Nolan Carroll lands with the Eagles

(3/13/2014) Nolan Carroll, a cornerback formerly with the Dolphins, has reached agreement on a deal with the Eagles according to ESPN. Carroll had 47 tackles, two sacks, 11 passes defensed and three interceptions over 12 starts with the Dolphins last season.

(2/24/2014) The Dolphins met with cornerback Nolan Carroll's agent to express their interest in re-signing him, but the 27-year-old will hit the free agent market and see who makes the best offer, reports CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Carroll had 47 tackles, 12 passes defensed and three interceptions last season.

(12/22/2013) The Dolphins listed eight defensive players on the Week 16 injury report, but all of them were able to play Sunday against the Bills.

Despite being on the report, defensive linemen Olivier Vernon (ankle), Paul Soliai (ankle) and John Denney (illness) are active for Sunday's game, along with defensive backs Jamar Taylor (hamstring), Reshad Jones (groin), Brent Grimes (groin), Chris Clemons (knee, hamstring) and Nolan Carroll (knee).

(12/20/2013) The Dolphins have placed eight players on their Friday injury report, but only running back Daniel Thomas (ankle) has been deemed more serious than probable for the Sunday game against Miami. He is questionable. All the probables play defense.

They are secondary mates Reshad Jones (groin), Chris Clemons (knee/hamstring), Jamar Taylor (hamstring), Nolan Carroll (knee) and Brent Grimes (groin) and defensive linemen Paul Soliai (ankle) and Olivier Vernon (ankle).

(12/15/2013) Dolphins defensive back Reshad Jones (groin) was considered questionable for Week 15 against the Patriots, but was able to play through the injury Sunday. He is one of four Dolphins defensive players active for Sunday's game, despite being on the injury report.

Jones is joined by fellow defensive backs Nolan Carroll (hamstring) and Chris Clemons (knee, hamstring), as well as defensive lineman Paul Soliai (ankle) among the active players for Sunday, though that trio was considered probable.

(11/22/2013) Only defensive players are listed on the Friday injury report released by the Dolphins. But most of them are probable and will almost certainly play against Carolina on Sunday.

The probables are cornerback Nolan Carroll (ankle), safety Chris Clemons (glute), linebackers Dannell Ellerbe (knee), Koa Misi (shoulder) and Jonathan Freeny (shoulder) and tackle Paul Soliai (knee).

Listed as questionable are end Cameron Wake (knee), linebacker Jason Trusnik (rib) and cornerback Don Jones (elbow). Fellow cornerback Dimitri Patterson (groin) is out.


Dolphins DST struggles against the run

(11/12/2013) The Dolphins DST allowed the Buccaneers to run for 140 yards in the Week 10 loss as Tampa Bay controlled the ball nearly 35 minutes. Three Buccaneers' backs found success running right at Miami.

The Dolphins created one turnover, a Jimmy Wilson interception, and got sacks from Dannell Ellerbe and Nolan Carroll. Marcus Thigpen returned a punt 34 yards. But overall it was a disappointing effort.

Miami's DST faces a tougher matchup Week 11 vs. San Diego.


Several Dolphins healthy enough for Monday Night Football

(11/11/2013) Several Dolphins who were listed on the injury report are active for Monday's game at Tampa Bay. They include cornerback Nolan Carroll (concussion), safety Chris Clemons (hamstring), linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (calf), guard Nate Garner (knee), linebacker Jelani Jenkins (foot), tight end Dion Sims (toe) and kicker Caleb Sturgis (groin).

All were listed as probable except for Jenkins, who was questionable.

(11/9/2013) The Dolphins defense is mostly in good shape for Week 10 against the Buccaneers, as only one player is expected to miss Monday's game due to injury. While Dimitri Patterson (groin) is considered doubtful, the team has five players listed as either questionable or probable for the game.

Linebackers Jelani Jenkins (foot) and Koa Misi (knee) were limited in practice throughout the week and are considered questionable, while the remainder of the team's injury report features probable players. They include: defensive backs Nolan Carroll (concussion) and Chris Clemons (hamstring); and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (calf).

(11/6/2013) Dolphins cornerback Dimitri Patterson has been an interception machine this season, but he can't pick off passes when he's not on the field. And he wasn't on the field for practice Wednesday due to an undisclosed injury, the South Florida Sun-Sentenal has reported.

Patterson has intercepted four passes in four games, but missed four others with a groin injury. His absence would force Nolan Carroll into the starting position. Carroll returned to practice after clearing concussion protocol.

(10/6/2013) Dolphins defensive back Nolan Carroll suffered a rib injury in Week 5 against the Ravens Sunday, and was eventually forced to leave the game. Carroll tried to play through the injury, which he suffered after an awkward landing while defending a pass.

The Dolphins are off in Week 6, giving Carroll two weeks to heal before they play again.

(10/6/2013) The Dolphins lengthy list of injured defenders for Week 5 was nearly erased prior to kickoff Sunday, as only one player was sidelined by his injury.

Defensive backs Nolan Carroll (ankle), Chris Clemons (glute) and Don Jones (elbow) were able to take the field, while Dimitri Patterson (groin) was the only one forced to sit out.

Other injured players able to take the field for Miami included: linebackers Jason Trusnick (rib), Koa Misi (shoulder), Jonathan Freeny (shoulder) and Dannell Ellerbe (knee), along with defensive linemen Paul Soliai (knee) and Cameron Wake (knee).

(9/8/2013) The Dolphins got tremendous depth of performance defensively Sunday in Cleveland. Among the key contributors were backup cornerback Nolan Carroll, who picked off a pass from Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden, and safety Reshad Jones, who added six tackles.
