George Selvie undergoes surgery on shoulder

(1/17/2014) Cowboys starting defensive end George Selvie recently underwent surgery to repair an injured shoulder, the team has confirmed. He is expected to recover in time to participate in the offseason training program.

(12/27/2013) Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne, DB Jakar Hamilton, WR Dwayne Harris, DT Jason Hatcher, LB DeVonte Holloman, DE George Selvie and DE Jarius Wynn are probable Week 17.

All seven players were able to fully participate in practice Friday. Harris and Claiborne are both dealing with hamstring injuries.

Ware and Selvie are dealing with back injuries. Carter has a neck issue. Carr is listed on the injury report with an illness. 


George Selvie a rare defensive stalwart against Green Bay

(12/16/2013) Defensive end George Selvie was one player who can't be blamed for the monumental collapse of his Cowboys Sunday against the Packers. He did a little bit of everything to prevent it.

Selvie finished tied for the team lead with six tackles, including five solos. He added a sack, led Dallas with two TFLs and recorded a quarterback hit.


Cowboys clear six injured players for Week 13

(11/28/2013) Cowboys tight end Gavin Escobar (hamstring), defensive tackle Jason Hatcher (neck), defensive tackle Nick Hayden (ribs), defensive end George Selvie (shoulder), defensive end DeMarcus Ware (thigh) and safety J.J. Wilcox (knee) were all cleared to play Week 13 vs. Oakland. The only player that wasn't listed as probable was Escobar, who was considered questionable.

Both Hatcher and Ware were limited in practice during the week. Hayden, Selvie and Wilcox were able to practice in full.

Claiborne, Hatcher and Ware were all limited in practice Friday. Hayden, Selvie and Wilcox were able to fully practice all week.

(11/10/2013) Several Cowboys who were listed as probable on the injury report are active for the game at New Orleans. They include defensive end DeMarcus Ware (thigh), defensive end George Selvie (shoulder), safety Danny McCray (hip, toe), defensive tackle Nick Hayden (ribs), receiver Dwayne Harris (hip), and safety Barry Church (hamstring).

Ware missed the past three games, but Dallas managed to win two of them.

Everette Brown, George Selvie reach quarterback

(11/4/2013) Cowboys defensive ends Everette Brown and George Selvie each recorded a sack during the Week 9 win over Minnesota. Both took down Christian Ponder during the win. 

Selvie had three tackles to go with his sack and Brown had two solo stops. 

The 26-year-old Selvie now has 23 combined tackles on the year to go with his six sacks. He has three quarterback takedowns in the last three games. 

Brown, also 26, was playing in his first game for the Cowboys. It was his first sack of the year and seventh for his career.

(11/3/2013) The Cowboys had four defensive players listed as probable for the Week 9 home game against the Vikings Sunday. All four players are active for the game.

(11/1/2013) The Cowboys are dealing with a number of injuries on defense, as nine players are listed on the injury report for Week 9 against the Vikings. Though three players have been ruled out and one is officially doubtful for Sunday's game, they could still be mostly healthy come game time.

Danny McCray (hip, toe) is questionable for the game, while four defensive players are officially probable: defensive linemen Marvin Austin (back), Jason Hatcher (neck) and George Selvie (shoulder) and defensive back Barry Church (hamstring).

Harris was able to get through full practice all week. Both Selvie and Hatcher were limited initially, but improved to full practice status by Friday.

(10/2/2013) Cowboys defensive end George Selvie, who's done a great job filling in for the injured Anthony Spencer, is not practicing Wednesday, reports the Dallas Morning News. Selvie suffered a head injury in the second half of the Week 4 loss in San Diego.

Selvie has three sacks and 11 tackles.


Jason Garrett puts positive spin on Anthony Spencer's absence

(9/23/2013) Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said defensive end Anthony Spencer should be able to play full-time at some point this season, despite the fact he's missed two games with knee problems, reports ESPN.com. Spencer was inactive for Sunday's win over St. Louis after waking up with a sore knee.

“I think it’s realistic,” Garrett told the website. “It’s a long season. Remember, he was hurt for a couple of games early last year. You just keep banging away and keep trying to get better each and every day and week by week, and hopefully he will be healthy and ready to roll.”

Spencer had arthroscopic knee surgery on July 25. Garrett said he hopes Spencer will be available Week 4 in San Diego.

Spencer's replacement, George Selvie, has played well and recorded two sacks.
