Alex Boone expected to start Week 2

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/10/2014) 49ers guard Alex Boone, who missed most of camp in a contract holdout, played just four snaps in the opener at Dallas. The San Francisco Chronicle expects Boone to start Sunday against the Bears.

Replacement Joe Looney and the rest of the offensive line played well in Boone's absence as San Fran averaged 5.1 yards per carry and allowed one sack.

(8/31/2014) 49ers starting guard Alex Boone will end his holdout and report to the team in the next 24 hours, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. Boone will get a reworked two-year deal, and the team won't be allowed to put the franchise tag on him when it expires, the report said.

Alex Boone 'remains resolute' in holdout

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/30/2014) The 49ers' front office reached out recently to holdout Alex Boone, but the team's starting right guard "remains resolute in his stance," reports the Sacramento Bee. Boone signed his current contract in 2011 and now ranks 43rd in the NFL in average salary for guards, the paper said.

He's been a starter since the start of the 2012 season.

Joe Looney taking advantage of Alex Boone's holdout

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/29/2014) 49ers guard Joe Looney is working with the first team while Alex Boone holds out for a better contract. According to CSNBayArea.com, Looney's performance could affect how the team handles Boone's holdout.

"I’m approaching training camp as a time to compete and get better, and I want to show the coaches I’m getting better every day," Looney said. "Alex Boone is a hell of a player and a hell of a guy, and him being gone is his business. But watching him on film every day, I want to come in and do a hell of a job like he does."

Coach Jim Harbaugh praised Looney's performance so far.

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/15/2014) 49ers guard Alex Boone, who has started 38 straight games, won't show up to training camp unless he gets a new contract, reports NFL Network. Boone has two years left on his deal, and the team is not believed to be interested in reworking it.

Contract standoff looming for Niners, Alex Boone

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/18/2014) 49ers guard Alex Boone did not report to mandatory minicamp this week and isn't expected to show up to training camp in July unless the team gives him a new deal.

ESPN believes the Niners won't give Boone any kind of new deal because he has two years left on his contract and the team typically doesn't like to tear up existing deals for new ones. Doing so with Boone could set a bad precedent. As such, Boone and his agents are seemingly prepared to "dig in," per the report.

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/13/2014) 49ers guard Alex Boone intends to skip the team's mandatory minicamp next week, a source told ProFootballTalk.com. Boone is due just over $2 million this season and is signed through 2015. He's started every game for the Niners over the last two seasons.

Fines everywhere in Week 6 Cardinals-49ers game

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(10/19/2013) Several Cardinals defensive players and two San Francisco players were handed down fines for actions occuring during the Week 6 game in which the 49ers hosted, NBC Sports reports Saturday.

Cardinals DT Alameda Ta'amu, safety Tyrann Mathieu and defensive end Darnell Dockett were each fined for separate incidents during the game.

Ta'amu was fined $10,000 for stepping on San Francisco offensive lineman Alex Boone's face. Of course, Boone was also fined $7,875 for hitting Ta'amu prior to that.

Mathieu was docked $7,875 for tackling 49ers running back Kendall Hunter deep in the end zone after he had already scored. Mathieu was flagged for the cheap hit and Anquan Boldin was flagged for retaliating against him. Boldin was not fined, however.

Dockett was docked $7,875 for a late hit against a San Francisco player and 49ers tackle Anthony Davis was fined $15,750 for an illegal block in the back.

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/11/2013) The 49ers offensive line could be missing a few key contributors for Week 6 against the Cardinals, if Friday's injury report is any indication. Guard Alex Boone (shoulder), tackle Anthony Davis (shoulder) and center Jonathan Goodwin (illness) are all considered questionable for Sunday's game, after being limited in practice throughout the week.

They are joined on the injury report by tackle Joe Staley (knee), who is probable and expected to play through the injury.
