Bears DL Willie Young ready for starting role

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/4/2014) Bears defensive end Willie Young is poised to see a bigger role on defense with defensive lineman Lamarr Houston (knee) going on injured reserve.

"Obviously it’s always tough whenever a guy goes down. But at the same time nothing changes for me whatsoever," Young said, per ESPN.

Young has played in 323 snaps this season despite not being a starter. He leads the team with seven sacks.

"What I bring to the table personally is what I bring to the table," Young said. "I’ll continue to bring that to the table to the best of my ability. But besides that, like I said it’s really tough when you lose a guy -- starter, great player across the board. We’ve just got to continue to try to get better day by day. I’ll just keep bringing the pain, baby. That’s all. Ain’t nothing more to it. I’m going to just keep doing what I do."

Willie Young notches two sacks in Week 6 win vs. Falcons

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/12/2014) Bears defensive send Willie Young racked up three tackles and two sacks in his team's 27-13 win over the Falcons in Week 6.

Young was largely quiet in the win until late in the fourth quarter, when he sacked Matt Ryan on third down around midfield. On the next drive, he came through with a second sack on first down right before the two-minute warning, and the Falcons were unable to recover, throwing an incomplete pass on fourth-and-1 on their final offensive play. Young already has seven sacks in six games, proving to be a very adept free-agent pickup for the Bears defense.

Willie Young racks up two more sacks

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/15/2014) Bears defensive end Willie Young is up to three sacks this season after getting two in the Week 2 win at San Francisco. The free agent acquisition added four tackles and two quarterback hurries in the 28-20 victory.

Young visits the Jets on Monday Night Football in Week 3.

Bears DST comes up big

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/15/2014) Overlooked after a poor Week 1 performance, the Bears DST came up big Sunday night at San Francisco. Chicago forced four turnovers by Colin Kaepernick, with rookie corner Kyle Fuller making two fourth-quarter interceptions.

Defensive end Jared Allen forced a fumble, safety Danny McCray recovering. Safety Chris Conte made his second interception of the season before leaving with a shoulder injury. Defensive end Willie Young led a strong pass rush with four sacks.

Riding a lot of momentum, the rejuvenated Bears DST visits the Jets on Monday Night Football in Week 3.

Bears defense notches one turnover vs. Bills

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/7/2014) The Bears defense recorded one sack and one turnover in the team's 23-20 overtime loss to the Bills Sunday.

Safety Chris Conte stepped in front of a Bills receiver on Buffalo's first offensive drive of the second half, and the Bears were able to score a game-tying touchdown on the next possession. Free-agent addition Willie Young recorded the defense's only sack of the game in the first quarter. The Bears could have trouble containing a quality San Francisco offense in Week 2.

New personnel should help Bears DST in Week 1

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/4/2014) The Bears revamped a terrible defensive line this offseason and brought in several defenders that should work wonders against the run. The new-look line will face a rush-centric test in Week 1 when the Bills come to town.

The Bills were a solid matchup for Fantasy DSTs last season, giving up the 12th-most average points in Fantasy. However, it may be difficult finding turnovers and sacks against them in Week 1, as the offense will likely commit to running the ball with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson.

Luckily for the Bears, their rebuilt line now features the best two 4-3 defensive ends against the run last season in Lamarr Houston and Willie Young, per Pro Football Focus. If those guys can play at that same level in Week 1, it should force the Bills into third-and-long situations regularly, allowing Jared Allen to pin his ears back and get after E.J. Manuel, a guy with the second-highest sack percentage among starting quarterbacks when under pressure, per Football Focus.

While the Bears DST aren't a lock for a big Fantasy week, they represent a quietly-nice option in Week 1. Both CBSSports.com Fantasy experts rank them in the top 10 this week, but they're only owned in roughly three out of every four leagues.

Bears continue addressing D-line, add Willie Young

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/13/2014) The Bears have signed defensive end Willie Young to a three-year deal, the team announced Thursday.

Young emerged for the Lions last year starting 15 games and picking up three sacks and five passes defensed along with 47 total tackles. He had far more of an impact than that sounds, racking up 48 quarterback pressures according to ProFootballFocus.com.

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(3/3/2014) The Lions are not expected to use the franchise tag, reports the Detroit Free Press. The team continues to negotiate with the three starters headed for unrestricted free agency: tight end Brandon Pettigrew, defensive end Willie Young and cornerback Rashean Mathis.

Schwartz heaps praise on Young

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/26/2012) Lions defensive lineman Willie Young has been a standout player for Detroit this preseason. He has a sack, interception, forced fumble and fumble recovery in three preseason games, and is beginning to emerge in what is an already deep defensive line rotation. "He makes a lot of plays," head coach Jim Schwartz said, per MLive.com. "The biggest thing is just playing. It's one thing to make plays, but it's another thing to make plays you should make."
