Torn pectoral muscle knocks Bears G Matt Slauson out for season

(10/27/2014) Bears general manager Phil Emery told reporters that guard Matt Slauson tore his right pectoral muscle and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, per the team's official website. Slauson will not require surgery and should be fully recovered by the start of next season, according to the Chicago Tribune

Slauson is dealing with a pectoral injury. He was ruled out almost immediately due to the issue.

Jared Allen, Lance Briggs, Chris Conte and D.J. Williams should all be able to go during the contest. Allen missed last week's game due to an illness. Offensive lineman Matt Slauson is considered questionable coming into the game.

(9/26/2014) Defensive end Jared Allen (illness) is the headliner among the defensive questionables for the Bears on Friday for their Sunday game against Green Bay. Also receiving that designation are safety Chris Conte (shoulder) and wideout Brandon Marshall (ankle).

Five Bears have been ruled out. They are offensive linemen Matt Slauson (ankle) and Roberto Garza (ankle), linebacker Shea McClellin (hand), cornerback Sherrick McManis (quad) and nose tackle Jeremiah Ratliff (concussion).

Free safety Ryan Mundy (shoulder) and defensive end Trevor Scott (foot) are probable.

(9/20/2014) Five injured Bears players will miss Monday's game against the Jets, according to the team's final injury report Saturday: linebacker Shea McClellin (hand), defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff (concussion), cornerback Sherrick McManis (quad) and offensive linemen Matt Slauson (ankle) and Roberto Garza (ankle).

In addition, defensive end Trevor Scott (foot) has been listed as doubtful. On the positive side, defensive end Jared Allen (back), safety Chris Conte (shoulder) and wide receiver Josh Morgan (groin) are listed as probable to play Monday.

Offensive linemen Roberto Garza and Matt Slauson will not go against San Francisco. Fullback Tony Fiammetta will also be sidelined. All three players missed the entire week of practice due to their injuries. 


Bears could lose two along the offensive line

(9/8/2014) The Bears could be without two starting offensive linemen for the next few weeks, as Roberto Garza and Matt Slauson both suffered high-ankle sprains in Sunday's loss to the Bills.

According to the Chicago Tribune, both players could be out for a at least a couple of a weeks as a result of their injuries. That could leave Jay Cutler vulnerable while the team is forced to start reserves along the line.

Slauson was able to walk off the field under his own power after suffering the injury, and he could be spotted limping around the sideline testing the ankle. He was replaced by Michael Ola.


Bears sign Matt Slauson to four-year deal

(1/2/2014) The Bears have signed offensive lineman Matt Slauson to a four-year deal.

The deal likely won't be finalized until Monday, but general manager Phil Emery announced the contract at a press conference Thursday. Slauson played a key role in the turnaround of the team's offensive line. Chicago was one of the few teams to start the same five lineman all season, though Jordan Mills got hurt in the team's final game.
