Cowboys dump boatload of players to reach 53-man roster

(4:18 pm ET) The Cowboys have sliced their roster down to 53 with a slew of moves on Saturday.

The have released the following offensive players: wide receivers Jamar Newsome, LaRon Byrd and Dezmon Briscoe, guards Stephen Goodin and Uche Nwaneri, running backs Ryan Williams, Phillip Tanner and D.J. Adams, tackle Josh Aladenoye, center Ronald Patrick and tight end Asa Watson.

Among the defenders they let go are linemen Kenneth Boatright, Dartwan Bush and Caesar Rayford, cornerback Terrance Mitchell, safety Ryan Smithl and linebackers Dontravis Sapp, Will Smith and Keith Smith.

The Cowboys also waived/injured linebacker Orie Lemon and defensive tackle Zach Minter while placing safety Jakar Hamilton and cornerback Orlando Scandrick on the reserve/suspended list.


Anthony Spencer freed from PUP list

(4:07 pm ET) Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer has been activated off the PUP list after missing almost all of 2013 and the entire preseason following microfracture surgery on his knee last October.

Spencer has been a mainstay on the Dallas defense since arriving in 2007. He contributed to a career-high 95 tackles in 2012.


Marcus Burley swapped from Indianapolis to Seattle

(4:02 pm ET) The Seahawks have acquired cornerback Marcus Burley from the Colts in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2015 draft.

Burley found his way onto four different NFL rosters in 2013 without playing a down.


Colts cuts knock down roster to required 53

(3:57 pm ET) The Colts have pared down their roster to 53 on Saturday by cutting 17 players and making other moves.

The offensive players on the list are running back David Fluellen, quarterback Chandler Harnish, wide receivers Ryan Lankford and Josh Lenz, center FN Lutz, tight ends Weslye Saunders and Erik Swoope and guard Josh Walker.

The defensive players let go by Indianapolis are ends Gannon Conway and Tyler Hoover, linebackers Rob Ruggiero, Kelvin Sheppard, Phillip Hunt and Andrew Jackson, safety Dewey McDonald, tackles Brandon McKinney and Nnamdi Obukwelu and cornerback Sheldon Price.

The Colts waived/injured tackle Matt Hall and safety Delano Howell and placed linebacker Robert Mathis on the reserve/suspended list.


Bengals make flurry of moves Saturday

(3:46 pm ET) The Bengals made a slew of moves Saturday to pare their roster down to the required 53 for the regular season.

Among those moves was the placement of guard Trey Hopkins on the reserve/injured list with a leg issue. Rookie quarterback AJ McCarron was put on the reserve/non-football injury list with a shoulder problem.

The Bengals also cut the following offensive players: tackles Dan France and Will Svitek, wide receivers Colin Lockett and Cobi Hamilton, center Trevor Robinson and running backs James Wilder and Nikita Whitlock.

Defenders waived by the Bengals include safety Danieal Manning, cornerbacks Onterio McCalebb and Victor Hampton, tackles Devon Still and David King and ends Sam Montgomery and Dontay Moch.

Cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris will begin serving a two-game drug suspension handed dowsn by the league.


Delano Howell waived/injured list by Colts

(3:34 pm ET) Free safety Delano Howell has been waived/injured list by the Colts.

Howell has been plagued by a serious neck injury. He showed promise in limited opportunities with Indianapolis last season.


It's official: Jon Beason off PUP list

(3:30 pm ET) As anticipated, Giants linebacker Jon Beason has been activated off the PUP list. Beason has been sidelined since June with a foot injury.

Beason thrived in his first season in the Big Apple last year by contributing to 93 tackles in 12 games.


Greg Little can't survive cut by Raiders

(3:23 pm ET) Veteran receiver Greg Little got off to a strong start this preseason with the Raiders, but it has ended badly. He has been cut.

Little, who was waived last year by the Browns after a severe case of the dropsies, had his production weakened in each of his first three seasons in Cleveland.


Report: Bills ready to part with T.J. Graham

(3:20 pm ET) What had been anticipated appears to be on the verge of becoming a reality - the Bills are planning on cutting wide receiver T.J. Graham, per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan.

The team's third-round draft pick in 2012 has not taken full advantage of his opportunity. He has 54 catches for 683 yards and three touchdowns in his first two years combined.


Cowboys snag Lavar Edwards from Tennessee

(3:14 pm ET) The Cowboys have acquired third-year defensive end Lavar Edwards from the Titans for a conditional seventh-round pick, ESPN has reported.

Edwards played in seven games last year with one start. He finished the season with five tackles and four assists.
