In an interview with CBSSports.com, NFL Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson said he "watched a little bit" last season as Vikings running back Adrian Peterson came within 9 yards of his single-season rushing record set in 1984. "When he got so close, I had to watch some of it," Dickerson said. "But it was good. Its always good when somebody gets close but not break. Close but not break. ... I asked him, you want that record dont you? He said yeah, you know I want it. But it was good for the league, it was good for me, it was good for him. Hes a great player, a great guy and I hope he gets close again -- without breaking it." Dickerson said Peterson could again challenge for the record this season, but it will be tough. "Now that he got so close, the defense is going to really be after him," Dickerson said. "Theyre going to really scheme for him." (Updated 04/15/2013)
Vikings receiver Greg Childs has indeed suffered two torn patella tendons in his knees, ending his rookie season prematurely. Surgery is expected soon. Childs appeared to sustain the injury while going up for a pass near the endzone and landing hard toward the end of Saturday's practice. He was carted off the field. You hate to see any player go down for any reason, and Greg has struggled with injuries, as we know, in college, said Frazier on Saturday. (Updated 08/05/2012)
While speaking at the introductory press conference for new Seahawks receiver Percy Harvin, head coach Pete Carroll spoke glowingly of his new player's versatility and promises to take advantage of it. "He is such a threat," Carroll said. "As a wide receiver, he can run and catch the football as well as anybody. But he has a knack for running with the football after the catch that very few players have. Its because he's so aggressive and hes such a tough football player. Hes just a gifted ballplayer, and he understands and feels the game so well you can play him where you can hand the ball to him. Percy played in the backfield in college. He played in the backfield for the Vikings. That's a tremendous spread of talent that he brings to our club. He will get the ball in his hands a number of ways and he's going to return kicks for us, too." (Updated 03/13/2013)
