Prince Amukamara could return to practice this week

(4:32 pm ET) Giants defensive back Prince Amukamara is still recovering from a groin injury, and coach Tom Coughlin told ESPN.com he hopes Amukamara will be back in practice prior to the final preseason game.

"I would think Prince is going to run," he said. "He ran last night, he ran today with the trainers and maybe we’ll get him back this week."

Amukamara missed the team's last preseason game as a result of the injury, suffered the previous week. Assuming he can return to practice before the preseason ends, he should be ready to play by the start of the regular season. 


Odell Beckham's status still not clear

(4:25 pm ET) Giants coach Tom Coughlin still is not sure how much work rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will be able to get in the final week of preseason practice, he told ESPN.com Saturday.

"I haven't heard whether Beckham will get any type of work [this week]," Coughlin said. "I think they say that progress is being made, but I have no heard whether he'll work with us this week."

Beckham has been bothered by the hamstring since the start of training camp, and it is not yet clear if he is expected to play at all in the preseason. 


Lions begin trimming roster, cut six

(4:15 pm ET) The Lions have until Tuesday to cut their roster down to 75 men, and they began their selections Saturday by cutting six players.

The Lions released offensive linemen Alex Bullard and A.J. Dalton; defensive linemen Gregory Hickman and Kris Redding; running back Steven Miller; and wide receiver Conner Vernon


Rashaan Melvin, Major Wright unable to play Saturday

T.J. Jones hits Reserve/PUP list

(3:44 pm ET) The Lions placed wide receiver T.J. Jones on the regular season Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, as a result of a lingering shoulder injury, the team announced. Jones will have to sit out the first six weeks of the season before he may be activated. 

Bucs list six as inactive Saturday

(3:43 pm ET) The Buccaneers unveiled their inactives list for Saturday's preseason game against the Bills, featuring a handful of injured players who will not suit up.

Running back Mike James (shoulder) and defensive lineman William Gholston (shoulder) are both inactive, along with running back Chares Sims (ankle), defensive back Danny Gorrer, defensive lineman Da'Quan Bowers and defensive back Mike Jenkins


Bills announce inactives for Saturday

(3:35 pm ET) The Bills inactive list for the third preseason game against the Buccaneers Saturday featured eight names, the team announced before kickoff.

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins, defensive backs Mario Butler, Bobby Felder and Jonathan Meeks, defensive linemen Kyle Williams and Alan Branch, tight end Tony Moeaki, and offensive lineman Chris Williams were not in uniform for Saturday's game. 


Sammy Watkins sits out Saturday with rib injury

(3:30 pm ET) Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins was ultimately unable to play in the third preseason game against the Buccaneers, as he continues to deal with a rib injury.

Watkins took part in some limited drills during the week, but does not appear to have done any contact work yet. He injured his ribs in the team's last preseason game, but there is no indication this injury is expected to keep him out when the regular season starts. 


Report: Packers lose B.J. Raji for season

(2:42 pm ET) Packers defensive lineman B.J. Raji will miss the entirety of the 2014 season due to a torn right biceps, ESPN.com reports Saturday.

Raji suffered the injury during Friday's preseason game, and tests confirmed the worst-case scenario Saturday, according to the report. Raji returned to the Packers this offseason on a one-year deal worth $4 million. 


Gabe Ikard will need knee surgery, wioll miss season
