Jamaal Charles sits out practice due to ankle injury

(12:52 pm ET) Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was held out of practice Wednesday after suffering a high ankle sprain Sunday. If Charles is inactive Week 3 against the Dolphins, then Knile Davis is expected to start at running back for Kansas City.

Rolando McClain dealing with groin injury

Roddy White questionable for TNF

Positive sign for Andre Ellington

(12:26 pm ET) Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said he hopes running back Andre Ellington's foot injury has improved to the point where he can practice Thursday, reports the Sacramento Bee. In the first two weeks, Ellington was only able to practice on Fridays.

Arizona is preparing to host the 49ers on Sunday. Despite his injury, Ellington is averaging 5.1 yards per carry.


Shaun Hill not expected to practice Wednesday

(12:13 pm ET) Rams quarterback Shaun Hill (thigh) probably won't practice Wednesday but might be able to do limited work Thursday, coach Jeff Fisher told ESPN.com. Fisher reiterated that if Hill is healthy, he'll start Sunday against the Cowboys.

However, the team could choose to hold out Hill because the Rams have a Week 4 bye and third-stringer Austin Davis played well in the Week 2 win at Tampa Bay.


Andy Mulumba out for season with torn ACL

Report: Greg Hardy could land on Exempt List

(11:58 am ET) The Panthers and reps for defensive end Greg Hardy met Wednesday to discuss putting Hardy on the Exempt/Commissioner's Permission List, which would make Hardy ineligible until further notice, reports NFL.com. Hardy was found guilty by a judge on charges of assault on a female and communicating threats, and awaits a November jury trial.

Cardinals planning to start Drew Stanton vs. 49ers

(11:42 am ET) Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said quarterback Carson Palmer's status hasn't changed and that backup Drew Stanton is in line to start Sunday against the 49ers, reports the Bay Area News Group. Palmer has a bruised nerve in his throwing shoulder.

Stanton completed 14 of 29 throws for 167 yards in the Week 2 win at the Giants.
