by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11/3/2013) Browns nickel cornerback Chris Owens has not been a huge factor in the success of the defense this season, but he was certainly a major contributor to the win over Baltimore on Sunday.

Owens filled the stat sheet with eight tackles, one sack, one TFL, two passes defensed and a quarterback hit.

The others are probable. They include defensive end Desmond Bryant (thumb), running backs Willis McGahee (ankle) and Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs), cornerback Chris Owens (finger) and linebacker Jabaal Sheard (wrist).

(10/27/2013) The  Browns defense is in pretty good shape as far as injuries go for Week 8 against the Chiefs Sunday. Of six players listed on the injury report, only defensive lineman Billy Winn (quadriceps) and linebacker Quentin Groves (ankle) are inactive.

Defensive back Chris Owens (finger), defensive lineman Armonty Bryant (shoulder) and linebackers Tank Carder (neck) and Brandon Magee (oblique) were all able to play through their injuries.

Probables dominate Browns injury report for Friday

No key player aside from Billy Winn, a possible starter at defensive end, has been designated as worse than probable. by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/24/2013) The third preseason game is considered a dress rehearsal for the regular season, but it won't be for several Browns starters, reports the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram. Among those ruled out for the game Saturday night in Indianapolis are outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard (knee), wide receiver Davone Bess (knee), placekicker Brandon Bogotay (groin), cornerback Chris Owens (foot) and defensive end Desmond Bryant (back).

Rookie outside linebacker and first-round pick Barkevious Mingo is also out with what has been diagnosed as a bruised lung. It is feared he could miss months.

Buster Skrine could win cornerback spot by default

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/24/2013) The continued absence of Chris Owens (foot) gives Buster Skrine a leg up on the Browns' starting cornerback job alongside Joe Haden. Owens will miss his second straight preseason game Saturday night in Indianapolis.

The 5-foot-9 Skrine struggled mightily on the outside last year. He was flagged often for pass interference and gave up several big plays, but his coaches and teammates praised him for his plucky style and he has performed better in this preseason.
