News: Jacksonville signed QB Dan LeFevour off Indianapolis practice squad on Friday. LeFevour will take the roster spot of DB Derek Cox, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.
Analysis: LeFevour will serve as the backup to Blaine Gabbert and Luke McCown on the Jaguars' depth chart for quarterbacks. He has not played in an NFL game during his brief career and should remain untouched in all Fantasy formats.
News: Quarterback Dan LeFevour was claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Analysis: LeFevour was a sensation in college with Central Michigan but he didn't impress the Bears, who cut him after taking him in the sixth round of the 2010 draft. He has no Fantasy value until he sets foot on the football field.
News: With the Bears signing veteran QB Todd Collins on Monday, it looks like rookie QB Dan LeFevour could be dropping down the depth chart at least one spot in Chicago.
Analysis: LaFevour was a great college quarterback, but has clearly failed to impress this preseason and could well find himself without a job in the near future. Continue to ignore the former Chippewa in all Fantasy formats.
News: The Bears gave third-string QB rookie Dan LeFevour his first real chance to work extensively in a scrimmage on Monday due to a scheduled rest for Jay Cutler. LeFevour never even had a chance to run any plays during June OTAs. "I definitely was a little nervous on my first day of getting extended reps," LeFevour said. "My reps will probably be minimal." That said, LeFevour wasn't exactly stirring memories of Dan Marino with his spirals. Some of PK Robbie Gould's kickoffs had tighter spirals.
Analysis: The 6-foot-3, 230-pound LeFevour finished his Central Michigan career with 15,853 yards of total offense, second in NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision history (Hawaii's Timmy Chang had 16,910). LeFevour is the only player in NCAA history with at least 12,000 passing yards (12,905) and 2,500 rushing yards (2,948). LeFevour also ended his college career fifth in the FBS in career completions and 10th in yards passing. That said, he might not even make the Bears. He has no Fantasy value at this time and should be ignored completely on Draft Day.
News: The Bears picked one of the most prolific quarterbacks in NCAA history to backup Jay Cutler. With the 181st overall pick, the Bears chose Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour in the sixth round. If he sticks with the Bears, he will be playing not far from his childhood home in Downers Grove, Ill. "It means everything to me," said LeFevour. "It's a dream come true, literally. I've been watching the Bears for quite a few years now. If you go in my room, it's decorated with all Chicago Bears stuff."
Analysis: LeFevour's arm isn't considered strong in spite of the stats he put up at Central Michigan. But he has pretty good accuracy and his mobility is very solid. He'll battle Caleb Hanie for the backup job in training camp this summer, but until he finds regular playing time you'll never need him in Fantasy.
