Daryl Washington
News
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said he doesn't consider suspended linebacker Daryl Washington a part of the team until he's officially reinstated by the NFL, per the Boston Globe.

"I don't even think about him. He's not a part of our team until he's reinstated," Arians said during Thursday's combine press conference.

Washington was suspended for the entire season after a repeat violation of the league's substance abuse policy. He remains on probation for a domestic violence incident in May 2013.

Kevin Minter
News
Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said Wedneday that the team "needs to address" the linebacker position in this year's draft, adding that 2013 second-round pick Kevin Minter has to elevate his game, The Times-Picayune reports.

"We drafted Kevin Minter in the second round a few years back and we have high expectations for Kevin," Keim said Wednesday. "But he's got to step up his game. There are two types of linebackers. There are the mike linebackers, the heavy-legged guys, the more downhill thumper types. Then you have the more athletic, will linebacker types who can run and cover and may not be as physical at the point of attack. Those are two necessary positions for us that we need to address."

Minter recorded 45 tackles in 2014 while making five starts in his 16 appearances. Coach Bruce Arians also addressed the linebacker Thursday, saying that the team needs to  "continue to develop Kevin Minter into a better player."

Patrick Peterson
News
Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson would like to keep teammate Antonio Cromartie in the secondary. However, he understands that may be a difficult task to pull off.

Speaking to ESPN.com, Peterson said that Cromartie, set to become a free agent in March, has talked about possibly heading back to the Jets, where he played from 2010-2013. Making the Jets more attractive is the fact that former Cardinals defenisve coordinator Todd Bowles took over as the new head coach.

"That's all he talks about is freaking New York," Peterson said. "I'm definitely trying to get him to stay and we'll see what happens."

In a previous interview with the NFL Network, Cromartie made mention that he will keep his options open this offseason.

"I'm leaving the door open," Cromartie said. "Right now, until the Super Bowl is over, I'm still an Arizona Cardinal. Until they come to me about a contract, I’m still an Arizona Cardinal. Once March 10 at 4 o'clock hits, March 12 at 9 a.m. hits, and no one's offered me a contract, then I'm free game. And I'm open to anything to go out and try to win a championship and help any organization."

Jonathan Dwyer
News
Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer pleaded guilty Thursday in Maricopa County (Ariz.) Superior Court to a single count of disorderly conduct pertaining to his domestic violence case, according to The Arizona Republic.

Dwyer was sentenced to 18 months of probation and community service following the plea, according to a court spokesman.

The 25-year-old Dwyer was arrested Sept. 17 for a July 21 incident in which he allegedly head-butted his wife in the face and broke her nose after she refused his sexual advances and bit his lip, according to reports taken at the time.

Dwyer's wife told police she reported the incident in September because she feared for their child's safety after seeing reports of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's arrest on child-abuse charges.

Fells only had five catches for 71 yards all season prior to that catch.

Drew Stanton
News
Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton is on the road to recovery. The 30-year-old quarterback is in the middle of a rehab program to be able to get back on the field this spring

"I’ll be full strength by time we start offseason program," Stanton said at Tuesday’s Super Bowl Media Day. "I don’t really need to do anything now so just kinda let my body rest to get away from the game a little bit, spend time with my family and get refreshed for next season."

Stanton said he would have needed one more week before trying to give it a go in the playoffs with the knee injury.

"I was going to need at least another week to have a shot," Stanton said. "That was my hope. So, I was trying to find ways to get ready to go, talking to the training staff and talking to guys (about) what I can be doing when we would get back from that flight from Carolina. It didn’t work out unfortunately, but it was a difficult situation the way everything ended. At the same time, I think that the building blocks are starting to fall into place for us."

Injury
Biceps - IR. Out for season
Logan Thomas
News
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians still believes in young quarterback Logan Thomas. Arians didn't want to ruin his confidence last season after being forced into action with multiple injuries to Arizona quarterbacks, reports the team's website.

"He's going to get a ton of work and those reps are invaluable," Arians said. "Just in decision-making, how fast you're getting it out of your hand, where you're going with it, where you're going when 'one' and 'two' are still covered. Are you still scrambling around or are you going to find your outlets? That growth process comes strictly from reps."

Arians still has a plan for the second-year pro.

"We drafted him for two years from now, not November," Arians said. "It just so happened his number got called (earlier.) I was not going to let him fail (in San Francisco) because once you fail those scars never go away.

"It's very hard to get the guys back in the locker room if you cost them the playoffs. I just wasn't going to put him in that situation. Right or wrong, it just was my decision."

Cardinals wideout Larry Fitzgerald is active Week 17 against the 49ers.

Fitzgerald entered the contest listed as probable due to a knee injury. He was never a serious candidate to miss the game.

The club will also have Lorenzo Alexander, Jaron Brown, Calais Campbell, Rashad Johnson, Ted Larsen, Tyrann Mathieu and Matt Shaughnessy for the contest. All seven players were also considered probable.

Deone Bucannon, John Carlson and Dan Williams will all attempt to play through injuries. They were all listed as questionable coming into the game.

Calais Campbell
News
Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell underwent successful sports hernia surgery and expects to be ready for offseason workouts in a couple months, reports the team's website.

"The first couple of days I couldn’t walk,” said Campbell, 28. “It’s still a little painful to walk but I’m getting there.”

Campbell recorded seven sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery to go with 58 tackles in 14 games last season.

Michael Floyd
News
Cardinals wideout Michael Floyd ended the regular season with a monster game against the 49ers.

Floyd hauled in eight passes for 153 yards and two scores. On his first touchdown, Floyd got behind the defense and was wide open on a flea flicker. His second touchdown was even more impressive. With time running out in the second quarter, Floyd pulled down a 41 yard touchdown from Ryan Lindley. Again, Floyd managed to beat his defender, and was able to get into the end zone as he was being tackled. He was clearly Lindley's favorite option, receiving a team-high 12 targets.

Floyd's numbers took a step back in his third season. He finished with 47 catches for 841 yards. With his big game, Floyd managed to set a career-high with six touchdowns.

Floyd will take on the Panthers in the playoffs next week. Carolina is a -4.5 point favorite.

Darren Woodard
News
The Rams have issued a series of cuts to reach the mandated roster of limit of 53 for the regular season.

Those on the offensive side of the ball are wide receivers Emory Blake, Austin Franklin and Justin Veltung, linemen Sean Hooey, Mitchell Van Dyk, Travis Bond and Brandon Washington, quarterback Garrett Gilbert and tight end Brad Smelley.

Sean Weatherspoon
News
Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon was signed by the Cardinals in free agency this offseason. He has high hopes that he'll rebound after rupturing his achilles tendon in 2014 while with the Falcons, according to the team's official website.

“Once it happened, I figured I’d come back from this,” Weatherspoon said. “That’s what I told myself when I was sitting there down and out looking at everything that was happening. I was down, but I was ultimately thinking about the comeback.”

In addition to missing all of the 2014 season, the 27-year-old missed all but seven games in 2013. The linebacker is optimistic that the time off could benefit him on the field.

“Mike Peterson played linebacker in the league for a long time, and he was a guy who took me under his wing in my rookie year in the league,” Weatherspoon said. “He would come out and he would make some plays, and I’d be like, ‘Man, how you still do that after so much time off and not even being the starter anymore, but you’re still able to just go out there and make it happen?’ He said, ‘It’s just like riding a bike.’

“I just have to get back to practicing a little bit more and being on that steady routine, but I definitely think it saved my legs being off of them for the past two years. I’m just looking forward to going out there and trying to reestablish myself as being the player that I am.”

In four years with the Falcons, Weatherspoon recorded 290 total tackles, eight sacks, 15 passes defensed, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
