by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1:23 pm ET) Jets rookie free safety Calvin Pryor, who had a strong minicamp, is being evaluated for a head injury sustained in practice Saturday, per the New York Post.

The extent of the problem remains unknown for the first-round pick and former University if Louisville standout.

Hamstring problem has Cecil Shorts out for a few weeks
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:44 pm ET) Gus Bradley has announced that a hamstring injury will keep Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts sidelined for several weeks. That could keep him out of at least two preseason games.

Shorts easily led the team with 777 yards receiving last year. His health and productivity are critical considering that fellow Jacksonville wideout Justin Blackmon has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

Kendall Hunter out for season with ACL tear
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:36 pm ET) San Francisco running back Kendall Hunter will likely miss the 2014 season with an ACL tear sustained in practice Friday, per the Sacramento Bee. His knee buckled after catching a pass.

Hunter contributed 358 yards and three touchdowns a year ago. His absence could mean more playing time for 49ers second-round pick Carlos Hyde.

Owner: Johnny Manziel must learn from dedicated athletes
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:29 pm ET) Browns owner Jimmy Haslam did not exactly offer praise for quarterback and first-round pick Johnny Manziel, who earned plenty of offseason publicity and criticism for his very public partying.

"The really great athletes make their news on the field, not off the field," Haslam said via the San Antonio Express-News. Haslam added his wish that Manziel would pattern his professional outlook after such superstar athletes as Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Derek Jeter and LeBron James.

Manziel later told WKNR-AM that he agrees with Haslam that he can learn from that quartet.

Coach: Barkevious Mingo shined in Saturday practice
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:15 pm ET) Mike Pettine spoke glowingly Saturday about Browns 2013 top pick Barkevious Mingo, who proved disappointing as a pass rusher as a rookie as his production diminished in time.

Pettine said "hopefully the switch has been flipped" in regard to Mingo. The coach added that Mingo has gained much-needed weight and is now in the upper 230s. Mingo will also be put to the test in pass coverage, at which he was not adept a year ago.

Eric Berry sustains dislocated finger in practice
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:06 pm ET) Chiefs strong safety Eric Berry sustained a dislocated finger Saturday in practice, ESPN has reported. It remains to be seen if or for how long it sidelines him from training camp.

The All-Pro took back two interceptions for touchdowns a year ago.

Coach praises Miles Austin for Saturday work
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:57 am ET) Mike Pettine has praised Browns veteran wide receiver Miles Austin for his performance at practice Saturday, per WKNR-AM. He also expressed encouragement regarding other players at that position, perhaps as he braces for the impending drug suspension of top wideout Josh Gordon.

Austin is hoping to bounce back from an injury-plagued 2013 in which he was limited to eight starts, 24 catches, 244 yards and no touchdowns. He is at this point the team's most accomplished wide receiver.

James Oboh leaves Saturday practice with knee problem
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:50 am ET) Browns tight end hopeful and rookie free agent James Oboh walked off the field with a trainer after going down and grabbing his knee during 11-on-11 drills, per the Akron Beacon Journal. The extent of his injury has yet to be revealed.

Trent Richardson misses second straight practice
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:42 am ET) A day after losing Vick Ballard for the season to injury, the Colts are holding out fellow running back Trent Richardson from practice again Saturday with a soft tissue issue.

Richardson, whose problem has not been deemed serious, was a bust in 2013 after the trade brought him from Cleveland. He averaged just 2.9 YPC as his playing time decreased as the season progressed.

(11:32 am ET) Redskins running back Evan Royster is nursing a hamstring pull sustained Friday and is not practicing Saturday, per the Washington Post.

Royster finished last season on IR with an ankle injury after having been limited to two carries all year.
