Harrison, 35, spent last season with the Bengals after playing his first 11 years with Pittsburgh.

But it's early and "that's why fingers are crossed" that neither star begins the season on the PUP list, the report said.

Knee - Questionable for start of training camp
Danieal Manning
News
Newly-signed Danieal Manning could start at safety for the Bengals opposite Reggie Nelson, reports the team's website. An eight-year vet who'll turn 32 in training camp, Manning also could handle some kickoff returns.

“I am not going to lie, one reason that played a part in me coming here was I had seen the role that they had continuing to knock on the playoff door," said Manning, who spent the last three seasons with the Texans.

"I had seen this was a team that I would potentially love to play with if I ever had the opportunity to come to free agency. My prayers were answered. I’m just ecstatic and elated to be a part of the organization.”

A.J. Green
News
The Bengals are expected to exercise the fifth-year option on receiver A.J. Green's contract by May 3, reports Pro Football Talk. But the sides have yet to discuss a long-term contract extension, according to the report.

The Bengals hold the rights to Green through the 2015 season. And in 2016, if a long-term deal hasn't been signed yet, the Bengals can use the franchise tag on Green for that season.

The report says Green can force the issue by trying to boycott offseason workouts or hold out from training camp. But Bengals coach Marvin Lewis is confident Green will be there.

Clint Boling
News
Bengals offensive lineman Clint Boling and linebacker/safety Emmanuel Lamur are expected to pitch in more in 2014 after getting hurt in 2013.

The official team website notes that Boling, who had ACL surgery on Dec. 31, is a much-needed piece to the O-line. His versatility provides depth and he's talented enough to start. He thinks he'll be ready for Week 1.

Lamur (shoulder) will be cleared in time for late-April offseason work and also offers a lot of versatility. Big enough to play linebacker and fast enough to dabble at safety, Lamur could work as a three-down defender, according to defensive coordinator Paul Guenther, but might exclusively on passing downs in nickel packages.

Rex Burkhead
News
Bengals running back Rex Burkhead played in only one game as a rookie. The former Nebraska star is hoping for more opportunities under new coordinator Hue Jackson, a running game guru.

“Coach Jackson has a great mind for the game of football, and I know he likes using the running backs, like he did with (Darren) McFadden in Oakland and the rest of that crew,” Burkhead told the team's website. “If he wants to use me in every way possible, I’m ready for it. I’m waiting for my opportunity, and if he calls my number I’ll be ready.”

Burkhead impressed in the 2013 preseason, gaining 130 yards on 28 carries (4.6 ypc) with one touchdown and catching five passes for 39 yards. He's currently fourth on the depth chart behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Giovani Bernard and Cedric Peerman.

Emmanuel Lamur

Brandon Thompson

Lewis-Harris spent seven weeks on the active roster this year and made three tackles in three games played.

Zach Minter
News
The Bears announced Tuesday they waived defensive tackle Zach Minter. The rookie was active for just two games and did not record a tackle.
Andrew Whitworth
News
The Bengals' Andrew Whitworth moved from left tackle to left guard for the final six games last season, replacing the injured Clint Boling while Anthony Collins stepped in for Whitworth. Although Whitworth excelled inside, he'd prefer to return to left tackle.

“I’m a long, lean lever guy without thick arms or legs. I’m built to play tackle,” Whitworth told the team's website. “I feel like that’s where I’d like to stay. That’s not a firm thing. It’s just what I would prefer.”

Whitworth is signed through 2015.

“I know this is a business and they have to do what they think is best for the future of the team and not for just one or two years,” he siad. “I know I turn the big 33 this year (Dec. 12) …I feel like I can play tackle for a long time.”

Whitworth's future could depend on whether Cincinnati re-signs Collins, a free agent.

Devon Still
News
The Bengals signed defensive tackle Ogemdi Nwagbuo, a fourth-year Michigan State product who's played in 36 NFL games. Cincinnati also placed defensive tackle Devon Still (back) and tight end Alex Smith (wrist) on the reserve/injured list.

News
Bengals wide receiver Andrew Hawkins had a big 34-yard catch to set up the team's sixth and final touchdown Week 16 against the Vikings, but he was a relatively small contributor on the day, finishing with three catches for 37 yards.

Likewise, running back Cedric Peerman had two carries for 6 yards, and quarterback Josh Johnson, who spelled starter Andy Dalton late in a blowout win, had four carries for 3 yards.

Tyler Eifert
News
The Bengals tight ends had mixed success against the Chargers.

Both players were questionable heading into the game due to injuries, but only Jermaine Gresham was successful. Gresham caught seven passes for 64 yards. He also scored the team's only touchdown, catching a 4 yard pass in the second quarter.

Tyler Eifert was nearly as successful. He finished the game with two targets, but did not catch a pass.

No specific details are known other than he was arrested by Madison County officials last night. Charles is entering his third season with Cincinnati; he has nine career catches.
Andy Dalton
News
Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton recently spent five days with noted quarterback guru Tom House, reports the team's official website. Dalton is trying to improve his throwing motion and accuracy.

"The motion is still mine. It's not like it's completely changed," Dalton said. "We tweaked a few things just to make sure all of your momentum, all your force, everything you have is going toward the target of where you're trying to throw. We tweaked it a little bit. It happens so quickly, I don't think the average person will notice it. There was stuff that was new to me. It’s science-based and applying it. But once I got used to it, it was fine."

House, a former MLB pitcher, has worked with Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Carson Palmer in the past. Dalton is entering a contract year and trying to improve on last year's success when he had 4,296 passing yards, 33 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He has been to the playoffs each of the past three years but has failed to win a game.

Marshall Newhouse

News

Jermaine Gresham

Giovani Bernard
News
Marvin Lewis was the one to pull in the reins on using Giovani Bernard more than the team did in 2013, but it sounds like he won't do the same in 2014. Lewis told CBSSports.com from the NFL Owners Meeting in Orlando that he wanted to save Bernard for a 20-game season while also mentioning that rookies typically overwork themselves in preparation for the draft.

But now Lewis is hoping for Bernard to take a deep breath, reflect on his rookie year, and then "mature and grow" into a prominent role in the Bengals' run game.

"I witnessed in Ray Rice since his rookie year in Baltimore and then from ['08 to '09] and the difference in him. We're hoping that Gio can take those same steps," Lewis said.

Zac Robinson
News
The Bengals announced Tuesday quarterback Zac Robinson (elbow) will remain on the PUP list. However, fullback Chris Pressley (knee) was waived off the PUP list.
Chris Crocker
News
Bengals OL Anthony Collins, S Chris Crocker, CB Dre Kirkpatrick, LB Vincent Rey, OL Andre Smith and OL Andrew Whitworth are active against the Chargers.

Collins, Rey, Smith and Whitworth are all dealing with ankle injuries. All six players were able to get through full practice Friday.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis
News
New Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson has made it clear that he wants the team's run game to be more physical and more of a factor under his guidance.

"What I need to do is unleash these guys," Jackson said. "We're going to try and create an environment for these guys to be great. That's what [head coach] Marvin [Lewis] is all about. We know we need to run the football. We want to run the football. That's where it starts. That's what he preaches."

ESPN surmises that under Jackson the Bengals will average close to 30 carries per game from their primary backs, BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Giovani Bernard. Last year when at least one of them had 15 carries the team was 6-1.

Jackson has a good track record of utilizing running backs, so both should be effective in 2014.

Dane Sanzenbacher
News
Restricted free agent receiver Dane Sanzenbacher re-signed with the Bengals. He had six catches for 61 yards in 10 games last year.
Ogemdi Nwagbuo
News
The Bengals have made RB Rex Burkhead, CB Terence Newman, OT Tanner Hawkinson, WR Ryan Whalen, WR Dane Sanzenbacher, DT Ogemdi Nwagbuo and TE Kevin Brock inactive against the Chargers.

Newman is the only player on the list who was on the injury report. He was doubtful due to a knee injury. The other six players are healthy scratches.

George Iloka
News
Bengals defensive back George Iloka and linebacker Rey Maualuga each intercepted quarterback Matt Cassel Week 16 against the Vikings, joining linebacker Vincent Rey, who returned his pick for a touchdown. It was both players' first interception this season.

Iloka also had two tackles, including one solo. Maualuga also had three tackles, including one solo.

Adam Jones
News
Conventional wisdom heading into the offseason is that the Bengals will draft a cornerback with the 24th pick in the first round, according to the team's website. "Leon Hall is coming off his second torn Achilles in three years and Terence Newman and Adam Jones turn 36 and 31, respectively, the first month of the season," the report notes.

Bengals cornerback Leon Hall is doing 'all football drills' in rehab according to the official team website. Hall is working his way back from a torn Achilles suffered last October and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Margus Hunt

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said from the NFL Owners Meeting on Tuesday that second-year defensive end Margus Hunt will get in the mix to replace Michael Johnson as a starting pass rusher.

"We drafted Margus (Hunt) a year ago as part of that transition," Lewis told the official team website. "And we'll have other guys that step up. Wallace Gilberry had a great year last year. Robert Geathers comes back from injury. We'll be fine."

Hunt's relative inexperience is a concern. Per ProFootballFocus.com, Hunt played on just 165 snaps last year.

"Margus got some experience we didn't expect him to get," Lewis said. "All that is just great, no one is going to work harder at it than him. He just needs to continue to get time on task. ... It's a reactive game and he has to continue to have opportunities to react."

Kevin Huber
News
The Bengals signed free agent punter T.J. Conley on Wednesday.

Conley punted in 16 games for the Jets in 2011. He averaged 42.7 yards on 92 punts, and his 38.8-yard net average was the highest in Jets history. He had 32 inside-20 kicks with just six touchbacks, and his plus-26 differential on inside-20s to touchbacks ranked tied for third in the NFL.

Conley did not play in the 2012 or 2013 regular seasons. He was with the Jets in the 2012 preseason and with Cleveland in the 2013 preseason.

Conley will challenge incumbent Kevin Huber for the starting job, but most likely he won't make the final roster.

Carlos Dunlap

Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap, who signed a six-year, $40 million contract last offseason, might have to be released "to create the salary cap room necessary to sign a number of other highly considered players on their roster about to hit free agency," reports DraftInsider.net. Dunlap had 7.5 sacks and four forced fumbles last season.

Defensive end Michael Johnson is one high-profile Bengal about to hit free agency.
