Offseason Extra: Post-draft, 12-team mock draft

Senior Fantasy Writer
  •

You can already see some of the dilemmas Fantasy owners will be facing in August. When should Peyton Manning be drafted? What round should rookie running backs Trent Richardson and Doug Martin come off the board? Is Randy Moss really back in the NFL?

Check out our Fantasy Football podcast!
There is no better source for entertaining Fantasy advice than our Fantasy Football Today podcast. Dave Richard, Jamey Eisenberg and Adam Aizer will help you pass the time as you anticipate Draft Day 2014!
Latest episode | Subscribe today!

All of these questions will be answered in this mock draft, including many others. You should use it as an early guide on what to expect once training camp happens. Of course, plenty will change once players put on pads and start actually preparing for the season, but we'll be right there with them with many more mock drafts.

As always, we ask you to share your thoughts on this draft. Take advantage of our Fantasy Football Twitter feed (@CBSFantasyFB) and post your comments there, or share your thoughts on our Fantasy Football Facebook page.

In this league, all touchdowns are worth six points, and we award one point for every 10 yards rushing and receiving and one point for every 25 yards passing. We feature a starting lineup of QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, K, DST and a FLEX (RB/WR/TE). There will also be five reserve spots for a 14-round draft. This lineup reflects our CBSSports.com free Fantasy Football game.

We also had a special guest join us for this draft as Scott Levy, a randomly selected user, was chosen on Twitter to mock with us. This is something we plan to do going forward, so be on the lookout for your chance to draft with us.

No timetable on Calvin Pryor's return
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1:33 pm ET) Jets rookie safety Calvin Pryor is going through concussion protocol. Coach Rex Ryan told the Associated Press he has no indication when the first-rounder might return.

Lamar Miller taking advantage of opportunity
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1:24 pm ET) With Knowshon Moreno (knee) on the PUP list, Dolphins running back Lamar Miller is staking a strong claim to the starting job.

"I like everything he’s done, really," coach Joe Philbin said. "He’s a guy that this is year three and, as I’ve said before, I think his first year, I want to say he had about 150 yards rushing. Last year, he had around 700-and-change. Now, it’s his third year. He knows the expectations. He knows what the job description and requirements are of a running back in the National Football League.

"I anticipate he’s going to have a very good season and I think he’s off to a good start."

Miller ran for 250 yards as a rookie, 709 yards last year.

Morgan Burnett tweaks ankle
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1:19 pm ET) Packers starting safety Morgan Burnett missed Wednesday's practice after tweaking his ankle, reports ESPN.com. Micah Hyde and rookie Ha Ha Clinton-Dix were the first-team safeties.

Redskins add Jake McDonough
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1:15 pm ET) The Redskins signed former Colts defensive end Jake McDonough, reports ESPN.com.

T.J. Jones unsure if he'll be ready for start of season
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1:12 pm ET) Lions rookie receiver T.J. Jones, who's coming back from shoulder surgery, is doing individual drills but not catching passes yet. He told MLive.com he doesn't know if he'll be ready for the start of the season.

"Depends on how long my body wants to heal," he said. "Right now I'm just focused on coming back as strong and as healthy as I can be, for whenever that day is."

The sixth-round pick out of Notre Dame has fallen behind and is in danger of not making the team.

Von Miller progressing well, could play in preseason
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12:58 pm ET) Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller, who tore his ACL in Week 16, is progressing well and it's "more than realistic that he could play in the preseason," according to the team's website. Miller went through individual drills and some 7-on-7 work in the first week of camp

"I’m in a great spot," Miller said. "Recovering from an ACL is nothing -- I’m out here playing the game I love and I’m feeling great."

Miller did post-practice sprints Monday and was near the front of the pack, the report said. His knee brace does not seem to be holding him back.

"I try not to let my brace be an excuse or a reason why not to do something," Miller said. "It’s the brace, it’s what I’ve got to wear. I feel like I can play football without shoulder pads, but I’m not going to let wearing shoulder pads have me out there like, ‘Man, I can’t play football today.' So having the brace on is just part of it. It’s what I’ve got to do."

Kyle Long able to do limited work
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12:48 pm ET) Bears guard Kyle Long, who had been dealing with a viral infection, returned to strength and conditioning drills Wednesday, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Darren McFadden ahead of Maurice Jones-Drew for No. 1 job
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12:41 pm ET) Raiders running back Darren McFadden "has the starting edge" over Maurice Jones-Drew, reports SI.com. The website adds, however, that "this should be a committee backfield considering McFadden’s injury history -- he’s yet to play a full season in six."

Terrance Williams admits he took some plays off mentally
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12:27 pm ET) Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams acknowledged that he took some plays off mentally as a rookie last year.

"I feel like sometimes when I go three deep balls straight, then I have a tendency to take a play off [mentally]," Williams told ESPN.com. "And that play that I take off, the ball is coming my way. When I get tired now, I’m just trying to hold myself accountable, just thinking about what the 10 guys would say standing right next to me."

Receivers coach Derek Dooley said Williams' challenge is to be consistent now that he's an unquestioned starter.

"When you look back at his first year, when he was playing about 35 snaps a game, he was really making some great plays," Dooley said. "Then there were a bunch of games when he was kind of thrust in and had to play the whole game when Miles [Austin] was hurt and it was hard on him, being able to sustain that mentally and physically and emotionally. So he was a little bit more inconsistent.

"The trick now is to develop that level of consistency where he can perform at his best for 70 plays. That’s not easy."

No structural damage for Lardarius Webb
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11:59 am ET) Tests conducted on Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb's lower back revealed no structural damage, sources tell the Baltimore Sun. The injury, which occurred Friday, is apparently muscular, the paper said.

As of now, the team expects Webb to recover with rest and rehab. They won't rush him back because they need him healthy for the season opener.
