Jerrell Freeman skipping Colts' voluntary workouts
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3:29 pm ET) Colts linebacker Jerrell Freeman was a no-show at the team's offseason workouts that started on Monday.

Freeman is a restricted free agent and still hasn't signed his offer from the team, per the Indy Star. The Colts offered a one-year $2.35 million deal that would require a second-round pick as compensation from any team that signs Freeman.

Freeman has until Friday to get an offer from another team. The Colts workouts are voluntary, so there will be no penalty for Freeman missing them.

Browns players didn't know Josh Gordon wasn't allowed to drink
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3:23 pm ET) Cornerback Joe Haden said that Browns players didn't know that WR Josh Gordon wasn't allowed to drink alcohol.

Gordon's return to the NFL was under the condition that he stay away from alcohol.

Gordon, Haden and several teammates flew to Las Vegas on a private plane following the regular season. Gordon had several drinks on the flight and was tested by the NFL when the plane landed and was subsequently suspended for the 2015 season

"If I knew he couldn't have a drink, everybody would have tried to ... you know what I'm saying ... it wouldn't have been that," Haden said following Tuesday's OTA, per ESPN. "Josh Gordon, he's a grown man and sometimes you got to know what decisions you make."

Gordon has said he thought the alcohol ban expired at the end of the season. Haden went on to say that he thought the ban was unfair.

Smith was entering the final year of his current contract with Baltimore. He totaled 28 tackles with one interception in eight games last season. In his first four season, Smith has played just one full year, playing 47 of a possible 64 games. He's totaled 140 tackles with five interceptions in those seasons.

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

Panthers RB Stewart could be featured in 2015
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1:44 pm ET) Though Panthers coach Ron Rivera has stated he would like to continue using a two-back system, the loss of DeAngelo Williams to Pittsburgh has Jonathan Stewart as the featured back at the moment. Stewart can sense the difference.

"It's going to be weird," he told the team website. "Just coming up here today for the first team workouts and my locker buddy was gone after seven years. Obviously, it's different, but it's part of the business.

"It's a different situation with what transpired this offseason. When things like that happen, it opens opportunities for other people."

Steward seemed to earn the opportunity late last season to be featured. He rushed for 486 yards on 91 carries over the last five games.

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles hopes weight loss leads to improved season
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(1:35 pm ET) Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles admitted Tuesday that he was overweight when the 2014 season ended, reports the team's official website.

"When I left here, I was king of fat," he said.

When the 2014 season concluded, Bortles said he was around 250 pounds, but his work in the offseason has him down to 238 pounds.

Along with less wear and tear on his body, Bortles said he worked on his footwork to help alleviate stress on his arm.

"My arm kind of deteriorated at the end of the season," he said, per the Associated Press.
