Da'Norris Searcy
News
Speaking on WGR 550 AM in Buffalo on Friday, Bills general manager Doug Whaley said that the safety who will start in Jarius Byrd's old spot will come off the existing roster. Whaley expects a competition between Duke Williams, Jonathan Meeks and Da'Norris Searcy, ESPN says.

Marcell Dareus
News
Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus issued a statement Wednesday morning announcing his return to training camp after "dealing with a personal matter in Alabama." Dareus thanks the Bills for their support and pledged to focus on earning the trust of his coaches and teammates.

"I have a passion for this game and I want to be here to help this organization achieve its goals," Dareus said. "There are things I need to work on professionally and personally to make sure I can be accountable to myself, my family, this team and this community.  My focus will remain on achieving that goal one day at a time."

Chris Hairston
News
The Bills put right tackle Chris Hairston on the reserve/Non-Football Illness list.

Derek Brim
News
The following players will not dress for the Bills on Friday against the Panthers: defensive back Leodis McKelvin, safety Kenny Ladler, safety Derek Brim, tackle Edawn Coughman and tackle Cordy Glenn.
Anthony Dixon
News
Former 49ers backup running back Anthony Dixon tweeted Friday that he'll sign a deal with the Bills Saturday morning, per The Buffalo News. Dixon, a free agent, visited the team on Friday before reaching an agreement.

He rushed for 56 yards and two touchdown behind Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter with the Niners.
Brandon Spikes
News
With the No. 73 pick in the NFL Draft, the Bills selected linebacker Preston Brown from Louisville.

Brown moved to middle linebacker for the Cardinals in 2012. He was the Cardinals' leading tackler for the second straight season in 2013, amassing 98 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks with a pass breakup, three forced fumbles and a 48-yard fumble return touchdown.

He will likely see time on special teams in 2014, but he could eventually replace Brandon Spikes in 2015 since Spikes is on a one-year deal.

Ross Cockrell
News
On Thursday the Bills signed three members of their 2014 draft class to rookie deals. Those players are Duke cornerback Ross Cockrell , Florida Atlantic linebacker Randell Johnson and Miami (Fla.) offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson .

All three players will battle for roster spots in training camp, with Cockrell specifically contending for playing time as a nickel or dime cornerback.
Thad Lewis
News
Bills quarterback Thad Lewis flip-flopped with Jeff Tuel again during Friday's preseason game against the Panthers.

Lewis worked with the second-team offense this time around and completed 6 of 11 pass attempts for 63 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Tuel entered the game in the third quarter and completed 4 of 5 pass attempts for 24 yards, with a touchdown and an interception.
Scott Chandler
News
Bills tight ends Scott Chandler and Tony Moeaki both returned to action Friday night against the Panthers in preseason action.

Chandler was targeted once in the second drive of the game and was held without a catch. Moeaki, who missed the preseason opener against the Giants because of a hamstring injury, entered the game in the second half but did not receive a target.
Jared Wheeler
News
The Bills claimed center Jared Wheeler off waivers from the Panthers and waived/injured cornerback Brandon Smith.
Kraig Urbik
News
Bills LB Kiko Alonso and OL Kraig Urbik are active Week 15 against the Jaguars.

Alonso is dealing with a knee injury, and was limited in practice this week. Urbik has a foot issue. He did not practice early in the week, but improved to limited practice Friday.

J.J. Unga
News
The Bills have made OG Antoine McClain, CB Brandon Smith, TE Chris Gragg, QB Jeff Tuel, OT J.J. Unga, RB Ronnie Wingo and LB Ty Powell inactive for Week 13 against the Falcons.

None of the seven players were listed on the team's injury report entering the game. They are all healthy scratches.

Marquise Goodwin
News
Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin put his troubled hamstring injury behind him Friday against Panthers.

Goodwin, who missed the Hall of Fame game with the injury, returned to action in the first half with the second-team offense and was targeted twice. He caught an 18-yard pass from Thad Lewis in the second quarter for his only grab of the night.
Ron Brooks
News
The Bills defense is in good shape in Week 7 against the Dolphins, as every player listed on the official injury report was able to take the field Sunday. Defensive linemen Mario Williams (hip) and Kyle Williams (Achilles, illness), defensive back Ron Brooks (foot) and linebacker Manny Lawson (hamstring) were all able to take the field for Sunday's game despite their injuries.
Preston Brown
News
With linebacker Kiko Alonso (ACL) likely done for the year, Bills third-round rookie Preston Brown could win a starting job, reports the Buffalo News. Brown "was outstanding at the team’s voluntary workouts and minicamp," the paper said, and "coaches raved behind the scenes about how well Brown practiced."

Brown led Louisville in tackles in 2013 for the second straight year as he made 98 stops, 12.5 for loss, while adding 4.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. He'll vie with Keith Rivers and Nigel Bradham to replace Alonso.

T.J. Graham
News
Bills receiver T.J. Graham, a third-round pick from 2012, is on the roster bubble, reports WGR550.com.  The 5-11, 188-pounder has three touchdown catches in two seasons.

"Graham has shown minimal improvement since being in the league, and in all his playing time during 2013, did not show enough to the coaching staff," the report said. "The Bills have stacked the bottom of their wide receiver depth chart with tall receivers, and one would have to think they’d like to keep one of those players on the 53-man roster."

Keith Rivers
News
Despite a successful first season in the middle of the Bills defense, Kiko Alonso won't play there in 2014. That's according to Bills GM Doug Whaley, who said on WGR 550 AM that Alonso will move to weak-side linebacker in 2014 with new linebacker Keith Rivers playing at the strong side.

So who will man the middle? The Bills are hosting free-agent candidates but Whaley seems to think that "guys on campus" will get a crack at it first. Ty Powell was someone Whaley named specifically

As for linebacker Manny Lawson, Whaley said he'd like to see him become a "hybrid" player, which ESPN believes is code for a diminishing role

Tori Gurley
News
The Bills have signed receiver Tori Gurley and defensive back Kamaal McIlwan. Both will provide depth as training camp has begun for the team.
Dan Carpenter
News
The Bills could decide to keep two kickers this season with Dan Carpenter and Dustin Hopkins, reports the Buffalo News.

Last year, the Bills drafted Hopkins in the sixth round, but he hurt his groin right before the season began, and Carpenter signed and had a great season. The Bills last month re-signed Carpenter to a four-year contract worth $9.95 million, and Hopkins still is on the roster.

The report says Carpenter could continue to handle field goal and extra point attempts, and Hopkins will be used for kickoffs.

"Would you like to have one guy that can do both? No doubt about it," Bills general manager Doug Whaley said. "But this is a situation where if it makes our team better, we're going to do it. ... Is keeping Dustin Hopkins better for the team that keeping an extra receiver, an extra DB? You juggle that."

Randell Johnson
News
The Bills released tight end Mike Caussin and placed linebacker Randell Johnson and defensive back Leodis McKelvin on the Active/PUP list. Buffalo put linebacker Kiko Alonso on the Active/Non-Football Injury list, while offensive tackle Cordy Glenn and defensive tackle Alan Branch were sent to the Active/Non-Football Illness list.
Injury
Undisclosed - PUP. Questionable for start of regular season

News
Bills defensive end Mario Williams is working his way back into shape following offseason hip surgery, coach Doug Marrone told reporters. Williams had 13 sacks, 38 tackles and a forced fumble last season.
Marcus Easley
News
The Bills have deemed five players as probable for Sunday at New England, including quarterback Thad Lewis (shoulder), who has replaced doubtful EJ Manuel (knee) as the starter, and running back Fred Jackson (ribs).

The others are wideouts Marcus Easley and Marquise Goodwin with knee injuries and defensive tackle Kyle Williams (Achilles).

Fred Jackson
News
Bills running back C.J. Spiller shared first-team reps with Fred Jackson Saturday night against the Steelers in preseason action.

Spiller returned the opening kickoff and took a backseat to Jackson on offense. Both running backs played the entire first half.

Jackson earned the start and was heavily involved on both facets of the offense. He took six handoffs for 27 yards, averaging 4.5 yards per attempt. He caught all of his seven targets for 28 yards. Spiller had six carries for 16 yards, averaging 2.7 yards per attempt. He was not targeted by EJ Manuel in the passing game.
Cyril Richardson
News
The Bills signed offensive lineman Cyril Richardson to a rookie deal, the team announced Friday. Richardson, who is 6-foot-5 and 343 pounds, was Baylor's top offensive lineman last year and was the Bills' fifth-round pick in the draft. He'll compete for playing time this summer.
Ikponmwosa Igbinosun
News
The Bills signed their entire practice squad to reserve/futures contracts: cornerback Mario Butler, offensive tackle Edawn Coughman, quarterback Dennis Dixon, defensive end Ikponmwosa Igbinosun, offensive tackle Jamaal Johnson-Webb, receiver Brandon Kaufman and outside linebacker Jacquies Smith.
Eric Wood
News
Strong safety T.J. Ward warned the Bills that the Browns were targeting quarterback EJ Manuel, according to Buffalo center Eric Wood. Manuel injured his knee on a low hit by secondary mate Tashaun Gipson in the second half of the Cleveland victory on Thursday night.

Bills center Eric Wood told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle that Ward yelled to him, "I told you to warn him we were going to get him" after the hit. It is unknown if Ward was referring to injuring Manuel or merely getting a hard hit on the rookie quarterback.

News
The Bills signed their entire practice squad to reserve/futures contracts: cornerback Mario Butler, offensive tackle Edawn Coughman, quarterback Dennis Dixon, defensive end Ikponmwosa Igbinosun, offensive tackle Jamaal Johnson-Webb, receiver Brandon Kaufman and outside linebacker Jacquies Smith.
Ty Powell
News
The following Bills were ruled as inactive for Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers: Guard Chris Williams, tight end Tony Moeaki, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, linebacker Ty Powell, safety Jonathan Meeks and kicker Dustin Hopkins.
Stephon Gilmore
News
The Bills unveiled a list of players who will not participate in the preseason opener against the Giants in Canton, according to WGR550. The following players will sit out Sunday: defensive back Leodis McKelvin (hip), defensive back Stephon Gilmore (hip), tight end Tony Moeaki (hamstring), tight end Scott Chandler  (groin) and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (hamstring).
Bryce Brown
News
Bills coach Doug Marrone said he prefers to use two running backs, not three. That's presumably bad news for newly-acquired Bryce Brown, who's behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson.

"I don’t know if I want to get it down to three. I’ve never been a guy that has three backs playing in the game," Marrone told ESPN.com. "I’ve always believed, and you guys know, in the two backs. It’ll come down to two backs; the two backs going in there."

Stefan Charles
News
The Bills have signed defensive tackle Stefan Charles off the Tennessee practice squad, the Buffalo News has reported. Charles had been waived by the Titans in their last cuts, but was signed to the practice squad. He has yet to play in an NFL regular season game.
Erik Pears
News
First-year Bills head coach has been impressed with starting right tackle Erik Pears during the preseason.

"Outstanding. He really has (progressed)," Marrone said at his Tuesday press conference. "I’ve seen him really make a jump, especially recent days. He gets a lot of great work. Obviously going against Mario (Williams) and the defensive ends on our team, I think that he’s really upped his production from what you’ve seen when he’s played here in the past. I really think he’s going about it as a pro, he works extremely hard. I work with that group, and I really see him. The funny thing is people look and they’ll say ‘gosh, this guy has been here six years or eight years and he is what he is.’ A lot of times, those players, they can continue to get better. I see him as a guy, even though he’s a veteran, he’s really got a lot better, especially in these past couple of days."

C.J. Spiller
News
Bills general manager Doug Whaley said he has not had any discussions about trading running back C.J. Spiller, according to CBSSports.com NFL Writer Will Brinson.

"We have not been contacted by any team about C.J. Spiller. These rumors are news to me," Whaley said. "It's exciting I guess to you guys because it gives you something to fill the newspaper with. Again, no one, I'll tell you guys and you know I'm a straight shooter. We have not been contacted by any teams.

"I can probably see where people see our depth at running back and try to connect the dots with teams that don't have depth, but, again, nobody has contacted us."

Tony Moeaki
News
The following Bills were ruled as inactive for Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers: Guard Chris Williams, tight end Tony Moeaki, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, linebacker Ty Powell, safety Jonathan Meeks and kicker Dustin Hopkins.
Kyle Williams
News
A leg injury has kept Bills deensive tackle Kyle Williams off the field Thursday. Williams started every game in 2013, racking up 68 tackles and 10 1/2 sacks.
Jerry Hughes
News
Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes earned the wrath of Doug Marrone in Thursday practice. The coach also lambasted his entire team.

"You don't have to play on this team," Marrone told Hughes, per the Buffalo News. He then told all the players to "get your (stuff) together."

Duke Williams
Mike Williams
News
Bills receiver Mike Williams started over Robert Woods again in Friday's preseason game against the Panthers in Carolina.

Williams was limited to one catch for a gain of 28 yards, which came during the third series of offense. Woods played the first half and finished as the team's second-leading receiver with four catches for 31 yards on eight targets.
Chris Summers
News
Former Giants wideout Ramses Barden was one of the five players that signed reserve/future contracts with the Bills on Thursday, the team announced. Barden was waived by New York on Sept. 10 and was unable to catch on with another team.

Safety Jajuan Harley, linebacker Willie Jefferson, wide receiver Chris Summers and linebacker Nathan Williams were the other signings for Buffalo.
Frank Summers
News
The Bills have signed receiver Chris Hogan, O-lineman Antoine McClain and fullback Frank Summers to exclusive-rights free-agent deals.
Bobby Felder
News
The Buccaneers signed receiver Tommy Streeter, quarterback Jordan Rodgers, defensive back Marc Anthony, offensive tackle Emmett Cleary, guard Jace Daniels, defensive tackle Everett Dawkins, defensive back Bobby Felder, guard Jason Foster, defensive tackle David Hunter, kicker Patrick Murray, long snapper Patrick Scales and punter Jacob Schum to reserve/futures contracts.
Sammy Watkins
News
Doug Marrone said if the Bills were playing their third preseason game Thursday, rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins would not be active, per ESPN. Watkins is dealing with a rib injury and has not been cleared by team doctors for game action.

The Bills are off Friday and are set to play Saturday against Tampa Bay. Watkins participated in some drills Thursday after sitting out the Tuesday and Wednesday sessions, but did not take part in team drills.

Injury
Rib - Questionable for Week 3 of preseason
Xavius Boyd
News
The Bills signed former Ravens linebacker Xavius Boyd and waived linebacker Darrin Kitchens with an injury designation. Kitchens suffered a lower-body injury Tuesday.
Evan Rodriguez
News
The Bills announced Monday they signed fullback Evan Rodriguez to the 53-man roster. Rodriguez has been a free agent since being released by Miami before the start of the season.

The others listed are offensive lineman Mark Asper and Antoine McClain, wideout Cordell Roberson defensive back Brandon Smith and running back Ronnie Wingo

Corbin Bryant
News
Among the players inactive for the Bills Week 1 vs. New England are kicker Dustin Hopkins (groin), cornerback Stephon Gilmore (wrist), center Doug Legursky (knee), defensive tackle Jay Ross, tight end Chris Gragg and defensive tackle Corbin Bryant.
Alan Branch
News
Bills defensive tackle Alan Branch failed his conditioning test, reports ESPN.com. Branch won't be allowed to practice until he passes. He played in every game last year, making 39 tackles.
Chris Gragg
News
Bills tight end Chris Gragg caught one pass Week 15 against the Jaguars.

Gragg caught his only target of the day, picking up 28 yards on the play. He'll take on the Dolphins Week 16.

Cyrus Kouandjio
News
With the No. 44 pick in the NFL Draft, the Bills selected offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio from Alabama.

Kouandjio is 6-foot-7, 322 pounds. He made 26 starts for the Crimson Tide, but there are some concerns over his knee after he tore his ACL in 2011, which caused him to be red-flagged at the NFL Combine for an arthritic knee, later flunking multiple team physicals.

Despite the knee issues, Kouandjio has the chance to start at right tackle for the Bills this year if he wins the job in training camp.

Brian Moorman
News
Jonathan Dwyer was the only surprising cut by the Steelers on Saturday. Manny Lawson
