The Bengals announced that the following five players’ seasons are over, after they were placed on injured reserve: defensive backs Brandon Ghee (wrist) and Shaun Prater (knee); safety Robert Sands (chest), wide receiver Taveon Rogers (shoulder) and guard Travelle Wharton.

The Bengals re-signed running back Cedric Peerman on Thursday. Terms were not initially known. "It's great to have Cedric's situation wrapped up; he's a smart and productive player who keeps getting better for us," said head coach Marvin Lewis. "And the guys we've tendered have also contributed to us reaching the playoffs each of the last two years. They are players we want to retain, and this (tender process) is a step in that direction."

The Bengals promoted DB Jeromy Miles from their practice squad Wednesday.

Mohamed Sanu said he feels back to normal as he took the field for Bengals OTAs this week. The injured foot that ended his rookie season early appears to be in the rear-view mirror. Bengals receivers coach James Urban is confident Sanu will contribute. "There's things you have to do when there is 22 bodies on the field that you can't replicate," Urban said. "The cutting and the natural reaction stuff where you are putting your foot in the ground, doing all those things. He's fine."

Foot - Probable for start of training camp

The Bengals placed defensive lineman Jamaal Anderson (torn quadriceps) on injured reserve Tuesday.

Bengals defensive back Reggie Nelson posted his third interception of the season in Week 16 against the Steelers. He picked off quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the closing minutes of the game, which led to Cincinnati winning 13-10. Nelson also recorded three solo tackles and two passes defended in the victory.

Bengals defensive linemen Domata Peko barely made an impact, but managed to recover a fumble during Thursday's contest against the Eagles in Week 15. Peko fell on a fumble on the second play of the game. He also added one tackle in a 34-13 victory.

The Bengals have waived fullback Jourdan Brooks and receiver Justin Hilton.

Cincinnati DB Nate Clements tallied seven tackles and a sack during the Bengals 20-13 win over St. Louis in Week 15. Clements took down Rams QB Kellen Clemens for his first sack of the season. "If we finish strong, we'll give ourselves a chance," Clements said. "Guys are going to be focused on the opponent at hand."

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said he expects newly re-signed linebacker Rey Maualuga to stay as a middle linebacker on defense.

The Bengals placed fullback Chris Pressley on injured reserve Saturday. Pressley suffered a season-ending knee injury on Thursday against the Eagles.

Pass rush veteran James Harrison has traded his Pittsburgh gold for Cincinnati orange, signing with the Bengals according to his agent via the official team website.

Bengals receiver A.J. Green caught three touchdown passes in a losing effort for the AFC in the 2013 Pro Bowl. He led the team with 119 yards on seven catches, grabbing scores from Peyton Manning (6 yards) and Andrew Luck (4 yards and 49 yards).

The Bengals have re-signed running back Bernard Scott, the official team website reported. Scott is working his way back from a torn ACL suffered last year.

Knee - Questionable for start of training camp

The Bengals acquired wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher on waivers from the Bears on Tuesday and placed first-round draft pick Dre Kirkpatrick on injured reserve. Kirkpatrick had been out since suffering a concussion in Week 13.

NFL Network reports the Bengals have re-signed receiver/kick returner Brandon Tate.

Cincinnati linebacker Dontay Moch will miss the remainder of the season after being placed on the reserve/non-football illness list on Friday. Moch has played in just one game since being drafted last year as he continues to deal with migraine headaches. "When he was injured, it didn't seem to be an issue," coach Marvin Lewis said. "When he was gone through suspension it supposedly wasn't. That's kind of the telltale sign."

The Bengals have released cornerback Jason Allen.

The Bengals placed kicker Mike Nugent on season-ending injured reserve Friday with a lingering calf issue. Nugent was not able to practice throughout the past week and missed the previous two games with the injury. Josh Brown will continue to handle kicking duties for Cincinnati.

Bengals wide receiver Marvin Jones had his second strong performance in a row Sunday in Week 17 against the Ravens. Jones brought in five receptions for 45 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown reception. He was targeted eight times in the game, as the Bengals won, 23-17.

The Bengals signed fullback John Conner on Saturday, according to the team's official site.

The Bengals re-signed tight end Richard Quinn.

Auburn's Onterio McCalebb, undrafted in April, was signed to the Bengals roster. While he played running back in college, he will work as a cornerback in minicamp and could get a look as a receiver too. McCalebb was primarily added for his kick-return skills.

The agent for tight end Alex Smith posted on Twitter that his client has signed with the Bengals. He played for the Browns over the last three seasons, collecting 28 catches.

The Bengals official team website reports that the Bengals have come to an agreement with defensive end Robert Geathers on a deal that will keep him in Cincinnati. Geathers started all 16 games for the Bengals last season, recording 30 tackles and three sacks.

The Bengals extended a tender offers to receiver Andrew Hawkins on Thursday, effectively keeping him with the team for the 2013 season. He'll be a restricted free agent after the upcoming season.

Bengals DB Gibril Wilson left Week 14's game against the Texans with a rib injury. He is questionable to return.

The Bengals have signed linebacker/defensive end Aaron Maybin on Friday. Maybin spent two years with the Bills and two years with the Jets after being a first-round pick in 2009.

The Sports Xchange reports the Bengals and quarterback Josh Johnson have agreed to a two-year deal.

ESPN's report from Bengals minicamp suggested that Tyler Eifert's drafting was done by design. That's because incumbent starter Jermaine Gresham wasn't on the same page as quarterback Andy Dalton, according to the report. Gresham needed a talk with Dalton after a miscommunication on one play and had a drop on another play. Dalton, meanwhile, hit Eifert on the next play after Gresham's drop. Per the report, Eifert passed the "eyeball test" and that's without him wearing pads.

The Bengals promoted running back Dan Herron from the practice squad to the active roster Tuesday.

Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden told the official team website he's been impressed with second-year tight end Orson Charles. "He's doing well; he's fighting through some things mentally," Gruden said. "Once he learns the basics of fullback, then maybe we can do some more with him outside also. He's playing a little bit of everything right now. He's a great athlete. He just has to find a home. With [our tight end additions], we think he's strong enough and quick enough in space where he can do some things in the backfield and also be a tight end."

The Bengals' defense suffered an early blow Friday when the team placed linebacker Thomas Howard on season-ending injured reserve after he tore his ACL during practice on Thursday. "It was an unfortunate thing anytime a player like Thomas, a young talent, gets hurt. You have to move on. It’s a freak thing that happens," coach Marvin Lewis told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Cincinnati Enquirer noticed two highlight passes from Andy Dalton in OTA practice Tuesday, connecting on a bomb to A.J. Green on the first throw of the session and another to Marvin Jones, who beat double coverage. "I think it’s quickening up the drop or throwing the ball a little higher on different throws and things like that," Dalton said of what's changed on throwing deep. "With the time that we've had with the phase before this one getting into OTAs we've put in some work and I definitely see an improvement."

The agent for Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson announced on Twitter that his client signed his franchise tender. He'll earn $11.175 million in 2013 and become a free agent in 2014.

The Bengals have acquired CB Kelly Jennings from the Seahawks in exchange for DT Clinton McDonald, according to ESPN.

Bengals defensive back Taylor Mays returned to practice Monday for the first time since suffering a possible concussion in Friday's victory against the Jets. The third-year safety out of USC walked away dazed after being hit in the side of the head attempting to make a tackle.

CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora believes the addition of tight end Tyler Eifert won't impact teammate Jermaine Gresham at all. In fact, he calls Gresham one of his breakout candidates for 2013. La Canfora cites Gresham's athleticism and ability as positives and thinks Eifert's arrival might make Gresham work a little harder to play well and land a rich contract after the 2014 season.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis is already fond of rookie running back Giovani Bernard, who Cincinnati drafted out of North Carolina in the second round. Bernard displayed multiple rushing and receiving skills in college and offers promise of a new dimension for the Bengals offensive scheme. He scored 31 touchdowns in just two seasons at North Carolina and established a career record for yards-per-rush (5.9). He totaled 2,481 rushing yards and added 852 as a receiver. He averaged 107.9 rushing yards per game and 144.9 scrimmage yards per game. Bernard is expected to be a complementary back to BenJarvus Green-Ellis. He should be a change-of-pace rusher and work on passing downs. “Giovani is a dynamic guy, both running the football and catching it,” said Lewis. “And he was one of North Carolina’s hardest-working guys on the team, so he fits the mold of guys we like – not only good, but extremely hard-working.”

Bengals safety Chris Crocker entered Sunday's game against the Broncos in Week 9 with just four tackles on the year. He managed to pick up a team-high seven tackles (five solo) in a 31-23 defeat.

The Cincinnati Enquirer speculates that the Bengals will still give more snaps this season to veteran running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis over rookie Giovani Bernard. The Bengals drafted Bernard in the second round to be a complementary running back to Green-Ellis.

The Bengals official team website reports cornerback Leon Hall will return to OTAs eventually after suffering a ligament tear in his thumb. The injury occured lifting weights. He's expected to be fine for training camp.

Thumb - Probable for start of training camp

The Bengals chose defensive end Margus Hunt from Southern Methodist with a second round in the NFL draft. Hunt's an interesting story: He grew up in Estonia and went to SMU for track and field. But he joined the football team in 2009 when the school dropped track and field. He's a beast, standing at a whopping 6-foot-8 and 277 pounds. Better yet he ran a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash. He totaled 11 sacks over his final two years in school and set an NCAA record with 17 blocked kicks (10 field goals, seven extra points).

Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap got to the quarterback for a sack in Wee 17 against the Ravens Sunday, his fifth in the last five games. Dunlap added a pair of tackles in the game, but his biggest play came in an unexpected way. Dunlap snatched a Tyrod Taylor pass out of the air in the fourth quarter and returned it 14 yards for the game-decided touchdown in a 23-17 win.

Bengals receiver Ryan Whalen had one catch for 6 yards Sunday at Kansas City in Week 11. He had one target in the game.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the Bengals have re-signed defensive back Terence Newman to a two-year, $5 million contract.

The Bengals called up LB Vincent Rey from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Wednesday.

Clark Harris, Quan Cosby, Darius Hill and Jerome Simpson all failed to record a stat in the team's Week 17 loss at the Jets.
