Dolphins new CB Zack Bowman shooting for starting spot

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4/14/2015) Cornerback Zack Bowman claimed rather lofty ambitions Tuesday in his introductory press conference after signing with the Dolphins. He is seeking to land a starting spot after stating he was told he would receive an opportunity to compete for it, per the Palm Beach Post.

Bowman, who will battle Jamar Taylor for the right to play aside set starter Brent Grimes, has not started more than seven games in a season since 2009, his second year in the NFL.

His 2014 numbers with the Giants were both good and bad. In five starts he led the league by allowing just 36.1 percent of passes tossed his way to be completed. But the 19.3 yards per completion he yielded was an NFL-worst.

Giants CB Zack Bowman eyeing battle with Dez Bryant

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/17/2014) The possible absence of fellow Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie would place Zack Bowman front and center Sunday against Dallas And that could mean an individual battle against Cowboys stud receiver Dez Bryant.

Bryant has 36 catches for 439 yards and four touchdowns through six games, but Bowman is expressing admiration, not fear.

"He has a phenomenal mindset when it comes to the ball," Bowman told NJ.com. "Obviously, it's going to be about just going out there to compete, to try and out-compete him. We have a nice game plan for the Cowboys."

Bowman, who has been used mostly on special teams this season, is embracing a potentially expanded role.

"It won't be tough," he said. "Obviously we have a mentality for the next guy up. It's not my first rodeo. I've played in games before. Like I said, it's about being confident and knowing what I'm doing out there."

Despite seven touchdowns, Bears DST should sit Week 16

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(12/17/2013) The Bears DST scored its seventh touchdown Week 15 when Zack Bowman returned an interception 43 yards at Cleveland. Only the Chiefs DST, with 11 touchdowns, has more.

Still, the Bears DST is averaging only 5.8 Fantasy points over its last four games. Chicago ranks 27th in total defense (380.4) and 28th in points allowed (27.9). Linebacker Lance Briggs (shoulder) is expected back after missing seven straight games, but it's unlikely he'll be dominant in his return.

In Week 16 the Bears travel to Philadelphia to play Chip Kelly's innovative offense. The Eagles have yielded double-digit Fantasy points to a DST once in their last six games. Keep the Bears DST out of your lineups.
