Smith questions role on Lions

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(1/10/2013) Lions running back Kevin Smith told MLive.com he's still not sure why he wasn't asked to contribute more in 2012. Smith started the team's first two games and faded into obscurity thereafter. "I didn't really see why (he did not play more). There was never an answer given as to why," Smith said. "I think I dealt with it like a professional, and in my mind, I would have been able to deal with it easier if there was something told to me like, 'Hey Kevin, you need to work on this.' ... In my eyes, I'll never look at it this way, but I guess I wasn't good enough on a 4-12 team, which is basically the gist of it. I guess the guys that were in front of me made enough plays to keep me on the bench."
