Ankle injury hampered Chris Givens most of last season

"It’s been the longest offseason of my life,” Givens said at the start of the offseason conditioning program. "It’s just a constant reminder every day of what I didn’t accomplish — all because I got in my own way. So I’ve been waiting for this day for the longest (time)."

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11:17 am ET) Bills quarterback EJ Manuel, who dealt with injuries and inconsistency as a rookie, told the Associated Press he's ready to take a big step forward. "I definitely agree there's a lot out there for myself as a quarterback to get better," he said at the team's voluntary conditioning program. "I had some success. And I had some bad games as well. It's obvious."

Manuel said he's not limited in any way by last year's knee injuries and that he feels better prepared for the 2014 season.

"I'm eager about it. I'm excited," he said. "I know there is a lot of area for me to grow. That's why I took these last four months to allow that growth."
