Rams notch eight sacks in Week 9 road win vs. 49ers

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/2/2014) The Rams defense came up big Sunday, sacking 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick eight times in the team's 13-10 road win over San Francisco in Week 9.

While the offense was largely stagnant for 60 minutes, the Rams defense dominated the 49ers' offensive line to keep the team in the game and eventually pull off the win. Defensive end Robert Quinn led the charge with two sacks and a forced fumble, while linebacker James Laurinaitis and defensive linemen Michael Brockers, Aaron Donald, Eugene Sims and William Hayes each picked up a sack as well.

It was a stark departure from the same unit that failed to find much quarterback pressure over the first few weeks of the season. The Rams defense will hope to keep playing at an elite level in Week 10 against the Cardinals.

"Don't know whether he's going to go; it will be very close," he told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Laurinaitis has racked up at least 114 tackles in each of his first five years in the NFL. He recorded a career-high 3 1/2 sacks in 2013.
