Suisham's field goal came with just under a minute left in the first half, and it gave Pittsburgh a 7-point lead going into halftime. He also was perfect on his three extra-point attempts.
Analysis: Suisham has been accurate of late, but he's not the most potent kicking threat in Fantasy. He and the Steelers will be on a bye in Week 11, but when they return to play the Chiefs in Week 12, owners should consider him to be merely a low-end option for Fantasy.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham had a perfect night in Week 9 against the Ravens. He made both of his field goal attempts and converted two extra points in the 23-20 loss. He made his field goals from distances of 30 and 36 yards.
Analysis: Suisham has missed just one field goal over his last six games while going a perfect 15 for 15 in extra points over that span. While he does not have the biggest leg, he remains productive enough to be considered a low-end Fantasy K heading into Week 10 against the Bengals.
News: Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham hit both his extra-point attempts and converted three of his four field goals in Sunday's 25-17 win over New England. Suisham hit field goals from 33, 21 and 23 yards.
Analysis: Suisham has missed five field goals this season, but looked good in Week 8. Pittsburgh hosts Baltimore next Sunday in a game that boasts two good defenses and at times explosive offenses. The kicking game could play a huge role, but Fantasy owners shouldn't view Suisham as anything more than a low-end kicking option.
News: Pittsburgh K Shaun Suisham had a solid game in Week 7 during a win at Arizona. Suisham finished the game with 12 points as he went 3 for 3 on field goals against the Cardinals. Suisham nailed a 41-yard field goal just before halftime and then added a 42-yard field goal with just under 12 minutes to play. His last FG was a 39-yarder with just under seven minutes remaining in the game. Suisham also went 3 for 3 on extra points for his 12 total points in the Week 8 win for the Steelers.
Analysis: Suisham has been a mess this season with four misses already on the year. Sunday was only his second game in double figures in scoring and that hasn't really gotten things done with an entire NFL's worth of other options available to Fantasy owners. The Steelers are a solid team and they should put up some points in Week 8 against New England. That said, only consider Suisham with a start as a last-resort or bye-week replacement option.
News: Pittsburgh K Shaun Suisham connected on one of his two field-goal attempts while converting both extra-point tries during the Steelers' 17-13 victory over Jacksonville in Week 6 on Sunday. Suisham booted a 21-yard field goal early in the second, but also missed a 46-yard attempt later.
Analysis: Suisham has now missed at least one field-goal try in four of his five games this season as he has been affected by inconsistency. He is now 7 of 11 (63.6 percent) overall this year and makes for a low-end option in Week 7 against Arizona -- seek more consistent kickers.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham, who has struggled to put up consistent points so far this season, benefited from the Steelers' 38-point explosion against the Titans in Week 5. Suisham hit five extra points and a 19-yard field goal in the contest.
Analysis: The eight points were Suisham's second-most this season, but considering he has scored less than five points twice, this performance won't be enough to win over most Fantasy owners. With a little more consistency from the Steelers offense, Suisham would have some Fantasy value, but for now, he should remain on waivers in most formats. The Steelers host the Jaguars in Week 6.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham had a quiet game Sunday at Houston. Suisham had one field goal on two attempts and one extra point. Suisham had a field goal blocked at the end of the first half.
Analysis: Suisham is a No. 2 kicker in the majority of leagues. He could be a useful bye-week replacement in Week 5 against the Titans, but explore other options first with the Steelers struggling on offense.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham had a productive game in Week 3 against the Colts. He made three of his four field-goal attempts and converted two extra points in the 23-20 win. He connected from 48, 44 and his 38-yarder in the fourth quarter proved to be the game winner. Suisham's lone miss was on a 36-yarder in the third quarter.
Analysis: Suisham converted just one field goal in the first two games this season but was finally able to break out with a big game on Sunday. The Steelers should be able to score some points this season and the 29-year-old will benefit from it. Heading into Week 4 against the Texans, continue to view Suisham as more of a No. 2 Fantasy K.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham had one field goal Sunday against the Seahawks from 20 yards out. He also missed a kick and made three extra points.
Analysis: Suisham is a No. 2 Fantasy kicker, and he is only worth using in the majority of leagues when he has a favorable matchup or during the bye weeks. Consider him a No. 2 option in Week 3 at the Colts.
News: Pittsburgh K Shaun Suisham had an uninspiring game on Sunday afternoon in Week 1 at Baltimore. With the Ravens winning 35-7, Suisham didn't get many opportunities. The Steelers did not afford him a field goal attempt in the contest and he finished with just one point on a PAT.
Analysis: Suisham didn't get much of a chance to have a solid game with the Baltimore defense effectively shutting down the Steelers all afternoon in Week 1. We definitely believe things will get a bit easier in Week 2 at home against the Seattle Seahawks. Pittsburgh will be out for blood after the debacle in Baltimore so they should be able to put up some points against the Seahawks. Consider Suisham more of a No. 2 Fantasy option, however, as he doesn't have a whole lot of leg.
News: Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham was able to play in Saturday's preseason game against Atlanta after dealing with an appendectomy. Suisham made one field goal from 19 yards out and hit all three extra points.
Analysis: Suisham should be fine for the start of the regular season, and he should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy kicker on Draft Day. Plan on drafting Suisham with a late-round pick in deep leagues, and he can be a suitable bye-week replacement during the year.
News: Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said K Shaun Suisham had an appendectomy last week. "He is fine and back with us," Tomlin said. "It's just going to be amatter of time before he gets back out there and participates for us." Swayze Waters made only one of three field goal attempts in Thursday's preseason win over the Eagles.
Analysis: Suisham made 93.3 percent of his field goals with the Steelers in seven games last season, which is why they brought the veteran kicker back in 2011. Unless his status for the start of the season becomes an issue, then Suisham should kick for the Steelers. However, he remains at best a reserve Fantasy kicker on Draft Day.
News: The Chatham-Kent Daily Post is reporting that the Steelers have reached an unspecified agreement with free-agent K Shaun Suisham, who joined the club at midseason after franchised kicker Jeff Reed was summarily let go. Suisham went 14 for 15 on field-goal tries in the regular season.
Analysis: Suisham is more of a No. 2 Fantasy kicker coming into the season. He is only worth drafting in deep leagues with a late-round pick. If he goes undrafted then plan on using him as a bye-week replacement.
News: Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham converted 1 of 2 field-goal attempts in the Steelers' 31-25 loss to Green Bay in Super Bowl XLV on Sunday. Suisham, who took over as Pittsburgh's kicker in Week 11, converted a 33-yard field goal early in the second quarter but missed a 52-yard attempt in the third. He did connect on both extra-point tries as the Steelers opted to attempt a two-point conversion on their third touchdown.
Analysis: Suisham replaced ineffective kicker Jeff Reed and had a strong rest of the regular season. He missed only one field goal in 15 attempts -- all within 50 yards -- but struggled in the postseason. The 29-year-old missed two kicks during Pittsburgh's three playoff games and attempted only five field goals total. With the Steelers boasting a high-scoring offense, Suisham should be considered as a mid-range option in 2011 Fantasy drafts.
News: Pittsburgh K Shaun Suisham connected on his lone field-goal attempt and three extra-point tries in the Steelers' 24-19 victory over the Jets in the AFC Championship game on Sunday night. Suisham 20-yard field goal, one of only two field goals in the game, helped provide Pittsburgh a 10-0 lead midway through the second quarter.
Analysis: Suisham atoned for his miss against Baltimore in the Divisional Round last week and collected six points in Sunday's game. He was a late addition to the Steelers roster during the regular season but should be viewed as a quality kicking option in 2011 Fantasy drafts.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham was good on 1 of 2 attempts in Saturday's Divisional Playoff win over the Ravens. He nailed a 35-yarder in the fourth quarter, but could not connect on a kick earlier in the game from 43 yards out. Suisham converted on all four extra points he attempted on the afternoon.
Analysis: Suisham has now booted through 15 of the 17 field goal attempts he's put up since joining the Steelers mid-season. Since the Steelers won Saturday, he will play again next week in the AFC title game. if he continues to kick well, he might be the guy for the job heading into 2011. If he is, we like Suisham as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy kicker. Select him as such on Draft Day.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham kicked field goals of 41 and 24 yards along with five extra points in a Week 17 rout of the Browns.
Analysis: Suisham made 14 of 15 field goals after taking over from Jeff Reed in the middle of the season, and he might have earned himself a job in Pittsburgh for a while with his performance. Suisham should be considered a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option heading into 2011 if he sticks around in the Steel City.
News: Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham connected on 2 of 3 field-goal attempts in the Steelers' 27-3 victory over Carolina in Week 16 on Thursday night. Suisham converted on kicks of 26 and 29 yards but was wide right on a 41-yard attempt just before halftime. He was also perfect on three extra-point attempts.
Analysis: The 41-yard miss was Suisham's first failed field-goal attempt in his six games with the Steelers. Entering Thursday's game, Suisham had converted all seven of his attempts from beyond 40 yards but saw that streak come to an end against the Panthers. He'll likely have another opportunity for several Fantasy points in Week 17 against Cleveland. Keep him in mind as a solid kicker option.
News: In his five games with Pittsburgh, K Shaun Suisham has connected on all seven of his field goals from 40-plus yards. His latest was a 42-yarder in Week 15 against the Jets. He would also hit both his extra point attempts as well. The Steelers would lose to the Jets, 22-17.
Analysis: Suisham remains perfect on the year with Pittsburgh. He's booted all 10 of his field goal attempts and all 11 of his extra points. The Steelers host the lowly Panthers in Week 16 on Thursday. Suisham could have another solid outing, which makes him worth using in deeper Fantasy leagues for Week 16.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham kicked field goals of 23, 35 and 41 yards along with a pair of extra points in a Week 14 win over Cincinnati.
Analysis: Suisham has kicked well for the Steelers since replacing Jeff Reed with nine field goals in his last three games. And that's with QB Ben Roethlisberger struggling a little with his game. Suisham is certainly worth a look in deeper Fantasy leagues right now with the way he's booting the ball.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham did everything the team asked him to do in the Week 13 win over the Ravens. He made both field goals he attempted, including a 45-yarder in the third quarter and nailed both extra points he attempted on the night.
Analysis: Suisham was on-the-money for the Steelers on Sunday night, and he has now hit all six FG attempts he has tried since replacing Jeff Reed in the last three games. In Week 14, look for him to be involved in the scoring against the Bengals, whose defense is a below-average unit. He should be viewed as a solid Fantasy kicker.
News: Steelers K Shaun Suisham kicked field goals of 45, 46, 48 and 41 yards along with an extra point in Pittsburgh's Week 12 overtime win in Buffalo.
Analysis: Suisham managed just extra points in his Steelers debut against the Raiders last week, but he came through in a big way with four long field goals, including the game winner on Sunday. In Week 13, the Steelers might have a tough time scoring touchdowns against the Ravens, so think about using Suisham in more than 3 percent of leagues.
News: Pittsburgh K Shaun Suisham wasn't asked to anything more taxing than kicking extra points in the Week 11 35-3 win over the Raiders. Suisham did not attempt a field goal in the game and went 5 for 5 on PATs to score five points in the game.
Analysis: Suisham played his first game with Pittsburgh after replacing Jeff Reed. He didn't have to attempt a field goal and was still a sweeping success as the Steelers won easily. He's going to have to attempt a field goal sometime, however. That will likely happen Week 12 at Buffalo. Suisham might be worth using, but there are more consistent options available.
News: Newly-signed Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham was brought in to replace Jeff Reed, who missed some easy field goals in Week 10. Suisam has also been short on some kicks in his career, but he said it doesn't stay with him. "I never carry misses or makes with me." Suisham said. "I never anticipate missing, but, when it does happen, move on to the next play."
Analysis: Suisham kicked for the Cowboys last year before losing out to Phil Dawson for the starting job in Cleveland this preseason. He tried out for the Lions last week, but lost out to Dave Rayner. Suisham certainly gains immediate Fantasy value, but only think about adding him in deeper leagues until he proves to be worthy of ownership.

News: The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams signed K Shaun Suisham on Thursday to kick in Saturday's preseason opener against the Vikings, with Josh Brown sidelined because of a hip injury.
Analysis: Suisham might only kick for a game or two before Brown is healthy and back in action. There is little chance Suisham will remain with the Rams, but this opportunity is a chance to showcase his talent to the rest of the NFL. He has made only 79 percent of his field goals in his career and is known to be erratic. Ignore Suisham in Fantasy until further notice.
News: The Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports the Browns announced Thursday the release of seven players and terminated the contract of veteran kicker Shaun Suisham, who was signed as insurance in case Phil Dawson staged a holdout.
Analysis: Suisham might sign on with a new team, but he has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him on Draft Day if he's not signed by the start of training camp.
News: Holdout PK Phil Dawson is making his case for a new contract every day with the Browns -- and he hasn't been at OTAs. Newly signed kicker Shaun Suisham continued to miss field goal attempts and boot short kickoffs throughout the team's practices. Dawson wants a better contract before he rejoins the team.
Analysis: Dawson might come back in time for the start of training camp and be the Browns' kicker, but the reality is that the team's offense isn't expected to give him a lot of opportunities to score a lot of points. You could do much better than Dawson late in Fantasy drafts this summer.
News: The Browns on Tuesday signed free agent kicker Shaun Suisham. He is expected to compete with Phil Dawson for the starting job. In 2009, Suisham connected on 20 of 24 field goals and 25 of 26 extra points in 14 games with the Cowboys and Redskins. Dawson skipped the Browns' first voluntary offseason workout Monday in a possible contract protest. He is in the final year of his deal and has been asking for a new contract for several years. In addition, the team waived kicker Leigh Tiffin.
Analysis: Suisham is a legitimate threat to Dawson's job, and this signing will likely force Dawson to show up sooner than he wants. This is now a position battle to monitor, but the winner should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy kicker at best.
News: The Cowboys made tender offers to 11 of their restricted free agents and signed another to a one-year deal. The only player left out: kicker Shaun Suisham, who struggled after replacing Nick Folk late in the season. Kickoff specialist David Buehler and Connor Hughes are the only kickers left on the Cowboys' roster, and there is speculation that Buehler will be given the chance to kick field goals. "He's obviously got the leg," head coach Wade Phillips told the Dallas Morning News. "He hit some long ones in practice because we only basically practiced him on the long ones. He hit a fair percentage of those. He's not where we want him to be, but I think he can get there."
Analysis: Suisham isn't worth considering in Fantasy so long as he's not on a team, but for now Buehler is the guy worth eyeballing if he's the kicker in Dallas' potent offense. We'll keep our eyes on this one for you since whoever takes over the kicking duties in Dallas will warrant Fantasy consideration.
News: Cowboys K Shaun Suisham converted 1 of 2 field goal attempts during a Week 17 win against the Eagles. He hit on a 44-yard attempt in the second quarter but missed from 30 yards out in the fourth. Suisham did make all three of his PATs.
Analysis: Suisham began the 2009 season with the Redskins before missing some costly kicks cost him his job. He then landed with Dallas over the final weeks after Nick Folk was let go. The Cowboys are likely to hold an open competition at kicker next season unless they absolutely love Suisham. If Suisham stays with Dallas, he could be a sleeper Fantasy option on Draft Day 2010, so keep tabs on his progress.
News: In the Cowboys' Week 16 win at the Redskins, kicker Shaun Suisham hit a 23-yard field goal and two extra points against his former team.
Analysis: Suisham and the Cowboys find themselves in a meaningful Week 17 game against the Eagles at home -- the winner will be the NFC East division winner and land a home game in the playoffs (potentially against the loser of the game). Still, Suisham isn't a reliable Fantasy option for Week 17 -- consider other kickers.
News: The Dallas Cowboys have cut placekicker Nick Folk and replaced him with Shaun Suisham. Suisham previously kicked for Dallas in 2005 and 2006. He was released on Washington on Dec. 8 after missing several kicks - the same problem that cost Folk his job Monday. Folk clanged the right upright on an easy 24-yarder that would have put away Saturday night's 24-17 victory against the unbeaten Saints. Instead, the Dallas defense had to make one more stand against one of the league's best offenses.
Analysis: Suisham was replaced in Washington with Graham Gano after problems missing, just as Folk had in Dallas. Suisham knows Washington's turf, which is where the Week 16 game will be played. That adds some Fantasy value to Suisham for the week but we still can't possibly recommend him right now.
News: The Redskins announced that they have signed K Graham Gano and released K Shaun Suisham. Gano is rookie from Florida State and was in the Ravens camp this summer. Suisham was released after missing critical field goals in losses to Dallas and New Orleans in recent weeks.
Analysis: Neither kicker is worth owning in Fantasy play -- there are far more interesting options available than Gano, who didn't make the cut with the Ravens from training camp this summer, or Suisham, who is unemployed. Look elsewhere for kicking help in standard formats.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham finished the Week 13 loss to New Orleans with 12 points, easily one of his best games of the season. Of course, he missed what could have been the game-icing short field goal near the end of regulation that allowed the Saints to come down and tie the score and force overtime. Suisham finished 3 of 4 on field goals with a long of 32 yards. He was 3 of 3 on PATs.
Analysis: Washington plays at Oakland in Week 14. The Raiders have a solid pass defense but a terrible rush defense. This could translate into yards without scoring touchdowns for Washington. That means Suisham might never have more Fantasy value. Still, hes only low end based on his previous history this season.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham went 1 for 1 on field goals as he connected from 25 yards out in the Week 12 loss at Philadelphia. He was 3 for 3 on PATs and finished with six points in the loss.
Analysis: The Redskins play one of the better teams in the NFL in Week 13 at home against the Saints. Since Suisham hasnt scored in double figures all year, we dont see it happening in Week 13. Hes not worth using in Fantasy play.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham finished with six points in the Week 11 loss at Dallas. Suisham connected on field goals of 45 and 31 yards but also missed twice in the game. He finished 2 of 4 in the game on field goals and was 0 for 0 on PATs.
Analysis: Suisham has not been in double figures in scoring once this season and doesn't figure to be in Week 12 at Philadelphia. He managed five points against the Eagles in Week 7. He has limited Fantasy value and should be kept on waivers.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham finished the Week 10 win over Denver with nine points in the game. Suisham connected on two 4th-quarter field goals from 30 and 35 yards out and finished 3 of 3 on PATs.
Analysis: Suisham has scored nine points twice this season but has yet to score in double figures in any game. The Redskins offense is too dismal for Suisham to be considered a viable Fantasy option. Keep him on waivers for Week 11 at Dallas.
News: Washington kicker Shaun Suisham finished with five points in the Week 9 loss at Atlanta. Suisham hit a 48-yard field goal and was 2 of 2 on PATs.
Analysis: The Redskins offense is too dismal for Suisham to be considered a viable Fantasy option. Keep him on waivers for Week 10 against Denver.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham was 1 for 1 on field goals and hit from 47 yards out on Monday night in a loss to Philadelphia. Suisham added one extra point and finished with four points on the night.
Analysis: The Redskins offense is too dismal for Suisham to be considered a viable Fantasy option. Keep him on waivers for Week 8. The Redskins have a bye next week.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham went 2 for 2 on field goals and did not attempt an extra point in the Redskins' 14-6 loss to the Chiefs in Week 6. Suisham connected from 40 and 28 yards out. He finished with six points.
Analysis: The Redskins continue to struggle to score points and that has limited Suisham. He had to fight for his job until the final cuts this season. After missing an NFL worst 10 field goals last season, Suisham is 8 for 8 this season after his two 3rd-quarter field goals. Still, he's nothing but a bye-week replacement option for Week 7 against the Eagles.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham recorded 5 points against the Panthers in a losing effort in Week 5. Suisham connected on his only field goal attempt from 38 yards out in the 2nd quarter. He went 2 for 2 on PATs.
Analysis: Suisham is averaging five Fantasy points per game this season for Washington and the Redskins continue to struggle to score points against terrible teams. They play another bad team Week 6 against Kansas City but at this point it is obvious that Suisham should be a one-week bye replacement, at best.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham had an interesting afternoon against the Bucs in a Week 4 win. Suisham attempted just one field goal and connected from 42 yards out. That is where the normality of his game ends. Suisham was asked to punt three times after Hunter Smith got injured and he also missed an extra point. He went 1 of 2 on PATs and finished with 4 points on the afternoon.
Analysis: The Redskins' kicker is a perfect 5 for 5 on field goals this season and Week 4 saw him connect on his long of 42 yards. Washington's offense has been dismal and he was expected to have a good game Week 4 against a porous Tampa Bay defense. He was still pretty bad as the 'Skins' offense seems to play down to the level of its competition. Washington plays at winless Carolina in Week 5. That is another solid matchup for Suisham but we still think he's nothing but a low-end Fantasy option for Week 5.
News: The Redskins managed just 14 points in a loss to Detroit on Sunday and kicker Shaun Suisham was limited to just 2 points as he went 2 of 2 on PATs.
Analysis: Suisham has 16 points in three games this season and has yet to have a double-digit performance. He's 4 for 4 on field goals and 4 for 4 on PATs. Still, Washington struggles to score points but they moved the ball pretty well in Week 3. They should do the same in Week 4 at home against hapless Tampa Bay. That could make Suisham a solid Fantasy option in Week 4.
News: Washington defeated the Rams 9-7 on Sunday of Week 2 in Washington. All nine points were scored on field goals as Shaun Suisham went 3 for 3. He connected on a long of 28 in the game and finished with 9 points.
Analysis: Suisham has 14 points total this year after two games and is 4 for 4 on field goals. The Redskins offense has not been very good and hasn't given him many extra point attempts. Suisham is no more than a bye-week replacement in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 2 despite the good matchup in Detroit.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham got only one field-goal attempt at the Giants in the season opener, connecting on a 27-yarder. He also had two extra points.
Analysis: The Redskins offense struggled Sunday, not that it's supposed to be explosive. Suisham is no more than a bye-week replacement in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 2 despite the good matchup against the Rams.
News: Redskins K Dave Rayner was released on Saturday, handing the starting job to Sean Suisham.
Analysis: Suisham isn't the best kicker on the board and Washington doesn't exactly have a high-powered offense. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy option at best. Rayner can obviously be ignored in all formats.
News: Redskins coach Jim Zorn said he's "very undecided" about the kicker competition between Shaun Suisham and Dave Rayner. Because there haven't been sufficient opportunities during games to differentiate the two, the Redskins held a "kick-off" during practice last week. "Nobody missed a thing," Zorn said. "I'm waiting for the last possible minute to have to make that choice because there's no clear cut guy."
Analysis: While the Redskins try to figure out which kicker is the better option, your plan here is easy: avoid both. Suisham and Rayner both have a history of being inconsistent and are not worth selecting when there are 31 other kickers out there for your use in Fantasy.
News: The Redskins have re-signed kicker Shaun Suisham. He went 26-for-36 (72 percent) on field-goal tries, the worst rate among NFL kickers with more than 10 attempts. For his career, Suisham is 67-for-86 (77.9 percent) on field goals. He has made 76 of 77 extra-point attempts. Last month, the Redskins signed Dave Rayner as possible competition for Suisham in training camp.
Analysis: Neither Rayner nor Suisham is worth owning in Fantasy play because they have yet to prove that they are reliable kickers. Consider most other options at draft time.
News: The Redskins signed kicker Dave Rayner on Wednesday, giving incumbent Shaun Suisham a possible competitor during training camp. Rayner has played for five teams in four seasons since being picked by Indianapolis in the sixth round of the 2005 draft out of Michigan State. His best season came with Green Bay in 2006, when he made 26-of-35 field goal attempts. Last season, he spent two games on Cincinnati's roster while regular kicker Shayne Graham was injured. Rayner made his only field goal attempt with the Bengals, a 26-yarder.
Analysis: Neither Rayner nor Suisham is worth owning in Fantasy play because they have yet to prove that they are reliable kickers. Consider most other options.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham was 1-for-1 on field goals in Week 17's loss to the Niners as he connected from 41-yards out in the 2nd quarter. Suisham added three extra points for a total of six on the game.
Analysis: Suisham hasn't been in double figures since Week 8 at Detroit and has accomplished that feat four times this season. The Redskins offense dropped big time in the second half and so did Suisham's stats. He also had trouble with distance in the middle of the season and the Redskins may try to find a different option next season. Suisham is not a recommended Fantasy kicker heading into 2009.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham did not practice with the team Wednesday for a reason not related to injury. Suisham was 1-for-1 kicking field goal in Week 16.
Analysis: Although the Redskins are playing the 49ers this week, Suisham is still not a recommended kicker in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers or get another kicker for the final week of the season.
News: Redskins kicker Shaun Suisham missed his first field goal attempt of Week 16's game against the Eagles. Suisham rebounded to nail a 33 yarder in the 2nd quarter for his only made 3-pointer of the day. He was 1-for-1 on PATs for a total of four points.
Analysis: Suisham has just seven field goals over his last five weeks for the Redskins with five missed attempts. He hasn't scored in double figures in six straight and that should likely continue in Week 17 against San Francisco. Suisham is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham connected on both field goals he attempted in Week 15's loss to the Bengals. Suisham made good from 23 and 36 yards out and was 1-for-1 on extra points for a total of seven points on the game.
Analysis: Suisham has just six field goals over his last four weeks for the Redskins with four missed attempts. He hasn't scored in double figures in five straight and that should likely continue in Week 16 against Philadelphia, though he did score 11 points against them in Week 5. That was a different Washington team, however, and Suisham is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: In the Redskins' 24-10 loss at the Ravens in Week 14, PK Shaun Suisham made 1-of-2 field goals and one extra point. On the year, Suisham has made 22-of-31 field goals.
Analysis: Suisham is a candidate to be replaced by the Redskins, but it might wait until after the regular season. Fantasy owners shouldn't be trusting him in the first place, and that includes when he and the Redskins play at the Bengals in Week 15.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham is becoming unreliable for the Redskins. In Week 13's loss to the Giants, Suisham missed a 42-yard field goal in his only 3-point attempt. Suisham did connect on one extra point as he got just one point for the game.
Analysis: Suisham has had a problem recently being short on kicks from 40-50 yards out. He wasn't short against New York but the result was the same. With just one double digit effort in his last seven contests, Suisham is not a recommended option in Week 14 at Baltimore. The Ravens will not give Washington enough opportunity to score.
News: Washington kicker Shaun Suisham went 2-for-3 on field goals in Week 12's win over Seattle but missed a short 43-yarder early in the game. It was his second missed field goal in as many weeks to fall short of the crossbars from a manageable distance. He connected on field goals of 26 and 22 yards in the game and was 2-for-2 on PATs for a total of eight points.
Analysis: The Redskins can't rely on a guy who doesn't have the ability to kick a 50-yard field goal. His season long is 50 but he's done that once. He's gone three straight weeks in single digits in points and that makes him a low-end kicker in Week 13 against the Giants.
News: In the Redskins' 14-10 loss vs. the Cowboys in Week 11, PK Shaun Suisham made 1-of-2 field goals and one XP try.
Analysis: Suisham has not been an optimal Fantasy kicking option as the Redskins offense has struggled in recent weeks. He'll kick at Seattle in Week 12 and might be good for somewhere between six and eight Fantasy points. If that will do, then you should start him; if not, keep him on the waiver wire and get your kicks elsewhere.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham made two long field goals -- a 43-yarder and a 44-yarder -- Week 9 against the Steelers, but he didn't contribute an extra point. He was coming off a four field goal effort.
Analysis: The Redskins have an inconsistent offense, meaning Suisham will have inconsistent performances. You could do worse in Fantasy, but he remains more of a No. 2 option Week 11 against the Cowboys. The team has a bye in Week 10.
News: Washington kicker Shaun Suisham missed a 51-yard field goal for the Redskins against the Lions in Week 8. That was Suisham's only mistake. He connected on field goals of 25, 47, 45 and 42 yards to help Washington beat Detroit. Suisham was also 1-for-1 for a total of 13 points in the game.
Analysis: Suisham took advantage of Washington's ability to drive and inability to punch the ball into the end zone. He'll continue to be an excellent Fantasy kicking option every week for Washington and Fantasy owners and is a must-start in Week 9 vs. Pittsburgh.
News: Washington kicker Shaun Suisham did not have a very good game against the Browns in Week 7 in Washington. The Redskins won the game 14-11 and Suisham was 0-for-1 on field goals. He kicked one in the first half that barely got off the ground and clanked off the bottom of the goalpost. Suisham was 2-for-2 on extra points for a total of two points on the afternoon.
Analysis: Suisham has been pretty solid this season with the Redskins. This was just the second time he failed to record at least one field goal and was his second lowest output of the season. With the Redskins ability to move the ball and the fact that they've had trouble punching it into the end zone in recent weeks, that makes Suisham a solid starting option in Fantasy. The Redskins go to Detroit in Week 7 and should be able to put up some points, making Suisham a great choice in Fantasy.
News: Washington kicker Shaun Suisham totaled five points in a loss to the Rams on Sunday. Suisham was 1-for-1 on field goals as he connected from 38 yards out in the fourth quarter. Suisham was also 2-for-2 on extra points.
Analysis: The Redskins have proven they can march down field and score points and that makes Suisham a decent option as a kicker. In Week 7 against the lowly Browns, consider Suisham a decent No. 1 kicking option.
News: Washington kicker Shaun Suisham helped the Redskins stay in the game early and eventually win on Sunday of Week 5 against the Eagles. Suisham was all the scoring in the second quarter as he nailed three straight kicks of 41, 48 and 50 yards. He finished 3-for-3 on field goals and was also 2-for-2 on extra points for a total of 11 points on the day.
Analysis: The Redskins have proven they can march down field and score points and that makes Suisham a decent option as a kicker. In Week 6 against the lowly Rams, consider Suisham a decent No. 1 kicking option.
News: Washington kicker Shaun Suisham had quite a day for the Redskins in their Week 4 win over the Cowboys in Dallas. Suisham connected on four field goals (20, 33, 33 and 29) and was 2-for-2 on extra points for a total of 14 points.
Analysis: The Redskins have proven they can march down field and score points and that makes Suisham a decent option as a kicker. In Week 5 against the Eagles, consider Suisham a decent high-end No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Washington kicker Shaun Suisham helped the Redskins beat the Cardinals on Sunday by scoring six points. Suisham was 1-for-2 on field goals as he hit a 48 yarder but couldn't connect on what would have been his career long. He also went 3-for-3 on extra points.
Analysis: The Redskins will kick a lot of field goals this season and Suisham remains a decent starting option at kicker. In Week 4 against the Cowboys, consider Suisham a decent high-end No. 2 option.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham racked up 11 points on Sunday in a win over the Saints as he connected on three field goals. Suisham hit from 22, 36 and 35 yards but also missed twice. He was 2-for-2 on extra points.
Analysis: Suisham put up a good deal of points but did miss two field goals. One of them wasn't his fault as it was a bad snap. The Redskins will kick a lot of field goals this season and Suisham remains a decent starting option at kicker. In Week 3 against the Cardinals, Suisham could certainly warrant a few starts.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham had a very easy night Week 1 against the Giants. The Redskins scored just once on a Santana Moss' touchdown in the second quarter and Suisham nailed his lone extra point. However, he did not attempt a field goal.
Analysis: There is a lot of excitement building around Jim Zorn's first year as head coach, but Washington didn't have a very good debut. Suisham had just one 1-point outing in 2007 and finished with 116 points. He will look for better results Week 2 against the Saints. Suisham remains a low-end Fantasy kicker.
News: Redskins PK Shaun Suisham hit on 29-of-35 field goals in 2007 (1-of-2 from 50-plus yards) with 29-of-30 extra points made. This easily made for Suisham's best year in three NFL seasons.
Analysis: With the Redskins moving to a West Coast Offense in 2008, Suisham might see more chances to hit field goals and extra points. Think of him as a low-end No. 1/top-end No. 2 Fantasy kicker in 2008.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham made all five of his kicks -- two field goals and three extra points -- Week 17 against the Cowboys. His longer field goal went for 46 yards.
Analysis: Suisham finished the season on a high note, scoring at least six points in his last nine games. Still, he doesn't play for an explosive team and will probably go undrafted in 2008.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham booted through one field goal and kicked three extra points during a Week 16 win against the Vikings. It is the second time in three games he recorded six points. He kicked a 26-yard field goal against the Vikings.
Analysis: Suisham has been on the field much more in recent weeks, and Todd Collins is actually moving the Redskins offense. Suisham has managed six or more points in his last eight games. Consider him a viable Fantasy option Week 17 against the Cowboys.
News: For the third straight game in Week 15 against the Giants, Redskins K Shaun Suisham attempted three field goals. However, unlike Week 14 in which he missed two attempts, he hit on all three against New York. He converted from 28, 31 and 49 yards. He also hit on his lone extra point.
Analysis: Suisham should have recorded his third straight double-digit performance Week 15, but he slipped up Week 14. He has been on the field much more in recent weeks, and now that Todd Collins is under center, don't be surprised if Suisham is needed frequently in the final weeks. Consider him a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 16 against the Vikings.
News: It was not a pretty game for Redskins K Shaun Suisham. The third-year veteran missed two field goals before connecting on a 23-yard attempt in the fourth quarter. Suisham missed a 47-yard attempt in the first quarter and then hooked a 37-yarder in the second quarter. He didn't miss on any of his three extra points.
Analysis: It would have been a great Fantasy day for Suisham had he made all his field goals. But as fate has it, he finished with six points. He does have six or more points in his last six games after a very slow start to the season. Still, he is merely a low-end Fantasy flier heading into Week 15 against the Giants.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham converted three field goals and an extra point in Week 13 vs. Buffalo, finishing with 10 points.
Analysis: Suisham is a sleeper as far as Fantasy kickers are concerned. He is not on a team with a very potent offense, but it is an offense that tends to stall in field goal range often. Use him in larger leagues for Week 14 vs. Chicago.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham kicked field goals of 43 and 38 yards and kicked a PAT in Washington's 19-13 loss to Tampa Bay in Week 12.
Analysis: Suisham came into Week 12 as a pretty hot kicker, but six turnovers by the offense limited his chances in the loss. He is probably not worth using in Week 13 against the Bills.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham converted three-of-four field goals in Week 11 at Dallas. He added two extra points and finished with 11 points.
Analysis: Suisham has been a useful Fantasy kicker in each of the last three weeks, totaling 34 points in those games. In Week 12, consider him a decent start in leagues of 12-plus leagues when the Redskins travel to Tampa Bay.
News: Redskins PK Shaun Suisham nailed two field goals and one of two extra points in Week 10 vs. Philadelphia.
Analysis: Suisham is a decent kicker to use when the matchup is right. That won't be the case at Dallas in Week 11. Look elsewhere for your Fantasy kicker.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham converted all five of his field goal attempts in Week 9 at the Jets, including a 46-yard game-winner in overtime. He finished with 15 points.
Analysis: Suisham tied a franchise record with his fifth field goal, but no one really benefited in Fantasy play. Suisham is owned in just nine percent of CBSSports.com leagues and was starting in only three percent. The way the Redskins offense has been stalling lately, Suisham could be very useful as a bye week replacement in Week 10 vs. Philadelphia.
News: Redskins PK Shaun Suisham nailed an extra point Week 8 at the Patriots. That's all the work he got in.
Analysis: Consider Suisham a low-end starting option when the Redskins play at the Jets in Week 9. They should put up some points in that game.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham converted all three of his extra point attempts Week 7 against the Cardinals, but failed to connect on a 41-yard field goal.
Analysis: The Redskins just don't have a high-powered offense and that doesn't afford Suisham many chances to put points on the board. He is nothing more than a bye-week Fantasy replacement. The Redskins play the Patriots in Week 8.
News: Redskins kicker Shaun Suisham didn't attempt a field goal Sunday against Green Bay. He did kick two extra points.
Analysis: Suisham should bounce back for a better game in Week 7 against Arizona. Consider him a low-end No. 1 option.
News: Washington kicker Shaun Suisham was 1-of-2 on field goals and perfect on three extra points. His field goal was from 28 yards.
Analysis: Suisham is a solid kicker and is worth using in Week 6 at Green Bay.
News: The Det/Wash game in Week 5 could be surprisingly high-scoring if the Redskins offense comes to play, and I think it will. That should bode well for Suisham, who has made 6-of-7 field goals and all five extra points on the season.
Analysis: Detroit is one of the worst defenses in the NFL at 30.2 points per game, and Suisham should get a least two or three looks at field goals in the game. If you need a bye-week replacement in a deeper league, take a look at the Skins' kicker.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham made one field goal and missed another during a Week 3 loss to the Giants. Suisham made good on a 47-yard attempt as time expired in the second quarter, but missed on a 39-yard attempt during the team's opening drive. He finished with five points after converting both his extra points.
Analysis: Washington is not an offensive juggernaut by anyone's standards, and Suisham should only be used as a bye-week Fantasy replacement when the matchups appear favorable. The Redskins are on a bye in Week 4 and return to action Week 5 against the Lions.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham is perfect on the season with five field goals and three extra points. Last year against the Giants in the season-finale, Suisham had four extra points and no field goals. The Giants are last in the NFL in scoring defense.
Analysis: Washington is not an offensive juggernaut by anyone's standards, but Suisham could find himself with a number of chances to score on Sunday against the Giants. We consider him a high-end No. 2 Fantasy kicker for Week 3.
News: Shaun Suisham booted two field goals (35, 37) and he tacked on two extra points in Week 2 at Philadelphia in a win.
Analysis: Suisham remains a useful Fantasy option in deeper Fantasy leagues heading into Week 3 against the Giants.
News: In his last game against the Eagles, Washington K Shaun Suisham was 4-of-4 on field goals with a long of 45. He started off the season against Miami by converting all three field goal attempts, including the game-winner in overtime.
Analysis: Suisham is on a mediocre team, but could get plenty of FG opportunities this season as the Redskins don't have a ton of touchdown threats after Clinton Portis. See if he can have another solid game in Week 2 at Philadelphia. If he does, consider him a nice No. 2 kicker.
News: According to the Washington Post, Redskins K Shaun Suisham fulfilled a lifelong ambition Sunday, getting to attempt a game-ending field goal for the first time. Suisham, who hit all three chances Sunday, had never tried a game-winner like that before -- not in the NFL, not in college, not in high school, not that he could ever recall -- but connected from 39 yards in overtime.
Analysis: Considering he'd never been in a pressure situation like that before, Suisham looked remarkably calm in slotting his game-winning kick right down the middle in the Redskins' OT win over the Dolphins in Week 1. Calm under fire is a great trait to have as a kicker, so keep an eye on how Suisham does in Week 2 at Philadelphia.
News: Washington K Shaun Suisham was 3-for-3 on field goals and made an extra point in the Redskins' Week 1 OT victory vs. Miami.
Analysis: Suisham finished the 2006 season strongly and got off to a quick start in '07 with a solid outing Sunday against the Dolphins. His game-winner was right down the pipe and if Suisham can continue this pace, he might be worth picking up in deeper leagues. Keep an eye on him to see how he does in Week 2 at Philadelphia.
News: If the kicker were Mark Moseley and the punter were Steve Cox -- and it was so often during Joe Gibbs I -- it would be easy to understand why the Washington Redskins wouldn't have anyone else at either position at training camp. Instead, the kicker is Shaun Suisham and the punter is Derrick Frost, two young players who have the rare luxury of a camp without competition. Kicker Tyler Fredrickson was around for the first few days, but he was cut last week when the team needed to add players at other positions because of injuries. "I didn't like doing that," coach Gibbs said. "It puts us in a little bit of a bind."
Analysis: Gibbs is concerned that there is no Plan B in case Suisham or Frost gets injured or doesn't perform well. Neither is a sure thing, but both played well enough last year -- particularly in the clutch -- to earn their coaches' trust. Suisham made eight of nine field goals, including a 52-yarder that sent the game to overtime against St. Louis, after joining the Redskins late in the season. He replaced Nick Novak, who replaced John Hall. Suisham, in fact, is the 16th kicker Washington has used in a regular-season game since 1995. Suisham is worth considering as a low-end kicking option in 2007 so long as he has the job all to himself in Washington.
News: Washington PK Shaun Suisham filled in for an injured John Hall starting in December, connecting on 8-of-9 field goals and 12 extra points. He also kicked for Dallas to start the season, totaling five points (one field goal, two extra points).
Analysis: Suisham is worth considering as a low-end kicking option in 2007 so long as he has the job all to himself in Washington.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham attempted no field goals, but converted on four PATs in a Week 17 loss to the Giants.
Analysis: It is not for certain that Suisham will be back with the Redskins in 2007, so it is hard to say what his Fantasy value will be heading into next season. Monitor his offseason progress before passing judgment on him in drafts next season.
News: Redskins kicker Shaun Suisham was 1-of-1 on field goals with a 52-yarder and 4-of-4 on extra points against the Rams.
Analysis: Consider Suisham a low-end No. 1 option for Week 17 against the Giants.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham converted three field goals and an extra point attempt in Week 15 at New Orleans, finishing with 10 points on the day.
Analysis: Suisham has put together two great weeks in a row, but most Fantasy owners haven't even noticed. Consider him a decent option for Week 16 at St. Louis where he will be kicking inside a dome again.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham converted on four field goal attempts in Week 14 vs. Philadelphia. He added an extra-point attempt.
Analysis: Suisham had a great Fantasy day, but did anyone use him? He should be a good option for Week 15 at New Orleans in leagues of 12-plus teams if a replacement is needed.
News: Nick Novak was cut by the Washington Redskins on Monday, leaving Shaun Suisham as the team's only kicker despite an inauspicious debut. Suisham, signed from the practice squad Saturday, missed wide left with his only field goal attempt - a 50-yarder - and hit several line-drive kickoffs in Sunday's 24-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. But that was still enough for the Redskins to give him the nod over Novak, who made only 5 of 10 field attempts this season and regularly left his kickoffs short. Novak missed a 37-yard field goal last week against Carolina, prompting the Redskins to sign Suisham to the practice squad and then to the active roster. Suisham, who spent parts of this season and last season with Dallas, is the 16th kicker the Redskins have used in a regular season game since 1995. John Hall started the season but was placed on injured reserve in October with a leg injury and replaced by Novak.
Analysis: Release Novak immediately and consider Suisham a No. 2 kicker for Week 14 against the Eagles.
News: Redskins K Shaun Suisham, signed off the practice squad on Saturday, made his Redskins debut in a Week 13 loss to the Falcons. He missed his lone field goal attempt in the game, but converted on both extra point attempts.
Analysis: It is not known what the Redskins plan to do with their kicking situation, as they now have Suisham and Nick Novak on the roster. Whatever is the case, Suisham is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 14 vs. Philadelphia.
News: The Washington Redskins signed Shaun Suisham from the practice squad Saturday, giving the team an alternative to struggling kicker Nick Novak for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Redskins coach Joe Gibbs was unavailable for comment, so it was unclear how he planned to use his two kickers. A likely scenario would have Suisham handling kickoffs and Novak kicking extra points and field goals. Novak has made only 5-of-10 field goal attempts this season, and his kickoffs have been short. Suisham was primarily a kickoff specialist earlier this season with Dallas. He was signed to the Redskins practice squad on Tuesday. To make room for Suisham on the active roster, the Redskins waived defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti.
Analysis: Neither player should be used for Fantasy purposes in Week 13.
News: Redskins coach Joe Gibbs wouldn't reveal his plans for the kicking situation on Sunday. Shaun Suisham was signed to the practice squad on Tuesday as a possible alternative to Nick Novak, who has been struggling with both field goals and kickoffs. If Suisham plays, the Redskins would have to make a roster move to promote him to the 53-man squad. "We'll take all the information and make the best decision you can," Gibbs said. "We definitely want to help ourselves on kickoffs, and we want to have a better percentage on field goals."
Analysis: Neither player should be used for Fantasy purposes in Week 13. But if Suisham gets added to the roster, he might be worth adding to your roster in the coming weeks.
News: The Redskins signed kicker Shaun Suisham to the practice squad on Tuesday, effectively putting Nick Novak on notice after another inconsistent performance. Novak has made only 5 of 10 field goal attempts this year, a 50 percent success rate that is last among current regular kickers. Novak went 1-for-2 in Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers, missing from 37 yards and converting from 42, and coach Joe Gibbs said he was also concerned about the depth's of Novak's kickoffs.
Analysis: Novak should not be on Fantasy rosters to begin with because of his inconsistency. If Suisham were to ever play for the Redskins, he'd be at best a low-end option in the deepest of Fantasy Football leagues.
News: The San Francisco 49ers signed cornerback Donald Strickland on Tuesday, adding another veteran defender to one of the NFL's worst defenses. Strickland, a San Francisco native, started 12 games during 2 1/2 seasons with the Colts, who waived him last year. He also played three games for the Eagles in 2005. The 49ers waived cornerback B.J. Tucker to make room for Strickland, but the club hopes to sign Tucker to the practice squad Wednesday. San Francisco also re-signed linebacker Renauld Williams to the practice squad and waived kicker Shaun Suisham and tackle Sam Wilder from the practice squad.
Analysis: Nobody mentioned above is worth adding in Fantasy IDP league play.
News: The 49ers signed K Shaun Suisham to the practice squad.
Analysis: Suisham started the season with Dallas and was cut and re-signed a few times by them this season. Suisham could eventually become the 49ers kicker, if starter Joe Nedney continues to struggle. Until that happens, Suisham has no Fantasy value in any format.
News: The Cowboys cut PK Shaun Suisham, then signed him to their practice squad, reports the Dallas Morning News.
Analysis: As long as Mike Vanderjagt is healthy, Suisham is not worth owning in Fantasy Football leagues.
News: According to ESPN, Cowboys K Mike Vanderjagt will handle all the team's kicking duties Sunday vs. Houston. The report also stated that the Cowboys released kicker Shaun Suisham.
Analysis: Suisham had pretty much no Fantasy value before and now he really doesn't have any value. He might get picked up by another team, but there is no need to hold onto him for that reason.
News: According to The Dallas Morning News, PK Mike Vanderjagt and Shaun Suisham will be making the trip to Philadelphia in Week 5. Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells is unsure though if both kickers will be utilized. Parcells said if he were to use only one kicker, it would be Vanderjagt.
Analysis: Suisham still doesn't have any Fantasy value. If he does play, it will be strictly on kickoffs. If Vanderjagt's poor kicking performance continues, then Suisham might take over the kicking duties. Until then, keep him away from your Fantasy roster.
News: The Cowboys listed K Shaun Suisham, WR Jamaica Rector, WR Miles Austin, CB Nate Jones, DT J'Vonne Parker, and LB Bobby Carpenter inactive for Week 4.
Analysis: None of these players should be considered viable Fantasy options at the moment.
News: According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells has yet to announce publicly whether to carry kickers Mike Vanderjagt and Shaun Suisham on Sunday's roster against the Titans. However, a source close to the situation said both will play against the Titans.
Analysis: Translation: Suisham will handle kickoffs if active. Consider him not a useful Fantasy option in Week 4 at Tennessee unless Vanderjagt suffers some sort of injury setback.
News: Mike Vanderjagt made his regular season debut for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2 against the Redskins. He connected on two successful field goal attempts (26, 50) and he tacked on three extra points.
Analysis: Dallas is carrying two kickers, as K Shaun Suisham covered kickoffs and Vanderjagt covered field goals and extra points. Suisham is not a useful Fantasy option in Week 4 at Tennessee unless Vanderjagt suffers some sort of a setback.
News: Although Cowboys coach Bill Parcells maintained Friday that he hasn't made a decision on whether Vanderjagt or Shaun Suisham would kick field goals against Washington on Sunday, a source told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Thursday that Vanderjagt was going to get the nod. Vanderjagt wouldn't confirm or deny his status for Sunday. "I don't know. I have been sworn to secrecy," Vanderjagt said with laugh.
Analysis: If Dallas was to carry two kickers, Suisham would cover kickoffs and Vanderjagt would cover field goals. Suisham is not a reliable Fantasy kicker.
News: The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Dallas PK Mike Vanderjagt (groin) will be active for Week 2 vs. Washington, according to an NFL source. Cowboys coach Bill Parcells told the media Thursday that he was considering using two roster spots on kickers for the game. "I want to talk to the coaches about possibly two kickers," Parcells said. "There's a possibility we might do that. I don't really want to do that, but we might." Dallas' other kicker, Shaun Suisham, was 1-for-2 kicking field goals in Week 1, hitting a 32-yard try and clanging a 36-yard kick off the right upright.
Analysis: If Dallas was to carry two kickers, Suisham would cover kickoffs and Vanderjagt would cover field goals. Suisham is not a reliable Fantasy kicker.
News: Cowboys kicker Mike Vanderjagt was healthy before last Sunday's season opener against the Jaguars and he is healthy now. But Cowboys coach Bill Parcells didn't allow Vanderjagt to kick in the opener, choosing instead to go with backup Shaun Suisham. "I hadn't seen enough in practice up to this point to play him Sunday," Parcells said. "I just hadn't seen enough. Now maybe this week it'll look a little different to me, I hope. I don't have a degree in psychology, and I can't speculate on what somebody's thinking. But you need to demonstrate to gain confidence, and so far that's been a little bit of a problem."
Analysis: While Parcells is not ready to abandon hope Vanderjagt can return to his past form, Parcells said he has to see more than he has seen so far. "It's a long year," Parcells said. "But I do have to see something. To go out there and you are not making a lot of kicks, it's tough. We will decide later this week." Regarding Suisham, Parcells said he kicked off well against the Jaguars but was undone by the missed field goal and a poor onside kick attempt. He kicks off much better than Vanderjagt but he still an unproven kicker. Despite Vanderjagt's struggles, he does have the history being the most accurate kicker in NFL history. Avoid the Cowboys' kickers in Week 2.
News: Shaun Suisham, getting the start in place of Mike Vanderjagt (groin) in Week 1 at Jacksonville, booted a 32-yard field goal and added two extra points. He also missed a 36-yard attempt off of the right upright.
Analysis: Suisham is not worth using in any Fantasy league for Week 2 against Washington even if Vanderjagt is still unable to play.
News: According to ESPN.com, Cowboys K Mike Vanderjagt did not make the trip to Jacksonville and will not kick against the Jaguars. Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells said he planned to use Shaun Suisham in his place against Jacksonville.
Analysis: Suisham is a viable option in deeper leagues, but consider that you will likely need to use two transactions on him in leagues where you are charged for transactions. You'll need to add him and then you'll need to drop him once Vanderjagt is ready to return.
News: Mike Vanderjagt probably won't kick in the regular season opener for the Dallas Cowboys, though coach Bill Parcells reserves the right to change his mind. Parcells said Friday that Shaun Suisham would likely kick Sunday against Jacksonville instead of Vanderjagt. The NFL's most accurate field goal kicker has been hampered by a groin injury throughout training camp. "I'm not 100 percent sure right now, but I think I'm going to kick Suisham," Parcells said. "I can change my mind, but I think that's what I'm going to do."
Analysis: Bill Parcells has made the decision easy for Vanderjagt's Fantasy owners with this move. He's one of the handful of kickers that is worth hanging on to despite the fact that he will miss this contest, so you'll want to at least make an effort to keep him on your Fantasy roster if at all possible. Suisham is a viable option in deeper leagues, but consider that you will likely need to use two transactions on him in leagues where you are charged for transactions. You'll need to add him and then you'll need to drop him once Vanderjagt is ready to return.
News: According to radio reports, Cowboys kicker Mike Vanderjagt (groin) will not be active for the team's Week 1 matchup at Jacksonville. Head coach Bill Parcells does not want to suit up two place kickers and will opt to use the roster space on another position player.
Analysis: Suisham is a viable option in deeper leagues, but consider that you will likely need to use two transactions on him in leagues where you are charged for transactions. You'll need to add him and then you'll need to drop him once Vanderjagt is ready to return.
News: The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Cowboys PK Mike Vanderjagt (groin) will be a gametime decision for Week 1 at Jacksonville, head coach Bill Parcells said Thursday. Vanderjagt has practiced all week, but Parcells refuses to activate two kickers for the game. If he can't go, Shaun Suisham will kick for Dallas. Whoever starts will not only have to kick field goals but also kick off, which is Vanderjagt's weakness. "I am more concerned about field goals," Parcells said.
Analysis: Until an official word comes, Vanderjagt should be sat down in leagues. Not only is he a risk because he's not completely healthy, but the Jaguars defense should limit the Cowboys to so many points (assuming they are healthy). If you own Vanderjagt and need to know his status, you may not get an answer until Sunday afternoon about 90 minutes before the game. Shaun Suisham is expected to kick in his place if he can't go.
News: As angry as Bill Parcells was over Mike Vanderjagt missing two short field goals in the preseason finale, the coach said Monday he never considered releasing his new kicker. But the misses did have an impact on the rest of the roster. And there's a chance Vanderjagt (groin) will miss the opener Sunday at Jacksonville. "We'll kick for a while this week and then we'll see what we got to do," Parcells said Monday. Worried about Vanderjagt's health, confidence and perhaps both, the Cowboys opted to keep a second kicker, Shaun Suisham, on the 53-man roster. That was something Parcells hated doing because of the domino effect it had. Parcells said Vanderjagt kicked 50 balls Sunday in hope of working out the kinks.
Analysis: In this offense and stadium, the Cowboys' kicker is expected to be a solid starter in Fantasy play. Vanderjagt has had a decent history when healthy, but owners will want to be wary of starting him in Week 1. Suisham isn't expected to have any Fantasy value once Vanderjagt is healthy.
News: The Ft. Worth Star Telegram reports that Dallas PK Mike Vanderjagt (groin, quad) believes he will be ready to kick in the team's final preseason game. Vanderjagt, who not only wants to kick field goals but also extra points, told the paper he attempted 71 field goals in a drill, making 66 of them, connecting on some as deep as 45 yards. If he cannot kick, Shaun Suisham would take over his duties.
Analysis: The Cowboys do not see a scenario where they will keep both Vanderjagt and Suisham, so unless the newcomer from Indianapolis is hurting, Suisham will probably be out of a job soon. Don't sweat him in Fantasy.
News: The NFL Network reports Mike Vanderjagt (groin, quadriceps) might be in danger of getting cut by Bill Parcells, who is notoriously cold to his kickers. Shaun Suisham finished last season as the No. 1 kicker in Dallas. He made three of four field goals overall.
Analysis: Ouch. Known as the 'Idiot Kicker,' Vanderjagt still was a highly productive option for Fantasy owners. Kickers don't matter in Fantasy, so you can still pick Vanderjagt if you want and cut him later for Suisham, if that's who wins the Cowboys' kicker job.
News: Shaun Suisham finished the season as the No. 1 kicker in Dallas this season. He made three of four field goals overall.
Analysis: Suisham will have little value in 2006 drafts.
News: Billy Cundiff was released by the Cowboys after Week 16. Shaun Suisham was signed to replace him for the rest of the season.
Analysis: Suisham could make for an interesting choice in Week 17 vs. St. Louis since the Dallas offense should have no problem moving the chains.
News: Kickers Shaun Suisham, Matt Fordyce and Jeff Chandler were not offered a job with the Cardinals. The team decided to sign PK Nick Novak to replace Neil Rackers (calf).
Analysis: He has no Fantasy value as a free agent.
News: The East Valley Tribune reports the Cardinals worked out free agent PKs Shaun Suisham, Matt Fordyce, Jeff Chandler and Nick Novak on Friday. The team is trying to replace PK Neil Rackers, who partially tore his calf and could miss three weeks.
Analysis: He only has value if the team makes him their placekicker. The Arizona kicker will be useful at San Francisco in Week 13.
News: Shaun Suisham had three extra points in Week 10 at Philadelphia.
Analysis: The rookie out of Bowling Green is only worth using in Week 11 against Detroit if your primary kicker has an extremely difficult matchup where his team will score very few points.
News: Shaun Suisham recorded 10 points on two field goals (21, 21) and four extra points in Sunday's 34-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Analysis: The Cowboys have a bye in a Week 9, so Suisham should be reserved in all leagues.
News: The Cowboys released K Shaun Suisham from the practice squad.
Analysis: Suisham was nothing more than insurance for regular kicker Jose Cortez. He is not worth watching.
