News: The Rams cut WR Jordan Kent, TE Darcy Johnson and DB Brett Johnson on Friday.
Analysis: All three players were fighting for a backup job with the Rams. None of them were expected to play major roles in 2010 and can be ignored in Fantasy.
News: St. Louis RB Samkon Gado, WR Jordan Kent, RB Mike Karney and Cord Parks were all held without a stat in the Rams' Week 16 loss at Arizona.
Analysis: Gado was initially thought to be starting for the injured Steven Jackson, but the Rams clearly had other plans as he ended up without a touch. None of these players need to be active for Week 17 against the Niners.
News: Rams TE Billy Bajema and WR Jordan Kent didn't record offensive statistics Week 15 at St. Louis.
Analysis: Neither of these players ever makes a statistical contribution in Fantasy. Leave both on waivers.
News: Rams RB Mike Karney, WR Ruvell Martin and WR Jordan Kent didn't record offensive statistics Week 14 at Tennessee.
Analysis: None of these players ever contributes enough statistically to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers for Week 15 against the Texans.
News: The following Rams players did not record an offensive statistic in Week 13 at the Bears: QB Keith Null, TE Billy Bajema, DE Daniel Fells, RB Samkon Gado, WR Ruvell Martin and WR Jordan Kent.
Analysis: None of the players listed have an Fantasy appeal. Leave them on waivers in all leageus until further notice.
News: The Rams have announced the following players as inactive for Week 12 vs. Seattle: QB Marc Bulger, DB Danny Gorrer, FB Mike Karney, WR Jordan Kent and RB Chris Ogbonnaya.
Analysis: Bulger, the only player in this group with any real Fantasy value, was declared our earlier this week, so hopefully you already benched him. The others can all continue to be ignored.
News: The Rams' list of inactives for Week 11 against the Cardinals includes QB Keith Null, DB Danny Gorrer, LB Dominic Douglas, WR Jordan Kent and DL C.J. Ah You.
Analysis: None of these players contributes enough statistically to matter in Fantasy even when active. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The Rams have signed WR Jordan Kent to replace Keenan Burton, the receiver lost for the season to a knee injury. Kent is 6-foot-4 and spent training camp with Seattle but was waived. He's never caught an NFL pass.
Analysis: Kent isn't expected to be productive enough to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off rosters.
News: With veteran Seahawks receivers T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Nate Burleson, Deion Branch and rookie Deon Butler virtual locks to make the roster, there appear to be seven receivers competing for the final two spots. In Monday evening's practice, Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu looked sharp as he juked CB Marquis Floyd twice. "Sometimes it helps to run a bad route (several plays before)," Obomanu said. "These guys are always going for the interception, and you can get them on a counter-route." Obomanu, who's competing with Courtney Taylor, Jordan Kent and Michael Bumpus -- among others -- for the final two roster spots, said this about the position battle: "You have to realize the coaches watch everything from how you carry yourself to how you run your routes."
Analysis: Keep an eye on who wins the job, but none of these guys have much Fantasy value this season unless the starters get hurt. Leave them out of your plans on Draft Day.
News: The Seahawks listed K Brandon Coutu, LB Leroy Hill, DL Red Bryant, WR Jordan Kent and DL Brandon Miller among their inactives for Week 15 at St. Louis.
Analysis: None of these player ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Seahawks WR Koren Robinson, RB Justin Forsett, FB Owen Schmitt, WR Jordan Kent, WR Courtney Taylor, RB Julius Jones and QB Charlie Frye all dressed for Seattle's Week 14 loss to the Patriots, but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: Robinson and Jones have some minimal Fantasy value, but only Jones should be considered in Fantasy play for Week 15 at St. Louis if he isn't benched. Ignore everyone else in this list.
News: Seattle has listed the following players as being inactive for Week 12 against the Washington Redskins: QB Charlie Frye (3rd QB), K Brandon Coutu, DB C.J. Wallace, WR Jordan Kent, TE Jeb Putzier and DL Brandon Miller.
Analysis: None of these players does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy even when healthy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Seahawks RB Justin Forsett, WR Jordan Kent, TE Will Heller and QB Seneca Wallace all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 11 vs. Arizona.
Analysis: Wallace was the Seahawks starting quarterback the last few weeks with Matt Hasselbeck sidelined, but Hasselbeck returned to action Week 11 and that meant Wallace was back on the bench. Most of these players are reserves for Seattle and have little to no Fantasy appeal. Seattle plays Washington Week 12.
News: Seahawks WR Keary Colbert, RB Justin Forsett, WR Jordan Kent, TE Jeb Putzier and QB Charlie Frye all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 9 against the Eagles.
Analysis: Most of these players are reserves for the Seahawks or play a marginal role on offense when in the starting lineup. They barely factor on the stat sheet and have little to no Fantasy value heading into Week 10 against the Dolphins.
News: Seahawks WR Jordan Kent, TE Jeff Robinson, TE Jeb Putzier and QB Charlie Frye didn't record offensive statistics Week 9 at San Francisco.
Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The Seahawks listed the following players as inactive for Week 6 vs. Green Bay: K Brandon Coutu, QB Matt Hasselbeck, DL Red Bryant, WR Jordan Kent, WR Deion Branch, TE Jeb Putzier and DL Baraka Atkins.
Analysis: Aside from Hasselbeck and Branch, none of the players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy option. They are not in a position to contribute regular stats as they aren't in line for regular playing time. They've got some depth chart climbing to do and should be left on the waiver wire.
News: Seattle released receiver Courtney Taylor, who started the season opener, on Wednesday and promoted receiver Jordan Kent from the practice squad. Taylor cleared waivers and was signed to the practice squad.
Analysis: The Seahawks need some able bodies at receiver since they are all banged up, but Kent likely will play just a marginal role at this time. It's still safe to ignore him and Taylor in Fantasy.
News: Seattle released RB Justin Forsett and WR Jordan Kent on Tuesday. Kent's release leaves Seattle with only two healthy wide receivers heading into Sunday's game against San Francisco - Courtney Taylor and Logan Payne. Seattle is expected to try to sign a veteran receiver before Sunday's game, with Nate Burleson out for the season, and Deion Branch and Bobby Engram not expected back for a few more weeks.
Analysis: Neither Forsett nor Kent were considered viable Fantasy options because they weren't going to play much. Even if they sign elsewhere, they are still not players to consider in Fantasy.
News: Seahawks WR Nate Burleson has been ruled out for the season after tearing ligaments in his left knee during Seattle's Week 1 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: OK, hands up who can name the top three healthy WRs in Seattle right now? Don't worry, you're not alone. Currently, they are Courtney Taylor, Jordan Kent and Logan Payne. Bobby Engram and Deion Branch are recovering from their respective injuries, but Engram isn't expected back until October while Branch is probably a week or two away from returning. Drop Burleson in all formats and if you're a gambler, take a flier on whichever of those three names I listed you think can make a Fantasy impact in Week 2 against the 49ers.
News: Seahawks TE Jeb Putzier, QB Seneca Wallace, RB T.J. Duckett, WR Jordan Kent and TE Will Heller all dressed for Seattle's Week 1 loss to the Bills but did not record an offensive statistic.
Analysis: Duckett is the only player in this group with any real Fantasy value and he could get some more carries in Week 2 against the 49ers if Maurice Morris is injured. Ignore the rest.
News: The Seahawks are counting on Courtney Taylor, Jordan Kent and Logan Payne to help the ailing receiving corps. Kent and Payne were both on the Seahawks' practice squad last year and never appeared in a game. Barring a sudden improvement in the health of veteran Deion Branch, they'll be making their NFL debuts Sunday. That opportunity has come about in large part because of major injuries to three of the four Seahawks receivers who figured to get the most playing time this season. Branch had knee surgery and is working his way back after not playing in exhibition games nor practicing in training camp. Coach Mike Holmgren had hoped to have Branch back this week. But Branch didn't take part in Monday's short practice and his status is unknown. Bobby Engram is out for at least the first two games to rehabilitate a cracked shoulder bone, and Ben Obomanu is lost for the season with a broken collarbone suffered in the exhibition finale.
Analysis: Taylor should get the biggest boost in playing time because he's the most experienced. For now, though, ignore all three and see how Taylor, Kent and Payne do in their season debut against the Bills. If any of them play well, consider adding them off the waiver wire.
News: Seahawks WR Jordan Kent scored on a 12-yard touchdown reception from Charlie Frye in the fourth quarter of Monday's 18-17 preseason loss to the Chargers. Kent finished the game with a team-high four catches and 47 yards. His longest reception went for 21 yards.
Analysis: The second-year wide receiver from Oregon is trying to entering the Seahawks rotation since injuries have sidelined Deion Branch and Bobby Engram. Kent has done a nice job in the preseason with nine catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns. At this rate, he could make the team and end up turning heads in-season. Still, Kent is not worth drafting in most Fantasy formats. If that changes, we will let you know.
News: With Seahawks leading receiver Bobby Engram expected to miss six to eight weeks with a cracked shoulder, the club will begin auditioning WRs Ben Obomanu, Jordan Kent and Courtney Taylor for Engram's spot for their first three games.
Analysis: Obomanu is a third-year receiver who has drawn rave reviews thus far in camp while Kent and Taylor are second-year receivers aiming to bump their workload. Obomanu is considered the favorite to get Engram's starting spot for now. All three receivers are not worth drafting in standard drafts but could come into play off the waiver wire this season. We'll keep you posted on who's going to get the job.
News: Seattle WR Jordan Kent scored a touchdown in Friday's preseason opener against the Vikings. He caught one pass for the 18-yard score from Matt Hasselbeck in the opening drive of the game.
Analysis: The fact that Kent scored the first touchdown of the season for the Seahawks bodes well for the youngster during the regular season. He hooked up with starter Hasselbeck and that is something the QB will remember. Kent should still be avoided in Fantasy drafts unless Seattle comes out and says he'll get plenty of touches during the season, but he's definitely someone to keep on the radar.
News: Seattle WR Ben Obomanu is earning his spot with the Seahawks this year, reports the News Tribune. Obomanu's work ethic and consistency earned him a regular appearance with veterans Bobby Engram and Nate Burleson in the team's frequently used three-receiver sets. With Deion Branch still recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgery on his left knee, and with questions lingering if he will be ready for the team's regular season opener at Buffalo, the competition at receiver has produced several candidates with Obomanu battling with Courtney Taylor, Logan Payne and Jordan Kent. But Obomanu has stood out so far and is ahead of the other two. Last year, he saw action in 13 games, finishing with 12 receptions and 180 yards with one touchdown.
Analysis: Seattle needs help at receiver, and Obomanu could provide the answer. He is worth taking with a late-round flier in deep leagues. Don't draft Taylor, Payne or Kent at this time, but keep an eye on how they do in case they earn regular playing time during the year.
News: Earlier this offseason, the Tacoma News Tribune reported that the Seahawks agreed to reserves/futures contracts with: TE Zac Alcorn, DT Jonathan Lewis, RB Dan Curran, LB Cameron Jensen, WR Jordan Kent, TE Joe Newton, DE Nu'u Tafisi and DT Kelly Talavou.
Analysis: Curran was nicknamed "Gravedigger" for his gritty play in the Arena league, and Alcorn has reportedly been on Seattle's radar for a while. Ultimately, these guys will compete for roster spots throughout the offseason and provide organizational depth. They're not worth following in Fantasy league play.
News: The Seahawks set their eight-player practice squad Sunday, and it's a group of young players that spent much of the offseason with the team. WR Jordan Kent, a sixth-round draft choice this past spring from Oregon, joins WR Logan Payne (Minnesota) on the squad. TE Joe Newton is from Oregon State and FB David Kirtman, a fifth-round choice in 2006, is from Mercer Island and USC. Former California DE Nu'u Tafisi, LB Cameron Jensen (Brigham Young) and DB Kevin Hobbs (Auburn) round out the squad. All eight players were with the Seahawks in training camp and the exhibition season before being waived Saturday when the Seahawks trimmed their active roster to 53 players.
Analysis: None of these players should be drafted in any Fantasy leagues this year. They will not get enough playing time to help your roster at any point this season.
News: On Saturday, the Seahawks let go of: CB Omowale Dada, QB Derek Devine, WR Joe Fernandez, DE Brandon Green, DT Marcus Green, CB DeJuan Groce, CB Kevin Hobbs, CB Pete Hunter, LB Cameron Jensen, rookie WR Jordan Kent, FB David Kirtman, TE Joe Newton, FB Josh Parry, WR Logan Payne, C Pat Ross, TE Leonard Stephens, DE Nu'u Tafisi, DT Eric Taylor, G Steve Vallos, RB Marquis Weeks and OT Kyle Williams.
Analysis: Kent is a raw talent who could resurface elsewhere (maybe on the Seahawks' practice squad). Everyone else isn't relevant Fantasywise at this point. All of the above players should be considered unusable for Fantasy purposes until they find regular playing time with an NFL team.
News: The Seahawks and rookie sixth-round pick Jordan Kent have agreed to terms on a contract, according to the Seattle Times. It is believed to be a four-year deal. Kent will compete for a spot along the WR depth chart and also work on special teams this season.
Analysis: Kent has great size (6-foot-3) and speed (4.43 time in the 40-yard dash). He's a little skinny and needs coaching, but if he gets both, he's got a shot to be a regular receiver for the 'Hawks. He's worth a pick late in dynasty rookie drafts.
News: The Seahawks' 2007 draft class includes: Maryland CB Josh Wilson, Cal DT Brandon Mebane, Miami (Fla.) DE Baraka Atkins, Georgia Tech OG Mansfield Wrotto, Auburn LB Will Herring, Auburn WR Courtney Taylor, Oregon WR Jordan Kent and Wake Forest OG Steve Vallos.
Analysis: Wilson is a hard hitting CB who lacks height (5-foot-9) but can jump and is a better zone defender. Mebane is a big man who will clog opposing rush lanes and help right away with the Seahawks' D-line rotation, as will Atkins, who is a 'tweener D-lineman. Herring should be a solid special teams player. Taylor has nice size and can be a move-the-chains type of receiver without blazing speed. So who's got potential? It's Kent, who has great size (6-foot-3) and speed (4.43 time in the 40-yard dash). He's a little skinny and needs coaching, but if he gets both, he's got a shot to be a regular receiver for the 'Hawks. Only Kent and Wilson are worth picks in dynasty rookie drafts as late-round picks.
