News: Panthers kicker Graham Gano was 3 of 4 on field goals with five extra points Sunday in Week 17 at New Orleans. His long field goal was from 42 yards.
Analysis: Gano is expected to return as the starting kicker for the Panthers in 2013, and he should be considered a low-end option. He is not worth drafting in the majority of leagues.
News: For the first time since joining the Panthers, kicker Graham Gano missed a field-goal attempted in Week 16 against the Raiders. Gano missed a 48-yard field goal in the first half, but he came back to connect from 51 yards out in the fourth quarter. He added a pair of extra points, in a 17-6 win.
Analysis: Gano has connected on 6 of 7 field goal tries in over five games, as he has not had many opportunities to produce. Week 16 was his second chance to kick multiple field goals, and he missed one. At this point, Gano should be left for the deeper Fantasy formats for Week 17 against the Saints.
News: Panthers kicker Graham Gano made his lone field-goal attempt in Week 15 against the Chargers. He connected from 33 yards out in the second quarter and converted all four of his extra points in the 31-7 win.
Analysis: Gano has made all five of his field goals since joining the Panthers a few weeks ago but remains a low-end option in Fantasy. Continue to ignore him in all but the deepest of formats heading into Week 16 against the Raiders.
News: Kicker Graham Gano, who the Panthers didn't add to the roster until Week 12, had easily his best game in his three with his new team Week 14 against the Falcons. He hit three field goals -- a 24-yarder, a 41-yarder and a 31-yarder -- and three extra points. He had just one field goal in his first two games combined.
Analysis: Gano was the Redskins' full-time placekicker in 2010 and 2011, but he wasn't very reliable in the role. So far this year, though, he's 4 for 4. With quarterback Cam Newton's production improving in recent weeks, the Panthers offense could provide Gano with a decent number of opportunities to close out the season. Still, he's clearly not one of the top 12 kickers in Fantasy right now. Leave him for deeper leagues.
News: Panthers kicker Graham Gano was held to three extra points Week 13 at Kansas City. He didn't attempt a field goal.
Analysis: Gano has managed nine points in two games since becoming the Panthers' kicker. He has attempted just one field goal in that span. He clearly has marginal Fantasy appeal heading into Week 14 vs. Atlanta.
News: After being signed earlier in the week, Graham Gano made his debut with the Panthers in Week 12 against the Eagles. He made his lone field-goal attempt and converted 3 of 4 extra points in the 30-22 win. He connected on a 23-yarder in the fourth quarter but missed a PAT later in the game.
Analysis: Gano replaces Justin Medlock in Carolina and while missing a PAT was a little embarrassing Monday night, it looks as though he should keep the job down the stretch. Heading into Week 13 against the Chiefs, continue to view the 25-year-old as a low-end Fantasy kicker.
News: The Panthers signed kicker Graham Gano and waived Justin Medlock on Tuesday. Gano lost out on the kicking job for the Redskins during training camp.
Analysis: Gano made 59 of 80 field goals in 36 games with the Redskins including going 25 for 36 fro 40-plus yards. While he now has a kicking job, owners should consider the 25-year-old as a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 12 against the Eagles.
News: One day after he appeared to win the Redskins kicking job, Graham Gano is out of work. His replacement is Billy Cundiff, who spent two days unemployed after getting cut by the Ravens. According to The Associated Press, Gano was released and Cundiff signed by the Redskins on Tuesday, but the team has yet to make an official announcement. Gano edged Neil Rackers for the position after Rackers was released Monday.
Analysis: Gano missed 11 attempts in 2010, tied for most in the NFL. He had a league-high 10 misses last season, although five of those were blocked. The 25-year-old beat out Rackers without attempting a field goal in the Redskins' preseason games, coming out ahead based on his performance during practice. His already minimal Fantasy value has turned into non-existent, and he should be ignored in all formats at this point.
News:Graham Gano will open the regular season as the Redskins' starting kicker after beating out veteran Neil Rackers for the position. Gano won a competition that was mainly decided on the practice field. The Redskins attempted only two field goals in their first three preseason games, both by Rackers. He made a 28-yarder and missed from 54. However, the 36-year-old was released Monday, giving the job to Gano.
Analysis: Gano missed an NFL-high 10 field goal attempts last season, but five were blocked. He's made 74 percent of his attempts since joining the Redskins during the 2009 season, the second-worst percentage in the NFL over that span. He was also dealing with a sore back during the offseason, but Washington seemed to favor him over one of the most productive kickers in the league last year. He is not worth a pick in Fantasy drafts.
News: Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said Thursday that kicker Graham Gano has been sore as he recovers from a back injury suffered in Week 17 last season. The Redskins signed Neil Rackers to give Gano some competition this summer. "I have not talked to [Gano], but I think he's close," Shanahan said. "I know he's still a little bit sore. He kicked for us one day, and it didn't look like there was any setback for him."
Analysis: We'd be stunned if Gano began the year as Washington's kicker. Gano made 75.6 percent of his field goals in 2011 (31 of 41) and shouldn't be considered a desirable Fantasy option now that he's got some stiff competition -- and a bad back to boot.
News: Per The Sports Xchange, kicker Neil Rackers said he has agreed to a one-year contract with the Redskins. Rackers told KRIV-TV that he's headed to Washington to compete with incumbent Graham Gano. Rackers set a Houston Texans record with 135 points last season and has made 88.5 percent of his field goals (100 of 113) including 8 of 11 from 50-plus yards.
Analysis: With Rackers signing in Washington, we'd be stunned if Gano began the year as Washington's kicker. Gano made 75.6 percent of his field goals in 2011 (31 of 41) and shouldn't be considered a desirable Fantasy option now that he's got some stiff competition.
News: The Redskins announced Friday that they tendered a one-year free-agent contract to kicker Graham Gano. He is an exclusive rights free agent. Last year he made 75.6 percent of his field goal attempts (31 of 41) including 4 of 6 from 50-plus yards.
Analysis: Gano should stick with the Redskins, and Fantasy owners might expect him to get over 30 field goal attempts in 2012, especially if Washington's offense improves. We could look at Gano as a low-end kicker to start the season if the Redskins make some positive changes.
News: Washington K Graham Gano had a monster game on Saturday in a Week 16 loss at home to the Vikings. Gano nailed all four field goals he attempted, including a long of 53 yards, and added two extra points to finish the loss with 14 points scored. Gano recorded a season-high for scoring on Saturday against the Vikings.
Analysis: Gano has been playing extremely well towards the end of the season as he has not missed a field goal in four straight games and has three double-digit scoring efforts over that span. The Redskins offense has been better, but not so good that they are scoring loads of touchdowns. That means plenty of opportunities for Gano and that could be the case heading into Week 17 at Philadelphia. Fantasy owners are likely to have better options available to them at this late juncture of the season, but Gano is a fine start in a pinch Week 17.
News: Washington K Graham Gano had a very good game for the Redskins on Sunday in a win at New York Week 15. Gano made all three field goals he attempted, including a long of 43 yards, in the Washington victory. Gano went 2 for 2 on extra points and finished the Week 15 game with 11 points scored overall.
Analysis: Gano has now had three straight solid Fantasy weeks for the Redskins. Gano has recorded at least nine Fantasy points in three straight games and that should continue heading into Week 16 against Minnesota. The Vikings are allowing the third-most Fantasy points per game to opposing kickers on the season and that bodes well for Gano. Fantasy owners looking for a kicker in a pinch can start Gano against the Vikings Week 16.
News: Washington K Graham Gano just missed reaching double figures in scoring on Sunday of Week 14 in a loss at home to the Patriots. Gano went 2 for 2 on field goals and had a long of 25 yards. He added three PATs for a total of nine points on the afternoon for the Redskins.
Analysis: Gano has been pretty solid in the last two games for the Redskins but has not been solid overall on the season. Gano has missed six field goals in his last seven games and that is just far too many for a viable Fantasy kicker. Heading into Week 15 at the Giants, Gano is not a recommended start outside the the deepest of formats. Gano went 0 for 1 with four PATs and four points scored total the last time the Redskins faced New York Week 1 of the season.
News: Washington K Graham Gano had a monster game in a losing effort on Sunday against the Jets Week 13. Gano nailed four field goals with a long of 46 yards as he didn't miss a single try. Gano added an extra point and finished the game with 13 points for the Redskins.
Analysis: Gano didn't miss any field goals against the Jets on Sunday of Week 13, but that is actually the first time since Week 9 that Gano didn't miss a field goal in a game. Gano has missed five field goals in his last four contests and that is simply too many for Fantasy owners to rely upon him. Heading into Week 14 against the Patriots, New England has not given up much in terms of Fantasy production to opposing kickers this year. Gano is a No. 2 Fantasy option, at best, for Week 14.
News: Redskins K Graham Gano had a field goal and extra point blocked Week 12 at Seattle, adding to his kicking woes. However, coach Mike Shanahan blamed the blocks on the offensive line and said Gano's job is safe for now. This game had nothing to do with Graham Gano, Shanahan said.
Analysis: Shanahan said heading into Week 12 that Gano was kicking for his job, and you thought with two more blunders that he would certainly be replaced. But apparently the Redskins continue to be content with him. Still, Gano has low-end Fantasy appeal heading into Week 13 against the Jets.
News: Washington K Graham Gano had a field goal and extra point blocked in the Week 12 game in Seattle. That said, Gano also nailed a 25-yard field goal with just over a minute to play to help ice the win over the Seahawks, 23-17. Gano finished the game 1 for 2 on field goals. He went 2 for 3 on PATs and finished the contest with five points scored for Washington.
Analysis: Gano hasn't scored in double figures since Week 3 of the season. The Redskins' offense has not been even decent since about that time and Gano has routinely missed field goals all year. In fact, Gano has five missed field goals in the last three games combined. That tells you he's just not that good of a kicker. Plus, the Redskins' offense is dismal. Playing the Jets Week 13, Fantasy owners do not need to be starting Gano in many leagues or formats.
News: After missing two field goals in Week 11, including the winner in overtime, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday that K Graham Gano is fighting to keep his job Week 12 at Seattle.
Analysis: Gano has missed four field goals in his last two games and is hitting on just 66.7 percent of his FGs this season. Most kickers probably would have been replaced by now, and it seems Shanahan's patience is finally running thin. Gano remains a low-end Fantasy kicker since the Redskins struggle for offensive consistency.
News: Washington K Graham Gano went 1 for 3 on field goals on Sunday of Week 11 during a home loss to the Cowboys. Gano nailed a 40-yard field goal in the game, but missed a 45-yard FG later on when the Redskins could have used it. Then, in overtime, Gano missed a 52-yarder that would have won the game. Instead, Dallas came down and won it on the next possession. Gano finished the game with six points as he went 3 for 3 on PATs.
Analysis: Gano didn't do his job in the Week 11 game against the Cowboys. He made up for missing two field goals against Miami Week 10 with his first on Sunday, but he missed his next two and has already missed eight field goals on the season for the Redskins. He has a big leg, but not a whole lot of accuracy. With the Washington offense continuing to struggle, Gano is never really a recommended Fantasy kicker. Heading into Week 12 at Seattle, that is going to continue.
News: Washington K Graham Gano missed two field goals during the Week 10 loss at Miami on Sunday. Gano went 3 for 5 on field goals as he connected from 26, 47 and 23 yards out. Gano also missed field goals of 50 and 49 yards, respectively. Gano finished with nine points as he did not attempt a PAT in the game.
Analysis: Gano had a decent scoring game against the Dolphins Week 10, though he did miss two field goals for the first time all year. Gano, who already has five missed field goals on the year, meets the Cowboys in Week 11. Gano's best scoring game of the season came Week 3 in Dallas, when he went 3 for 4 and recorded 12 points. The Redskins move the ball better with Rex Grossman at quarterback, but they continue to have trouble slamming the ball into the end zone. That bodes well for Gano, who should be a worthy Fantasy start for the Week 11 game.
News: Washington K Graham Gano was limited to just three points on Sunday of Week 9 against the 49ers. With San Francisco winning 19-11, Gano managed just one field goal in the game. That said, that field goal set a new franchise record for the Redskins as he connected from 59 yards out just before halftime.
Analysis: The Redskins offense continues to be pretty putrid and that has really limited the Fantasy prowess of Gano. Gano failed to score a point in the Week 8 game at Buffalo, and, outside of the record-setting 59-yard field goal before halftime, wasn't much better against the 49ers on Sunday of Week 9. Heading into Week 10 at Miami, Gano could certainly perform better in the state in which he played his college football. Miami is allowing plenty of Fantasy points per game to opposing kickers as the defense has not been great. That said, Gano has not been consistent and is not a recommended Fantasy start for Week 10.
News: Redskins kicker Graham Gano had his only field goal attempt blocked on Sunday of Week 8 against Buffalo from Toronto. Gano was 0 for 1 on field goals as his only attempt was blocked by the Bills early in the game. The Redskins were kept off the board and Gano did not manage to score a single point in the game.
Analysis: The Redskins offense has been ugly and most of the team's weapons are dealing with injuries. Heading into Week 9 against San Francisco, a team with a solid defense, an improvement is not really expected. Gano has not been too sharp this season for Washington and remains a kicker to avoid heading into Week 9 of the Fantasy season.
News: Washington kicker Graham Gano had a decent performance in the Week 7 loss at Carolina. Gano finished with eight points as he went 2 for 2 on field goals in the game. Gano nailed a 31-yard field goal and a 49-yarder in the game and he finished 2 for 2 on extra points as well.
Analysis: The Redskins' offense continues to be stagnant near the goal line and that actually bodes well for Gano. Gano has been at nine or more points in three of six games this season and that should continue heading into Week 8 at Buffalo. The Bills' defense hasn't been sharp and we expect the Redskins to score aplenty against them in Buffalo. For that, Fantasy owners can consider Gano as a viable start in most formats. He might not be the best option available, but Gano is a fine choice for the Week 8 game.
News: Washington K Graham Gano was decent on Sunday of Week 6 in a loss to the Eagles. Gano recorded two field goals and nailed one 50 yards out in the second quarter just before halftime. Gano added one extra point and finished with seven points in the game for the Redskins.
Analysis: Gano was the offensive star for the Redskins in Week 6 and that certainly isn't saying much for the offense. Washington's offense has stalled many times already this season and Week 6 was no different. Heading into Week 7 at Carolina, we feel that Gano could be in line for a couple more field goal attempts. Fantasy owners can feel comfortable considering Gano a decent Fantasy start in most leagues for the Week 7 game in Carolina.
News: Washington K Graham Gano did little in the Week 4 win at St. Louis. Gano went 1 for 1 on field goals as he connected from 38 yards out in the third quarter. He added two extra points and finished with five total points in the Week 4 win.
Analysis: Gano has already missed three field goals in four games for Washington, though one of those was a bad hold. Gano has been solid but nothing special this season. Gano should be ignored in Fantasy play heading into Week 5 as Washington has a bye. The Redskins return Week 6 against the Eagles and Gano could be a viable Fantasy start for that game.
News: Washington K Graham Gano and Dallas K Dan Bailey got into a kicking match in the Week 3 Monday night game in Dallas. Bailey won the matchup with six field goals and the Cowboys won 18-16. Gano hit a 46-yard FG in the first quarter and followed that with a 27-yarder in the frame. He had a 50-yard FG in the second quarter and added an extra point on the Redskins' only touchdown. Gano did have a field goal blocked in the game, but that was on a bad hold by punter Sav Rocca. Gano finished with 10 points on the contest.
Analysis: Gano has been solid, but not spectacular for the Redskins thus far. He's been in double figures, but he's also been a bit shaky, already missing three field goals on the year after three games. Facing the Rams in Week 4 in St. Louis, the Redskins should put up plenty points against a weak defense. The Rams are giving up an average of eight Fantasy points per game to opposing kickers, so consider Gano a decent start in any league for Week 4.
News: Washington K Graham Gano was in double figures in scoring in the Week 2 win over Arizona. With Washington winning 22-21, Gano went 3 for 4 from field goal range and his long of 34 yards gave the Redskins the lead for good with 1:45 to play. Gano was 1 for 1 on PATs and finished with 10 points overall.
Analysis: While the Redskins haven't exactly been poor at scoring points after two weeks of the season, Gano has already missed two field goals -- though one was blocked on Sunday. Gano can be serviceable at times in Fantasy play, but there are far better options available out there heading into Week 3 at Dallas.
News: Redskins K Graham Gano missed on a 39-yard field goal in Week 1 against the Giants after making all 10 of his attempts in the preseason. But head coach Mike Shanahan said Monday he remains committed to Gano, who provided three touchbacks in the win against New York. We looked at the film and we didnt see anything obviously wrong, so he just said keep doing what Im doing, Gano said of a meeting with Shanahan. Im hoping I get a ton of extra points, and if I get a field goal opportunity, its good, too get an opportunity to go back out there and make them.
Analysis: Gano missed 11 field goals in 2010, which is why the team brought in Shayne Graham to compete with him in the preseason. But Gano won the job and the Redskins are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt after one missed kick. But he can't keep this up, so Gano remains a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 2 against the Cardinals.
News: Redskins kicker Graham Gano missed his only field goal attempt in Week 1 against the Giants. He finished with four points, all coming off extra-point attempts.
Analysis: Gano does not have the best job security in the league among kickers, so this start isn't what he needed. The Redskins offense looked surprisingly productive in Week 1, which could lead to more opportunities for Gano than expected. However, he remains a very low-end option unless he can begin to produce consistently.
News: Redskins PK Graham Gano left practice early Wednesday because his wife went into delivery. The Redskins may need to sign a kicker for Friday's game vs. Indianapolis. They cut PK Shayne Graham on Saturday.
Analysis: Gano should be fine for the start of the regular season, but keep an eye on what develops. Even though he will remain the starter for the Redskins he has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News:The Washington Post reports that a source confirmed a report detailing the Redskins releasing PK Shayne Graham on Sunday. He had a rough debut in the preseason on Friday, missing a pair of field goals -- badly hooking a 29-yarder and then pushing a 49-yarder wide right against the Steelers. Graham Gano, who was 3 for 3 on attempts in the same game, will likely open the season as the starter.
Analysis: Gano only had to come through with one impressive showing to win the kicker battle unless the team brings in another leg to compete for the rest of the preseason,. Fantasy owners should stay tuned, keeping in mind that the Florida State product struggled considerably last season. Even if the job is officially his in Week 1, Gano is not worth selecting in most Fantasy leagues.
News: It's hard to imagine Shayne Graham lasting much longer in the kicking competition in Washington after missing two field goals in the first half Friday vs. the Steelers. His leg strength hasn't been an issue; rather, he badly hooked a 29-yarder and then pushed a 49-yarder wide right. Gano, meanwhile, was a perfect 3 for 3 on field goals from 32, 34 and 45 yards out.
Analysis: For now, give the nod to Gano, but the reality is that neither kicker is worth drafting in Fantasy.
News: The Redskins will bring PK Shayne Graham into camp later this week to compete with Graham Gano , who made just 24 of 35 field goals last season. Graham has made 86 percent of his kicks in his career.
Analysis: Gano might have trouble keeping the gig given Graham's success (he didn't miss a field goal with the Pats last year). We'll keep you posted, but neither kicker is worth drafting in Fantasy.
News: The Washington Post reports Redskins kicker Graham Gano knew he needed to change things this offseason. His first full NFL season concluded with him making only 68.6 percent of his field goal attempts third-worst in the league. He made three game-winning overtime field goals for Washington, but Gano also missed 11 field goals for the Redskins, who suffered five losses by three points or fewer. So after a short rest period, Gano set out to change his approach. Gano always had taken a three-step approach on field goals, but last season he noticed that his first jab step was off for some reason. So Gano decided that he would use only two steps on his approach in the future. One fewer footstep meant less momentum and the need for increased speed, so Gano this past winter and spring hired a personal trainer. Part of the training regimen that Ganos trainer put him through required the kicker to begin doing squats, an exercise he hadnt attempted since his freshman year of college. Since the end of the season, the 6-foot-1, 207-pound Gano has bulked up by 15 pounds.
Analysis: Gano heads into 2011 as a No. 2 Fantasy kicker in the majority of leagues. He could be a bye-week replacement if he starts out the season playing well, but he should be ignored in most standard formats on Draft Day.
News: Redskins K Graham Gano missed his lone field goal attempt in Week 17 against the Giants. Gano missed on a 30-yard attempt in the first quarter wide left. He did make both of his PATs and finished with two points in the 17-14 defeat.
Analysis: Gano has had a very rocky year as he finished 24 of 35 with a long of 48 yards. He has a couple of game winning kicks on the season, but the former Seminole struggled with his accuracy on more than one occasion and has yet to hit anything over 50 yards. Missing 11 field goals in a season likely won't create much job security, so Fantasy owners should monitor what happens to him in the offseason. He will have very limited Fantasy value heading into 2011.
News: Washington K Graham Gano started and ended the scoring in the Week 16 overtime win over the Jaguars in Jacksonville. Kicking just a few hours away from where he did in college at Florida State, Gano went 2 for 2 on field goals with a long of 48 yards in the game. He hit a 31-yard FG in overtime for the game winner. Gano added two extra points and finished the game with eight points scored.
Analysis: The Week 16 overtime win was Gano's best performance points wise since Week 11. The Redskins' kicker has been unreliable this season and Washington has not put up enough points for him to really be viable in Fantasy play. The Redskins meet the Giants in Week 17 and Gano is someone to be avoided.
News: Washington K Graham Gano did not get an opportunity to make up for missing two field goals last week in the Week 15 loss at Dallas. The Redskins did not call on him for even a single field goal attempt in the loss. He made both extra points he attempted and finished with two points on the afternoon.
Analysis: Gano has totaled seven points in his last three games combined. That should tell you all you need to know entering Week 16 at Jacksonville. He's gone 1 for 4 in his last three games on field goals and is simply not worth using in Fantasy play.
News: Washington K Graham Gano will start the Week 15 game in Dallas, despite the ribs injury he suffered the week prior. Coach Mike Shanahan said this week that he still has a lot of confidence in Gano, who missed two field goals Week 14.
Analysis: Gano has been far from impressive this season but has a big leg and has the confidence of his coach, for now. Still, we don't expect a whole lot from the Redskins in Dallas and Gano is, at best, a No. 2 Fantasy kicker for the game.
News: Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said on Monday that he still has "a lot of confidence" in K Graham Gano, who missed from 34 and 24 yards in Week 14 and leads the NFL in missed field goals with 10. Washington will audition kickers on Tuesday, but the coach said that was because Gano suffered a rib injury in the scramble for the ball during the flubbed extra point. "If he's full speed, he'll be our kicker this week," Shanahan said.
Analysis: Gano has been far from impressive this season but has a big leg and has the confidence of his coach, for now. Keep an eye out for his status heading into Week 15 against the Cowboys but Fantasy owners would be wise to look for more reliable options.
News: Washington K Graham Gano may have kicked his way off the Redskins roster with his performance in Week 14 against Tampa Bay. The Redskins' running game couldn't be stopped in the first half and Gano played spoiler twice. Gano missed a 34-yard field goal in the first quarter on the opening drive. He then missed a 24-yard field goal the next time the Redskins got into scoring range. Gano finally hit his first field goal from 25 yards out just before halftime. He finished 1 for 3 in the game. Gano went 1 for 1 on PATs but couldn't convert the final PAT of the game after a bad snap and the Redskins lost 17-16. He suffered an injury to his ribs on that botched PAT.
Analysis: Gano went 1 for 3 on Sunday and couldn't hit some very easy field goals. He has missed 10 times this season and that is not going to get you an invitation back next year. In fact, we wouldn't be surprised if he's not the kicker for Week 15 at Dallas at this point. In either case, we don't recommend using him against the Cowboys.
News: Redskins K Graham Gano missed his only field goal attempt in Week 13 against the Giants. Gano hooked a 43-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter. He then hit his only other scoring chance -- an extra point -- in the third quarter. The one point was a season low.
Analysis: For as inconsistent the Redskins offense has been in 2010, Gano has had a fair amount of scoring chances. He came into Week 13 averaging 7.5 points per game. Gano is an unheralded Fantasy option and he is probably worth a look in deeper Fantasy formats heading into Week 14, when the Redskins play the Bucs.
News: Washington kicker Graham Gano had a solid game Week 12 against Minnesota. Unfortunately, it didn't translate to a win for the Redskins. Gano finished with seven points in the game as he went 2 for 2 on field goals and 1 for 1 on extra points. Gano nailed two 40-plus-yard field goals in the fourth quarter to draw the Redskins to within 17-13. They ultimately lost by that score.
Analysis: Gano has gone 6 for 8 on field goals in his last two games as the Redskins have consistently found ways to fail to punch the ball into the end zone. There could be more of the same in Week 13 at New York against the Giants. Consider Gano a solid Fantasy option across the board.
News: Washington K Graham Gano had an interesting game Week 11 in Tennessee. Gano was the goat and the hero for the Redskins, luckily in that order. His 47-yard field goal attempt with three seconds left in regulation fell a few yards short in an ugly attempt to win before overtime. Gano was given another attempt in overtime, this time from 48 yards, and connected for the Redskins' win. He ultimately went 4 for 6 in the game, also missing from 51 yards, and finishing with 13 points. Gano connected from 19, 40, 42 and 48 yards.
Analysis: Gano had the best game of his season on Sunday afternoon in the overtime contest. He also missed two field goals in a game for the second time this season. He's not the most consistent of options for Fantasy owners or the Redskins. Still, Washington has been giving him the opportunities and that should continue Week 12 against the Vikings. Gano, unless you have better options, can be worth starting in any Fantasy league for Week 12.
News: Redskins K Graham Gano was not needed much in Week 10 against the Eagles. He did not attempt a field goal but made all for of his PATs in the 59-28 loss.
Analysis: Gano did not attempt a field goal for the first time this season in Week 10 but was still able to salvage four points in the blowout. He has made 15 of 20 field-goal attempts so far this season and remains a viable Fantasy K heading into Week 11 against the Titans.
News: In the Redskins loss at Detroit in Week 8, PK Graham Gano made two field goals from 38 and 46 yards and also had an extra point. This was Gano's first game with multiple field goals since Week 5.
Analysis: The Redskins' offense didn't get moving until into the second quarter and struggled mightily in the second half. Gano won't need to kick again until Week 10, so owners shouldn't consider him until then. Kick him on to the waiver wire, then give him some thought before Washington hosts Philadelphia.
News: Washington K Graham Gano did not have the best game Week 7 in a win over the Bears in Chicago. Gano did hit a 46-yard field goal in the game but also missed from 37 yards out. The ball bounced off the top of the left upright and out. Gano went 1 for 2 on field goals and finished 2 for 2 on PATs for a total of five points.
Analysis: Gano has missed one field goal in three straight games and has gone just 13 for 18 on the season for the Redskins. While he is their best option, he hasn't been easy to trust in Fantasy play. He gets enough chances, but he doesn't always make them. We consider Gano a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy option for Week 8 at Detroit.
News: Redskins kicker Graham Gano made one of two field goal attempts in the Week 6 loss to the Colts. He connected from 39 yards out and pushed a 48-yarder to the right. He added three extra points in the loss.
Analysis: Gano has been fairly consistent for the Redskins this season. In Week 5, he kicked the game-winner in OT to beat the Packers and he is now 12 for 15 on the season. Gano should remain active in Fantasy lineups Week 7 at Chicago.
News: Redskins kicker Graham Gano hit the game-winning field goal Sunday in Week 5 against the Packers. He was 3 of 4 on field goals with a long of 45, and his game-winning kick in overtime was from 33 yards. His other made field goal was from 26 yards in the second quarter, and he also had one extra point.
Analysis: Gano now has 11 field goals on 14 attempts this season and is looking like a solid Fantasy option in deeper leagues. We consider Gano a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy option in Week 6 against the Colts, who allowed three field goals to the Chiefs in Week 5.
News: Redskins K Graham Gano kicked one field goal against the Eagles in Week 4 and added two extra points in the 17-12 win. He connected from 26 yards in the second quarter and is has made 8 of 10 field goals this season.
Analysis: Gano missed two field goals in Week 2 but has been otherwise perfect other than that. Although he has missed his only chance 50-plus yards, the 23-year-old has a strong leg and gotten some chances early on. With Washington taking on Green Bay in Week 5, Gano should be viewed as a No. 2 kicker, and is worth keeping tabs on as he does have the leg to be a successful NFL kicker.
News: Washington K Graham Gano connected on three field goals in Sunday's loss to St. Louis as the Redskins were only 1 for 10 on third down conversions in the game and saw their drives sputter out. Gano's field goals were from 29, 24 and 21 yards. Gano also was the Redskins' stand-in punter after Josh Bidwell felt something pop in his hip during pregame warmups, and got his first attempt blocked.
Analysis: Gano now has five field goals made from 20-29 yards and two conversions from 40-49 yards. While he's done well for the Redskins this year, there are better options for Fantasy kickers out there. With Washington taking on Philadelphia in Week 4, Gano should be viewed as a No. 2 kicker, and is worth keeping tabs on as he does have the leg to be a successful NFL kicker.
News: Redskins K Graham Gano missed a pair of field goals in Week 2 against the Texans. Gano had a 29-yard attempt blocked in the fourth quarter and then missed 52-yard attempt in overtime that would have led to a Redskins' victory. Gano actually made the first attempt, but coach Gary Kubiak called timeout just before the snap. Gano's second try was wide right. "I felt real good about the first one. I hit it real well. I maybe got a little more relaxed on the second one," Gano said. "I thought I was going to make it. Maybe next time I just won't relax as much." He did make two field goals earlier in the game with a long of 41 yards. Graham finished 2 for 4 in field goal attempts and went 3 for 3 on PATs.
Analysis: Tough break for Gano on Sunday, as he thought he had one the game for Washington. He is now 4 for 6 on the season with a long of 49 yards. He definitely has the leg to be an NFL kicker, but now we have to see if he has the moxie to survive in this league. Consider him more of a No. 2 K in Fantasy at this point. He will get a chance to kick indoors next week as the Redskins travel to St. Louis in Week 3.
News: Redskins K Graham Gano, who made all four of his field-goal attempts last year, was perfect Week 1 against the Cowboys, hitting a 49-yarder and a 29-yarder. He also had an extra point.
Analysis: Gano beat out Justin Medlock for the starting job this preseason, and considering he's a perfect 6 for 6 in his career, you can understand why. With Donovan McNabb at the helm, the Redskins might have enough offense to make Gano a worthwhile Fantasy option, but until we see a little more evidence, you can continue to treat him as a No. 2 Fantasy option. The Redskins host the Texans in Week 2.
News: The Redskins have waived K Justin Medlock, who was competing with Graham Gano for a job. That means that Gano, a second-year player out of Florida State, is now the only kicker on the roster.
Analysis: We'd like to think that Gano will keep the job, but you have to assume that the Redskins will pounce on a better option once a legitimate NFL kicker is released into free agency. That makes Gano not worth drafting in standard Fantasy play this summer -- especially since there are so many quality kickers available for Fantasy owners to pick instead.
News: The Washington Post reports Graham Gano is trying to win the job as the Redskins kicker this year in a battle with Justin Medlock. Gano finished 2009 as Washington's kicker after he replaced the struggling Shaun Suisham. In four games, Gano was 4 of 4 on field goal attempts; his only miss came on one of his seven extra point attempts. "I've been working real hard trying to get my legs strong and I can definitely tell from kicking out here that I got stronger," Gano said."I'm more fluid and consistent with my approach to the ball. ... You can always work on something, but I feel very good right now."
Analysis: We expect Gano to win the job, but keep an eye on who ends up kicking for Washington this year. The winner, however, should only be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Washington K Graham Gano finished the season fairly strong on Sunday of Week 17 at San Diego. Gano nailed both field goals he attempted, including a long of 25 yards and went 2 of 2 on PATs for eight points. The Redskins lost the game.
Analysis: Gano became the Redskins starting field goal kicker in Week 14 against Oakland didnt miss on three attempts on the season. There is no telling whether or not hell remain the starter in 2010 and for now, he has zero Fantasy value.
News: In the Redskins' Week 16 loss vs. the Cowboys, kicker Graham Gano didn't attempt a single field goal or extra point. He contributed precisely zero points to the Redskins' score (which was zero).
Analysis: Gano should get a couple of points at San Diego in Week 17. Start him only if you're completely desperate for a kicker.
News: Washington K Graham Gano had a joke of a performance on Monday night at home against the Giants. Making his second start as the kicker for the Redskins, Gano did not even attempt a single field goal in the game as the Redksins lost 45-12. Washington did score two touchdowns but Gano missed the extra point on one of them and the 'Skins went for two on the other. Gano finished with zero points in the loss.
Analysis: Gano has now put up one 10-point performance and one real stinker with a missed field goal in two games for the Redskins. Hes clearly not worth using in Fantasy play as part of this struggling offense. Leave him on waivers or benches for Week 16 against Dallas on Sunday night.
News: Washington K Graham Gano (right foot) will kick for the Redskins on Monday night against the Giants.
Analysis: Gano looked good last week, but he'll get inconsistent opportunities with a poor Redskins offense backing him. Think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy kicker.
News: After Thursday's practice, Redskins coach Jim Zorn said he limited K Graham Gano's workload. Gano suffered a minor knee injury in the Raiders game. Zorn expects Gano to be fine for Monday's Giants game.
Analysis: Gano should be fine to play Monday night. He looked good last week, but he'll get inconsistent opportunities with a poor Redskins offense backing him. Think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy kicker.
News: Redskins K Graham Gano, who kicked two field goals of 40-plus yards in his first game with the team last week, had a sore foot in practice Thursday as the team prepared for Week 15 against the Giants.
Analysis: Gano should be fine to play Monday night. He looked good last week, but he'll get inconsistent opportunities with a poor Redskins offense backing him. Think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy kicker.
News: Redskins rookie K Graham Gano, signed earlier this week after the team cut Shaun Suisham, made a good first impression Week 14 at Oakland. He hit a 41-yard field goal, a 46-yard field goal and four extra points.
Analysis: Gano looked good in his opportunities this week, but he normally won't get so many with an inconsistent Redskins offense backing him. He deserves a roster spot in deeper leagues, but he's just a No. 2 Fantasy option in standard 10- or 12-team leagues when the Redskins host the Giants in Week 15.
News: The Redskins announced that they have signed K Graham Gano and released K Shaun Suisham. Gano is rookie from Florida State and was in the Ravens camp this summer. Suisham was released after missing critical field goals in losses to Dallas and New Orleans in recent weeks.
Analysis: Neither kicker is worth owning in Fantasy play -- there are far more interesting options available than Gano, who didn't make the cut with the Ravens from training camp this summer, or Suisham, who is unemployed. Look elsewhere for kicking help in standard formats.
News: The Ravens have released PK Steven Hauschka after missing three field goals and getting an extra point blocked over his last four games. No replacement has been named but Graham Gano seems like an option after he lost the kicking job to Hauschka in training camp.
Analysis: Hauschka was a decent Fantasy kicker during the bye weeks and when the Ravens offense was exploding but with the offense regressing, his replacement won't be worth adding in Fantasy play, either.
News: The Ravens waived K Graham Gano, meaning that Steven Hauschka has won the starting kicking job for the team entering the regular season.
Analysis: Hauschka will serve as a decent one-week replacement off waivers this season. Even though he's won this job, Fantasy owners shouldn't consider him as a No. 1 option. Only think about him if your league requires multiple starting kickers.
News: Baltimore's Steve Hauschka, who had moved ahead of rookie Graham Gano for Baltimore's PK job, missed a 27-yard FG attempt before making a 38-yarder. Coach John Harbaugh said he won't decide on the job until after the final preseason game.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with the Ravens kicking job, but the winner should be considered a No. 2 option at best.
News: Steve Hauschka and Graham Gano are roommates. By the middle of September, one of them will be the Ravens starting placekicker. The other will be looking for a job. Hauschka and Gano are competing to replace 41-year-old Matt Stover, the only starting kicker the Ravens have ever had. Stover came to Baltimore in 1996 with the Cleveland Browns and handled every important field goal attempt for the Ravens over the past 13 years. But after Stover began losing distance on his kickoffs and long field goal tries, Baltimore signed Hauschka last year to take care of that aspect of the job. Then, during the offseason, Baltimore decided not to renew Stover's contract. Hauschka and Gano have done well in training camp, but the final decision will probably be based upon their performance in preseason games. In last week's opener against the Washington Redskins, Hauschka got a leg up in the competition. The former North Carolina State standout kicked field goals of 21 and 37 yards and got excellent distance on three kickoffs. Gano was solid on kickoffs and connected on a 39-yard field goal, but his other field goal try hit the upright from 28 yards out on the game's final play.
Analysis: Hauschka and Gano are entrenched in a pretty tight battle for the kicker's job in Baltimore and Hauschka seems to have taken the upper hand after the first preseason game. Whoever comes away with the job to start the season should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Baltimore K Steven Hauschka, who is competing against Graham Gano to replace Matt Stover, the last link from the Cleveland Browns' move to Baltimore in 1996, made both of his field goal attempts on Thursday in a preseason game against the Redskins. His field goals were from 37 and 21 yards away. Gano went 1 for 2 on field goal attempts in the game, making a 39-yarder and missing one from 28 yards out with only two seconds left on the clock.
Analysis: Hauschka and Gano are entrenched in a pretty tight battle for the kicker's job in Baltimore and Hauschka seems to have taken the upper hand after the first preseason game. Whoever comes away with the job to start the season should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: The Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens kicker battle between Graham Gano and Steven Hauschka won't be decided until the preseason games start. Both kickers are trying to replace the departed Matt Stover. Special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg said the young kickers know how they'll be evaluated. "When the games start, we'll find out," Rosburg said. "You can look at it in practice and your technique can be good and all of those things are going to be really positive. In the end, where we're all judged is on Sundays." At this point, Rosburg said the competition is too close to call. Both kickers have converted over 80 percent of their attempts this offseason. The winner might not be determined until after the final preseason game Sept. 3.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with the Ravens kicking job, but the winner should be considered a No. 2 option at best.
News: The Carroll County Times reports Steve Hauschka has the inside edge to be the starting kicker for the Ravens this season. The report says Hauschka and Graham Gano will battle for the job, "with Hauschka holding a slight edge heading into camp." The winner will replace Matt Stover as the kicking option.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with the Ravens kicking job, but the winner should be considered a No. 2 option at best.
