News: With starting RB Felix Jones (hamstring) listed as questionable for Week 16, Dallas signed RB Chauncey Washington from its practice squad on Friday. Washington has been on the team's practice squad all season after being released by St. Louis
Analysis: If Jones is unable to play, Sammy Morris would receive the starting nod with Washington serving as the Cowboys' backup. Washington has not been a major contributor since being selected by Jacksonville in the 2008 NFL Draft. Fantasy owners should ignore him for Week 16.
News: The Rams added RB Chauncey Washington to their practice squad after cutting him from the active roster.
Analysis: As a practice squad guy, Washington can continue to be ignored in Fantasy play.
News: Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo commented Wednesday on RB Chauncey Washington, who was signed by the team Tuesday. "He's a big back," Spagnuolo said. "When you watch, he's a power runner. He had some good quality special teams reps. Hopefully we get both of those things." Spagnuolo added that Washington would probably play just special teams in Week 4 against the Seahawks.
Analysis: St. Louis added Washington because RB Steven Jackson (groin) is banged up. But if Jackson can't go in Week 4, it seems Kenneth Darby and Keith Toston will likely get the first chance to pick up his reps. Washington might be worth keeping tabs on for future weeks, but don't consider adding him or starting him in Fantasy Week 4 since it appears he will be limited to special teams.
News: The Rams have signed RB Chauncey Washington off the Jets' practice squad, further deepening their running back corps in the wake of a groin strain suffered by Steven Jackson.
Analysis: Washington has four career carries and one career catch for 18 total yards, and he got those in 2008 with Jacksonville. He hasn't played a down of regular-season football since, but he led USC in rushing for his final two seasons. Washington is also believed to be a potential special-teams contributor, but he has yet to return a kick in his NFL career. Figure that Washington will provide depth for the Rams but offer nothing of substance to Fantasy owners.
News: The Jets added RB Chauncey Washington to their practice squad on Tuesday, two days after he was waived.
Analysis: Washington has played just eight games in the NFL, getting four carries for 9 yards. He is nothing more than roster depth and can be ignored in all Fantasy formats.
News: Veteran fullback Tony Richardson has been released by the New York Jets, part of a series of roster moves a day after the team got down to the mandatory 53-player limit. The Jets also waived wide receiver David Clowney and running back Chauncey Washington on Sunday, and claimed offensive tackle Patrick Brown (Minnesota), defensive tackle Marcus Dixon (Dallas) and wide receiver Patrick Turner (Miami) off waivers.
Analysis: Washington has played just eight games in the NFL, getting four carries for 9 yards. He is nothing more than roster depth and can be ignored in all Fantasy formats.
News: WR David Clowney and RBs Danny Woodhead and Chauncey Washington are not among the players cut by the New York Jets as they set their 53-man roster. Both Woodhead and Washington had solid performances this summer, and it was a mild surprise Saturday that the Jets kept both. They give New York seven running backs, including Shonn Greene, LaDainian Tomlinson, struggling fourth-round pick Joe McKnight, and fullbacks Tony Richardson and fifth-round pick John Conner. The roster could still change Sunday, when teams look to pick up players who have been cut. Clowney was on the bubble all summer, but made the team - possibly as insurance until Santonio Holmes returns from a four-game suspension in Week 5.
Analysis: Washington will likely see most of his time on special teams and has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: The Jets have signed running back Chauncey Washington, a teammate of quarterback Mark Sanchez at Southern California. Washington, taken from the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad, was a seventh-round pick of Jacksonville last year. He had nine rushes for 9 yards, one reception for 9 yards and three special teams tackles.
Analysis: Washington will provide depth on the Jets' roster for the rest of the season. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: The Cowboys have released CB Cletis Gordon and signed RB Chauncey Washington to their practice squad.
Analysis: Neither of these players were expected to produce enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep them off of rosters for now.
News: Cowboys K David Buehler, FB Deon Anderson, RB Chauncey Washington, TE John Phillips, WR Kevin Ogletree and QB Jon Kitna didn't record Fantasy-relevant statistics Week 5 at Kansas City.
Analysis: None of these players ever contributes enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers. The Cowboys are on bye in Week 6 and host the Falcons in Week 7.
News: The Dallas Cowboys released center Duke Preston Saturday. The team signed running back Chauncey Washington from their practice squad to the 53-man roster. Washington made his Cowboys debut last week at Denver recording a special teams tackle.
Analysis: Washington has minimal Fantasy value when on the active roster. Ignore him in all leagues for the rest of the season.
News: The Dallas Cowboys signed RB Chauncey Washington back to their practice squad Tuesday. He was signed to the active roster October 3 from the practice squad and played on special teams at Denver, making one tackle prior to his release on October 5.
Analysis: Washington has minimal Fantasy value when on the active roster. Ignore him in all leagues for the rest of the season.
News: The Dallas Cowboys have released safety Marvin White Saturday. The team signed running back Chauncey Washington off of their practice squad.
Analysis: White is a decent talent with some upside but will have to find another team before he becomes viable in any Fantasy leagues. Washington might get a carry or two but has very little Fantasy value Week 4.
News: The Dallas Cowboys have signed running back Chauncey Washington to their practice squad, two days after starter Marion Barber got hurt.
Analysis: Washington played in six games for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2008 as a rookie seventh-round draft pick out of USC. He only had four carries for 9 yards and one catch for 9 yards. He doesn't figure to see the playing field for the 'Boys so leave him on waivers in all formats.
News: Jaguars RB Chauncey Washington had nine carries for 25 yards during Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles. His longest carry went for nine yards. He also added two catches for 14 yards. Washington has 18 carries for 69 yards during the preseason.
Analysis: Washington was the first running back to relieve Maurice Jones-Drew Thursday and is in good position to act as his primary backup in the fall. Washington played in just six games as a rookie in 2008, but has a chance to play a bigger role in 2009 now that Fred Taylor is out of the picture. Washington is more of an in-season waiver wire addition in the event he has a breakout campaign.
News: Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said Monday backup RB Chauncey Washington will be held from practice until cleared by doctors to play. Washington has a concussion.
Analysis: Washington is competing for a backup role behind Maurice Jones-Drew. He's not expected to produce much, so ignore him in Fantasy leagues on Draft Day even when healthy.
News: The Jacksonville Jaguars released veteran RB Fred Taylor on Monday. Taylor, the clubs first round pick in 1998, started 136 of 140 games in 11 seasons with the Jaguars and led the team in rushing eight times. His 2008 season came to end three games early after he tore ligaments in his thumb.
Analysis: Taylor might retire, but his comments to the Florida Times Union on Monday seem to indicate there is still some yardage and touchdowns left in those legs. "Now I have the opportunity to go into free agency for the first time in my career, ever," said Taylor, who offered to take a pay cut to stay with the Jags. "Im excited about it. Wherever Taylor ends up, he isn't likely to be a No. 1 running back, so his Fantasy value remains relatively low. If his situation is reasonably favorable (i.e. he's a backup and not a third-string guy), then Taylor might be worth drafting late on in deeper leagues heading into the 2009 season, but don't expect him to lead your team to a championship my any means. If Jacksonville don't make a move in free agency or the draft, second-year back Chauncey Washington could step into Taylor's backup role with the Jaguars.
News: Jacksonville RB Chauncey Washington took the ball from QB David Garrard three times in Week 16's game on Thursday against the Colts. Washington rushed for three yards as a backup to RB Maurice Jones-Drew. The Jaguars scored a touchdown on the ground but that went to Montell Owens, the team's third-string back.
Analysis: Washington will continue to back up Jones-Drew with Fred Taylor out but he barely gets on the field for the do-it-all Jones-Drew. He's not worth owning or using in Fantasy at this time. Keep him on waivers for Week 17 at Baltimore.
News: Jaguars RB Chauncey Washington got one carry for six yards in a Week 15 win over the Packers.
Analysis: Washington backed up Maurice Jones-Drew on Sunday, but he barely saw the field. He remains a non-factor in Fantasy play heading into Week 16 vs. Indianapolis.
News: Jaguars RB Alvin Pearman is inactive for Jacksonville's Week 15 game vs. Green Bay.
Analysis: With Pearman inactive, there will be no one to steal carries from Maurice Jones-Drew. Chauncey Washington will be the backup. Jones-Drew remains a must-start Fantasy RB in all formats, while Pearman and Washington should continue to be ignored.
News: Jaguars rookie RB Chauncey Washington got the first offensive touch of his NFL career Week 13 at Houston. He caught a nine-yard pass.
Analysis: Washington clearly doesn't do enough on a week-to-week basis to matter in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 14 at Chicago.
News: The Jacksonville Jaguars have declared the inactives for their Week 12 game vs. Minnesota. Not in uniform will be: DB William James (coach's decision), DB Omare Lowe (knee), RB Chauncey Washington (coach's decision), LB Thomas Williams (coach's decision), DT Jimmy Kennedy and WR Troy Williamson (groin).
Analysis: Williamson has minimal Fantasy value, but he was declared out earlier this week, so you should have already prepared for his absence. Everyone else on this list should continue to be ignored.
News: The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced the inactives for their Week 10 game at Detroit. Not in uniform will be: DB William James (coach's decision), RB Chauncey Washington (coach's decision), DB Brian Witherspoon (coach's decision), LB Mike Peterson (coach's decision), WR Mike Walker (knee) and DT John Henderson (knees).
Analysis: Peterson has some low-end Fantasy value in IDP leagues when he's active, but he was sent home from practice by Jack Del Rio earlier in the week. He can be ignored in all formats for this matchup. The rest of these guys have minimal or zero Fantasy value.
News: The Jaguars have announced the inactives for their Week 9 game at Cincinnati. Not in uniform will be: DB William James (coach's decision), DB Omare Lowe (coach's decision), RB Chauncey Washington (coach's decision), LB Thomas Williams (coach's decision), WR Mike Walker (knee) and DT Tony McDaniel (coach's decision).
Analysis: No one on this list has any more than very minimal Fantasy value, so continue to ignore them in all formats.
News: Jaguars DB William James, DB Omare Lowe, RB Chauncey Washington, LB Thomas Williams, DL Jimmy Kennedy and WR Mike Walker have all been ruled inactive for Week 8 vs. Cleveland.
Analysis: Walker is the really only true Fantasy contributor when healthy, and even then, he is a very low-end Fantasy WR. Make sure to keep these players reserved Week 8.
News: The following Jaguars did not record an offensive statistic in Week 4 vs. Houston: QB Cleo Lemon, RB Chauncey Washington, TE Greg Estandia and TE/LS Joe Zelenka.
Analysis: None of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: The Jaguars listed the following players as inactive for Week 3 at Indianapolis: WR Jerry Porter (third QB), WR Troy Williamson. RB Chauncey Washington, OL Chris Naeole, LB Justin Durant, OL Brad Meester, OL Charles Spencer and DL Jimmy Kennedy.
Analysis: Porter can be considered a viable No. 4 Fantasy receiver when healthy. Williamson is owned in some leagues, but really shouldn't be until he proves productive and healthy. None of the other players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: The Jaguars listed the following players as inactive for Week 2 vs. Buffalo: DB Scott Starks (pectoral), RB Chauncey Washington (coach's decision), LB Thomas Williams (coach's decision), DL Jimmy Kennedy (coach's decision), WR Jerry Porter (hamstring, third QB) and WR Troy Williamson thigh).
News: The Jaguars listed the following players as inactive for Week 1: DB Scott Starks, RB Chauncey Washington, DB Isiah Gardner, OL Brad Meester, DL Derek Landri, WR Jerry Porter, WR Mike Walker and OL Charles Spencer.
Analysis: Aside from Porter, none of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do. Expect Porter to be on the injury report again for Week 2.
News: The Jaguars signed 2008 seventh-round pick Chauncey Washington to a contract Friday. Washington, the only offensive player drafted by the Jaguars in 2008, started 14 games at USC at running back and posted career totals of 1,778 yards and 19 touchdowns. Washington led USC in rushing his final two seasons and finished with four career 100-yard rushing games. He rushed for a team-high 969 rushing yards on 195 carries with 10 touchdowns in 2007, including a career-high 202 yards at California. He averaged 80.7 rushing yards per game.
Analysis: Washington will be a reserve with the Jaguars and play on special teams if he makes the final roster. Don't plan on drafting Washington in any leagues in 2008.
