News: The Tennessean reports that Titans running back Javon Ringer is recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery to repair an injury he suffered during the 2012 season. Ringer is expected to be fully healthy within a month, however. Ringer suffered a sprained MCL during the teams October 7 game against the Vikings, and the initial plan didnt call for surgery. He rehabbed the injury during the season, but was eventually placed on Injured Reserve after playing in just two games. Ringer, a fifth round pick by the team in 2009, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next month. Titans general manager Ruston Webster said the team would like to find a back to complement Chris Johnson more in 2013. Asked if the door is closed on Ringers return, he said: Not necessarily. But just like anybody else who has been injured, you have to take precaution there and you cant rely on guys who have missed time.
Analysis: In four NFL seasons, Ringer has amassed just 486 yards and three touchdowns. Hes dealt with a number of injuries during his career. If he returns to the Titans he would have minimal Fantasy value, but we don't expect Ringer to land a job with a heavy workload anywhere. He should not be drafted in the majority of leagues.
News: The Titans announced Friday that they have placed running back Javon Ringer in injured reserve, in order to clear room for defensive back Tracy Wilson. Ringer will miss the remainder of the season with an MCL injury.
Analysis: Last week, the Titans were adamant that they would not place Ringer on IR, so this must mean his recovery has hit a snag. He suffered the injury in Week 5, and was expected to miss four to five weeks with the injury initially. At this point, he is not worth owning in any Fantasy formats.
News: The Titans announced Monday that they have no plans to place running back Javon Ringer on injured reserve. Ringer is expected to miss four to five weeks with an MCL injury. Hes on target like we thought, coach Mike Munchak told The Tennessean. Hes feeling better, but its still hard to tell. But he should be able to get back this year.
Analysis: Ringer suffered the injury in Week 5 but is expected back later in the season so the Titans will keep him on the roster. He has rushed for just 14 yards on two carries in two games this season and Jamie Harper and Darius Reynaud will continue to backup Chris Johnson in his absence. Ringer has proven in the past to be a viable handcuff option in Fantasy but due to his injury, only stash him away in the deepest of formats.
News: Titans running back Javon Ringer is expected to miss the next four to six weeks with an MCL injury, the Tennesseean reports. Ringer left the team's previous game Sunday in the fourth quarter with a knee injury and needed to be carted off the field. He has totaled two carries for 14 yards in two games this season while also contributing three receptions for 12 yards.
Analysis: The Titans originally feared the injury would keep Ringer out for the season, but instead he will be sidelined until at least the middle of November. "Its definitely a big relief," Ringer said. "They said my ACL and my PCL are still intact. They said they got dinged a little bit, but arent torn." Still, he wasn't a major factor in the team's offense when he was healthy and should be left off rosters in most Fantasy formats while sidelined.
News: Titans running back Javon Ringer left Week 5 against the Vikings with a knee injury. Ringer injured his left knee while being tackled on a 4-yard reception late in the fourth quarter. He laid on the field for several minutes before being eventually carted off the field. Ringer finished with three receptions for 12 yards prior to leaving the contest.
Analysis: Ringer's injury looked pretty bad as his entire left leg seemed to bend in the wrong direction. He immediately grabbed for his knee and based on the faces of his teammates, this looks to be a serious injury. There were also some whispers circulating that his season could be over, so Fantasy owners should check back for the latest details Monday. It looks like Ringer could be sidelined for a while.
News: Titans running back Javon Ringer (elbow) was active for the first time Week 4 at Houston after missing the first three games.
Analysis: The Titans are probably glad to have Ringer back after the way Chris Johnson has struggled through the first three games. Perhaps bringing in Ringer as a change-of-pace back will help rejuvenate the running attack. Ringer is not a recommended Fantasy start for Week 4, but he remains a viable handcuff option for Johnson owners.
News: Titans running back Javon Ringer was inactive for the second straight game because of an elbow injury Week 3 against the Lions. He had surgery because of an elbow infection prior to Week 2.
Analysis: Ringer might have to miss a few games as he recovers from this procedure, but even when healthy, he's just the backup to Chris Johnson. He's a low-end handcuff option in Fantasy.
News: As expected, Titans running back Javon Ringer was ruled inactive for Week 2 against the Chargers. Ringer underwent a pair of surgeries this past week as a result of an elbow infection he was diagnosed with last week. He is currently resting as the scar tissue in his elbow is healing and is hoping to return to football activities next week.
Analysis: Ringer is hoping to get back on the field next week, but he will need to be cleared first. Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on his status moving forward to see how much he will be able to in practice in the days leading up to Tennessee's Week 3 matchup with the Lions. Ringer is expected to serve as Chris Johnson's backup when healthy, giving him value as mostly a handcuff option.
News: Titans running back Javon Ringer was ruled out for Week 2 at San Diego after requiring a pair of surgeries as a result of an elbow infection he was diagnosed with last week, The Tennessean reports. Ringer spent four nights in the hospital this week after having fluid drained from the infected area. He is currently resting as the scar tissue in his elbow is healing. "At first, even though it was swollen ... I knew it was serious, but I didnt know the extent of it until after the first surgery," Ringer said. "(Doctors) said they wanted to hurry up and get to it because if it got in my bloodstream, I probably could have lost my arm."
Analysis: Ringer said he hopes to return to football activities next week despite the potentially serious issue that he originally experienced last week. He even practiced last Friday before his arm swelled up Saturday and forcing him to check into the hospital. But the issue forced him to be an unexpected scratch in Week 1 and he will now miss his second straight game. Ringer is expected to serve as Chris Johnson's backup when healthy, but he obviously should not be relied on in any Fantasy formats for Week 2 against the Chargers.
News:The Tennessean reports Titans coach Mike Munchak said Monday running back Javon Ringer has been in and out of the hospital with an elbow infection, which is the reason why he was inactive Week 1 against the Patriots. Munchak said Ringer was in the hospital as of Monday.
Analysis: Ringer is Chris Johnson's primary backup. He does spell Johnson at times during the game, but he won't become the featured back as long as CJ2K is healthy. Ringer has most of his Fantasy value as a handcuff option for CJ2K owners.
News: Tennessee running back Javon Ringer was listed among the Titans' inactives for the Week 1 home game against the Patriots. Ringer was dealing with an elbow injury coming into the game for the Titans. The Titans should give more carries to Jamie Harper behind Chris Johnson.
Analysis: Ringer was expected to be Johnson's backup this season but the Titans decided to go a different way for the opener with Ringer banged up. Still, we don't expect much out of Ringer, even when active, so Fantasy owners can basically ignore him.
News: The Nashville City Paper reports that Titans running back Javon Ringer said his injured hand is feeling better. I have a plate and seven small, little screws, he said. That didnt take long to heal at all. I was pretty happy about that. Injuries are nothing new to Ringer. A back injury limited him to just three carries during the 2011 preseason. Ringer was held out of the 2011 season-opener at Jacksonville as well. Hes also battled through a knee injury. Ringer set career-highs with 59 rushes and 28 receptions last season, which ultimately was shortened by an injury. On Dec. 11 against New Orleans, he broke the hand on his only touch of the contest an 11-yard pass reception. He was inactive the following week and placed on injured reserve for the final two contests. I hit the ground, he said. When I got tackled I tried to catch myself and I ended up punching the ground really hard and I broke it.
Analysis: Ringer will once again be the No. 2 running back for the Titans behind Chris Johnson. We consider Ringer a handcuff option for Johnson, and he is worth drafting with a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: Tennessee placed RB Javon Ringer on injured reserve Tuesday after he suffered a broken hand in Week 14 against New Orleans. The Titans signed RB Quinn Johnson to take his place on the active roster, according to The Tennessean. Analysis: The season-ending move was hardly a surprise as Ringer was expected to miss the rest of the season after being sidelined for Week 15 against Indianapolis. Ringer had tallied less than 10 carries in each of his past six games, including two outings without an attempt, as he had been overshadowed by the re-emergence of RB Chris Johnson. Fantasy owners should release Ringer in all formats.
News: Titans coach Mike Munchak said Monday that RB Javon Ringer, who suffered a broken hand Week 14, is still not expected to play again this season. He missed his first game Week 15.
Analysis: Ringer was mostly a handcuff Fantasy option for CJ2K owners, so if you need the roster spot in seasonal formats, then cut Ringer.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer was inactive as expected Week 15 against the Colts because of a hand injury suffered Week 14. Jamie Harper will pull backup duty to starter Chris Johnson in Ringer's absence.
Analysis: Ringer might not make another appearance during the regular season as he recovers from a hand injury. He was mostly a handcuff Fantasy option for CJ2K owners, so if you need the roster spot in seasonal formats, then cut Ringer.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer, who might be done for the season after breaking his hand in the second quarter of the Week 14 game against the Saints, has officially been ruled out for Week 15 at Indianapolis. Ringer might be placed on IR before everything is said and done.
Analysis: Ringer has seen his production plummet following RB Chris Johnson's rejuvenated effort in the running game. He has recorded less than 10 carries in each of his past six games, including two outings without an attempt. Ringer remained an active member of the passing game and registered a career-high 28 catches this season. He's officially out for Week 15, and likely longer. Fantasy owners can pretty much cut ties at this point.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer will have surgery on his broken hand and is expected to be placed on injured reserve, according to The Tennessean. Ringer sustained the injury in the second quarter of Week 14 against New Orleans and left the game. The Titans could promote RB Herb Donaldson from the practice squad to fill the void. Another possibility is veteran RB Clinton Portis, who had a workout with the team in September.
Fantasy owners should release him in all formats once he officially lands on injured reserve.
News: Titans coach Mike Munchak still didn't know the extent of RB Javon Ringer's hand injury when he met with the media on Monday. He wouldn't reveal details about the injury, and he didn't say whether or not Ringer needed surgery.
Analysis: Ringer has been pretty non-existent in Fantasy the last few weeks ever since Chris Johnson re-emerged as an elite running back. Ringer is merely a handcuff option for CJ2K owners and not worth starting in Fantasy at this juncture.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer left in the second quarter Week 14 vs. New Orleans with a hand injury. He had no carries and one catch for 11 yards before getting hurt.
Analysis: Ringer has been pretty non-existent in Fantasy the last few weeks ever since Chris Johnson re-emerged as an elite running back. Ringer is merely a handcuff option for CJ2K owners and not worth starting in Fantasy at this juncture.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer rushed for 21 yards on five carries, while adding minus-8 yards on two catches in Week 13 at Buffalo. It was the first time Ringer rushed for more than 20 yards since rushing for 60 yards in Week 8.
Analysis: Ringer could probably start in the NFL and be a decent running back. Unfortunately, he sits behind one of the best RBs in the NFL in Chris Johnson, so his touches remain limited. Ringer remains more of a handcuff option for CJ2K owners heading into Week 14 vs. New Orleans.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer will face the Bills for the first time in his career Week 13. RBs average 19.2 Fantasy points per week against the Bills, which is ninth-highest in the NFL. RBs have also totaled 12 touchdowns (10 rushing) against Buffalo.
Analysis: Ringer rushed for 60 yards on 14 carries in Week 8 against the Colts, and afterward coach Mike Munchak said he was going to continue to split carries with Chris Johnson. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case. Ringer rushed for just 42 yards on 19 carries in November, while Johnson returned to form. Ringer still gets to play plenty every week and even works in passing situations. However, he is not a recommended Fantasy start until he becomes the lead back in Tennessee.
News: RB Javon Ringer continued to play a role in the Titans' passing game, getting targeted five times in a Week 12 win over the Buccaneers. However, Ringer gained just 6 yards on four catches to go along with his 12 yards of rushing on nine carries. Ringer has now been targeted 22 times over the last five games.
Analysis: Between spelling Chris Johnson in the running game and providing QB Matt Hasselbeck with a target out of the backfield, Ringer has been seeing the ball plenty in recent weeks. However, he rarely breaks off a big-yardage play, and he has only one touchdown this season. Unless Johnson goes down with an injury, there is no reason to start Ringer outside of the deepest of leagues.
News: RB Javon Ringer has become a more prominent part of the Titans' passing game in recent weeks, drawing a total of 17 targets over the last four games. If continues to get looks in Week 12, he could have a productive afternoon against the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay has allowed opposing running backs to gain an average of 52.8 receiving yards per game, which is the second-highest average in the league.
Analysis: Ringer hasn't been getting many carries lately, but he could tack onto the 98 receiving yards he has gained over the last four weeks when he goes up against the Buccaneers. While those aren't huge numbers, given the favorable matchup, he could produce enough in Week 12 to be worth using as a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer was a non-factor in the running game in Week 11 against the Falcons but was able to make some plays through the air. He did not receive a carry in the 23-17 loss, instead making three catches for 35 yards. He was targeted six times in the contest and had a long reception of 15 yards. Starter Chris Johnson finished with 13 yards on 12 carries in the defeat.
Analysis: Ringer did not receive a carry for the first time this season on Sunday as the Falcons did a solid job of shutting down the Titans' running game. While he was able to make some plays through the air, he did not push Johnson for carries and has now rushed for just 30 yards over the last three games. Owners should keep an eye on the running-back situation going forward to see if Tennessee decides to change things up. With Tampa Bay on the schedule for Week 12, consider Ringer as more of a low-end No. 3/ high-end No. 4 Fantasy RB.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer enters Week 11 against the Falcons having gained just 30 yards on 10 carries over his last two games. Over that span, starter Chris Johnson has rushed for 194 yards with a touchdown and also has 90 yards receiving. Atlanta ranks fourth in the league in run defense, giving up under 91 yards per contest, and allowed an average of 12.7 Fantasy points to opposing running backs.
Analysis: Ringer had been more involved in the offense earlier in the year when Johnson was struggling but since he has picked up his game in recent weeks, the 24-year-old has fallen by the wayside. He is a little better at running between the tackles than Johnson so he should see some carries against their Falcons and the tough front-seven. But seeing how the Titans rise and fall on the success of Johnson, Ringer does not appear to be a reliable play on Sunday. Consider Ringer as more of a No. 4 Fantasy RB or flex option for Week 11.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer rushed for 19 yards on six carries in Week 10 at Carolina. He also had one catch for 7 yards.
Analysis: After rushing for a season-high 60 yards in Week 8, Titans coach Mike Munchak said the plan moving forward was to split PT between Ringer and the struggling Chris Johnson. Unfortunately, the last two weeks have been a full serving of CJ2K, with Ringer getting backup touches. CJ2K is finally getting on track, so Ringer is back to being a poor Fantasy start. The Titans play the Falcons in Week 11.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer is looking at a favorable matchup in Week 10 at Carolina. The Panthers are yielding 25 Fantasy points per week to RBs, which is the highest in the NFL. RBs are averaging 126.6 rushing yards per game and 45.4 receiving yards per game against Carolina. RBs have a total of 12 touchdowns (eight rushing) against Carolina.
Analysis: Fantasy owners were anxious to start Ringer in Week 9 against the Bengals after coach Mike Munchak said he was going to split carries with the struggling Chris Johnson. Unfortunately, Ringer touched the ball five times and totaled two Fantasy points in standard formats, while CJ2K showed signs of life against Cincinnati. Therefore, Ringer takes a stumble down the Fantasy rankings again. Even with the favorable matchup, Ringer is looking like a No. 4 Fantasy RB since no teams are on byes.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer, who was expected to split carries with Chris Johnson Week 9, was limited against the Bengals on Sunday. With Johnson looking a little more like his old self, Ringer got just four carries for 11 yards. Johnson, meanwhile, had 14 carries for 64 yards and totaled 110 yards on the game. Ringer caught one pass for 14 more yards and was targeted twice in the game.
Analysis: As long as Johnson is running well, the Titans are liable to stay away from Ringer. Ringer, as well as Johnson, could have big games in Week 10 at Carolina. The Panthers are allowing the most Fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this season and have been routinely burned by the opposition running the football. The running back who can catch passes as well as run on the ground has the most potential against the Panthers and both Johnson and Ringer have shown the ability to do that. Carolina has already allowed a 200-yard rusher this season -- Matt Forte Week 4 -- so Johnson and Ringer have to be licking their lips. Still, after Johnson's Week 9, we find it hard to recommend starting Ringer Week 10.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer remains the backup to Chris Johnson heading into Week 9 against Cincinnati. That said, coach Mike Munchak finally came out and said the duo will be close to splitting carries evenly going forward. With Ringer out-performing Johnson on a regular basis, his Fantasy value is growing. Ringer had his best game yet in Week 8 against the Colts with 14 carries for 60 yards and he split carries 50-50 with Johnson in that game.
Analysis: Ringer has rushed 17 times for 91 yards in his last two games and that is a whole lot more than what can be said of Johnson's numbers. Fantasy owners are losing faith in Johnson and Ringer stands to benefit. That said, Tennessee takes on Cincinnati in Week 9 and the Bengals have been solid against the run this season. Seattle RBs totaled 18 carries for 58 yards last week so the Titans could struggle on the ground. Consider Ringer just a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB, at best, for the Week 9 game.
News:Javon Ringer continued to take on more work for the Titans while Chris Johnson struggled in Week 8. Against a ragged Colts run defense, Ringer totaled twice as many total yards from scrimmage as Johnson did in Tennessee's win. He rushed for 60 yards on 14 carries and added 42 yards on five catches. Ringer played in the 2:00 offense in the first half when the Titans drove for a late touchdown, and was in periodically in the second half including when the team tried killing the clock inside of 3:00 to play. He ran well on the outside edges but suffered from some of the same poor run blocking that Johnson has struggled with this season. Head coach Mike Munchak indicated after the game that Ringer will split reps with Johnson going forward.
Analysis: Well we're glad someone on the Titans was able to exploit the Colts' run defense. We think Ringer is going to continue to contribute for the Titans and get his own number of touches every week. If you're looking for a RB with 10-touch potential from week to week, not to mention a guy running harder than his heralded and highly paid teammate, go ahead and give Ringer a look off of waivers. He's a must-add as a bench player and one-week replacement, but owners in deeper leagues could and should give him a look as a potential regular option in the flex.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer ran for a season-high 31 yards a week ago and will be looking for more success in Week 8 against the Colts. Indianapolis ranks 31st in the league against the run, giving up nearly 151 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 24.1 Fantasy points to opposing running backs. In two games against the division foe a year ago, Ringer posted 30 total yards.
Analysis: Ringer continues to see minimal touches behind Chris Johnson in Tennessee and is averaging just 3 yards per carry. But if the Titans can build up a big lead on Sunday, which is a strong possibility, the 24-year-old could put up some stats in garbage time. While he remains a viable handcuff option to Johnson, consider Ringer as more of a No. 4 Fantasy RB or flex option for Week 8.
News: RB Javon Ringer provided the Titans with their longest play from scrimmage in a Week 7 loss to the Texans, but he didn't contribute much after a long third-quarter run. Ringer played a crucial role in the Titans' only scoring drive, accounting for 44 yards in that possession, including a 25-yard run. Ringer asked out of the game after that final long play due to fatigue, though he did return later in the game. "After the last one, I felt like we should get some fresh legs in there," Ringer said. "I didnt want to be selfish, I knew (Chris Johnson) was fresh." Ringer was the team's leading rusher with 31 yards on three carries, and he also caught one pass for 17 yards.
Analysis: Ringer didn't have a great game overall, but he did provide a brief spark just as the Titans were starting to look lifeless. Should Chris Johnson continue to struggle, perhaps Ringer will get more touches, but for now, it is safe to assume that Ringer will play a relatively minor role in the Titans' tepid offense. He should be stashed or on waivers in nearly all Fantasy formats.
News: In Week 5 against the Steelers, Titans RB Javon Ringer touched the ball nine times -- three rushes and six receptions -- and that represented a season high. Ringer will likely play a lesser role in Week 7 versus the Texans, as Titans top rusher Chris Johnson is expected to play after missing part of the Pittsburgh game with a hamstring injury. Ringer has produced a total of just 94 all-purpose yards for the season, and a matchup against the Texans won't help matters, as Houston has been the 10th-toughest defense for running backs to amass Fantasy points against.
Analysis: Ringer has been a non-factor in Fantasy for the most part this season, and there is little reason to think that will change in Week 7. Other than to be a handcuff option to Johnson, there is no need to roster Ringer, and he should not be starting in virtually any formats.
News: With starting RB Chris Johnson nursing a tight hamstring, backup Javon Ringer was the Titans' primary backfield option as the team was attempting to get back in the game in the fourth quarter of a blowout loss Week 5 at Pittsburgh. As a result, Ringer played a bigger role than usual in the passing game, catching six passes for 16 yards. Five of those receptions came in the fourth quarter. Ringer also had three carries for 12 yards in the contest.
Analysis: Ringer steals a few touches from Johnson every week, but he rarely contributes anything with those touches, as was the case again in Week 5. Johnson's injury isn't considered serious, so Ringer should go back to playing his usual minimal role when the Titans host the Texans in Week 7 after their bye in Week 6. If you own Ringer in Fantasy, it should strictly be as a handcuff option to Johnson.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer scored a touchdown Week 2 against Baltimore in his first action of the season. Although starting RB Chris Johnson has struggled for much of this year, Ringer only managed 2 rushing yards in his next two games on 10 carries against Denver and at Cleveland. Heading into Week 5 at Pittsburgh, and coming off Johnson's best week, not much is expected of Ringer. Plus, in two career games against Pittsburgh, Ringer has just two carries for 1 yard.
Analysis: Normally, Pittsburgh's defense is excellent, but this year has been different. The Steelers are allowing the 11th-most Fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. Arian Foster rushed 30 times for 155 yards and a TD against the Steelers just last week. The Steelers have allowed a rushing touchdown in three of four games this season. That said, after Johnson's Week 4, we expect him to get most of the touches, if not all. We don't expect a lot out of Ringer and consider him just a flex option, at best, for the Week 5 game.
News: Even with his team leading by a significant margin for much of the game, Titans backup RB Javon Ringer didn't get much of a chance to contribute Week 4 at Cleveland. He gave starter Chris Johnson a breather now and then, rushing for 4 yards on four carries, but never got extended playing time. Johnson, meanwhile, ran for 101 yards on 23 carries.
Analysis: Normally a backup running back will get a little extra playing time when his team is running out the clock in a lopsided game, but the Titans didn't want to waste the opportunity to get their star running back going. Clearly, they're committed to Johnson and will give him every chance to succeed, so Ringer is nothing more than a handcuff option in Fantasy. You shouldn't plan on playing him when the Titans visit the Steelers in Week 5.
News: Titans reserve RB Javon Ringer has gotten 11 carries in relief of the struggling Chris Johnson over the last two weeks. If he gets a handful more Week 4 at Cleveland, he might turn in some decent yardage. The Browns rank 29th against the run, allowing 128.7 yards per game. They allowed 121 rushing yards to Cedric Benson in Week 1 and 95 rushing yards to rookie Daniel Thomas in Week 3.
Analysis: Ringer hasn't exactly made the most of his opportunities this season, averaging 1.4 yards per carry, but the Titans' willingness to turn to him is reason why he could make a relevant Fantasy contribution this week. If Johnson is unable to take advantage of the favorable matchup, the Titans might turn to Ringer just to see if he can. It's a long shot, of course, so you wouldn't want to start Ringer outside of the deepest of Fantasy leagues. But the possibility of him stealing carries from Johnson both now and in the future makes him a recommended handcuff option for Johnson owners.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer got a few more chances to play in the wake of Chris Johnson's disappointing totals, but he didn't do much with the time. On six carries Ringer went backwards for minus-6 yards and caught two passes for 17 yards.
Analysis: Expect Ringer to continue seeing limited work behind Chris Johnson and not be a real factor for Fantasy owners. At best he's a good insurance policy for those who own Chris Johnson. Don't plan on using him in Week 4 at Cleveland.
News: Titans coach Mike Munchak said during his Monday's press conference that he wants to get RB Javon Ringer more involved on offense in the coming weeks. However, it's not because he is down on Chris Johnson, who has struggled to begin the season. Munchak doesn't want to overwork Johnson as the Titans have done in past seasons. We all have confidence that when he is in there, something good can still happen. It is not, 'C.J. is not in the game, we cant run the ball,'" Munchak said. I have always been a big Javon Ringer fan. I think he runs hard, he is smart, he can play third down for us and is a good blocker. We are very confident when he is in the game. And he handled it very well (against Baltimore). He is a guy who can make plays. I am excited he is healthy.
Analysis: Ringer scored a touchdown and rushed for 21 yards against the Ravens. He missed the opener because of a sore back and was limited in the preseason with a hip injury. But now that he is healthy he is running with purpose, and the Titans plan to cash in on that. Ringer might get 5-10 touches per game, but CJ2K is still the featured back. Ringer is a nice handcuff option for Johnson owners, but he still doesn't have much starting Fantasy appeal heading into Week 3 against the Broncos.
News: The only Titans running back to score in Week 2 against the Ravens wasn't Chris Johnson but Javon Ringer. With the game tied at 10, Tennessee started the second half with Ringer in the backfield. He helped march the offense down the field for a 75-yard touchdown drive that ended with a 10-yard scoring scamper from Ringer, who then turned the RB duties back over to Johnson. Ringer finished with five rushes for 21 yards and two catches for 30 yards. "He had a good week at practice and we wanted him on the field and like we said we were hoping to mix him even more with Chris," coach Mike Munchak said of Ringer. "Even last week we probably would have played (Jamie) Harper more if we had more plays. This week we had more. It was more like a normal game for offense as far as reps so, no, we definitely wanted to mix in. Chris got tired. Theres spots where he was on the field quite a bit because we had some long drives so this way we were able to mix him in. Hes a playmaker. We like him. I always have. He runs hard with the ball, blocks well. Hes the complete package so were happy we have the two of them."
Analysis: Ringer had a better Fantasy day in Week 2 than Johnson had in Week 1 and Week 2. It's been a rough start for Johnson, who missed most of the preseason because of a contract holdout. Ringer missed Week 1 with a back injury, but he looked sharp on Sunday. Look, the Titans paid Johnson a lot of money so he is going to be the featured back. But Ringer is worth holding onto in Fantasy just in case CJ gets injured. Don't plan on starting Ringer, however, heading into Week 3 against the Broncos.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer, who missed Week 1 with a back injury, is active for Week 2 vs. Baltimore. He was probable on the injury report.
Analysis: The fact Chris Johnson is still working his way back into shape after missing most of the preseason due to a contract holdout allows Ringer and Jamie Harper to be a part of the running game. However, Ringer will likely get minimal touches in Week 2, so it's not time to activate him in Fantasy. He remains more of a handcuff option for Johnson owners.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer, who missed Week 1 with a back injury, is listed as probable for Week 2 vs. Baltimore.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer (back) returned to full practice reps Wednesday as Tennessee prepares for Week 2 against the Ravens. Ringer was inactive for Week 1, but he said he expects to play this week.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer, who has been dealing with an ongoing back injury, was ruled inactive for the Week 1 matchup against the Jaguars. He was originally listed as questionable for the matchup when the official injury report came out on Friday. Ringer was held out of practice all week.
Analysis: Ringer's time on the sidelines means that Chris Johnson will mean that much more to the offense, and rookie Jaime Harper may be in the mix for some carries. As for Ringer, he has been banged up throughout camp and the preseason, so he should be considered an injury risk for the first few weeks of the year. But as long as Johnson is healthy, he has minimal Fantasy value anyway.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer (back) is listed as questionable for Week 1 against the Jaguars after missing a third straight practice on Friday. Jamie Harper would be Chris Johnson's backup if Ringer is unable to play Sunday.
Analysis: Ringer had hip problems in the preseason and now is in jeopardy of missing the start of the season due to a sore back. Even if Ringer is active on Sunday, you would think he would be severely limited. Don't plan on starting Ringer in Fantasy Week 1. He remains more of a handcuff option for CJ owners anyway.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer didn't return to practice Thursday because of a sore back, and his status for Week 1 against the Jaguars is in question. Were running out of days, coach Mike Munchak said. Tomorrow is kind of the day to see who else we can get out there.
Analysis: If Ringer is unable to play Week 1, then Jamie Harper will back up starter Chris Johnson and might get some carries since CJ is still working into shape after a lengthy contract holdout. Fantasy owners shouldn't plan on starting Ringer in Week 1 -- healthy or not. He remains more of a handcuff Fantasy option for CJ owners.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer had a sore back Wednesday, so he was held out of practice. The Titans hope he returns Thursday as the team prepares for Week 1 against the Jaguars.
Analysis: Ringer seems past the hip injury that bothered him this preseason, but now he has another ailment to contend with, which could limit his touches in Week 1. Ringer would have been more valuable from a Fantasy standpoint had Chris Johnson continued to hold out. Ringer is still worth holding onto as a handcuff option in Fantasy, but don't plan on starting him in Week 1.
News: With the return of Chris Johnson to the Titans, RB Javon Ringer is unlikely to start for the team, much less see a lot of playing time. Speculation is that Ringer, if healthy, will begin the season getting some work as the Titans ease Johnson back into action. But once Johnson knocks off the rust, Ringer isn't expected to see much work. Ringer is currently sidelined with a hip injury but is expected to be fine for Week 1 against the Jaguars.
Analysis: We still recommend Ringer as a handcuff for Johnson for the early weeks of the season, but really he's not worth drafting as anything more than a late-round reserve now that CJ2K is back with the Titans.
News: Titans coach Mike Munchak confirmed on Monday that RB Javon Ringer (hip) will not play in the team's prseason finale against the Saints on Thursday. For Ringer, it will be his third consecutive preseason game missed.
Analysis: Ringer is anticipated back at practice this week, but not in time to be ready for game action. There is also no need to risk further injury in a preseason game. With Chris Johnson's holdout lingering, Ringer appears to be in line to be the team's starter and primary back for Week 1 at Jacksonville if he proves healthy. Ringer has become just about a must-own insurance policy for Johnson owners and could be of significant use in the early going this season. Continue to monitor his situation.
News:The Tennessean reports that Titans RB Javon Ringer, who has missed two straight preseason games with a hip injury, is likely to miss the finale against the Saints on Thursday. The team is anticipating a return to practice this week, though the game is a tougher situation to digest. I think wed probably just be happy to have him back in practice this week, working back in the drills, getting back into game-like speed and then probably not play him on Thursday night, coach Mike Munchak said. Expect Jaime Harper to get the start once again for Ringer.
Analysis: Ringer has been a bit of a frustrating player to keep up with this preseason, considering so many people are taking him late in Fantasy drafts with starting RB Chris Johnson holding his ground in a holdout. The injury continues to affect his chances to remain the backup as Harper shows flashes of solid play on every chance he gets. Keep an eye on the issue further, though Ringer remains a player who should be selected late for all of the people who snag Johnson in Round 1unless Harper officially overtakes him as the backup.
News:The Tennessean reports that Titans RB Javon Ringer will miss his second straight preseason game Saturday against the Bears. His hip injury has healed slower than expected, though the season opener doesn't appear to be in jeopardy for now. "It is (disappointing) you get to that third game and youd like to have everyone in there that you feel is going to have to contribute in Jacksonville for the opener, coach Mike Munchak said. But again, we still have quite a bit of time for guys that do have some nicks to recover. All these guys should be available for the (Jacksonville) game and theyll probably be ready to finish up with the Saints game (Sept. 1).
Analysis: Ringer is in danger of missing the preseason finale as well, but it seems as if he will be ready to go once the season begins. The team's RB situation gets more tricky everyday, especially with Chris Johnson holding his ground during a lengthy holdout. Fantasy owners should keep an eye the situation, as rookie Jaime Harper should be able to shoulder the load in the "dress rehearsal" game Saturday, as the starters are expected to see extended playing time. Ringer is still considered the No. 2 back behind Johnson, but he may have to deal with Harper if he turns in another solid performance. For now, consider him to be the handcuff option to CJ2K, worth a late-round pick on Draft Day.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer was expected to return to practice Wednesday, but he remained out with a hip injury. Coach Mike Munchak is unsure if Ringer will play Saturday vs. the Bears. Hes been running without a lot of issues, but is still not at game time speed, Munchak said. We are still waiting until tomorrow.
Analysis: Ringer is expected to once again backup Chris Johnson, who remains in a holdout position against the team. In the mean time, rookie Jaime Harper has emerged as the back to keep an eye on in Tennessee. Still, Ringer is worth keeping tabs on especially with Johnson not with the team. Fantasy owners should still consider him to be a late-round option in all formats not only as a handcuff to CJ2K, but as a possible starter should he miss regular-season games. Stay tuned.
News:The Tennessean reports that Titans RB Javon Ringer is expected to play against the Bears on Saturday. Ringer has been battling a hip injury that wasn't considered serious, forcing him from last Saturday's game at St. Louis. Ringer said Monday the condition of his injured hip is steadily improving after taking a knee to his side against the Vikings. "It hurts a little bit, but not as much as it did last week," Ringer said.
Analysis: Ringer is all but locked into the primary backup role behind Chris Johnson, who is holding out. Rookie Jamie Harper, who started in place of Ringer on Saturday against the Rams, did well and could challenge for reps. We think Ringer's experience and overall game gives him an edge over Harper, and it's important to note that since Ringer might start for the Titans in Week 1 against the Jaguars if Chris Johnson's holdout continues into the season. He's worth a pick in the middle-to-late rounds as not only a must-get handcuff for Johnson but a potential sleeper for the 2011 season.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer was not on the active roster for Saturday's preseason game against St. Louis. Ringer left the Titans' exhibition opener last Saturday versus Minnesota with a hip injury and was limited at practice this past week. Ringer registered three carries for 17 yards and two receptions also for 17 yards in the first preseason game.
Analysis: With star RB Chris Johnson continuing his prolonged holdout, Tennessee is likely exercising caution with Ringer, who served as Johnson's backup last season. Ringer, who is entering his third NFL season out of Michigan State, has been receiving the first-team reps during practice in place of Johnson. We still expect Johnson to be on the field before the start of the season, but Fantasy owners should look to Ringer as a strong handcuff option in the later rounds of most drafts.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer left Saturdays game against the Vikings with a hip injury and remained out during Mondays practice. Ringer is questionable for Saturdays game at St. Louis. Jamie Harper, a fourth-round pick, will likely start if Ringer is unavailable. Wed find out real fast how good of condition hes in, coach Mike Munchak said.
Analysis: Ringer finished with three carries for 17 yards and two catches for 17 yards before leaving with the injury, getting the start for Chris Johnson a midst his hold out. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the Michigan State product's progress going forward, especially with Johnson still not in camp. Ringer was learning the new offense and getting the first-team action throughout camp, and he remains the No. 2 RB for the team and the handcuff option for Johnson owners.
News: With Titans RB Chris Johnson still holding out due to his contract, Javon Ringer started the preseason opener Saturday night against Minnesota. Ringer had three carries for 17 yards and two catches for 17 yards.
Analysis: Ringer's Fantasy value continues to rise every day Johnson remains out. We don't expect Johnson to miss the regular season, but Ringer is now worth a look with a late-round pick in all Fantasy leagues even if you don't draft Johnson early in Round 1. And if Johnson is out to begin the season and Ringer is the starter then he would be worth an early-round selection in all leagues.
News: With star RB Chris Johnson holding out of training camp for a second straight day, fellow RB Javon Ringer proved to be a capable replacement, according to Titans coaches. I have always liked Javon, new coach Mike Munchak said. Hes a great zone runner. Hes quick to the line of scrimmage and I think thats why we went after him."
Analysis: Ringer could face competition for the backup running back spot behind Johnson this season after rookie Jamie Harper joined the team. The 24-year-old Ringer is the likely favorite after playing in all 16 games with Tennessee last season and piling up 239 yards and two touchdowns on 51 carries. Fantasy owners should lean on Ringer -- until further notice -- as a handcuff to Johnson in the late rounds of upcoming drafts.
News: The Tennessean reports that Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt might have an open competition for the No. 2 RB in Tennessee behind starter Chris Johnson. And whoever wins that battle between incumbent Javon Ringer and rookie Jamie Harper, who was drafted in Round 4, could see some significant carries based on what Reinfeldt said in a recent conference call. Every time we called on him, he stepped in and did a pretty good job," Reinfeldt said of Ringer. "Hes got to become a little bit better special teams player. Its hard to have a backup running back that doesnt play special teams. I think in a perfect world, wed like to have that second back carry six to eight times a game, and that would either be (Ringer) or (Harper), that we drafted.
Analysis: We expect Ringer to win the job, but it's clear that Reinfeldt wants to see him improve. And if Harper plays well prior to the season then he could step into that No. 2 role. Heading into training camp, plan on Ringer being the backup to Johnson, and he would be worth a late-round flier in all leagues if you draft Johnson in Round 1. But if Reinfeldt is true to his word that the No. 2 RB will get six to eight carries then Ringer could be worth a late-round flier in deep leagues based on that potential workload.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer will look to get back into the running game in Week 17 against Indianapolis on Sunday. Ringer did not receive a carry in the Titans' loss at Kansas City in Week 16 and was targeted just once in the passing game. He has now recorded just six carries in his last four games for 29 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Ringer has done little this season, even as Chris Johnson's primary handcuff. The second-year back has totaled 234 rushing yards on 50 carries but has not surpassed more than 50 yards in a game this season. With Johnson healthy and hoping for his third 100-yard game in his last four outings, Ringer is not a recommended Fantasy play in Week 17.
News: Titans backup RB Javon Ringer got to finish off a touchdown drive Week 15 against the Texans, scoring on a 7-yard scamper up the middle in the third quarter. The score came immediately after a 42-yard run by starting RB Chris Johnson. Ringer finished with 4 carries for 19 yards.
Analysis: Ringer has good numbers in limited playing time, but he rarely gets more than three or four carries in relief of Johnson. He has little value in Fantasy except as a handcuff option. Keep him reserved for Week 16 at Kansas City.
News: When the Titans host the Texans in Week 15, reserve RB Javon Ringer will get a second crack at a team that allowed him to rush for 27 yards on four carries back in Week 12. The Texans rank sixth against the run, allowing 98.5 yards per game.
Analysis: Starting RB Chris Johnson was at his worst in that Week 12 game, giving Ringer more of a chance to contribute than usual. The second-year player usually gets only two or three carries per game and likely won't get more than that this week unless the Titans build up a big lead unexpectedly. He's a handcuff option at best in Fantasy.
News: After not receiving a single touch in last week's loss to the Jaguars, Titans RB Javon Ringer didn't see many more in the Week 14 game against the Colts. He carried the ball just twice for 10 yards and caught one pass for 8 yards.
Analysis: Ringer is the 2 RB in Tennessee, but there is not much of a distribution between he and starting RB Chris Johnson, who had 30 touches on Thursday night. In Week 15, the team will take on the Texans, who held Ringer to 31 yards on five touches last month when the teams met. Heading into that matchup we don't see any reason to give Ringer a look in Fantasy play.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer did not receive a single carry in last week's loss to the Jaguars. Starting RB Chris Johnson got the ball just 13 times and he has been vocal about his frustration heading into the Week 14 game against the Colts. Indianapolis ranks just 29th against the run.
Analysis: Ringer is the No. 2 RB in Tennessee, but there is not much of a distribution between he and Johnson. Now, against a poor run defense like the Colts, Johnson should be able to bounce back from his own recent struggles. This could open up a bit more opportunity for Ringer, but not enough to warrant Fantasy value, especially with the Fantasy playoffs starting in some formats. Avoid Ringer unless something happens to Johnson.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer will face the Jaguars in Week 13, a team he ran for a season-high 42 yards against earlier this year. Jacksonville ranks 20th against the run and is allowing opposing RBs to average 19.6 Fantasy points.
Analysis: Ringer filled in nicely for the struggling Chris Johnson last week, but it's hard to expect CJ2K to have two awful outings in a row, so Ringer will probably be limited to just a handful of carries again on Sunday. He remains merely a handcuff to Johnson's owners and should not be started in Week 13.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer didn't get as many carries as starter Chris Johnson but did end up with more yards. While Johnson had the worst game of career, Ringer picked up a little slack and had 27 yards on four carries with a 4-yard catch.
Analysis: Ringer would only see relevant playing time if Johnson were to be sidelined, so as of now don't count on him for Fantasy help. However, it's a brilliant idea to add Ringer to your bench in the event that you own Johnson since he'd be the guy for the Titans in such an unfortunate circumstance. The Titans play vs. the Jaguars in Week 13.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer continued running towards anonymity in the Week 11 overtime loss to Washington. Ringer touched the ball just once for 1 yard in the game. He was not targeted in the passing game, either.
Analysis: Ringer is nothing but the hand cuff to Chris Johnson. In recent weeks that has meant almost no production whatsoever. Ignore him entering Week 12 at Houston unless something happens to Johnson during the practice week.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer has rushed for 16 yards on 10 carries in his last three games combined entering Week 11 against Washington. He hasn't seen more than 10 carries in any game this season. He has scored a touchdown, but that came Week 1 against Oakland. He hasn't scored since.
Analysis: Ringer will be facing a Redskins team that is middle of the pack at limiting opposing running backs. Just last week against the Eagles, Washington allowed Jerome Harrison, who shares touches with LeSean McCoy, to rush for over 100 yards on just 11 touches. Ringer won't get 11 touches, however, and is not worth having on any active rosters for Week 11.
News: In Week 10, Titans backup RB Javon Ringer will likely get a few touches against the pretty decent Miami run defense that has allowed just one 100-yard rushing game and three ground touchdowns this season.
Analysis: Ringer remains just a handcuff option for Chris Johnson's owners, who will be hoping dearly that they don't have to use him at any point this season. He might see just 3-5 touches on Sunday against Miami, so continue to stash him away for the time being if you own CJ2K.
News: The Titans have claimed WR Randy Moss off waivers from the Vikings, which means he'll help stretch defenses for the team's run game. Chris Johnson is the main man in Tennessee's offense obviously, but if anything were to happen to Johnson, then Javon Ringer would step in. Ringer already sees a few touches each week, totaling 33 carries for 173 yards with a touchdown and 17 yards receiving this season.
Analysis: Frankly, with the Titans' great remaining schedule and Moss coming in to help ease the burden on the run game, all owners counting on Chris Johnson week in and week out should invest a roster spot in Ringer. That way, if something happens to CJ2K, then owners would have an "insurance policy" already on the roster in Ringer. But even if you don't have Johnson, Ringer is worth a flier in the event that Johnson misses some playing time. If you have deep rosters and Ringer is sitting out there, dial him up.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer did not receive too many opportunities to produce in Week 8 against the Chargers. He carried the ball just two times, gaining 3 yards in the 33-25 loss. He finished second on the team in rushing behind Chris Johnson's 59 yards.
Analysis: Ringer has rushed for 173 yards and one touchdown through the first eight games this season and will continue to see minimal carries as long as Johnson is healthy. He remains merely a backup and should only be owned as a handcuff option at this point. With the Titans on a bye next week, leave Ringer on the bench for Week 10 against the Dolphins.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer has not had much production as the backup to All-Pro Chris Johnson this season and will face a tough run defense in the Chargers during Week 8. San Diego ranks fourth in the league against the run, giving up an average of only 85.7 yards per games. Also, the Chargers have been able to limit opposing running backs to just 13.1 Fantasy points per outing.
Analysis: Ringer has rushed for 170 yards and one touchdown through the first seven games this season and will continue to see minimal carries while Johnson is healthy. Johnson sat out practice earlier in the week with a thigh injury but he is expected to be ready for Sunday's matchup. Ringer remains merely a backup to one of the most heavily used running backs in the NFL and should only be owned as a handcuff option. Ringer should be viewed as a low-end No. 4 Fantasy RB against the Chargers in Week 8.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer got just two touches in Week 8 against the Eagles. He gained 9 yards combined. Ringer had rushed a career-high 10 times in his previous game.
Analysis: Ringer remains merely a backup to one of the most heavily used running backs in the NFL. While he possesses solid long-term upside, he should only be owned as a handcuff for Johnson owners or in keeper leagues at this time.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer, coming off a game in which he saw a career-high 10 carries, will look to keep that momentum going in Week 7 against the Eagles. He will be up against a defense that has struggled against the run this season. The Eagles rank 22nd in the NFL against the run, giving up 115.7 yards per game. They have allowed four rushing touchdowns in six games.
Analysis: Ringer saw some extra touches late in Week 6 in a 30-3 blowout win in Jacksonville. Prior to that, he hadn't seen more than six carries in any game. The Titans rely almost exclusively on Chris Johnson, who leads the league in carries. While they may seek to limit Johnson's carries down the line in order to avoid overworking him, we don't anticipate Ringer seeing enough carries in Week 7 to be considered a useful Fantasy start.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer had one of the more productive games of his young career against the Jaguars in Week 6. He carried the ball a career-high 10 times for 42 yards in the 30-3 win. Ringer was the feature back on a few drives as Tennessee had all but locked up the victory. He had a long run of 13 and averaged 4.2 yards per carry while finishing second on the team in rushing behind Chris Johnson (111 yards, one touchdown). Ringer also caught one pass for 8 yards.
Analysis: Ringer saw some decent playing time as Johnson came into Week 6 with a minor thigh injury and the fact that the built up a huge lead over the Jaguars. He has shown the ability to be a tough runner and a valuable backup, but playing behind one of the best running backs in the league does not bode well for his Fantasy value. Ringer has run for 161 yards and one touchdown this season but remains a reserve in most leagues as long as he is backing up Johnson. Leave the former Spartan in the bench for Week 7 against the Eagles.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer has carried the ball 19 times for 119 yards and a touchdown through the first five games but does not stand to have a productive game in Week 6 against the Jaguars. Depite Jacksonville giving up an average of 16.20 Fantasy points to opposing running backs, Ringer remains second string to All-Pro RB Chris Johnson.
Analysis: Ringer has shown flashes of his ability this season, but unless something happens to Johnson, he likely will play only a minor role. Jacksonville also ranks 13th in the league against the run, giving up an average of 102.8 yards per game on the ground, but Ringer will continue to see minimal action as long as he is the backup. Continue to view him as a handcuff option to Johnson for the time being. Only have Ringer starting in the deepest of leagues for Week 6.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer was not much of a factor in Week 5 against the Cowboys. Ringer had 5 yards rushing on four carries and averaged just 1.3 yards per carry. He also had one reception for 9 yards in the 34-27 loss. Ringer finished with five total touches for 14 yards and did not score in the contest.
Analysis: Ringer has shown flashes of his ability this season, but unless something happens to Chris Johnson, he likely will play only a minor role. Continue to view him as a handcuff option to Johnson for the time being. We do not recommend starting him in Week 6 at Jacksonville.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer has been dangerous every time he has touched the football in 2010. He is averaging 7.6 yards per carry. Unfortunately, he has just 15 carries in four games. Ringer looks to keep his rushing average elevated in Week 5 against the Cowboys. Dallas has held opposing RBs to 4.1 yards per carry and haven't allowed them to score on the ground. Running backs are averaging just 11.3 Fantasy points per week against Dallas, which is the sixth lowest total in the NFL.
Analysis: Ringer is showing that he is as explosive as Titans starting RB Chris Johnson. However, as long as Johnson is healthy, it's going to be tough for Ringer to get a good amount of carries and make an impact in Fantasy. The Cowboys run a 3-4 defense, which has slowed Johnson in 2010. But CJ is healthy going into Week 5 and will still be the feature back. Ringer is not a recommended Fantasy start Week 5.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer ran the ball just twice in Week 4, but one of those carries had a huge impact. His 54-yard run in the second quarter set up a touchdown pass from QB Vince Young to WR Kenny Britt, which was the Titans' only offensive touchdown in a 26-20 loss to the Broncos. Ringer's only other carry was for negative yardage, and he finished with 50 yards on the afternoon.
Analysis: Despite his spectacular run, Ringer didn't show enough to prove his worth in Fantasy. While coach Jeff Fisher told reporters that he was considering giving Ringer more touches in Week 4, he actually wound up giving him four fewer than he received in Week 3 against the Giants. The Titans' offense is centered around Chris Johnson, so all other skill players wind up being complementary pieces. Ringer should continue to be benched in all Fantasy formats.
News: Titans coach Jeff Fisher is considering giving RB Javon Ringer some additional carries on Sunday for the Week 4 matchup against the Broncos. Teammate Chris Johnson had 32 carries in Week 3 at the Giants, and he leads the NFL in carries for the season. Ringer has only 13 rush attempts this year for a total of 64 yards.
Analysis: All of Ringer's carries against the Giants came in the fourth quarter, so perhaps his good late showing has convinced Fisher to give him more chances. As long as Johnson is the No. 1 back for the Titans, there shouldn't be too many slices of the pie left over for Ringer. Keep an eye on his carries and yardage, but for now, keep Ringer benched in all Fantasy formats.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer saw some touches in garbage time against the Giants in Week 2 after starter Chris Johnson was taken out of the game for good. Ringer finished the game with six carries for 30 yards (5.0 yards per carry), including a 17-yard scamper that nearly resulted in a touchdown.
Analysis: Ringer did not see his first carry in the game until early in the fourth quarter. He showed some promise against a defeated Giants defense late in the game with it already in hand. While Johnson remains healthy, it is clear the team has little to no desire to get the promising young back into the mix and Fantasy owners will have to continue to keep him out of active lineups as a result. He has decent long-term upside, but there is no question about whose team it is in Tennessee.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer, who saw just two carries for a total of 1 yard in Week 2 against the Steelers, will face a Giants team that allowed 160 rushing yards in Week 2 at Indianapolis. Ringer has carried the ball just seven times for 34 yards in the first two weeks of the season.
Analysis: Ringer scored in Week 1 against Oakland in a 38-13 drubbing of the Raiders, but has seen very limited reps behind star RB Chris Johnson. Expect that to continue as long as Johnson is healthy. Ringer isn't in line for much more than a handful of touches per game and should not be activated in any format despite his Week 1 touchdown.
News: Titans No. 2 RB Javon Ringer will face a stiff test in Week 2 against the Steelers. They gave up a mere 58 yards rushing in their 15-9 overtime win over Atlanta in Week 1 and ranked No. 3 in the NFL against the rush last season, allowing 89.9 yards per game and just seven rushing touchdowns in 16 games.
Analysis: With Troy Polamalu healthy and flying around making tackles, the Steelers defense is that much strong than it was for the better part of last season. As a backup to one of the top RBs in the league, Ringer isn't in line for much more than a handful of touches per game and that limits his Fantasy appeal. Despite the fact the former Michigan State standout scored a touchdown on one of his five carries in Week 1, he is not a recommend Fantasy option in most formats for Week 2.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer scored a touchdown on his second carry of the season on Sunday of Week 1 in a win over Oakland. Ringer took a second-quarter carry, his second of the game, 15 yards for a touchdown. He finished with five carries for 33 yards in the game. Ringer's touchdown made the score 17-3 Tennessee and capped an 8-play, 61-yard drive.
Analysis: Ringer definitely looked like he could make a difference in the Tennessee ground game. That is, of course, if there wasn't a guy named Chris Johnson running ahead of him. After this Week 1 performance, consider Ringer someone to think about handcuffing Johnson with. If Johnson gets hurt, Ringer could become important. Until then, however, Ringer should not be active in any Fantasy leagues for Week 2 against Pittsburgh.
News: Tennessee second-year RB Javon Ringer had a solid preseason and was named No. 2 on the depth chart behind Chris Johnson for Week 1 at home against Oakland. Ringer obviously has no history against the Raiders but Oakland was one of the worst NFL teams against the rush in 2009. The Raiders allowed almost 156 rushing yards per game last season and tied for the worst in the NFL with 24 touchdowns allowed on the ground.
Analysis: Ringer is not going to get too many carries behind Johnson but if this one isn't close early enough, he could see more touches in the second half. The matchup is what makes Ringer's value slightly higher than normal in Week 1. Unfortunately, we still don't expect enough out of him for you to use him in most Fantasy leagues. He could be a sleeper in the deepest of formats.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer looked sharp at times on Monday night in a preseason win over the Cardinals. Ringer, who finished second on the team in rushing behind LeGarrette Blount, finished with 27 yards rushing on seven carries and had a long carry of 16 yards. He added two catches for seven yards. Ringer has now totaled 87 yards rushing on 14 carries over two preseason games. He is averaging 6.2 yards per touch.
Analysis: Ringer rushed just eight times in seven games for the Titans last season and finished the year with 48 yards on the ground. This season, Ringer is the No. 2 man for the Titans and should see plenty of carries behind Chris Johnson. That said, he wouldn't really gain Fantasy value unless Johnson gets injured. Plan on drafting Ringer with a late-round pick if you target Johnson at the top of the draft. In deeper leagues, Ringer can be considered a low-end No. 4 Fantasy option.
News: Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger told the Tennessean that he has "confidence" in Javon Ringer as the No. 1 backup behind Chris Johnson. "I like his running ability and the things Javon does," Heimerdinger said. "We just have to keep him healthy." Ringer is ahead of rookies Stafon Johnson and LeGarette Blount for the No. 2 job. "Well, I think Stafon's had a good offseason," Heimerdinger said. "I like the things he does. But it's hard to tell with rookies until you put the pads on. ... So as far as the grasp of the offense, I think Stafon has grasped the offense and knows what we want to do with him. LeGarette is behind because he didn't come in until late (because of college commitments), so he was only here for three OTAs, so I have to hold out judgment on that."
Analysis: When looking at a handcuff option for Chris Johnson, Ringer is the player to target. He might not get a lot of carries during the season, but he could be helpful is Johnson goes down. Plan on drafting Ringer with a late-round pick if you target Johnson at the top of the draft. In deeper leagues, Ringer can be considered a low-end No. 4 Fantasy option.
News: While stud rusher Chris Johnson stays away from Titans camp this offseason, the Tennessean reports that RB Javon Ringer has taken on the first-team reps and is making progress in his game. "I think this has been really good for Javon," offensive coordinator Mike Heimderdinger said. "Javon had like his redshirt year (as a rookie). He carried the ball a lot of times in college. His running ability is really good. (But) this has been really good for him to learn the passing game, and if there's one thing Javon was behind on last year, it was the passing game and protection. That took a little time and he didn't have much background in that and what they did (at Michigan State). So this has been good for him to learn what we want from him and the protections and all that."
Analysis: We suspect that Ringer will see a few carries each week this season now that LenDale White isn't standing between him and Chris Johnson on the depth chart. And, if Johnson were to miss some time, Ringer would be the candidate to fill in the most. He's well worth drafting late this season as an insurance policy for those owners who take Johnson with an early first-round pick.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer, who has been getting all of the first-team reps during OTA workouts in the absence of Chris Johnson, was held out of practice Tuesday with a tweaked hamstring. "He's just sore," coach Jeff Fisher said. "It's nothing to be concerned with." Johnson is seeking a contract extension and has not participated in offseason workouts.
Analysis: Ringer has the chance to see a boost in value this season with LenDale White now in Seattle. Hopefully he will be fine for the start of training camp, and Ringer is worth a late-round pick in all leagues. He should definitely be considered a handcuff option for Johnson, and Ringer could see his share of carries as the Titans try to keep Johnson fresh for the entire year.
News: The Titans inactives for Friday's game against the Chargers include WR Dominique Edison, RB Javon Ringer, RB/KR Alvin Pearman, CB Rod Hood, LB Keith Bulluck (torn ACL), TE Craig Stevens (concussion) and DE Jevon Kearse.
Analysis: Keep all of these players reserved for Week 16, including Bulluck, who is out for the year. The rest of these players have minimal Fantasy value when active.
News: Titans WR Justin Gage, RB Javon Ringer, RB Alvin Pearman, DB Roderick Hood, LB Colin Allred, DL Jason Jones and DL Sen'Derrick Marks have all been listed as inactive for the team's Week 13 game against the Colts.
Analysis: With the exception of Gage, none of these players have any real Fantasy value and should continue to be ignored in all formats.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer had a 1-yard carry Week 12 against the Cardinals. It was his first carry since he had seven in Week 6.
Analysis: Ringer is too far behind Chris Johnson to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 13 at Indianapolis.
News: As expected, Tennessee listed Justin Gage among the team's inactives for Week 11 on Monday night at Houston. The rest of the team's inactives are as follows: RB Javon Ringer, RB Alvin Pearman, LB David Thornton, LB Collin Allred, DT Jason Jones and DE Jevon Kearse.
Analysis: Coach Jeff Fisher said Gage would not require surgery, but he's unsure how long the veteran will be sidelined. Gage has minimal value outside deeper Fantasy leagues, when healthy. The rest of the players listed above do not need to be on any Fantasy rosters at this point in the season.
News: The Titans listed the following players as inactive for Week 10 against Buffalo: WR Justin Gage, DB Nick Harper, RB Javon Ringer, DB Jason McCourty and LB Stanford Keglar.
Analysis: Outside of Gage, none of the players listed are expected to carry any significant Fantasy appeal this season. Leave them on waivers until further notice.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer, who spent a night in the hospital after hurting his back Oct. 28, practiced for the first time Thursday. He is questionable for the team's Week 10 game against the Bills.
Analysis: Ringer is the No. 3 RB behind Chris Johnson and LenDale White. He has minimal Fantasy value when healthy and should not be active in any format for Week 10 even if he is able to play.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer, DB Nick Harper, LB David Thornton, DL Sen'Derrick Marks, DL Jevon Kearse and DL Dave Ball have all been listed as inactive for the team's Week 9 game against the 49ers.
Analysis: Ringer is the No. 3 RB behind Chris Johnson and LenDale White. He has minimal Fantasy value when healthy. The rest of these players also have little to no Fantasy value.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer has been ruled out of the team's Week 9 game against the 49ers with a back injury.
Analysis: Ringer is the No. 3 RB behind Chris Johnson and LenDale White. He has minimal Fantasy value when healthy and should not be active in any format for Week 9.
News: Titans DB Nick Harper, RB Javon Ringer, DB Cary Williams, DL Jovan Haye, TE Craig Stevens, DL Jevon Kearse and RB Alvin Pearman have all been ruled inactive for Week 8 vs. Jacksonville.
Analysis: Harper and Kearse can be used as low-end Fantasy options in IDP leagues when active. Ringer is more of a long-term keeper since he is currently third on the depth chart. Most of the other players are reserves and have little to no Fantasy appeal. Make sure to keep them reserved in Week 8.
News: Tennessee RB Javon Ringer watched practice Thursday after a night spent in a hospital with an injured back, and coach Jeff Fisher says they are optimistic the rookie won't miss a lot of time. Ringer was hurt after catching a pass Wednesday and was in such pain he had to be carted off the field. An All-American at Michigan State, Ringer was the Titans' fifth-round pick at No. 173 overall. Fisher would not elaborate on the injury to Ringer's back, but said he will be OK after team officials initially feared the worst.
Analysis: Ringer is the No. 3 RB behind Chris Johnson and LenDale White. He has minimal Fantasy value and should not be used in Week 8 against Jacksonville even if he's able to play.
News: RB Javon Ringer hurt his lower back or hip near the end of practice and was carted off the field on Wednesday before being helped inside the team's building. Head coach Jeff Fisher did not have any information on the severity of the injury, though the rookie was in obvious pain.
Analysis: Ringer got his first carries in the NFL in Week 7 but is not a significant contributor yet. Even if he does play Week 8, he is not a recommended option.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer got the first carries of his career during a 59-0 loss to the Patriots in Week 6. Ringer, who replaced an injured LenDale White, carried the ball seven times for 47 yards in the second half. His longest rush went for 32 yards.
Analysis: Ringer started his NFL career as a kick returner before finally getting a chance to showcase his talents in the backfield during a rout in Week 6. Ringer did quite well and might get some carries moving forward. However, he is still third on the depth chart when everyone is healthy. Ringer remains more of a long-term Fantasy keeper. The Titans don't play again until Week 8 against Jacksonville (bye in Week 7).
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer and WR Mark Jones were active for Sunday's game against the Colts but did not record an offensive stat. Jones had four kickoff returns for 73 yards and two punt returns for 15 yards.
Analysis: Neither Ringer or Jones are worth owning in most Fantasy leagues. Ignore both in Week 6 at New England.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer, TE Craig Stevens and QB Vince Young all dressed for Tennessee's Week 4 loss to the Jaguars, but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: Young is the only one in this group with any Fantasy value, as he could fill in for Kerry Collins at some point this season. The others can all be ignored in Week 5 vs. Indianapolis.
News: Titans TE Craig Stevens, WR Dominique Edison, RB Javon Ringer, RB Chris Henry, FB Ahmard Hall, TE Jared Cook and QB Vince Young all dressed for a Week 2 loss to the Texans but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: Outside of Young, who has minimal value as Kerry Collins' backup, none of these guys have any Fantasy value heading into Week 3 at the Jets.
News: Titans RB Javon Ringer, TE Craig Stevens, QB Vince Young and WR Dominique Edison all dressed but failed to record an offensive stat during Week 1 against the Steelers.
Analysis: Young has been relegated to a backup role to Kerry Collins and that won't change unless Collins starts stinking up the joint or is injured. Pretty much all these players are backups or special teams contributors. They have little to no Fantasy value heading into Week 2 against the Texans.
News: Tennessee rookie RB Javon Ringer led the team in rushing during Friday's preseason loss to the Cowboys. Ringer took the ball a team-high five times and finished with 33 yards -- also a team high. He had a long carry of 16 yards and also caught two passes for 7 yards. The team's projected No. 1 and 2 backs, Chris Johnson and LenDale White only touched the ball two times apiece and finished with seven total yards between them.
Analysis: Ringer definitely has upside behind Johnson and White, but he shouldn't be drafted in seasonal leagues this season. His best bet for playing time will come if Johnson or White get hurt. In rookie-only drafts, plan on taking Ringer with a late-round pick.
News: The Tennessean reports the Titans have agreed to terms with rookie RB Javon Ringer, a fifth-round selection, will compete this summer in a crowded backfield for one of several backup positions behind Chris Johnson and LenDale White. Ringer left Michigan State last season as the Big Ten Conference's 10th all-time leading rusher with 4,398 yards. He will compete with Chris Henry, Quinton Ganther and Rafael Little for the remaining spots on the depth chart.
Analysis: Ringer has the most upside of the group behind Johnson and White, but he shouldn't be drafted in seasonal leagues this season. His best bet for playing time will come if Johnson or White get hurt. In rookie-only drafts, plan on taking Ringer with a late-round pick.
News: The Tennessean reports the Titans are looking for a third RB behind Chris Johnson and LenDale White. Chris Henry, a second-round pick in 2007, will compete for the No. 3 spot with Quinton Ganther, who appeared in 13 games last season, mostly on special teams. Henry, meanwhile, was inactive for all but one game in 2008. The competition continues with Rafael Little, the former University of Kentucky standout who spent last season recovering from an ACL injury, and rookie Javon Ringer, a fifth-round pick from Michigan State. "Each one knows that they're competing for playing time and a position on this team, so there's something to be said about that," Titans running backs coach Earnest Byner said.
Analysis: The winner of this spot only has Fantasy value if Johnson or White get hurt. Ignore these guys on Draft Day but only keep them in mind during the season if an injury occurs.
News: The Titans drafted RB Javon Ringer from Michigan State in fifth round of the NFL Draft on Sunday with overall pick No. 173. Ringer has undergone two major knee surgeries during his college career. He will compete for playing time with Chris Henry as a backup to Chris Johnson and LenDale White.
Analysis: The Titans are established at RB with Johnson and White. Don't expect Ringer to get much playing time and ignore him in all leagues this season.
