by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4:44 pm ET) Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb missed the final training camp practice Tuesday due to his sprained right shoulder. However, Cobb feels his time away from the field will be minimal, per PackersNews.com.

“I don’t plan on missing a game,” Cobb said. "I'm doing everything in my power to get back before then, but we still don't know severity. We've still got to get a lot of the swelling out. It definitely is a lot better then what we all thought it was in the beginning."

Chiefs' Reid says TE Travis Kelce has 'slightly sprained ankle'
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4:27 pm ET) Chiefs coach Andy Reid delivered some good news Tuesday regarding the status of tight end Travis Kelce, who left practice Monday due to an injury.

"Travis has a slightly sprained ankle,” Reid said, per the team's official website. “It's not a high ankle sprain. There's a chance if we were playing a regular season game, he'd have a pretty good shot of playing.

“It looks like he got his foot caught in the grass. He just tweaked his ankle a little bit. I think he’s lucky the grass gave way a little bit. That’s what happened.”

The Chiefs open the season Sept. 13 against the Texans, which gives Kelce a little less than two weeks to get ready for the start of the 2015 campaign.

Kelce had a breakout season in 2014, totaling 67 catches for 862 yards and five touchdowns. He is expected to play a key role again in the Chiefs' passing game this season.

Browns backup QB Johnny Manziel expects to be ready for opener
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4:05 pm ET) Browns backup quarterback Johnny Manziel said Tuesday he will be ready for the season opener against the Jets. The second-year quarterback missed last week's preseason game due to tendinitis in his right throwing elbow.

"It's something I've dealt with ever season since my freshman year at (Texas) A&M,'' he said, per Cleveland.com.

Manziel added he is confident the soreness will dissipate once he starts throwing less and doesn't feel the injury will negatively impact his career.

Falcons' Quinn says LB Brooks Reed (groin) might need surgery
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:48 pm ET) Falcons linebacker Brooks Reed will get a second opinion on the groin injury that has sidelined him for most of the summer, coach Dan Quinn said Tuesday.

Quinn added surgery might be an option for the veteran linebacker, who signed a five-year deal with Atlanta in March.

“We certainly are concerned,” Quinn said. “We’re just trying to get it right in terms of him getting the strength back to feel like it’s just in the right spot. It certainly is (a concern) for us. He’s got such toughness and edge-setting pressure. So we’re just trying to get him where he’s feeling at his best.”

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(2:38 pm ET) The Saints have placed defensive end Anthony Spencer on the season-ending injured reserve list, per ESPN.com.

Spencer has 33 sacks in eight NFL seasons, including 11 in 2012, when he made the Pro Bowl as a member of the Cowboys.

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer

Steelers give WR Antonio Brown $2 million raise
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(2:14 pm ET) Thanks to some creative math, the Steelers were able to give star receiver Antonio Brown a $2 million bonus for his season, per NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport.

Brown had considered holding out this season, but reported to camp. The Steelers were able to restructure some contracts and find the extra money, and now Brown will make $8 million this season.

Brown caught 129 passes for 1,698 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.
