by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

Maiava, 27, and his brother Ilima Maiava, 30, are charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and fourth-degree criminal property damage, a petty misdemeanor, Maui Prosecuting Attorney John Kim said.

They're accused of beating up two men, ages 27 and 28, at Life's a Beach in Kihei on March 17. That's four days after the Raiders signed Kaluka to a three-year, $6 million contract. He played four seasons with the Browns after being a fourth-round pick out of Southern California.

Maiava, of Wailuku, and his brother, who lives on Oahu, were not arrested. Each was served with a summons on July 2 when prosecutors learned they would be on the island. The brothers are scheduled to be arraigned in Wailuku District Court on July 25, when they're expected to enter pleas.

If convicted of the misdemeanor charge, they could face up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine. The petty misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
