04/24/12WRJerome SimpsonSuspension While the Vikings will deal with receiver Jerome Simpson missing the first three games of the year, they're ultimately happy with his arrival in town. Minnesota's been looking for a legit deep-speed receiver for several years, and according to offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, it has one in Simpson. "He's a legitimate split end," Musgrave told KSTP-AM. "He has speed to threaten down the field and also get in and out of breaks and beat man coverage." (Updated 05/18/2012)
04/16/12WRJordan ShipleyKnee Jordan Shipley posted on Twitter that he's been cleared by noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews to resume full team activities without any restrictions. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Shipley still needs to be cleared by the Bengals' doctors before hitting the field in late May. Shipley suffered an ACL tear in the season opener last year. 04/11/12LBKeith RiversWrist The Giants traded for linebacker Keith Rivers, giving the Bengals a fifth-round pick in exchange. A wrist injury kept him sidelined for all of 2011. (Updated 04/11/2012)
03/22/12WRAndre CaldwellGroin Wide receiver Andre Caldwell signed a two-year deal with Denver on Wednesday. Caldwell ended last season on the injured reserve because of a groin injury but he's expected to be ready for the start of the season. In 13 games for the Bengals last season, Caldwell caught 37 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns. He has 124 career receptions in four seasons. Caldwell said that Peyton Manning signing with Denver was a big factor. "He's a veteran quarterback who knows how to win games. He knows how to put players in positions to be their best. He gets the best out of his receivers," Caldwell said. "It got real serious after they got Peyton. It heated up and I was all on board after they signed Peyton." (Updated 03/21/2012)
