News: Lions wide receiver Mike Thomas was barely involved during Saturday's contest at home against the Falcons in Week 16. Thomas took an end-around for an 8-yard gain in the first quarter and caught a short, 5-yard pass in the third quarter for his only production of the night in a 31-18 defeat.
Analysis: Thomas was brought in to fill in the void for Ryan Broyles and Titus Young, who are both on the injured reserve list. Unfortunately, that has not been the case for the 25-year-old. He has more rushing yards (58) than receiving yards (21) since joining the Lions mid-season. He has marginal Fantasy value in the deepest of formats heading into the final week of the season at home against the Bears.
News: With Ryan Broyles and Titus Young both on injured reserve, Lions wide receiver Mike Thomas failed to pick up the slack in the passing game during Sunday's contest against the Packers in Week 14. He did not come up with a catch or a target in a 27-20 defeat. He did, however, received a pair of end-arounds for a total of 25 yards on the ground.
Analysis: Thomas was brought over from Jacksonville in late October, but has only caught three passes for 16 yards and a touchdown. In fact, he has more rushing yards (39) than receiving yards (16) with the Lions this season. He is expected to fill somewhat of the void left behind from Broyles and Young down the stretch. Thomas will try to bounce back against the Cardinals in Week 15. Arizona allowed 58 points and 209 yards passing against the Seahawks in Week 14. It's no give that he'll become an impact player, so consider him as a low-end option in the deepest of Fantasy formats until he starts to produce.
News: Lions coach Jim Schwartz delivered the disappointing news Monday wide receiver Ryan Broyles will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee. Broyles suffered a torn ACL in his left knee last season in college. Schwartz also told reporters the Lions will make a roster move at wide receiver this week, but wide receiver Titus Young, who has been benched the last two games because of disciplinary reasons, "will not be in the mix" to replace Broyles heading into Week 14 at Green Bay. Mike Thomas is listed as Broyles' backup on the Lions' depth chart. Kassim Osgood and Brian Robiskie are also on the roster. Tight end Tony Scheffler, who has been used in wide-receiver sets before, could also help replace Broyles' presence in the passing game.
Analysis: Thomas was brought over from Jacksonville in late October, but he has managed just three catches for 16 yards in five games (one start) for Detroit. Well, he might get his chance to play a bigger role on offense with Broyles' season-ending injury. Still, we recommend a wait-and-see approach in Fantasy regarding Thomas. He might be worth a flier in the deepest of Fantasy formats, but it's no given he becomes an impact player.
News: Lions receiver Mike Thomas had one catch for minus-1 yard Sunday against the Colts in Week 13. He had four targets.
Analysis: Thomas could see an increased role with Ryan Broyles (knee) hurt and Titus Young inactive. Keep an eye on what develops, but Thomas could be worth adding in deeper leagues heading into Week 14 at Green Bay. We would consider Thomas a No. 4 Fantasy receiver if he's named a starter in place of Broyles and Young.
News:Mike Thomas saw a bump in playing time with the Lions benching receiver Titus Young, and he took advantage of the opportunity. Thomas caught two passes for 17 yards including a 5-yard touchdown and added 14 yards on an end-around.
Analysis: Thomas might see more playing time depending on how the Lions move forward with Young, but it was rookie Ryan Broyles who stole the show opposite from Calvin Johnson with 126 big yards on six grabs. Thomas is only worth owning in the deepest of PPR leagues.
News: The Lions traded for Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas Tuesday. Thomas has 13 catches for 80 yards and no touchdowns in seven games this season.
Analysis: The thinking here is that Thomas has been added for punt return duties as well as for depth and will not challenge the roles of Titus Young and Ryan Broyles for now. Thomas is a veteran NFL receiver, but now is not the time to add him in Fantasy.
News: Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas came up with most of the passes thrown his way in Week 7 against the Raiders. He was targeted three times, catching two passes for 17 yards in the 26-23 loss.
Analysis: Thomas has just nine catches for 61 yards on the year and is not worth owning in the majority of Fantasy formats. Continue to ignore him heading into Week 8 against the Packers.
News: Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas was not much of a factor in Week 5 against the Bears. Thomas hauled in four receptions for 15 yards in the 41-3 defeat and had a long of just 5 yards. He was targeted eight times by quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
Analysis: Thomas' four receptions were a season high for the 25-year-old as he had yet to catch more than a single pass in a game. However, all his receptions Sunday were on short routes as he is not for his ability to stretch the field. At this point in the season, Fantasy owners should continue to ignore Thomas in all formats. Jacksonville has a bye in Week 6 before heading out to Oakland to face the Raiders in Week 7.
News: The Florida Times-Union reported Thursday that Jaguars receiver Mike Thomas has been dropped down in the depth chart in the early days of training camp, as a result of his struggles so far. Thomas, who signed a three-year, $18 million extension with the Jaguars this offseason, he been bumped below second-year receiver Cecil Shorts, who is now practicing with the first team.
Analysis: Thomas disappointed in his third NFL season, finishing with career lows in catches (44), yards (415), and touchdowns (1), and he seems to have fallen out of favor with the coaching staff. Justin Blackmons eventual signing will only serve to further lower Thomas standing on the team. At this point, given the Jaguars anemic passing game and his place on the roster, Thomas is not worth targeting on Draft Day.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas had three catches for 26 yards during the Jaguars' 23-17 loss to Tennessee in Week 16. Thomas, who had a long gain of 16 yards, registered six targets from QB Blaine Gabbert during his first game since returning from a concussion.
Analysis: Thomas sustained the serious head injury in Week 14 Tampa Bay and was forced to miss one game after not being cleared to practice. He seemed alert during Saturday's game against the Titans and finished with more than two receptions for the first time since Nov. 20 at Cleveland (three). However, he hardly remains a scoring threat for the Jaguars and should be viewed as a marginal Fantasy option in Week 17 against Indianapolis.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas is active for Week 16 at Tennessee after overcoming a concussion. Thomas, who was sidelined last Sunday, was listed as probable on the team's injury report after passing a concussion test earlier this week.
Analysis: Thomas leads the Jaguars with 40 receptions for 391 yards and a touchdown, but his production remains limited with Blaine Gabbert under center. The Titans are permitting an average of 17.4 Fantasy points per game to opposing receivers this season. For Week 16, Thomas should not be viewed as a worthwhile Fantasy option.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas is considered a game-time decision for Week 16 at Tennessee after passing a concussion test. He is officially listed as probable on the team's injury report after being limited in practice since being cleared for contract earlier this week.
Analysis: Thomas leads the Jaguars with 40 receptions for 391 yards and a touchdown, but his production remains limited with Blaine Gabbert under center. The Titans are permitting an average of 17.4 Fantasy points per game to opposing receivers and Thomas managed a season-high eight catches in the teams' Week 1 meeting. However, that was QB Luke McCown started that game for the Jaguars and Thomas was healthy. For Week 16, Thomas should not be viewed as a worthwhile Fantasy option.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas (concussion) attended practice Thursday morning and worked on the side, but did not appear to be working in full. He was then listed as limited on the practice report. The teams leading receiver is expected to undergo a baseline concussion test Thursday to determine if he can play Saturday in Tennessee.
Analysis: Thomas, 24, leads the team with 40 receptions for 391 yards and a touchdown, but his production remains limited with Blaine Gabbert under center. The Titans are permitting an average of 17.4 Fantasy points per game to opposing receivers and Thomas managed a season-high eight catches in the teams' Week 1 meeting. However, that was QB Luke McCown started that game for the Jaguars and Thomas was healthy. For Week 16, he should not be considered a worthwhile Fantasy option against Tennessee.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas status for Week 16 against the Titans remains uncertain. He did not practice Wednesday and will undergo a baseline concussion test Thursday after missing last Thursdays game in Atlanta with a concussion.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas practiced lightly Tuesday, but was not cleared for contact, interim coach Mel Tucker said. Thomas said he will undergo a baseline concussion test Thursday to determine if he can play in Week 16 at Tennessee. He was inactive for last Thursday's game against Atlanta. Thomas has not surpassed two catches in his previous three outings while failing to reach the end zone since Week 3 at Carolina.
News: As expected Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas was inactive for Thursday's contest versus Atlanta as he's still dealing with concussion-like symptoms. He was ruled out on Wednesday and will try to be ready for Week 16 against Tennessee.
Analysis: Thomas has been the best receiver on the Jaguars this season, but has not been very valuable in Fantasy. He has just 40 catches for 391 yards with a touchdown on the year. While he should be able to return at some point this season, owners in deeper Fantasy formats should be the only ones concerned with him at this point. Thomas should remain reserved until further notice.
News: The Jaguars ruled WR Mike Thomas out for Week 15 against the Falcons on Wednesday. He was unable to practice the entire week leading up to Thursday after leaving Jacksonville's previous game with a head injury.
Analysis: Thomas has been the best receiver on the Jaguars this season but has not been very valuable in Fantasy. He has just 40 catches for 391 yards with a touchdown on the year. While he should be able to return at some point this season, owners in deeper Fantasy formats should be the only ones concerned with him at this point. Look for healthier options for Week 15.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas did not practice for the second day in a row Tuesday as he continues to deal with a concussion. Thomas suffered the head injury during the second quarter of Week 14 against Tampa Bay and did not return to the game.
Analysis: Thomas will likely be sidelined for Week 15 against Atlanta on Thursday night as the short turnaround won't help him recover in time. However, Thomas hasn't been a huge Fantasy contributor this season and hasn't tallied more than three receptions since Week 6. He should remain on the bench in all formats for Week 15 even if he is able to play.
News: Jaguars interim coach Mel Tucker said Monday that WR Mike Thomas is day to day with a head injury suffered Week 14. His status for Thursday's game against the Falcons remains questionable.
Analysis: The short turnaround won't work in Thomas' favor. It's likely he sits out Week 15, especially if he suffered a concussion. The league has strict protocol on concussions, so Jacksonville might keep Thomas reserved a week. Thomas has had a very disappointing season and is not a recommended Fantasy option at this time.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas will miss the remainder of the team's Week 14 outing against Tampa Bay after leaving with a head injury during the second quarter. Thomas took a blow to the head on a tackle and was attended to by team trainers before heading to the locker room.
Analysis: Thomas had registered only one reception for two yards before departing the game. It was the third consecutive game he has finished with less than three catches as he continues to struggle forming a bond with QB Blaine Gabbert. Thomas also has not reached the end zone in the past 10 games and has just one touchdown this season. He should not be considered a starting Fantasy option the remainder of the year regardless of health.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas has been one of several players crippled by the Jaguars' rash of injuries this season. Thomas has been held under 30 yards in each of his past six games as he's struggled mightily to duplicate his impressive 2010 campaign. With rookie Blaine Gabbert under center, the 24-year-old has managed more than four catches in a game only once as he's scored just one touchdown overall this season.
Analysis: Despite Thomas' limited production recently, he has fared well against the NFC. The Jaguars host Tampa Bay in Week 14 and Thomas will be looking to add to his recent scoring run versus foes from the conference. Thomas has three touchdown receptions in his past five outings against NFC opponents. The Buccaneers are surrendering an average of 21.8 Fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts this season, but Thomas is not a recommended Fantasy option in Week 14.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas had another slow performance in Week 13 against the Chargers. He caught two passes for 21 yards in the 38-14 loss. He was targeted six times by QB Blaine Gabbert in the defeat.
Analysis: Thomas remains the No. 1 WR in Jacksonville but definitely has not been producing like one. He has just eight catches for 56 yards over the last four games as Gabbert continues to struggle as a rookie. Heading into Week 14 against the Buccaneers, consider Thomas as more of a low-end Fantasy WR.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas enters Week 13 against the Chargers with just six catches for 35 yards over his last three games. San Diego ranks ninth in the league in pass defense, giving up under 206 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 19.9 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts.
Analysis: Thomas remains the No. 1 option in the passing game with Jason Hill be released earlier in the week but due to the struggles at QB in Jacksonville, his production has been lacking. His value in Fantasy will depend on how quickly Blaine Gabbert can develop so keep an eye on the situation going forward. But since the Chargers have been solid against the pass thus far, plan on leaving Thomas on the bench in the majority of Fantasy leagues for Week 13.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas had a quiet game Sunday in Week 12. Thomas had two catches for 11 yards on five targets.
Analysis: Thomas has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues. Ignore him in all formats in Week 13 against San Diego.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas had another disappointing performance Week 11 at Cleveland. He finished with just three catches for 23 yards, despite being tied for a team-high 11 targets. One of those targets came on the last play of the game in the end zone. But Blaine Gabbert's pass was behind Thomas, who had a 1-yard touchdown deflect off his hands.
Analysis: Do you remember when Thomas came into the season with so much promise after he was elevated to the top of the receiver depth chart in Jacksonville following Mike Sims-Walker's departure? Needless to say he has fallen way short of expectations this season and his numbers continue to be awful. He now hasn't surpassed 30 yards in four straight games. Thomas has very low-end Fantasy appeal heading into Week 12 vs. Houston. He had three catches for 24 yards in Week 8 against the Texans.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas scored a touchdown against Cleveland last season and has 12 catches for 101 yards in his last two games against the Browns, his Week 11 opponent. But the 2011 matchup certainly isn't an easy one for the Jaguars' leading receiver. Cleveland is allowing WRs to average 11.7 Fantasy points per week, which is the lowest in the NFL. WRs have totaled just four touchdowns
Analysis: Thomas has had some ugly numbers lately as rookie QB Blaine Gabbert has struggled. Thomas has just five catches for 33 yards in his last three games. On Sunday, he could see a heavy dose of CB Joe Haden, which doesn't help Thomas' chances to have a good game. Consider him a desperation Fantasy option.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas, who entered the game averaging 22.7 receiving yards over his last three, hit a new low Week 10 at Indianapolis. He caught one pass for 1 yard. He also had one run for 12 yards. He was targeted just once in the contest.
Analysis: The lack of targets for Thomas is a little surprising, but the lack of production isn't all his fault. He's catching passes from rookie QB Blaine Gabbert, who actually had one of his better games by throwing for 118 yards in Week 10. With the emergence of new options like Chastin West and Jarett Dillard in a passing game that can't sustain the options it already has, Thomas is looking unlikely to make a relevant Fantasy contribution anytime soon. The Jaguars visit the Browns in Week 11.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas has only one touchdown catch this season, but the good news is he's visiting a Colts team in Week 10 that has allowed an NFL-high 18 touchdowns through the air. They rank 24th against the pass, giving up 260.0 yards per game, and allow 27.3 Fantasy points per game to wide receivers, most in the NFL. Thomas lone receiving touchdown against the Colts came in 2009, but he did top 60 receiving yards in both of his games against them last year. He has reached that number only once in eight games this year.
Analysis: The matchup may be right, but unfortunately, rookie Blaine Gabbert is still the one throwing Thomas the football. Gabbert is coming off back-to-back games with less than 100 yards through the air, so a good performance from him in this favorable matchup still might not be enough to make Thomas relevant in Fantasy. Plus, WR Jason Hill has been Gabbert's preferred target in the end zone, catching each of his last three touchdown passes. Despite the favorable matchup, Thomas remains nothing more than a last resort in Fantasy.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas had a quiet game Sunday at the Texans in Week 8. Thomas had three catches for 24 yards on four targets.
Analysis: Thomas has become irrelevant for Fantasy owners as the season has gone on with the emergence of Jason Hill, and we don't expect Thomas to do much going forward. The Jaguars have a bye in Week 9 before playing at the Colts in Week 10, but Thomas should not be used in the majority of leagues.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas had a reduced role in Week 7 against Baltimore as he played behind Mike Sims-Walker and Jason Hill, and that leaves his Fantasy value in a tenuous state heading into Week 8 at Houston. Thomas has seen his targets decline from 11 in Week 4 to one against the Ravens. It's unfortunate that Thomas is likely the odd man out, especially against the Texans, since we all remember his performance against Houston last year when he had eight catches for 149 yards and a Hail Mary touchdown to win the game. This season, Houston has allowed six touchdowns to opposing receivers and six to reach double digits in Fantasy points.
Analysis: Thomas is just too inconsistent to trust, especially since he would be the No. 3 WR for a bad passing team. Ignore him in all leagues against the Texans.
News: In a surprise move, the Jaguars started WR Mike Sims-Walker over WR Mike Thomas in Week 7 against the Ravens. Thomas still saw plenty of snaps on offense, but finished with just one reception for eight yards in the 12-7 win. He was only targeted once by QB Blaine Gabbert but did finish with 37 return yards on six punts in the contest.
Analysis: Thomas was bumped from the starting lineup on Monday night, which is not a good sign for Fantasy owners. It appears coach Jack Del Rio is wants Jason Hill paired up with Sims-Walker on the outside -- at least for now -- making Thomas the likely No. 3 option. While the 24-year-old has been one of the more productive receivers on Jacksonville, that fact that he appears to have lost his starting gig is a troubling sign. Owners should keep tabs on how the team plans on using him in Week 8 against the Texans. If Thomas has in fact lost his starting spot, he should be considered merely a low-end option against Houston.
News: After catching just four passes for 36 yards his last time out, Jaguars WR Mike Thomas will look to get back on track in Week 7 against the Ravens. Baltimore ranks seventh in the league against the pass, giving up just under 210 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 21.8 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts.
Analysis: Thomas remains one of the more productive receivers on Jacksonville but playing on a bad team has definitely hindered his Fantasy value. He has found the end zone just once thus far and has yet to go over the century mark. He should get better as rookie QB Blaine Gabbert progresses but with a tough matchup in line for Week 7, consider Thomas as more of a low-end No. 3/high-end No. 4 Fantasy WR against the Ravens.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas led the Jaguars in receptions (four) and yards (36) during a 17-13 loss to Pittsburgh in Week 6 on Sunday. Thomas was targeted six times by QB Blaine Gabbert as he managed a season-low 9.0 yards per reception as Jacksonville lost its fifth straight game.
Analysis: Thomas' production this season has ultimately been tied to Gabbert, which isn't a good sign for Fantasy owners. The third-year wideout has not surpassed five receptions this year while recording just one touchdown in five games. After surpassing 100 yards in a game once last season, Thomas could have a difficult time hitting that mark this year with Gabbert under center. Fantasy owners should consider keeping him reserved in most formats for Week 7 against Baltimore.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas will be going up against the best pass defense in the NFL in Week 6 against the Steelers. Pittsburgh is giving up just 174 yards per contest, ranked No. 1 in the league, and have held opposing wideouts to 12.4 Fantasy points.
Analysis: Thomas has been the best receiver on Jacksonville so far this season and is averaging 11.5 yards per catch. While he has found the end zone just once, he appears to be building a solid rapport with rookie QB Blaine Gabbert and has performed well enough to earn a three-year extension. But since he will be going up against a tough pass defense in Week 6, consider Thomas as more of a No. 4 Fantasy WR or flex option against the Steelers.
News: For the fourth time this season, Jaguars WR Mike Thomas exceeded 50 receiving yards, though the Bengals emerged victorious, 30-20, in Week 5. Thomas hauled in three passes for 53 yards, including a 24-yard grab that helped to position the Jaguars to score the first touchdown of the game. Only WR Jason Hill was the recipient of more targets, as QB Blaine Gabbert threw to Thomas seven times. Thomas also ran the ball once for a four-yard loss.
Analysis: Thomas leads the Jaguars in targets, but with the inexperienced Gabbert at the helm, that doesn't guarantee that he will get big yardage every week. Owners should view Thomas as merely a low-end option for Fantasy.
News: The Jaguars signed WR Mike Thomas to a three-year contract extension Thursday. Thomas has had some difficult matchups so far this season and the sledding is about to get tougher. In Week 5, he will face a Bengals secondary that has limited opponents to the third-lowest passing yardage per game in the league. Cincinnati has been especially tough on wide receivers, as only the Steelers have allowed them to rack up fewer Fantasy points per game. Last week, Thomas caught five passes for 73 yards against the Saints, who represented his most favorable matchup of the year to date.
Analysis: Thomas has fared reasonably well against the Saints, Panthers and Titans, but he mustered only 29 receiving yards against the Jets in Week 2. With the risk of Thomas having another subpar week, owners should consider him to be nothing more than a low-end Fantasy start in standard leagues for his upcoming game against the Bengals.

Analysis: Thomas has fared reasonably well against the Saints, Panthers and Titans, but he mustered only 29 receiving yards against the Jets in Week 2. With the risk of Thomas having another subpar week, owners should consider him to be nothing more than a reserve in standard leagues for his upcoming game against the Bengals.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas led his team in receiving in Week 4 against the Saints. He finished the game with team-high five catches for 73 yards and was targeted 11 times in the game.
Analysis: In an afternoon where the Jaguars threw it 42 times, Thomas was rookie QB Blaine Gabbert's favorite target. Unfortunately, Gabbert looked shaky and threw more incomplete passes than completions. Thomas' role as a No. 1 option in his team's pass offense makes him viable in most standard formats, though the fact that he's a No. 1 option on a very low-end pass offense limits his appeal. Consider him a decent low-end starter now that the bye weeks have come around, but don't count on him for major production in Week 5 when the Jaguars take on the Bengals.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas will be up against a Saints defense in Week 4 that has struggled against the pass early on this season. Through the first three weeks of the season, they have allowed the fifth most Fantasy points in standard-scoring leagues against opposing wide receivers.
Analysis: The Saints were burned by Packers wide receivers in Week 1 for 20 catches, 243 yards and three touchdowns. They have allowed at least one touchdown to opposing receivers in each game. However, while the Packers have Aaron Rodgers and the Texans have Matt Schaub, Thomas will have rookie Blaine Gabbert throwing him the ball in just his second NFL start. Thomas remains the No. 1 WR on the team's depth chart and should see plenty of looks, but he remains little more than a No. 4 WR option in Fantasy until he and Gabbert can establish a good rapport. Last week, in a rain-soaked game against the Panthers, Thomas caught four passes for 55 yards -- including Gabbert's first touchdown pass.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas couldn't score a touchdown in two games with Luke McCown at quarterback, but he came through in rookie Blaine Gabbert's first start Week 3 at Carolina. With the clock running down late in the second quarter, Gabbert connected with Thomas on a 36-yard strike down the middle of the field to give the Jaguars a 10-5 lead going into the half. Thomas, who was targeted a team-high eight times, finished with four catches and 55 yards.
Analysis: The 55 receiving yards equals season high for Thomas, which shows you just how miserable the Jaguars' passing game has been so far. As far as wide receivers go, he's the best the Jaguars have, so the lack of production through the first three weeks is a little disturbing. Maybe as Gabbert grows into the role, Thomas' production will increase, but this one touchdown isn't justification enough for you to start him in Fantasy. He has upside, but he's more like a No. 4 wide receiver against the Saints in Week 4.
News: After an eight-catch, 55-yard performance in Week 1, Jaguars WR Mike Thomas went missing at the Jets in Week 2, finishing with three catches for 29 yards. Of course, the Jaguars passing game as a whole went missing, which is the reason why rookie Blaine Gabbert will be taking over at quarterback at Carolina in Week 3. With TE Marcedes Lewis still hobbled by a calf injury, Thomas figures to be Gabbert's preferred target in Week 3 and could do some damage against a defense that ranks 26th against the pass this season, allowing 295.0 yards per game.
Analysis: The transition from Luke McCown to Gabbert at quarterback certainly can't hurt Thomas' Fantasy value. Still, you have to expect some growing pains for any rookie quarterback in the NFL. Thomas is clearly one of the better receiving options on his team, but he might not be a particularly consistent Fantasy option. Considering the Panthers defense also struggles against the run, ranking 19th in the NFL, the Jaguars might want to lean more on the running game in Gabbert's first start. You wouldn't want to use Thomas as more than a No. 4 Fantasy WR this week.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas had three receptions for 29 yards in the Jaguars' 32-3 loss to the Jets in Week 2 on Sunday. Thomas registered two of his catches in the first half and finished with a game-high 10 targets from Jacksonville quarterbacks Luke McCown and Blaine Gabbert.
Analysis: Thomas was also the team's leader in targets during Week 1 when he saw 11 passes against Tennessee. He was again the focal point of the passing game as the Jaguars were missing starting TE Marcedes Lewis to injury. However, he managed just nine yards on his lone catch in the second half as Jacksonville could not chip away at the large deficit. Consider him a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 3 at Carolina.
News: Despite not recording a touchdown in the season-opener against Tennessee, Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas still turned in a promising debut as the team's top receiver. Thomas matched a career high with eight receptions for 55 yards in a 16-14 win over the Titans. His reception total was good enough to place him third in the AFC as he quickly built a connection with Jaguars QB Luke McCown. Jacksonville faces the Jets on the road in Week 2.
Analysis: Thomas might have a difficult time duplicating his numbers from the season-opener against the vaunted New York secondary, especially DB Darrelle Revis. The 24-year-old, who was overlooked by Mike Sims-Walker last season, is in his third NFL season but might have a difficult time creating space from Revis. Fantasy owners should consider him a risky option and line him up as No. 4 Fantasy WR for this week's matchup.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas, now the team's top receiving option on the outside, lived up to the status Week 1 against the Titans. He was QB Luke McCown's top-notch target early and often, and he ended up with 11 passes headed his way. Thomas was able to haul in eight passes for 55 yards in the win, with a long of 26 on he afternoon.
Analysis: Thomas never broke free on the day, but he made some big grabs to lead the team to victory. None was bigger than his final catch, a 26-yard grab over the middle on a crucial third-down that helped to run the clock down. Thomas is expected to carry the receiving load for the team all season now that Mike Sims-Walker is out of town, so Fantasy owners can continue to view him as a No. 3 WR heading into Week 2 against the Jets.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas, now the team's top receiving option on the outside, heads into the season opener against the Titans with a new QB throwing him the ball. David Garrard has been released, so Luke McCown is now calling the shots offensively. Thomas' first challenge will be against Cortland Finnegan and the Tennessee secondary, a group that was exposed to a point in 2010. They yielded over 160 yards per game to receivers to go along with 20.88 Fantasy points per game.
Analysis: Thomas hauled in 12 passes for 129 yards in a pair of games against the AFC South rivals last season, but things are different in Jacksonville this year. Maurice Jones-Drew is healthy and defenses will load the box more than usual against the standout RB. The focus on the running attack could open up some down-the-field chances for Thomas and the receiving corps, but Fantasy owners should consider him to be a No. 3 WR or flex option heading into the matchup to see how he adjusts to McCown.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas enters 2011 as the team's top receiver -- a challenge he welcomes with open arms. Its good to know the guys who make decisions -- the Genes (GM Gene Smith), the Coach (Jack) Del Rios, the Coach (Offensive Coordinator Dirk) Koetters -- they have faith in you, Thomas told the team's official website. That makes everything a lot better as opposed to knowing people arent on your side. I believe in myself. I know I can play this game. Ive done it. Ive played it the last two years and been successful with it. I just have to keep improving, and thats what I plan on doing.
Analysis: Even though Mike Sims-Walker was on the roster in 2010, Thomas emerged as the Jaguars' most reliable receiver, totaling 66 catches for 820 yards and four touchdowns. The Jaguars depth chart behind Thomas looks like Jason Hill, Jarrett Dilliard and Cecil Shorts, so the opportunity for many targets is there for the former Arizona standout. Look to Thomas as a No. 3 Fantasy WR on Draft Day.
News: The Jaguars official team website reports that GM Gene Smith is confident in WR Mike Thomas this year. While Thomas has not yet established himself as an elite-level WR in the eyes of most observers, Smith said at times last season he showed signs of doing so. He can emerge, Smith said. I think this past year he showed that when called upon. Thomas caught 48 passes for 453 yards and a touchdown as a rookie, then moved into the starting lineup last season, catching 66 passes for 820 yards and four touchdowns. Mike Thomas emerged last year as one of our go-to guys, Smith said. Mike produced in clutch situations. He's a guy who thrives in situations where he's got to go up and make a contested catch. ... I tell people he's Maurice Jones-Drew playing wide receiver from a receiving standpoint.
Analysis: Thomas should be considered a sleeper on Draft Day, especially if he opens the season as the No. 1 option in Jacksonville. Keep an eye on if Jacksonville signs a WR once free agency starts, but if he's the No. 1 WR for the Jaguars he would be drafting as a No. 3 option with a mid-round pick.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas was not much of a factor in Week 17 against the Texans. Thomas was targeted five times in the contest but finished with just one reception for 12 yards. He also had 20 yards rushing in the contest on two carries, both reverses.
Analysis: Thomas wasn't much of a factor on Sunday, but then again nobody in Jacksoville's passing attack was as Trent Edwards really struggled under center. Still, Thomas has enjoyed much more success in his sophomore season, setting career-highs in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. Usually WRs breakout in their third season in the league, so Thomas could get even better next season. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy WR heading into 2011, who is worth drafting in the middle-to-late rounds.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas, who had six receptions for 96 yards with a touchdown last week against the Redskins, will be looking for another strong effort against in Week 17 against the Texans. However, Thomas will be catching passes from Trent Edwards as David Garrard has been ruled out with finger injury. The Texans enter Sunday's matchup ranked 32nd in pass defense, allowing 277.1 yards per game. Houston has surrendered 32 touchdowns and are allowing an average of 25.9 Fantasy points to opposing WRs on the season.
Analysis: Thomas has been a bit inconsistent this season but seems to have a favorable matchup on Sunday. The Texans have really struggled to defend the pas this season and aren't playing for much in the season finale. Despite Edwards taking snaps under center, look for Jacksonville to exploit the Texans' leaky secondary. Thomas was also the one who came down with the Hail Mary to win the game in the team's first meeting this season. Consider Thomas a No. 2 Fantasy WR on Sunday.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas had a nice game during the overtime loss against Washington in Week 16. Thomas led the way for the Jaguars and caught six passes for 96 yards, both team highs. Quarterback David Garrard targeted him nine times -- tying him with Jason Hill for the team lead -- and Thomas scored a 19-yard touchdown in the second quarter. He also rushed once for 4 yards.
Analysis: Thomas has been hard to predict for the Jaguars this season. He's had several big games but is still clearly the second receiving option for David Garrard behind Mike Sims-Walker. Thomas is an exciting player and he can make the big plays. There should be big plays to go around in the Week 17 regular-season finale in Houston. The Texans give up huge chunks of yardage and Thomas should be considered a solid No. 3 Fantasy play in that game.
News: Jaguars receiver Mike Thomas was limited in the passing game for the fifth-straight week in the Week 15 loss at Indianapolis. Thomas caught three passes for 63 yards in the game and lost a fumble. That said, he also returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. It was the second-longest punt return for a TD in Jaguars' team history and the first time anyone has done it for Jacksonville since 2002. Thomas added one carry for 0 yards.
Analysis: Unfortunately for Fantasy owners, most won't even get credit for his punt return TD. Thomas has made 13 catches in his last four games for a total of 140 yards with no scores. He had scored in three straight games prior to this funk. Jacksonville has been throwing a lot more to running backs of late. Thomas could have a big game in Week 16 against Washington, however. The Redskins have shown improvement of late, but still are not very good at stopping opposing receivers. Consider Thomas a low-end start as a No. 4 Fantasy WR.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas enters Week 15 in Indianapolis having been held without a catch altogether Week 14 against Oakland. Oakland's Nnamdi Asomugha said he would blanket Thomas and that is exactly what he did. That said, Thomas has been targeted by QB David Garrard more times this season than has teammate Mike Sims-Walker. Then again, Sims-Walker has missed time with injury.
Analysis: Thomas scored in three straight games at Dallas and at home against Houston and Cleveland from Week 8 through Week 11. He has just 10 catches for 77 yards and no scores in three games since. He has a solid history against Indianapolis. In two games against the Colts, he has seven catches for 88 yards and a touchdown. He had five grabs for 68 yards Week 4 of this year against them. That said, the Colts are allowing the fifth-fewest average Fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. Instead giving up big yardage to opposing tight ends, the Colts haven't allowed a WR to score since Week 11. We doubt Thomas is going to be in for a big game. Consider him someone to avoid in Week 15.
News: Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha blanketed Jaguars WR Mike Thomas -- just like he said he would. Thomas was held without a catch other than when he seemingly caught a David Garrard pass but had it stripped away and picked off in the air by the Raiders. The play was ruled an interception, not a fumble. Thomas was targeted three times in the game by Garrard and tried to run but got stopped for a loss of 8 yards.
Analysis: Thomas was a risky starting option outside of deeper PPR leagues to begin with, but with his production dipping for another week, owners should consider other options. After all, David Garrard isn't throwing nearly as much as we'd like, which means Thomas' opportunities are limited. Feel comfortable benching or releasing him in Fantasy play ahead of Week 15 when he plays at Indy.
News: The last two weeks haven't been kind to Jaguars WR Mike Thomas. Against the Giants and Titans he totaled 10 receptions for 77 yards with no touchdowns. This two-game skid follows a three-game streak where Thomas scored in every contest (including that Hail Mary catch). This week he'll try to get back on track against a Raiders defense that's given up a dozen touchdowns to wide receivers on the season including five in their last four games.
Analysis: Thomas isn't an ideal option unless it's in a PPR league because he has the potential to rack up a bunch of catches. Then again, the Jaguars have been running the ball very well lately and might not pass more than 25 or 30 times on Sunday. It helps that he's scored in his last two at home, though he hasn't played at home since coming down with the Hail Mary vs. Houston in Week 10. If you can, check out other options before going with Thomas in Week 14.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas caught a team-high four passes for just 31 yards in a Week 13 win over the Titans as Jacksonville relied heavily on the run Sunday.
Analysis: Thomas failed to catch just one of his targets on Sunday, and you can't really blame him or QB David Garrard, who completed 73.7 percent of his paltry 19 passes. Apart from his Week 11 touchdown, Thomas has not been much of a factor over the last three weeks and will remain just an option in deeper leagues heading into Week 14 vs. Oakland.
News: The Jaguars visit the Titans in Week 13, and Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas will be looking to put up solid stats against Tennessee for the second time this season. In Week 6, he matched a season high with eight catches for 88 yards. Tennessee ranks as the seventh-toughest defense against Fantasy wide receivers, allowing just an average of 19.1 Fantasy points a game to WR corps.
Analysis: Thomas saw his three-game touchdown streak come to an end in Week 12, but he could start a new one on Sunday against a Titans team that has given up a touchdown to a wide receiver in each of the last two games. With 19 catches in his last three games, Thomas should see plenty of targets on Sunday and is certainly worth using in the majority of Fantasy leagues as a No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 13.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas finished with a team-high six catches for 46 yards in Week 12 against the Giants. His longest catch went 14 yards and he was targeted nine times, which was just one behind receiver Mike Sims-Walker's team-high 10 targets. Unfortunately, Thomas didn't score for the first time in four games.
Analysis: Thomas has just 82 receiving yards in his last two games after a breakout 149-yard performance in Week 10 against Houston. It seems teams are starting to pay him a little more respect as he continues to add onto his career highs in 2010. He now has a career-high 52 catches after his six-catch performance Week 12. Consider Thomas a low-end Fantasy start for Week 13, when Jacksonville travels to Tennessee. Thomas did have eight catches for 88 yards in Week 6 against Tennessee.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas aims for a fourth consecutive game with a receiving touchdown in Week 12 against the Giants. The Jaguars will need Thomas to step up with Mike Sims-Walker likely sidelined a second straight game with an ankle injury. The Giants are allowing opposing WRs to average 19.6 Fantasy points per week. However, the Giants have allowed WRs to total 11 receiving touchdowns this season and two receivers -- Dez Bryant and Jeremy Maclin -- have surpassed 100 yards against New York the last two weeks.
Analysis: Thomas broke 100 yards for the first time this season thanks to a Hail Mary in Week 10. He followed that up with only 36 yards in Week 11 against the Browns, but at least he broke into the end zone. With MSW hurting, Thomas is the Jags' best receiver. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 12.
News: With Mike Sims-Walker (ankle) inactive for Week 11, wide receiver Mike Thomas saw an increase in targets for the shorthanded Jaguars and took advantage. Thomas was targeted a game-high 10 times by quarterback David Garrard, finishing with five receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown. Thomas, who also returned four punts for 33 yards, scored a touchdown for the third consecutive week.
Analysis: If Sims-Walker is healthy enough to play in Week 12, it will be interesting to see how the Jaguars spread the ball around. Thomas now has 46 receptions for the season and tight end Marcedes Lewis is one of the most sure-handed players at his position. If Thomas continues to see a high number of targets, he will solidify his role as a No. 3 or flex Fantasy option with even more value in PPR leagues. Keep in mind the Giants, Jacksonville's opponent in Week 12, possessed one of the best defenses in the NFL against the pass.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Sims-Walker was declared inactive just prior to the team's Week 11 game against Cleveland. His absence could open things up for WR Mike Thomas.
Analysis: Thomas, Kassim Osgood and the team's duo of tight ends could each see a few more looks come there way. However, we would not recommend Thomas as anything more than emergency option for the deepest of leagues. Even then, think twice.
News: With Jaguars receiver Mike Sims-Walker officially listed as doubtful for Week 11 against the Browns, leading wideout Mike Thomas could be in line for more targets this week. Thomas, the hero in Week 10 after catching a Hail Mary pass from quarterback David Garrard for a touchdown, finished with 149 yards on eight receptions, both season highs. He has also notched a score in two straight games after not reaching the end zone in Jacksonvilles first seven games of the season.
Analysis: The possible loss of Sims-Walker for Week 11 could generate a nice boost for Thomas, who actually leads the Jaguars in both receptions (41) and receiving yards (536). In Week 10 against Houstons poor pass defense, Thomas saw nine targets and he should come close to matching or surpassing that amount against Cleveland. The Browns have been generous to wide receivers this season, allowing an average of 24.7 Fantasy points a game and 12 total touchdowns, tied for third-most in the NFL. With the combination of his better play lately and Sims-Walker possibly sitting, consider Thomas a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR with upside.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas capped a career day in Week 10 against the Texans with the game-winning score in a 31-24 victory. On the last play of the game in a 24-all contest, QB David Garrard let the ball fly down the left sideline for Mike Sims-Walker, who was in heavy coverage. Garrard overthrew Sims-Walker in the end zone, but Glover Quin, who had a career-high 13 tackles, was there to bat the ball down. Unfortunately, he hit it right to Thomas at the 1-yard line. Thomas caught it and ran into the end zone for the game-winning score. "It was definitely a surprise," Thomas said. "You don't expect that kind of play to go the way it's supposed to go. I was shocked and a little stunned." Officially, it was a 50-yard score on the Hail Mary pass. Thomas finished with eight catches for 149 yards. He had two carries for 18 yards.
Analysis: Thomas now has a touchdown in two straight games and is developing into a secondary receiving option for Garrard, whose top target is Sims-Walker. Clearly, the last play of the game wasn't intended for Thomas, but he still had a heck of a game before that catch. Fantasy owners should probably start paying a little bit more attention to Thomas, but he is still nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 11 against the Browns.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas aims for his second touchdown of the season in Week 10 against the Texans. Thomas finally broke his scoring drought in Week 8 against the Cowboys on the heels of a career day from QB David Garrard. The Texans have the worst pass defense in the NFL, allowing 298.2 yards per game. They have also given up a league-high 20 passing touchdowns, with 12 going to wide receivers.
Analysis: The Jaguars haven't had an overly impressive passing game in 2010, ranking 28th in pass offense (181.4 ypg). Thomas is the team's second-leading receiver behind Mike Sims-Walker with 387 yards. Thomas is just in his second NFL season, but he has showed some flashes of potential. If Garrard ever gets consistent in the passing game, then it could benefit Thomas. He does have a favorable matchup in Week 10, so consider starting him as potentially a No. 3 Fantasy WR for flex option.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas was the beneficiary of a career game for QB David Garrard Week 8 in a blowout win over the Cowboys in Dallas. With Garrard throwing for a career-high four touchdowns, he hit Thomas for a 15-yard catch-and-run score in the third quarter to put the Jaguars up 21-3. Thomas finished the game with four catches for 41 yards and the score and caught the ball all four times he was targeted by Garrard. Thomas also rushed once for 9 yards on a reverse.
Analysis: Thomas had a nightmare game Week 7 in Kansas City with no catches and a fumble in that game. He came back in a big way in the Week 8 game for the touchdown, which was a pretty impressive catch-and-run play. Thomas has been fairly solid all year but the touchdown Week 8 was his first of the season and he's yet to top eight catches or 89 yards in any game. He is a middle-of-the-road option in Fantasy and it is hard to predict when he's going to play well. Thomas can be sat in all formats for Week 9, however, as the Jaguars are on a bye. They return Week 10 against Houston and Thomas might be a solid low-end start against that porous secondary.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas might want to play well in the Week 8 game at Dallas. That is because Thomas is a native Texan. He was born in DeSoto, Texas, and will have plenty of friends in the stands against the Cowboys. Thomas, however, did not make a catch in Week 7 at Kansas City and then fumbled on a punt return. He has not topped 89 yards receiving at any point this season and has not scored a touchdown. Thomas will get starting QB David Garrard back in Week 8 after Todd Bouman started against the Chiefs.
Analysis: We're not sure what motivation playing in his home state will bring Thomas. The good news is that the Cowboys have been allowing decent Fantasy numbers to opposing receivers this season. Just last week, both Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith of the Giants went over 100 yards against the Cowboys and combined for three touchdowns. The Cowboys can be thrown upon but Thomas has not been reliable this season. Start him on a whim if you like but we can't recommend him as anything more than a flex option against the Cowboys.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas had a rough game Sunday in Week 7 at Kansas City. Thomas had no catches on one target, and he fumbled on a punt return in the first quarter. Thomas came into the game with at least seven Fantasy points in his past three games against Indianapolis, Buffalo and Tennessee.
Analysis: Thomas also had a new QB in this game with Todd Bouman replacing the injured David Garrard (concussion), which could have contributed to his poor game. We expect Thomas to play better in Week 8 at Dallas, but it was disappointing to see him disappear after his recent quality outings. Plan on using Thomas as a No. 4 Fantasy WR at best against the Cowboys.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas enters his Week 7 matchup at Kansas City with a potential new QB if David Garrard (concussion) and Trent Edwards (thumb) are out. That would leave Todd Bouman as the potential starter against the Chiefs, which could be a difficult matchup since Kansas City has allowed just six passing touchdowns on the season. Thomas has played well recently with at least seven Fantasy points in his past three games against Indianapolis, Buffalo and Tennessee, but he could struggle with the change at QB.
Analysis: Thomas had his best game of the season against the Titans in Week 6 with eight receptions for 88 yards, and he was targeted a team-high nine times. He's worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy WR in deeper leagues, but the uncertainty at QB and the difficult matchup make him a risky starter in standard leagues. Along with that, Thomas is still looking for his first touchdown of the season.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas was Jacksonville's leading receiver in Week 6 against the Titans. Thomas was targeted a team-high nine times and finished with a season-high eight receptions for 88 yards in the 30-3 loss. He averaged 11 yards per reception and had a long of 21 yards.
Analysis: Thomas has been somewhat productive so far this season, recording at least 50 yards receiving in his last three games. However, he has yet to score a touchdown and Monday night could be as good as it gets for Thomas with Jacksonville's very limited passing attack. Thomas might also be without starter David Garrard in Week 7, who suffered a concussion in the loss. Although that might not be such a bad thing, as Trent Edwards looked in Thomas' direction quiet often on Monday. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy WR heading into Week 7.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas, who totaled 104 yards in Week 5 against the Bills, is hoping to find the end zone for the first time this season in Week 6 against the Titans. Thomas has been targeted a team-high 32 times over the first five games of the season and has 21 receptions for 258 yards, but has yet to find the end zone. The Titans are rankled 27th in pass defense and have allowed an average of 21.60 Fantasy points to opposing WRs so far this season.
Analysis: Thomas has at least four receptions in four of the five games Jacksonville has played this season and has at least 50 yards receiving in three of those contents. While the Jaguars' passing attack is pedestrian at best, you have to figure with all the targets Thomas has been seeing he is due to find the end zone eventually. Consider him a high-end No. 4 Fantasy WR heading into Week 6.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas caught four passes in Week 5 at Buffalo, tying him for the team lead in that category. He totaled 51 yards. Thomas also carried the ball three times for 53 yards, including a 33-yard scamper. He also lost a fumble in the game.
Analysis: Thomas has been moderately productive in his first five games. He has at least four grabs in four of those contests with 50-plus yards in three of them. He has yet to score a touchdown, but has established himself as enough of a target to consider using as an emergency option as an injury or bye-week replacement. Just understand that the Jaguars pass offense is a very pedestrian one and there isn't much upside for big numbers here. The Jaguars host the Titans in Week 6.
News: While Mike Sims-Walker gets most of the notoriety as the top receiving option for the Jaguars, it has been Mike Thomas who quarterback David Garrard has looked too more often this season. Thomas has been targeted 28 times in four games and has caught 17 passes for 207 yards without a touchdown. Thomas could be Garrard's top option for Week 5 in Buffalo.
Analysis: The Bills have not been great against opposing wide receivers and have given up five touchdowns in the last three weeks to the position. That said, the Bills have yet to allow a receiver to rack up triple digits in yards. Thomas has been good, but he hasn't been good enough to top 100 yards yet and the Jaguars' passing offense has been dismal. Unless you think he has a touchdown in his future, Thomas, the best WR on the Jaguars for Week 5, is just a No. 4 or flex option for the game.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas was targeted a team-high seven times and five receptions in Sunday's Week 4 win over Indianapolis. Thomas finished with 68 yards receiving and now leads the team with 207 yards on the year. He also leads the team with 17 catches. He also had one run for 19 yards.
Analysis: Thomas is emerging as David Garrard's favorite target this year and continues to get a lot of looks. He still has not scored a touchdown this year, which severely limits his Fantasy value. The Jaguars offense is still working out a lot of kinks, so despite being the leading receiver on the team, Thomas is not a recommended start for Fantasy owners. Thomas and the Jags face the Bills in Week 5, a team that allowed just 161 yards through the air in Week 4. While it looks like a favorable matchup, Thomas will be a risky play, but is worth keeping an eye on if he continues to get the majority of looks.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas is tied with Mike Sims-Walker for the most receptions (12) and receiving yards (139) on the team. With the Jaguars offense sputtering and their quarterback, David Garrard under fire to produce, it is not an easy task heading into Week 4 against the Colts. The second-year receiver played in just one meeting with Indy in 2009, catching two passes for 20 yards, but did record a touchdown. The Colts defense gave up 467 yards through the air in Week 3 against Denver, which is more yards than Garrard has this season -- 448.
Analysis: Thomas has started each game this year and also seen his production decrease with each week. Hopefully he doesn't get lower than his two catch for 7 yard performance in Week 3. With no touchdowns this season and playing for a bad offense, Thomas is not a recommended start for Fantasy owners in Week 4.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas saw some passes thrown his way in Week 3 against the Eagles but did not put up many stats. He was targeted six times by QB David Garrard, good for second on the team, but caught just two passes for 7 yards in the 28-3 loss. Thomas also returned five punts on Sunday for 62 yards with a long of 41.
Analysis: Thomas had fairly productive games in the first two weeks of the season but was hindered as the entire Jacksonville offense could not get anything going against the Eagles in Week 3. He starts opposite of WR Mike Sims-Walker but Garrard has to start playing better for Thomas to get his stats up. He has 12 catches for 139 yards on the year and could see some better success against the Colts in Week 4. Indianapolis gave up 467 yards and one touchdown through the air on Sunday and Thomas has two catches for 20 yards in one career game against the Colts. Still, Fantasy owners should olny consider Thomas as a sleeper heading into Week 4.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas and the rest of the offense should look to bounce back in Week 3 against the Eagles after their loss to the Chargers in Week 2. Through two weeks, Thomas leads the team in targets with 15, one ahead of the Jags top WR coming into the season, Mike Sims-Walker. Thomas also leads the Jags in yards (132) and is tied with Sims-Walker for the lead in receptions with 10. Philadelphia has allowed four passing touchdowns in the first two games, three to WRs.
Analysis: Thomas is still settling in as the No. 2 option at WR for the Jags, who do rely on the run via RB Maurice Jones-Drew to establish the offense. When the Jags do pass, it is distributed closely between Thomas, Sims-Walker and TE Mercedes Lewis (all three have been targeted between 11 and 15 times). Starting Thomas at any position seems to be a risk because the offense relies on the run so much, even against an Eagles defense that is not what it used to be. Consider Thomas a sleeper Fantasy WR in deeper leagues for Week 3.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas was targeted eight times, but caught just four passes for 43 yards in the Jaguars' Week 2 loss to the Chargers. After totaling 89 yards on six catches in Week 1, Thomas saw his production slip. It wasn't for lack of action as he had the third most targets on the team behind Mike Sims-Walker and Marcedes Lewis.
Analysis: Thomas and the Jaguars head home next week to face the Eagles. Philly let Shaun Hill and the Lions throw for 355 yards on them in Week 2. If Jacksonville can have that kind of success in Week 3, Thomas may see himself being a factor again. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor Thomas as he develops into Jacksonville's No. 2 receiver. Consider him a low-end flex option going up against the Eagles.
News: Looking for a receiving threat to pair with WR Mike Sims-Walker, the Jaguars might have found their guy in Mike Thomas, who totaled six catches for 89 yards in Week 1 against the Broncos. Thomas looks to keep that momentum going into Week 2 as Jacksonville treks across the country to San Diego. Although, Thomas, who has 27 catches for 323 yards in seven road games in his career, will have a tough task in Week 2. The Chargers allowed just four catches for 36 yards to Chiefs receivers in Week 1.
Analysis: The Chargers were aided in Week 1 by the weather, but make no mistake, Quentin Jammer, Eric Weddle and Antoine Cason are all capable defensive backs. Thomas is going to have to earn his yards in Week 2. The Chargers were one of the best teams guarding receivers in 2009, only allowing 12 touchdowns and 134.1 yards per game to wideouts. Thomas is an intriguing player, but he remains a low-end Fantasy start heading into Week 2 because we need to see some consistency out of him before he becomes a regular option.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas isn't supposed to be the No. 1 option in Jacksonville, but he certainly looked like it on Sunday as he caught six passes for 89 yards in a win over the Broncos while usual top target Mike Sims-Walker was held without a catch. Thomas was targeted seven times to Sims-Walker's two.
Analysis: Thomas looked like a nice potential sleeper coming into Week 1, and he proved that to be a correct suspicion. Champ Bailey shut down Sims-Walker, and Thomas made the most of his extra space in the secondary. While he won't see situations like this every week, Thomas will be worth adding in deeper formats heading into Week 2 at San Diego as a potential bye-week replacement option.
News: The Jaguars host the Broncos in Week 1, and Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas could be a potential sleeper in very deep leagues as No. 1 option Mike Sims-Walker will be covered by shutdown DB Champ Bailey, which could leave Thomas as one of QB David Garrard's better options in the passing game. Denver did rank a tough third vs. the pass last season, though.
Analysis: Thomas, a fourth-round pick last year, didn't do much in his rookie season, but the fact he had 13 catches for 122 yards over his final two games might bode well for his breakout chances in 2010. While he probably shouldn't be trusted in Fantasy play during Week 1, keep a close eye on how many times Garrard targets Thomas on Sunday afternoon, as there is potential here.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas was targeted often during Saturday's win over the Buccaneers. He started opposite of Mike Sims-Walker, and had eight passes thrown his way by QB David Garrard, catching five for 30 yards. He also rushed for 18 yards on an end around.
Analysis: Thomas has become a favorite target of Garrard's during training camp, and with opposing defenses likely to give Sims-Walker plenty of attention this season, Thomas should continue to see his fair share of balls. While we don't expect him to put up big numbers in Jacksonville's mediocre passing offense, Thomas could be a nice sleeper in deeper PPR leagues.
News: Could Mike Thomas be the Jaguars' latest receiver to blossom? If quarterback David Garrard had a vote, he'd say yes. Garrard told the Florida Times-Union that Thomas is rapidly becoming one of his favorite targets. The paper notes that he was a frequent pass catcher during their scrimmages with the Falcons on Monday. "I told him during one of the periods that if he keeps making those plays I'm going to keep throwing the ball to him," Garrard said. "That's the truth. We are looking for someone to separate and really take that two spot. He's kind of doing it."
Analysis: Thomas should be a solid starter for the Jaguars, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a key component for Fantasy owners. He had 48 catches last year but only made it count for 453 yards and one score. If you're in a deep PPR league, Thomas is worth targeting late. Otherwise, expect him to be available off waivers during the season.
News: The official team website for the Jaguars reports that Mike Thomas and Jarett Dillard will be the No. 2 and 3 receivers, respectively, in Jacksonville this season behind No. 1 option Mike Sims-Walker. Tiquan Underwood is battling Troy Williamson for the No. 4 spot. "Mike Thomas and Jarett Dillard are probably two and three right now," coach Jack Del Rio said in evaluating the pecking order of his wide receivers at the end of OTA workouts. "That fourth receiver, the speed receiver, is the spot that's wide open right now. Tiquan has come on."
Analysis: If Thomas is able to hold onto the No. 2 spot as expected and start for the Jaguars this year opposite Sims-Walker then he could be considered a sleeper in deep leagues. Keep an eye on Thomas during training camp, but he could be worth a late-round pick in larger formats.
News: Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter said in an interview with the team's official website that he's confident in WR Mike Sims-Walker. It's the rest of Jacksonville's receivers that Koetter doesn't know how to rank. "In my opinion, Mike Walker, when healthy, can be a No. 1 receiver," Koetter said. "We know Mike Thomas has a chance to be, at the least, a very good slot receiver. We have to find out if Mike can do more than that. Our big question is who's the two right now? Mike and J.D. (Jarett Dillard), are they the No. 2?"
Analysis: Thomas has potential to start for the Jaguars in 2010, and Dillard could be considered a sleeper depending on what the team does with his role. Thomas is worth a late-round pick in deeper leagues, and Dillard still has something to prove to Fantasy owners before he's worth using. He should not be drafted in 2010, but he is worth monitoring to see if he should be added off the waiver wire.
News: Jaguars QB David Garrard said in an interview with CBSSports.com that he likes the potential of young receivers Mike Thomas and Jarret Dillard and TE Zach Miller, who were all rookies in 2009. Thomas finished the season with 48 catches for 453 yards and one touchdown. Dillard, who only played in seven games before going on injured reserve (ankle), had six catches for 106 yards. And Miller had 21 catches for 212 yards and two touchdowns and came on at the end of the season when Marcedes Lewis was limited with a head injury. "Those three guys are pretty good," Garrard said. "You see so much potential in those guys and a lot of glimpses of what they can really do. They can really be dynamic for us offensively. We have to continue to work this offseason and continue to grow with each other. They're all still new and still young, and they're still new to me. We're trying to be an explosive offense. If we can continue to grow with each other then we can do great things."
Analysis: Thomas and Miller have potential to start for the Jaguars in 2010, and Miller should be considered a sleeper depending on what the team does with Lewis. Thomas is worth a late-round pick in deeper leagues, and Dillard still has something to prove to Fantasy owners before he's worth using. He should not be drafted in 2010, but he is worth monitoring to see if he should be added off the waiver wire.
News: Jaguars rookie WR Mike Thomas finished the season Sunday at Cleveland with seven catches for 65 yards. Thomas had increased playing time with Torry Holt (finger) out.
Analysis: Thomas should improve heading into his second season in 2010, but he still has minimal Fantasy value. Don't plan on drafting him in the majority of leagues next season.
News: Jaguars rookie WR Mike Thomas led the team in receiving Sunday with six catches for 57 yards.
Analysis: Thomas continues to have inconsistent performances each week, and he's a low-end Fantasy WR. Don't plan on using him despite a favorable matchup in Week 17 at Cleveland.
News: Jaguars rookie WR Mike Thomas had two catches for 20 yards Week 15 against the Colts and scored the first touchdown of his career on a 13-yard pass from QB David Garrard in the third quarter.
Analysis: Thomas usually doesn't deliver more than one or two grabs per game. He doesn't play a big enough role to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 16 at New England.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas was held to one 5-yard catch in a Week 14 loss to Miami.
Analysis: Thomas is an inconsistent backup WR who has pretty much zero Fantasy value heading into Week 15 vs. Indianapolis.
News: The Jaguars have listed WR Mike Sims-Walker as doubtful for Week 14 vs. the Dolphins with a calf injury that kept him out of practice on Thursday and Friday. Mike Thomas is expected to start in his place, though he strained his hamstring on Friday. He's listed as probable. "All you can do is play your next guys [on the depth chart]," head coach Jack Del Rio said. "We need everybody and we expect every guy that gets an opportunity to play to step up. It's a big game."
Analysis: Thomas isn't expected to be a reliable Fantasy option for Week 14. Consider other options.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas had two carries for 4 yards and three catches for 21 yards Sunday against Houston.
Analysis: Thomas is a low-end Fantasy WR in all leagues. Don't plan on using him in Week 14 against Miami.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas was the teams leading receiver on Sunday in a Week 12 loss to the 49ers. Thomas got four receptions in the game, gaining a total of 62 yards. His longest catch in the game went for 25 yards.
Analysis: Thomas still has not scored this season but this was his best yardage total so far. He is not one of the more-featured receivers in the Jaguars passing attack and is still just a low-end Fantasy option for Week 13 against the Texans. In Week 3 at Houston, Thomas had just one catch for 10 yards.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas rushed one time for 12 yards in the Week 11 win over Buffalo. Thomas added two catches in the game but went for a total of 3 yards.
Analysis: Thomas has yet to find the end zone this season or finish above 55 receiving yards. He is just a low-end Fantasy option in Week 12, even in San Francisco against a porous pass defense.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas made a team-high four catches for 46 yards in a Week 10 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Thomas has a couple of 50-yard receiving games this season, but has very minimal Fantasy value heading into Week 11 vs. Buffalo.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas caught just one pass in Week 9 against Kansas City for a loss of 2 yards. He also rushed once for 18 yards.
Analysis: Thomas was thrown to just the one time in the game and despite a solid performance in his last game is still too erratic to rely on in Fantasy. Leave him reserved until further notice.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas totaled a team-high four catches for 55 yards during a Week 8 loss to the Titans. He was targeted six times and had a long reception of 25 yards. He also had one carry for 7 yards. Thomas has 18 catches for 176 yards on the season, with all coming in the last five games.
Analysis: The rookie from Arizona is starting to become a regular in the Jaguars' passing game. However, he still isn't breaking free for big gains and his numbers are quite modest for Fantasy purposes. Thomas has little to no Fantasy value heading into Week 9 against the Chiefs.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas had a surprisingly solid game in Week 6 against the Rams. He made seven catches in the game for a total of 52 yards. His longest reception went for 17 yards.
Analysis: Thomas doubled his total number of receptions on the season in Week 6, nearly doubling his total yards as well. He is not one of the featured targets in the Jags offense but could be worth taking a look at in the deepest of formats.
News: Jaguars RB Greg Jones (knee) and rookie WR Mike Thomas (ribs) are probable for Week 6 vs. the Rams. Both should see a decent amount of playing time.
Analysis: Neither player is worth starting in Fantasy play since stats are hard for them to come by. Consider other options in spite of the matchup.
News: Jacksonsville WR Mike Thomas got a chance to start Week 5 at Seattle as Mike Sims-Walker was held out of the game after a violation of team rules. However, Thomas made only one catch in the game for 28 yards as the Jags were blown out 41-0.
Analysis: Thomas will go back to coming off the bench Week 6 against the Rams as long as Sims-Walker isn't held out another game. Thomas did little with this starting chance and remains a low-end Fantasy option for Week 6.
News: Jaguars WR Mike Thomas caught five passes for 31 yards and ran three times for nine yards in a Week 4 win over the Titans.
Analysis: Thomas is a versatile offensive option for the Jaguars but is basically the third WR behind Mike Sims-Walker and Torry Holt. Continue to ignore him in all Fantasy formats heading into Week 5 at Seattle.
News: Jacksonville WR Mike Thomas played a relatively large role in the team's Week 3 win over the Texas. Thomas carried the ball twice for a total of 35 yards with a long of 22 yards. He also made one catch in the game for 10 yards.
Analysis: Thomas was inactive the first two weeks of the season, so getting any Fantasy points is an accomplishment for him. Unless Thomas becomes a more-featured part of the offense, he will have no Fantasy value.
News: The Florida Times-Union reports the Jaguars are thin at WR after Troy Williamson was lost for the season with a torn labrum and Nate Hughes was waived. It now means that rookies Mike Thomas and Jarett Dillard, who were both inactive the first two games, will likely make their debuts against the Texans on Sunday. They'll join Torry Holt and Mike Sims-Walker as the team's four wide receivers. Another rookie who could make his debut is TE Zach Miller, who has been sidelined since the first preseason game at Miami, when he broke a bone in the back of his kneecap. Because Miller is ready to resume practicing, the Jaguars cut Greg Estandia.
Analysis: As we told you with Williamson, it's safe to release him in all leagues. The same goes for Hughes and Estandia since they are without jobs. Keep an eye on the progress for Thomas, Dillard and Miller, but they have minimal Fantasy value heading into Week 3 at Houston.
News: The following Jacksonville players are inactive for Week 2 at home against the Arizona Cardinals: KR/CB Brian Witherspoon, WR Mike Thomas, TE Zach Miller, WR Jarrett Dillard, DE Jeremy Navarre and DT Montavious Stanley.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value, so continue to ignore them in all Fantasy formats.
News: The Jaguars have announced the inactives for their Week 1 game at Indianapolia: LB Adam Seward, WR Mike Thomas, TE Zach Miller (knee), WR Jarett Dillard and DL Julius Williams.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value, so continue to ignore them in all Fantasy formats.
News: The Jaguars have signed rookie WR Mike Thomas to a contract. Thomas, 22, was the club's fourth-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the 107th pick overall. Thomas, 5-foot-8, 198-pounds was one of three receivers selected by the Jaguars in 2009. He was a four-year starter at Arizona as a receiver and return specialist and finished as the Pac-10's all-time leader in receptions with 259. He ranked third in school history with 3,231 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns.
Analysis: Thomas led Arizona to its first bowl appearance in nine seasons in 2008. He finished with 74 receptions for 825 yards and four touchdowns and scored touchdowns three different ways (4 receiving, 2 punt returns, 1 kick return). Consider Thomas with a mid-round pick in rookie-only drafts, but ignore him in most standard leagues coming into the year.
News: The Jaguars drafted WR Mike Thomas from Arizona in the fourth round of the NFL Draft at pick No. 107 overall. Thomas closed out his career for the Wildcats setting the school and Pac-10 Conference all-time record with 259 receptions. His 3,231 receiving yards placed eighth in league history and third on the Arizona record books, as his 23 touchdown grabs tied for third in Wildcats history. He amassed 4,891 yards, the fourth-best career total at Arizona.
Analysis: The Jaguars have a need for a WR to pair with Torry Holt and Dennis Northcutt, so Thomas could play right away. Still, he's not worth drafting in standard leagues and would only be a late-round flier in rookie-only formats.
