Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy among Eagles practicing Saturday
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:59 am ET) Eagles coach Chip Kelly announced Saturday that defensive backs Cary Williams (hamstring) and Brandon Boykin (hamstring), along with running back LeSean McCoy (thumb) and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (knee) will all practice Saturday, despite missing time in the previous preseason game due to their various maladies.

Antonio Allen officially diagnosed with concussion
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:54 am ET) Jets quarterback Antonio Allen was diagnosed with a concussion Friday, after taking a hit to the head during Friday's preseason game against the Giants. Allen will have to go through the league's concussion protocol before he can be cleared to play, and seems unlikely to return in time for Thursday's preseason finale against the Eagles.

Geno Smith officially named Jets starter at QB
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:52 am ET) The Jets officially named Geno Smith the team's starting quarterback Friday, a move that does not come as much of a surprise given his usage in the preseason.

"I think he's taken off from where he left off [last season]," coach Rex Ryan said after announcing the decision. "I expect great things in the future."

Smith has been working almost exclusively with the first time offense during training camp and preseason, as Michael Vick hasn't made much of a push to start. Smith made the decision easier with his solid preseason play, completing 69.7 percent of his 33 passes, for 268 yards and a touchdown. He added a rushing touchdown while turning the ball over just once.

Smith started all 16 games as a rookie, completing just 55.8 percent of his passes and finishing with 12 passing touchdowns to 21 interceptions.

Kory Sheets season ends with Achilles injury
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:49 am ET) Raiders running back Kory Sheets suffered a torn Achilles and will miss the entirety of the upcoming season, he announced via his twitter account Saturday.

Sheets was fighting for a spot on the roster, but has not appeared in an NFL game since 2011.

Report: B.J. Raji suffered torn biceps
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11:41 am ET) Packers defensive lineman B.J. Raji suffered an arm injury in Friday's preseason game, and NFL.com reports Saturday the team fears it could be a serious injury.

Raji underwent tests on his arm Saturday, but the report indicates he is thought to have suffered a torn biceps. The question is whether it is a partial or full tear, which would determine just how long he is expected to miss. At this time, no potential timetable is known.

James Jones gets plenty of attention, but not many catches
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:25 am ET) Raiders wideout James Jones was targeted a team-high 10 times Friday night in Green Bay. Unfortunately, he snagged only four for 36 yards.

Jones has been tossed to 17 times in the last two games with just six receptions.

Josh Morgan staying steady with preseason production
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:21 am ET) Wide receiver Josh Morgan was one of the bright spots for the Bears on Friday night against Seattle.

Morgan caught three passes for 48 yards. His average of 16 yards per reception topped the team among those who caught more than one. He has six catches for 89 yards in the last two games combined.

Christine Michael contributes to battering of Bears
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:11 am ET) Seahawks running back Christine Michael continued his impressive preseason with a productive performance in a lopsided defeat of Chicago on Friday night.

Michael led the team with 28 yards on eight carries and added three receptions for 26 yards. Among his catches resulted in a 7-yard touchdown in the third quarter that stretched the lead to 28-0.

Darren McFadden struggles in loss to Packers
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:06 am ET) Raiders running back Darren McFadden touched the ball four times and gained three yards Friday night in Green Bay.

McFadden rushed three times for five yards and caught one pass for minus-2. It was a far cry from his achievements in the second preseason game, when he rushed for 27 yards and earned the praise of Dennis Allen.

Brice Butler scores twice in first game back from concussion
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1:44 am ET) Raiders receiver Brice Butler worked his way back from a concussion with an impressive performance Friday against Green Bay. Butler scored twice with the backups in the second half. He led the team with 60 yards and two touchdowns on three receptions.
