Dolphins running back Jerome Messam will have his second knee surgery in five months. The former CFL rushing standout posted the news on Twitter, with the Palm Beach Post confirming that Messam originally hurt the meniscus in his left knee last November while playing with the Edmonton Eskimos. Messam is 6-foot-4 and over 240 pounds, a giant for a running back. He rushed for 1,057 yards and six touchdowns in 18 games for Edmonton last year. (Updated 05/15/2012)

The Palm Beach Post reports that Dolphins receiver Davone Bess was healthy and practicing Tuesday during voluntary workouts, but the knee injury he suffered in the fourth quarter of the season-ending 17-13 win over the New York Jets last year turned out to be worse than previously reported. Bess said he suffered both a second-degree torn MCL and a partially torn ACL when he was dragged down by Jets linebacker Bart Scott following a 2-yard completion with just more than eight minutes left in the game. "Luckily, the ligaments were in the right place where they could heal by themselves, so I didn't have to have any surgery," Bess said. (Updated 04/25/2012)
