Lyle Sendlein
News
The Cardinals have nine players listed on the injury report for Week 3. Punter David Zastudil (groin) and linebacker Alex Okafor (thigh) were the only players officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

Deemed questionable were tight end Rob Housler (hip), defensive tackle Frostee Rucker (calf) and quarterback Carson Palmer (shoulder).

Linebacker Kevin Minter (quad), center Lyle Sendlein (ankle), running back Andre Ellington (foot) and linebacker Larry Foote (shoulder) were each ruled probable for Sunday.
Darnell Dockett
News
The Cardinals DST finished sixth in Fantasy points last season while ranking first against the run. This is not that defense.

Arizona lost defensive tackle Darnell Dockett (torn ACL) and linebackers Karlos Dansby (free agency) and Daryl Washington (suspension), among others. That trio accounted for 14 sacks, six interceptions, two touchdowns and a fumble recovery. Linebacker John Abraham (11.5 sacks) reported late to camp following a DUI arrest and at age 36 is unlikely to repeat his 2013 production.

The Cardinals are counting on 34-year-old Larry Foote and unproven Kevin Minter at linebacker. Safety Tyrann Mathieu (knee) is not 100 percent yet. Arizona did add corner Antonio Cromartie to team with superstar Patrick Peterson.

Monday night, Arizona hosts an efficient Chargers' team that gave up the eighth-fewest Fantasy points (7.3 per game) to DSTs last year. Consider the Cardinals DST a low-end starting option at best.

Injury
Knee - IR. Out for season
Daryl Washington
News
Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington has been suspended for the entire 2014 season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He was suspended four games last season for violating the same policy.

"It's completely unacceptable that Daryl has once again put us in this position," Cards general manager Steve Keim said in a statement. "We all know what the consequences are and will deal with them. From a personal standpoint, our hope is that this suspension will give Daryl the opportunity to accept the necessary help and guidance to get his life back on track and we will certainly support him however we can."

Washington had 134 total tackles and nine sacks in 2012 and 75 total hits and three sacks in 12 games last season.

Injury
Suspension - Eligible for reinstatement before 2015 season

Deone Bucannon
News
Cardinals rookie safety Deone Bucannon is ready for the start of the season after missing a good portion of the offseason due to turf toe. The first-round pick led the team with 23 tackles during the preseason and totaled 15 over the final two preseason games.

"He knows his job," head coach Bruce Arians said, per the team's official website. "He plays fearless. He’s more than ready to go. I wanted to get him out of there as soon as I could."

Bucannon said he's getting more comfortable on defense with the more reps he receives.

"Each time I come to the sideline they just tell me little things to watch out for to get more comfortable," Bucannon said. "It really helps when I’m out there. Ty (Mathieu) is right next to me. Every time I come off the field, he asks what I’m seeing. It’s little things for me to get better, and that’s what’s really been helping me.

"I’m understanding the defense better, and what the coaches want out of me, what they expect out of me. That’s allowed me to go out there and play faster for the team."

Jonathan Brown
News
The Cardinals have pared down their roster to 53 on Saturday by cutting 21 players. Arizona cut the following players: RB Zach Bauman, LB Marcus Benard, OL Philip Blake, LB Jonathan Brown, WR Dan Buckner, OL John Estes, DT Bruce Gaston, WR Brittan Golden, TE Andre Hardy, CB Jimmy Legree, CB Bryan McCann, OL Kelvin Palmer, RB Jalen Parmele, DT Isaac Sopoaga, OL Anthony Steen, S Curtis Taylor, LB Adrian Tracy, DT Christian Tupou, S Anthony Walters, CB Teddy Williams and OL Nate Potter.
Ted Larsen
News
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Monday that there's a "really good chance" offensive lineman Ted Larsen will be the team's starting left guard, azcardinals.com reports.

Jonathan Cooper, a first-round pick in 2013, was set to start at the position, but he has remained sidelined with a turf toe injury. General manager Steve Keim called Larsen one of the team's best five linemen in camp thus far. He has been filling in at center with Lyle Sendlein out, but Larsen will likely shift to the left guard position of Sendlein can return to practice as expected this week.

Tony Jefferson
News
Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby, safety Yeremiah Bell and linebacker Dontay Moch were some of the standout players for the defense during a 13-10 win Week 4 at Tampa Bay.

Dansby had a team-high nine tackles -- all solo. Bell totaled seven tackles (four solo, two for loss) and one sack. Moch had two solo tackles, one sack and two quarterback hits.

Other Cardinals defenders who made an impact Sunday were defensive back Tony Jefferson (seven tackles), linebacker Jasper Brinkley (seven tackles) and safety Tyrann Mathieu (six tackles).

Stepfan Taylor
News
Cardinals second-year running back Stepfan Taylor scored his first career touchdown on a 5-yard catch in the fourth quarter of Monday's win over the Chargers. Taylor finished with three catches for 21 yards and added a 5-yard carry.

He'll continue to mix in behind Andre Ellington and Jonathan Dwyer.

Thomas Keiser
News
The Cardinals claimed linebacker Thomas Keiser off waivers from the Chargers. To make room, Arizona waived receiver Walt Powell.

Keiser had 4.5 sacks and 20 tackles in 12 games last season.

Chandler Catanzaro
News
Cardinals rookie kicker Chandler Catanzaro played a key role in his team's 25-14 win Week 2 at N.Y. Giants, booting a career-high four field goals and finishing with 13 points in the victory.

Catanzaro gave Arizona a 10-0 lead with a 49-yard field goal in the first quarter. He then did most of his damage in the fourth quarter, kicking field goals of 32, 33 and 37 yards, as Arizona rallied from a 14-10 deficit.

The rookie made his only extra-point attempt and is 6 for 6 on field goals to begin his NFL career. The Cardinals are back in action Week 3 vs. San Francisco.

Brittan Golden
News
The Cardinals have pared down their roster to 53 on Saturday by cutting 21 players. Larry Fitzgerald
News
You have to be nervous about Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd if Carson Palmer (shoulder) is out again this week. Drew Stanton isn't going to enhance this passing game.

We saw the results in Week 2 at the Giants when Fitzgerald had six catches for 51 yards on 10 targets while Floyd had one catch for 19 yards on six targets. Now, Fitzgerald just missed a touchdown when the play was overturned in the first quarter, but he only has seven catches for 73 yards on 14 targets this season.

He did light up the 49ers in two meetings last year with 12 catches for 230 yards and a touchdown, but we're not confident in him if Stanton starts. He should be considered just a No. 3 receiver in the majority of leagues.

Michael Floyd
News
Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer's absence from the lineup Sunday against the Giants arguably had the biggest impact on receiver Michael Floyd, who finished with just one catch for 19 yards after totaling five catches for 119 yards in the season opener.

Floyd was targeted six times by backup quarterback Drew Stanton, which included the first play of the game that resulted in Floyd's only catch. Floyd was targeted three times in each half.

Paul Fanaika
News
The addition of Jared Veldheer and the return of left guard Jonathan Cooper should make life easier for the Cardinals when they game plan versus opponents this season. Offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin admits that the right side of the line will involve a competition but overall he anticipates a huge jump in efficiency for the front five

" ... [T]he world knows we're looking to put the right side together. There is going to be great competition between Paul Fanaika and Ted Larsen and Earl (Watford)," Goodwin told the Arizona Republic. "Then you have Bobby (Massie), Bradley (Sowell) and along with Nate (Potter). The competition is going to be great and there is still the possibility of the draft, but who knows? It wasn't a great offensive line year last year, but the guys played consistently together and they got better as they went along."
