Texans get minor contributions from role players in Week 2

(9/14/2014) The Texans received minor contributions from several role players in a Week 2 win over the Raiders.

In the passing game, tight end Garrett Graham and Damaris Johnson were each limited to one catch on one target. Graham caught a 26-yard pass in the first quarter, and Johnson caught a 4-yard pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick on the opening drive. Jonathan Grimes rushed for 9 yards on three carries, while Ronnie Brown gained 2 yards on three carries.

Bouye, OL Tyson Clabo, LB Brian Cushing, RB Arian Foster, DE Tim Jamison, CB Elbert Mack, LB Mike Mohamed, OL Chris Myers, OL Derek Newton, FB Jay Prosch, OL Xaier Su'a-Filo, DE J.J. Watt and DT Louis Nix II are all probable heading into the game.

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was the only player ruled out for Week 2.

Graham, who played in college at Wisconsin, just finished his fourth season with the Texans. He had 49 catches for 545 yards and five touchdowns in 2013, all career highs.

According to interim coach Wade Phillips, the hamstring injury that prevented Graham from playing in Week 15 has not improved, per the Houston Chronicle. Phillips expressed pessimism at the possibility of Graham suiting up.

His continued absence would thrust rookie Ryan Griffin back into the starting role. Griffin caught six passes for 62 yards in the loss to Indianapolis.
