Chargers make roster moves

(4:29 pm ET) The Chargers waived linebacker Jonas Mouton (knee) with a failed physical designation and put offensive tackle Jeromey Clary (hip) on the PUP list to start training camp, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Sidney Rice makes it official

(4:19 pm ET) Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice announced his retirement from the NFL at age 27. Rice did not give a reason in his official statement, but Pro Football Talk reported the decision stemmed from a history of concussions.

Rice also had ACL surgery last October. In seven seasons with the Vikings and Seahawks, Rice caught 30 touchdown passes. His best season came in 2009 when he caught 83 passes for 1,312 yards and eight scores with Minnesota.

Rice said he plans to go into business. "I'll be joining the 12s in support of the Seattle Seahawks as they take on the challenge to repeat," he said. "I appreciate all of the wonderful opportunities and look forward to establishing myself as a businessman. I will always be a Seahawk!"


Kyle Long sidelined with viral infection

(4:14 pm ET) Bears Pro Bowl guard Kyle Long has a viral infection and won't be on the field when training camp opens Friday, reports the Chicago Tribune. Long has lost some strength and will be reevaluated next week, the report said.

Redskins place two on PUP list

(4:05 pm ET) The Redskins put receiver Leonard Hankerson (knee) and offensive lineman Maurice Hurt on the PUP list to open training camp. Coach Jay Gruden said Hurt is "just a little bit out of shape."

Report: Sidney Rice retiring due to concussions

(3:53 pm ET) Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice is retiring due to a history of concussions, reports Pro Football Talk. He caught 243 passes for 3,592 yards and 30 touchdowns in seven seasons with Minnesota and Seattle.

Bears put Chris Conte on PUP list

Cardinals make roster moves

No contact for Von Miller until 3rd preseason game at earliest

(3:27 pm ET) Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller will be held out of contact until at least the third preseason game, reports the Denver Post. But Miller isn't starting training camp on the PUP list.

Miller is rehabbing from a torn ACL he suffered Week 16.


Broncos put Chris Harris on PUP list

(3:09 pm ET) The Broncos placed cornerback Chris Harris on the PUP list as he continues to rehab from ACL surgery. Harris will visit his surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, at the end of this month for an evaluation.

Harris is aiming to return by the midway point of preseason.


Ahmad Bradshaw cleared for camp

(3:07 pm ET) Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who's coming off neck surgery, passed his physical and is cleared for training camp, reports the Indianapolis Star. He should be on the field for the first practice Thursday.

However, Bradshaw and other players returning from serious injuries will not be "thrown completely into the fire on Day 1," the paper said.
