Cardinals' Arians: Suspended Daryl Washington a 'waste of breath'

(6/2/2015) Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington is suspended for at least a year after violating the league's substance abuse policy. 

Coach Bruce Arians is taking an "out of sight, out of mind" approach to the situation. 

"Until he becomes a Cardinal again,"  Arians recently told The Arizona Republic, "It's a waste of breath."


Pressure off for Packers' Randall Cobb, after new contract

(6/2/2015) Offseason workouts are much more relaxed for Packers' WR Randall Cobb this season. 

Cobb was worried about his contract status last season, but after signing a four-year, $40 million extension, that concern is gone as OTAs begin. 

"That pressure is released," Cobb said, per the Journal Sentinel. "I don’t have to worry about those things. I can focus on continuing to work on my craft and do different things and just get better."


Steelers sign draft pick Gerod Holliman

(6/2/2015) The Steelers signed seventh-round draft pick Gerod Holliman to a four-year contract on Tuesday, per NFL.com.

Holliman won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top collegiate defensive back, last year at Louisville. 

With Holliman's signing, the Steelers have all eight draft picks under contract. 


Earl Thomas a surprise participant at Seahawks OTA

(6/2/2015) Safety Earl Thomas was able to participate in the Seahawks' OTA session on Tuesday, an unexpected surprise for the team, per ESPN

Thomas suffered a separated shoulder in the NFC Championship Game and had surgery in February. He isn't expected back until training camp. 

Thomas was able to take part in position drills at the start of practice, however. 


Victor Cruz running routes at Giants' OTAs

(6/2/2015) Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is not participating in drills at the team's OTAs, as he continues to recover from the torn patellar tendon that ended last season. 

Cruz is working one-on-one with a strength and conditioning coach at practice, however. On Tuesday, Cruz was able to run routes and catch passes from the assistant, per NFL.com.


Browns pick up Tory Slater on waivers, cut Rodman Noel

(6/2/2015) The Browns were awarded defensive lineman Tory Slater on waivers, the team announced on Tuesday. 

Seattle signed Slater as an undrafted free agent out of West Georgia and cut him after a month. 

To make room, the Browns cut linebacker Rodman Noel, an undrafted free agent from NC State. 


Brandon Harris suffers torn ACL for Titans

(6/2/2015) Titans cornerback Brandon Harris tore the ACl in his left knee during OTAs on Tuesday, per The Tennessean

Harris had 11 tackles and three pass breakups in 11 games last season. He'll likely need surgery and will miss the season. 


Derek Carr does light throwing for Raiders

(6/2/2015) Raiders quarterback Derek Carr threw some short passes at the start of Tuesday's practice, but he still isn't taking on a normal workload, at least for the portions of practice open to the media. 

Carr is recovering from an injury to a finger on his throwing hand. Coach Jack Del Rio didn't give a timetable on his recovery. "He's doing well," Del Rio, per ESPN. "We will do what we can when we can."

Left tackle Donald Penn added that he was "not concerned at all" about Carr's injury. 


Texans' Andre Hal moves from corner to safety

(6/2/2015) Andre Hal is learning a new position in his second NFL offseason. 

Hal played cornerback for the Texans as a rookie last year, getting 15 tackles and four pass defenses.

This year, Hal has been working at safety.

"He’s done some good things at safety over the first four OTAs that we’ve had," coach Bill O'Brien said, per HoustonTexans.com.

"I’m trying to do whatever I can to make the team," Hal said. "We need some help at safety. We lost a couple guys. I’m just trying to step up and help the team." 


Report: Texans sign veteran DE Brandon Deaderick

(6/2/2015) The Texans have signed defensive end Brandon Deaderick, a source has told the National Football Post.

Deaderick has racked up significant playing time for three different teams, including New Orleans last season.
