News: The Browns signed the following three players to Futures contracts: QB Jarrett Brown, DL Scott Paxson and DB Ramzee Robinson.
Analysis: None of these players were or are expected to produce many stats in the first place. Keep them off of Fantasy rosters.
News: The Redskins announced Sunday that they have been awarded CB Ramzee Robinson off waivers from the Browns. Robinson has appeared in 26 career regular season games and has totaled 13 tackles (11 solo), one pass defensed, one fumble recovery and 24 special teams stops in his three seasons in the NFL. Originally drafted by the Lions in the seventh round (No. 255 overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft, Robinson spent his first two NFL seasons with the Lions (2007-2008) before being waived prior to the 2009 season.
Analysis: Washington has minimal Fantasy value even with the Redskins, and he should not be drafted in the majority of leagues. Ignore him in all IDP formats on Draft Day.
News: The Browns inactives for Week 13 against San Diego include DB Gerard Lawson, DB Ramzee Robinson, LB Marcus Bernard, TE Greg Estandia, WR Jake Allen and DL Kenyon Coleman.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using when active. Ignore them in all leagues.
News: The Philadelphia Eagles have signed wide receiver Jordan Norwood off their practice squad and released cornerback Ramzee Robinson. Norwood joined the team's practice squad Sept. 23. He originally signed as a rookie free agent with Cleveland after four seasons at Penn State. Norwood gives the Eagles depth if wideout DeSean Jackson can't play against Atlanta on Sunday because of a concussion.
Analysis: Norwood had 158 receptions for 2,015 yards and 13 touchdowns at Penn State but likely will be inactive in Week 13. Neither guy should be owned in Fantasy play.
News: The Lions listed the following players as inactive for Week 3: QB Drew Stanton (third QB), DB Ramzee Robinson, LB Jordon Dizon, DL Damion Cook, DL Cliff Avril DL, Andre Fluellen and DL Landon Cohen.
Analysis: None of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: Detroit has listed the team's inactives for their Week 1 contest against the Falcons. The players are as follows: QB Drew Stanton, CB Ramzee Robinson, DE Ikaika Alama-Francis, LB Gilbert Gardner, DT Andre Fluellen and DE Landon Cohen. T Damion Cook is officially off the roster.
Analysis: None of these players are expected to produce significant stats on a regular basis to begin with. Keep them off of Fantasy rosters until further notice.
News: A knee injury has ended the season for Detroit Lions cornerback Stanley Wilson. The team placed Wilson on injured reserve list and signed cornerback Ramzee Robinson from the practice squad Wednesday.
Analysis: Robinson is making his second appearance on the active roster. Detroit called him up for a game against Tampa Bay on Oct. 21, when he made two special teams tackles. He will likely serve as a backup defensive back and is not worth using in Fantasy leagues at this time.
News: The Lions waived DB Ramzee Robinson on Monday. Robinson, a seventh-round draft pick, was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game. According to the Detroit News, the move was made to add depth at CB because of an injured groin that kept Stanley Wilson from playing.
Analysis: Robinson had no Fantasy value, so don't shed any tears about this move.
News: The Lions announced Monday that the following players have been signed to their practice squad: WR Ron Bellamy, CB A.J. Davis, DB LaMarcus Hicks, C Ben Noll, CB Ramzee Robinson, RB Anthony Sherrell and TE Rudy Sylvan. Also, as part of the NFL International Development Practice Squad Program, DT Salomon Solano will also spend the season on the team's practice squad in addition to the eight-man practice squad allowed by the NFL.
Analysis: None of these players should be drafted in any Fantasy leagues in 2007. They will not get enough playing time to help your roster this season.
News: The following players were released by the Lions on Saturday: wide receivers Ron Bellamy, Kevin Kasper and Cliff Russell; running backs Aveion Cason and Anthony Sherrell; quarterback Phil Horvath; tight ends Darnell Sanders and Rudy Sylvan; offensive linemen Ben Noll, Clint Stickdorn and Barry Stokes; linebackers Donte Curry and Joe Lobendahn; defensive linemen Claude Harriott, Justin Kurpeikis and Cleveland Pinkney; cornerbacks A.J. Davis, LaMarcus Hicks, Dee McCann and Ramzee Robinson; and punter Micah Knorr.
Analysis: Kasper and Cason were former sleeper prospects for Fantasy Football, as was LB Donte Curry. Ultimately, none of these players should be considered for Fantasy use until they land on a roster and fall into regular playing time. Ignore them all for now.
News: The Lions on Friday signed QB J.T. O'Sullivan, LB Johnny Baldwin and DB Ramzee Robinson, the last player selected in the NFL draft. The team also released quarterback Phil Horvath.
Analysis: None of these players should be drafted in any Fantasy league in 2007-08.
News: Ramzee Robinson, the last player selected in the NFL draft, agreed to a three-year deal with the Detroit Lions. Robinson agreed in principle to the deal on Thursday, his agent Andrew Benedict said Friday. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound cornerback from Alabama became the 23rd player to be recognized as Mr. Irrelevant. He was the 255th selection in the seventh round of the April draft, the last of Detroit's eight picks. The 23-year-old Robinson started 36 of 50 games with the Crimson Tide. He finished his career with 148 tackles -- 100 solo -- 3.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. He had a touchdown, broke up 22 passes and had four interceptions for 96 yards in returns. Critics cite his small size and lack of NFL speed -- he ran a 4.52-second 40-yard dash. But his ability to play cornerback, nickel back and on special teams, coupled with his work ethic, may give him a shot at the practice squad if not the active roster.
Analysis: Robinson will have minimal Fantasy value in 2007. He should not be drafted in any league.
News: Being the last player taken in the NFL draft doesn't necessarily mean Ramzee Robinson won't make the Detroit roster. Somebody has to be picked last every year, and in April it fell to Robinson, a 5-foot-10, 186-pound DB drafted out of Alabama in the seventh round with the 255th selection. He became the 23rd player to be recognized as Mr. Irrelevant, an honor invented by California businessman and former NFL player Paul Salata. By NFL standards, Robinson is both small and not very fast, with a 4.52-second clocking in the 40-yard dash. But his ability to play cornerback, nickel back and on special teams, coupled with his work ethic, could give him a shot at least at the practice squad if not the active roster.
Analysis: It's a good story, but Robinson will have minimal Fantasy value in 2007. He should not be drafted in any league.
News: Aside from first-round pick WR Calvin Johnson, the Lions' 2007 draft class includes: Michigan St. QB Drew Stanton, Hawaii DE Ikaika Alama-Francis, Boise State FS Gerald Alexander, N.C. State CB A.J. Davis, Texas Tech OG Manuel Ramirez, Alabama A&M LB Johnny Baldwin and Alabama CB Ramzee Robinson (who was the final pick of the draft).
Analysis: Stanton has a real live arm with good mobility and size. If he studies under Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz long enough, he could be the long-term answer at quarterback for the Lions. We advise people watch his preseason games if only to check him out for future use. Alama-Francis is another high-motor D-lineman that will fit into Detroit right away as a situational pass rusher once he recovers from a chest injury. Alexander needs an opportunity to start before being considered for Fantasy play, but he's got some potential for tackles and pass defense stats. The rest of the class will provide depth for the Lions and compete for spots along the depth chart.
