04/10/12DLKedric GolstonKnee The Redskins re-signed defensive end Kedric Golston, according to The Sports Xchange. Gholston had 1.5 sacks in nine games last season before landing on injured reserve, but will return for a seventh season in Washington. Golston lost his right-side starting job to free-agent signee Stephen Bowen last summer, and 2011 second-round draft choice Jarvis Jenkins will claim serious playing time in 2012 after missing last year with a torn ACL. "I've pretty much been here ever since the Redskins drafted me (out of Georgia in the sixth round in 2006)," Golston said in February. "This is home. We love it here. My daughter is in school here. My wife has her business. I take a certain pride in being a part of this organization and I want to be here for the turnaround." (Updated 04/10/2012)
03/29/12WRLeonard HankersonHip Second-year receiver Leonard Hankerson said his surgically-repaired hip is not yet 100 percent, but he's hopeful he'll return to full workouts within a couple weeks. However, he could not say if he'll be able to fully participate in the June 11-13 minicamp. "We wanted to take the process slow," Hankerson said. "We wanted to see if it was going to heal right and it didn't. So we had to get surgery. It's getting better. I feel it getting better every week." (Updated 05/07/2012)
02/16/12TEChris CooleyKnee Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said tight end Chris Cooley's knee, which limited him to five games last season, has no swelling. He said Cooley probably feels as well as he has in several years. "Hopefully he's full speed once we get started with our (organized team activities) and he can stay injury-free," Shanahan said. (Updated 04/25/2012)
01/31/12RBTim HightowerKnee Redskins running back Tim Hightower is grateful for his opportunity to stay with the team after tearing his ACL last October. And while it remains to be seen just how much playing time he'll have -- doctors have yet to clear him for football activities according to the Washington Post -- Hightower's focus is just on getting his legs back to normal. "That's the least of my worries right now," he said about regaining the starting job. "My focus is on improving each day and really committing to getting into the best shape I can. That stuff will get determined in due time when it should be. I've just got to stay determined." (Updated 05/16/2012)
01/12/12LBBrian OrakpoShoulder Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo underwent left shoulder surgery this week after getting hurt in Week 17 against Philadelphia. "Just had successful shoulder surgery in Pensacola," Orakpo posted on Twitter. "(T)hanks everybody for their support! Now time for a speedy recovery." (Updated 01/12/2012)
