Steelers still plan to draft a receiver early

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(4/2/2014) Despite signing free agent receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, the Steelers "will still take a wide receiver with one of their first three picks" in the draft, reports ESPN.com. Pittsburgh lost Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery in free agency while adding Lance Moore and Heyward-Bey.

The Steelers hope second-year wideout Markus Wheaton takes a big step forward and develops into a starter opposite Antonio Brown.

Report: Colts unlikely to re-sign Darrius Heyward-Bey

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(2/13/2014) Wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey might be on the move again this offseason. The Indianapolis Star believes the odds are heavily stacked against Heyward-Bey receiving a new contract from the Colts after signing with them on a one-year, $2.5 million deal last year.

Heyward-Bey caught 29 passes and one touchdown and was eventually passed over for playing time by undrafted free agents Griff Whalen and Da'Rick Rogers.

Two in, one out for Colts on Saturday

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1/10/2014) The Colts appear set to have starting nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin (rest) and strong safety LaRon Landry (concussion) in their lineup Saturday at New England. Both practiced fully on Friday and have been listed as probable.

A hamstring injury, however, will keep wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey sidelined. He has been ruled out. Heyward-Bey has been a non-factor all season with just 29 catches for 309 yards and one touchdown.

Darrius Heyward-Bey unlikely to play

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(1/7/2014) Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey is unlikely to play this week against the Patriots.

Heyward-Bey is still dealing with a hamstring injury, and head coach Chuck Pagano said it's unlikely he'll play. He hasn't caught a pass during a game since early December.

Hamstring still an issue for Darrius Heyward-Bey

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(1/4/2014) Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey made no impact in Saturday's Wild Card playoff game against the Chiefs, as his balky hamstring forced him from the game before he recorded a single catch.

The Colts won the game, 45-44, so Heyward-Bey has another week to get through practice with the injury. They will play either the Broncos or Patriots next weekend.

Darrius Heyward-Bey able to play through hamstring issue

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(1/4/2014) Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring) is officially active for Saturday's Wild Card game against the Chiefs. Heyward-Bey had been considered probable for the game after getting through the week in practice.

Ten Colts probable for playoff game

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

The only other offensive probable is lineman Mike McGlynn (elbow).

The defensive probables are defensive backs Sergio Brown (groin), Darius Butler (quad), Vontae Davis (groin) and Greg Toler (groin), linemen Ricky Jean Francois (foot) and Cory Redding (shoulder) and linebackers Bjoern Werner (ankle) and Robert Mathis (rest).

Darrius Heyward-Bey not practicing Tuesday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Darrius Heyward-Bey has 23 receiving yards

by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/8/2013) Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey caught two passes for 23 yards in Sunday's 42-28 loss to the Bengals. He was targeted three times.

Both Da'Rick Rogers and LaVon Brazill caught two touchdowns in Week 14, as Andrew Luck clearly favored the two youngsters, especially in the second half, when the Colts were going pass-heavy to play catch-up.

Heyward-Bey also limped off the field on the Colts' final touchdown, and was having his knee examined on the sideline as the game wound down.

The Colts play the Texans in Week 15. Heyward-Bey caught one pass for 11 yards when the teams first met in Week 9.

Colts backup receivers do little against Arizona

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(11/24/2013) Colts backup pass catchers Darrius Heyward-Bey, LaVon Brazill and Justice Cunningham were held in check Week 12 against the Cardinals.

Heyward-Bey played the biggest role. Though he only caught three passes for 22 yards, he managed to come down with a two-point conversion late in the game. Brazill actually finished with more yards, picking up 35 yards on three receptions. Cunningham caught just one pass for 4 yards.

They'll take on the Titans Week 13.

Colts offense in decent shape heading into Sunday game

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11/22/2013) Running back Trent Richardson heads a short list of offensive player on the Colts injury report released on Friday. He is questionable for the Week 12 game against the Cardinals with a calf injury.

Stanley Havili (concussion) has been ruled out, but fellow fullback Dan Herron and wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey are probable with ankle injuries.

Rounding out are the report is linebacker Kavell Conner, who is out with an ankle injury.

Darrius Heyward-Bey does little in win

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/15/2013) Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was held to just one reception for the second time in three games Thursday, in a 30-27 win over the Titans in Week 11.

Heyward-Bey was a nonfactor for much of the game, as he hauled in just one of three passes his way for 10 yards. His role in the team's offense remains limited, heading into Week 12 against the Cardinals.

Darrius Heyward-Bey has yet to break out

by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11/13/2013) Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey -- who was expected to step into a larger role after Reggie Wayne's season-ending injury -- has caught just four passes over the last two weeks for 40 total yards.

Heyward-Bey was targeted twice in the end zone in Week 10, and has seen six targets in his last two games, so there is hope, but he remains a low-end option. There's always a chance for a breakout here, but with seasons in crunch time, he's not worth the downside of another sub-five-point game.

Heyward-Bey is best left on the waiver wire in most formats.

Darrius Heyward-Bey denied two chances at TDs Week 10

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/10/2013) Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey had another quiet performance Week 10 vs. St. Louis. Heyward-Bey totaled three catches for 30 yards in the 38-8 loss.

The Colts tried on a few ocassions to get Heyward-Bey the football in the red zone. The first attempt came on a 9-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter, but the pass was intercepted in the end zone. Quarterback Andrew Luck then targeted Heyward-Bey on a 2-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, but Heyward-Bey was interfered with by Janoris Jenkins.

Heyward-Bey totaled six targets during the loss. The Colts are back in action Week 11 at Tennessee.

Darrius Heyward-Bey back from injury

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/10/2013) Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey is in uniform for Week 10 against the Rams, a week after leaving his game with a shoulder injury.

Colts in decent shape aside from secondary

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11/8/2013) Bad news for the secondary was accompanied by good news for the linebacking corps for the Colts on Friday. Both safety Delano Howell (neck) and cornerback Greg Toler (groin) have been ruled out for the Week 10 game against visiting St. Louis, but premier linebacker Robert Mathis (shoulder) practiced fully the last two days and is probable.

Also probable are wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey (shoulder) and linebacker Cam Johnson (knee). Running back Trent Richardson (ankle) and guard Hugh Thornton (calf) are questionable. Cornerback Josh Gordy (groin) and nose tackle Josh Chapman (knee) will be inactive.

Week 10 could decide Darrius Heyward-Bey's future value

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/6/2013) Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was a heavily added player in Fantasy leagues after Reggie Wayne sustained a season-ending injury in Week 7. However, Heyward-Bey was a huge disappointment Week 9 at Houston prior to sustaining a head injury in the fourth quarter, totaling one catch despite six targets.

We now move into Week 10, with the Colts hosting the Rams, and wonder if Heyward-Bey will begin to emerge as a reliable Fantasy option.

Wide receivers are averaging 159.8 receiving yards and 21.7 Fantasy points per week against the Rams. Receivers have also totaled 11 touchdowns in nine games.

Perhaps we need to give Heyward-Bey one more week before deciding whether or not he's a player worth dropping in Fantasy. T.Y. Hilton had a pretty big performance Week 9, so if teams start game planning to shut him down, then it could open up opportunities for Heyward-Bey.

Heyward-Bey is just a low-end Fantasy option in deep formats Week 10, but Sunday could be a make-or-break performance in regards to his future Fantasy value.
