News: Lions defensive lineman Willie Young has been a standout player for Detroit this preseason. He has a sack, interception, forced fumble and fumble recovery in three preseason games, and is beginning to emerge in what is an already deep defensive line rotation. "He makes a lot of plays," head coach Jim Schwartz said, per MLive.com. "The biggest thing is just playing. It's one thing to make plays, but it's another thing to make plays you should make."
Analysis: Young has been taking advantage of the extra reps with Kyle Vanden Bosch injured this preseason. Young is entering his third NFL season and appears on the verge of being a breakout pass rusher. However, he still has low-end Fantasy appeal on Draft Day. It's best to consider Young an add off waivers in IDP formats if he gets off to a promising start this year.
News: Lions DE Willie Young picked up a sack in the Week 5 Monday night win over the Bears. Young recorded a sack for the second consecutive game as he finished with three tackles as well.
Analysis: Young has recorded sacks in back-to-back games for the Lions. He has two on the season to go with eight total tackles. The tackles are lacking and he's just a low-end option in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: The Lions drafted Iowa CB Amari Spievey (third round) and N.C. State DE Willie Young (seventh round). Spievey is a physical corner who has had some off-field issues while in school; Young is a decent 4-3 scheme pass-rush prospect.
Analysis: Both players are expected to hold reserve roles with the Lions this season. Neither should be considered for Fantasy play.
