Colts have 10 former OL starters on roster
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4:44 pm ET) The Colts will have a very deep offensive line for OTAs. Currently, the team's roster features 10 players that have started in the NFL, per Colts.com

The Colts will have battle for starting spots at center and on the right side of the line.

Khaled Holmes enters the offseason as the starting center, but he'll be pushed by Jonotthan Harrison, who started 10 games last season.

At right guard, offseason acquisition Todd Herremans has the inside track, but he'll compete with Hugh Thornton, a veteran of 20 NFL starts.

Gosder Cherilus, returning from knee and groin injuries that landed him on injured reserve last season, will start OTAs as the right tackle. Joe Reitz and Ulrick John will compete for the job.

Panthers OT Jonathan Martin excited about new opportunity
by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com
(4:42 pm ET) Panthers offensive tackle Jonathan Martin is looking forward to being a part of the team, reports the team's official website. He also believes that being with the Panthers is an ideal fit.

"I'm excited to be a part of a team that's had a lot of success recently," Martin said. "I know a little bit about coach Ron Rivera and (offensive line) coach (John) Matsko and I'm excited about working with them and being successful here."

Martin, a former second-round draft choice of the Dolphins, was surprised by the fact that he only spent one year with the 49ers.

"It was a little surprising not being in San Francisco for another year, but that's the nature of the business," Martin said. "I'm glad I got another opportunity. I'm excited to be a part of this group."

Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman likes the experience that Martin brings to the team.

"Our goal is to build the strongest roster possible and add competition at every position,"Gettleman said. "Jonathan brings quality experience to our offensive line, having started 32 games in his career at both tackle spots."

Martin wants to become a better player, and he appreciates the opportunity given to him by the Panthers.

"At this point it is firmly in the past," Martin said. "I want to have a successful career playing football. I'm lucky to have gotten an opportunity here in Carolina."

by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com
(4:32 pm ET) Linebacker Philip Wheeler is scheduled to visit with the 49ers on Monday, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Wheeler was released by the Dolphins earlier this month, saving the team $3 million in cap space.

In seven seasons with the Colts, Raiders and Dolphins, the 30-year-old has recorded 493 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, 15 passes defensed and four forced fumbles.

Patriots' Chandler Jones denies that he's on crutches after surgery
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4:28 pm ET) Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones denied a report by ESPN that he was on crutches after offseason surgery.

Jones battled a hip problem last season and was reportedly rehabbing at Gillette Stadium after getting the injury surgically repaired.

Jones responded by posting a video on Instagram showing him walking without the aid of crutches and the message, "Don't believe everything you read."

Redskins' Gruden content with right guard spot
by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com
(4:24 pm ET) Redskins head coach Jay Gruden likes having both Chris Chester and Spencer Long available to play at the right guard position, reports ESPN.

“Right now I see them both on our roster and I see two good right guards, I really do,” Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. “I feel good about that spot.”

Gruden had high praise for Long, who the Redskins drafted in the third round of the 2014 draft.

“We expect Spencer to have an excellent offseason, come in in better shape,” Gruden said. “When you go from your rookie year to your second year, that’s usually the biggest jump you have to make as a player. It probably goes the same with head coaching, too. It’s a big jump. You get your feet wet, you understand what’s asked of you, how important it is to be a pro, what type of preparation. All the things that go into being a professional you learn as a rookie and then in the second year you feel more comfortable.”

Long had an adjustment period when learning to block in the team's outside zone scheme. Although he only saw 16 snaps last season, he wants to contribute to the team in any way possible.

“Obviously you want to play as much as you can,” Long said. “But I’ll do what this team asks me to do. If that’s playing a backup role, so be it. I’m trying to get to that starting spot but who isn’t? As far as this year, I learned a lot and grew a lot as a rookie. I’ve got a better feel for it.”

Report: Stefen Wisniewski had offseason shoulder surgery
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3:35 pm ET) Center Stefen Wisniewski played part of last season with a torn labrum and had surgery on the injured shoulder during the offseason, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Wisniewski's recovery could be part of the reason that the free agent hasn't signed with a team yet, after his contract with the Raiders expired.

Wisniewski has visited the Seahawks and Buccaneers. The Rams, Chiefs and Bears are also reported to have interest in signing him.

The deal keeps Ryans under contract to the team through the 2016 season.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Ryans receives a $2.5 million signing bonus, and his 2015 salary is reduced from $6.9 million to about $2 million, giving the Eagles more salary cap flexibility.
