News: The Raiders signed former Falcons defensive lineman Vance Walker to a free-agent contract Monday. Walker is expected to serve as a run specialist, after appearing in 58 games with the Falcons over four seasons.
Analysis: Walker recorded a career-high in sacks last season, however he still got to the quarterback just three times. He had 32 tackles and appeared to play more of a consistent role than in year's past. Walker could help shore up the Raiders' defense, but he is unlikely to be worth targeting in Fantasy IDP formats.
News: The Falcons' Vance Walker, a reserve defensive lineman, recorded a sack -- his third of the season -- Week 14 at Carolina. He also had two tackles, both solo.
Analysis: Three sacks isn't a bad total for Walker considering his minimal role, but this latest one was his first since Week 4 -- also against the Panthers. You can leave him on waivers in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: The Falcons' list of inactives for Week 7 at Dallas includes DB William Moore, RB Ovie Mughelli, DB Antoine Harris, DL Vance Walker and QB John Parker Wilson.
Analysis: None of these players ever contributes enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The Falcons list the following players as inactive for Sunday night against Chicago: John Parker Wilson (3rd QB), CB Tye Hill, FB Ovie Mughelli, S Antoine Harris, LB Spencer Adkins and DT Vance Walker.
Analysis: None of these players contributes enough statistically to matter in Fantasy even when active. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The Falcons' list of inactives for Week 5 at San Francisco includes DB Tye Hill, RB Verron Haynes, DB Antoine Harris, LB Spencer Adkins, QB John Parker Wilson and DL Vance Walker.
Analysis: None of these players contributes enough statistically to matter in Fantasy even when active. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The Falcons announced the following players are inactive for Week 3 at New England: QB John Parker Wilson, CB Tye Hill, S William Moore, RB Jerious Norwood, LB Spencer Adkins and DT Vance Walker.
Analysis: Norwood is the only Fantasy-viable player in this group, but was very questionable coming in with a head injury. Be sure to bench him in all formats and continue to ignore the other guys.
News: Quarterback D.J. Shockley, Atlanta's seventh-round draft pick in 2006, defensive tackle Vance Walker, a seventh-round draft pick this year, are among eight players signed to the Falcons' practice squad. The Falcons cut Shockley, the former Georgia quarterback, and Walker, who played at Georgia Tech, on Saturday. Also selected to the practice squad on Sunday were offensive linemen Jose Valdez and Michael Butterworth, linebacker Robert James, receiver Troy Bergeron and cornerback Glenn Sharpe. Rookie John Parker Wilson of Alabama is left as the No. 3 quarterback behind Matt Ryan and Chris Redman.
Analysis: None of these players are worth owning in Fantasy.
News: The Atlanta Falcons have signed cornerback William Middleton, their fifth-round draft pick, and defensive tackle Vance Walker, their seventh-round selection. Middleton, an Atlanta native, had seven career interceptions at Furman, including four in his senior season. Walker had 13 sacks and 110 tackles in his career at Georgia Tech.
Analysis: Middleton has excellent speed and decent height, but many question his experience. He's a bright kid but doesn't have a future with your Fantasy team. The same can be said of Walker.
News: The Falcons spent a seventh-round pick on Georgia Tech DT Vance Walker, who will provide organizational depth for the club in training camp. He's a physical interior defensive lineman who had a bad senior season after suffering a concussion and then an ankle injury, but he did finish his collegiate career with 13 sacks.
Analysis: He'll likely be no better than a reserve or practice squad player. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
