Ravens place TE Dennis Pitta (hip) on Reserve-PUP list
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(12:39 pm ET) Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta was placed on the team's Reserve-PUP list Tuesday, meaning the tight end could return to the roster in Week 7, per ESPN.com.

Pitta has been limited to just seven games over the last two seasons after twice dislocating his hip, and the team wants to bring him along slowly. However, the reports suggests a midseason return in optimistic, given Pitta has not been cleared by doctors or been allowed to practice.

Falcons RB Devonta Freeman getting closer to 100 percent
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(12:04 pm ET) Falcons running back Devonta Freeman, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, was an active participant at practice Monday, an encouraging sign for a player who was thought to be the team's starter, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Freeman hurt his hamstring on Aug. 6 and has not played in any of the team's preseason contests. It's not clear if Freeman will play in the team's final game Thursday.

"He ran it well today," Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. "Limited reps, but it was awesome to see him."

Buccaneers cut five to get down to 75 players
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(11:31 am ET) The Buccaneers cut five players Tuesday to get down to the NFL-mandated 75-man limit, with the biggest name being punter Michael Koenen

Tampa Bay decided to go with first-year punter Jacob Schum over the veteran Koenen. The rest of the Bucs' cuts include guard Josh Allen, WR Robert Herron and corner Leonard Johnson. Defensive tackle Akeem Spence was placed on the PUP list.

Dolphins cut former Pro Bowl punter Brandon Fields
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(11:22 am ET) Punter Brandon Fields took a pay cut in the offseason but it wasn't enough for him to hold on to his job, as the former Pro Bowler was cut by the Dolphins Tuesday, per the Miami Herald

Fields was beat out by rookie kicker Matt Darr in most stats during training camp and preseason, and the Dolphins decided to go with the younger (and cheaper) kicker.

Browns cut DL Ishmaa'ily Kitchen
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(11:03 am ET) The Browns continued to trim their roster Tuesday, releasing defensive lineman Ishmaa'ily Kitchen, per Cleveland.com.

Kitchen has played nose for the Browns for the last three seasons, appearing in at least 13 games each season, with three starts. Last year, he tallied a career-high 43 tackles.

Jets rookie DE Leonard Williams says he'll be ready for Week 1
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(10:41 am ET) Rookie defensive end Leonard Williams, who is currently rehabbing a knee injury, tells Newsday that he is "definitely" planning to play in Week 1.

Williams injured his knee when he was rolled up on during the Jets' preseason game last Saturday. There was major concern seeing as Williams is slated to be a starter, but he said the injury should not keep him off the field.

"It's a little bit of a setback because I'm not able to practice," Williams said. "But it's not too much of a setback because they're not going full speed this week before the game. I'll be all right by the time the season opener starts."

Ravens place S Matt Elam (biceps) on injured reserve
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(10:14 am ET) The Ravens announced Tuesday they have placed four players on the season-ending injury reserve list, including safety Matt Elam, per a team release.

Elam tore his bicep on the first day the team put on pads in camp, so his designation to the injury list is not a surprise.

In addition to Elam, cornerback Chris Greenwood, linebacker Steve Means and tight end Allen Reisner are sidelined for the season.

Report: Seahawks to sign ex-Bills RB Fred Jackson
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(9:35 am ET) One day after surprisingly being released by the Bills, veteran running back Fred Jackson is headed to the Seahawks, where he will serve as Marshawn Lynch's primary backup, per NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport.

Lynch and Jackson are old friends, and his addition in Seattle's backfield gives the Seahawks a solid pass-catcher and experienced presence, seemingly spelling the end of Christine Michael's time with the team.

Report: Patriots acquire WR Jalen Saunders from Saints
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(9:22 am ET) The Patriots made a deal Tuesday, reportedly trading for wide receiver and return specialist Jalen Saunders in return for a conditional draft pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Saunders was drafted by the Jets last season, but played on the practice squads of the Cardinals and Seahawks before joining the Saints. He had lost his return job to Marcus Murphy in the preseason.

Eagles LB Kiko Alonso dealing with knee issue
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(8/31/2015) Eagles linebacker Kiko Alonso said he has been bothered by a nagging knee issue, which flared up before Saturday's preseason game, reports Philly.com.

Alonso was able to practice Monday, but coach Chip Kelly was unsure if he would play in Thursday's final preseason game.

"He's looked sharp in practice, but games and practice are a little bit different," Kelly said. "We'll see where he is. But we're hopeful to get him back out there [in games]."
