05/24/12WRHakeem NicksFoot ESPN reports that a source familiar with the broken bone in Hakeem Nicks' foot says the receiver might miss four-to-six weeks recovering from the injury and not the 12-week timeframe the Giants said on Thursday. Nicks fractured the fifth metatarsal of his right foot during an OTA practice. The team is hoping to have him back at some point during training camp and the preseason. (Updated 05/25/2012)
05/23/12RBAndre BrownSuspended Giants running back Andre Brown is appealing his four-game suspension for using performance enhancing drugs, claiming he simply failed to inform the league of his adderall prescription. He is preparing as if he'll play in Week 1. "Hopefully when the appeal process goes through, I'll be happy with any games (taken off the suspension)," he said. "I'd be fine with two (games off)." (Updated 05/23/2012)
05/23/12DBBrian WitherspoonKnee The Giants have signed cornerback Dante Hughes to replace cornerback Brian Witherspoon, who tore his ACL for the second time in as many years on Wednesday. Witherspoon was waived/injured. Hughes spent two seasons with the Colts and three with the Chargers before trying out at the Giants rookie mini-camp two weeks ago. Hughes' best season came last year when he had 42 tackles and three passes defensed for the Chargers. (Updated 05/24/2012)
04/30/12LBJonathan GoffKnee The Redskins added more depth to its linebacker corps, announcing the signing of former New York Giants linebacker Jonathan Goff. Goff missed the entire 2011 season with a torn ACL but started all 16 games in 2010 with 20 starts in his career. He was a fifth-round choice in 2008 and is considered a smart player, which will help make a transition to a 3-4. It's uncertain when he'll be fully recovered from his injury. (Updated 04/30/2012)
03/13/12DBTerrell ThomasKnee The Giants have agreed to terms with cornerback Terrell Thomas, according to a report by ESPN. Thomas tore his ACL last August in a preseason game and missed the entire 2011 season. (Updated 03/13/2012)
03/09/12RBAhmad BradshawFoot The Giants selected Virginia Tech running back David Wilson with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2012 draft, and he will be the No. 2 running back in New York behind Ahmad Bradshaw. Wilson will replace the departed Brandon Jacobs, who is now in San Francisco. (Updated 04/26/2012)
02/29/12WRDomenik HixonKnee The Giants suffered a bad break when receiver Hakeem Nicks broke a bone in his foot during a late May OTA. That means Nicks won't be ready to even practice until mid-August, opening the door for receivers Rueben Randle, Ramses Barden and Domenik Hixon to see some extra reps with the first-team offense. Hixon is coming off of two ACL tears in as many years, while Barden has fought inconsistency since being drafted in 2009. (Updated 05/24/2012)
02/24/12DLJustin TuckShoulder Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said that DE Justin Tuck had shoulder surgery after the Super Bowl. Tuck said on Twitter that he's fine and expects to be ready for the start of the season. (Updated 02/24/2012)
02/08/12TEJake BallardKnee The Bergen County Record reports that Giants tight end Jake Ballard (knee) saidd he might not be back this season, saying, "My best chance would be midseason, if at all." Ballard underwent microfracture surgery to repair the cartilage as well as surgery to repair his torn ACL in February after he was hurt in the Super Bowl. (Updated 04/20/2012)
02/06/12TETravis BeckumKnee Giants general manager Jerry Reese told SiriusXM NFL Radio that he expects tight end Travis Beckum to begin the 2012 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Beckum tore his right ACL in the Giants' Super Bowl win. (Updated 03/26/2012)
