Corey Peters, Zeke Motta go on PUP list
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(10:12 am ET) The Falcons placed defensive tackle Corey Peters and safety Zeke Motta on the PUP list to start camp. Peters is rehabbing from a torn Achilles he suffered last December, while Motta has a neck injury that could jeopardize his career, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"Corey will be rehabbing on the side to start training camp," coach Mike Smith said. "But we have been very optimistic about his work in the offseason with our guys in athletic performance, with the trainers and the doctors. As soon as they clear him, we’ll get him back and on the field. ... He’s has done a very good job with his rehabilitation."

Jamaal Charles plans on holding out
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9:48 am ET) Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will not report for training camp on Wednesday unless there's a breakthrough in contract talks, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported. Charles believes he's outplayed his current deal and deserves a salary comparable to the highest-paid running backs in football.

The CBS affiliate in Kansas City, KCTV, was first to report the holdout

Charles totaled over 1,900 total yards last season with 19 total touchdowns, his best year in the pros, while helping the Chiefs reach the playoffs. In fact in the two years since coming back from a torn ACL he's totaled 2,796 rush yards, 929 receiving yards and 25 total touchdowns.

Vick Ballard says he's been cleared to practice
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9:21 am ET) Colts running back Vick Ballard said he's been cleared for practice and expects to be on the field for the start of training camp, ESPN reported Wednesday morning. Ballard tore his ACL last September and missed nearly all of the 2013 season.

Belichick: Rob Gronkowski has been cleared, will practice
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9:13 am ET) Patriots head coach Bill Belichick told the media Wednesday morning that tight end Rob Gronkowski has been cleared for practice. He will not be placed on the team's PUP list.

Gronkowski suffered a torn ACL last December and has apparently recovered from the injury without incident. It's a much different result than last year when Gronkowski was recovering from forearm and back surgeries and missed all of training camp as well as the first half of the season.

The burly tight end has 42 touchdowns in 50 regular-season games and has averaged 79.7 yards per gamer over the last three seasons.

Danny Woodhead lands two-year extension with the Chargers
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9:01 am ET) Running back Danny Woodhead has agreed to a two-year extension with the Chargers, the team announced Tuesday. Initially scheduled to be a free agent after this season, he'll be under contract with the team through 2016.

"Danny is an integral part of our offense," said general manager Tom Telesco. "His work ethic and on-field production were key elements last year. We look forward to having him be a part of the Chargers organization into the future."

Woodhead had 106 carries for 429 yards and two rushing scores to go along with 76 catches for 605 yards and six receiving touchdowns in 2013, mostly all career-high numbers.

Doug Martin to see fewer touches?
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8:57 am ET) Buccaneers running back Doug Martin will still be the lead runner for the team but is expected to see fewer carries than he did the past two seasons, the Tampa Tribune believes. The Bucs aren't sure who the backup will be between Mike James and Bobby Rainey but the paper thinks rookie Charles Sims will be utilized for his receiving skills.

Martin averaged 19.9 carries per game as a rookie and 21.2 carries per game last season before getting hurt.

Julio Jones cleared for practice but will be limited
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8:50 am ET) Falcons receiver Julio Jones has been cleared for training camp practice, the next step in his recovery from a broken foot, but coach Mike Smith said he'll be limited in his snaps.

"Our number one goal is to make sure that we've got everybody as healthy as we possibly can be, but we know that we have to get these guys some work together and reps. Julio will be out there participating in practice right from the start," Smith added per the Atlanta Journal Constitution

Marcell Dareus says he's returning to camp
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8:44 am ET) Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus issued a statement Wednesday morning announcing his return to training camp after "dealing with a personal matter in Alabama." Dareus thanks the Bills for their support and pledged to focus on earning the trust of his coaches and teammates.

"I have a passion for this game and I want to be here to help this organization achieve its goals," Dareus said. "There are things I need to work on professionally and personally to make sure I can be accountable to myself, my family, this team and this community.  My focus will remain on achieving that goal one day at a time."

Speculation begins on a Jamaal Charles holdout
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/22/2014) CBS affiliate KCTV in Kansas City reported Tuesday evening that Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is planning to hold out of training camp. When asked about the subject, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Charles might indeed not show up for the start of camp. The Chiefs expect him to show up according to the Kansas City Star

Camp opens on Wednesday for the Chiefs with the first practice on Thursday. Charles is allegedly seeking a new deal as he's paid $9 million per year less than Adrian Peterson and doesn't make as much as Reggie Bush and Ray Rice. Charles scored 19 touchdowns for the Chiefs last season.

Ace Sanders leaves Jaguars camp
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/22/2014) Jaguars receiver Ace Sanders announced Tuesday that he was taking a leave of absence from training camp and beyond because of "personal issues." Sanders wouldn't specify except to say he's going to get some counseling and that he expects to receive a four-game suspension from the NFL for violating their substance abuse policy. He's not expected to participate in training camp or the preseason.

"I've decided to go seek help, get [the] attention that I need -- hopefully somebody can help me out," Sanders said per the Florida Times-Union. "I should be OK; I just want to get better and come back and be ready to play. Sometimes life hits and it's hard."
